Chapter Eight: Finally
Rin had returned to her bubbly self after two days of being home. Sesshomaru stayed home and work there to keep an eye on her but would be returning to work today. Serena had tried her best to avoid him and any thought of him. She wanted to keep the memory of that night untainted by the hard truth that he was taken and she was soon going to have to leave. She was in love with Sesshomaru that she knew but it was one-sided. He had Kagura. She was no one, why would he leave Kagura for her? And she would never ruin another's relationship for her wants. That was not her. She knew she would have to face his rejection sooner rather than later but she wanted a few more moments when for a minute she was his.
Serena sat at her desk going over plans for the benefit that was happening in a few weeks. She wanted everything ready so that the person taking over when she left wouldn't have to worry about a thing. She knew they would look for her when she left but she would leave no trail behind, it was for their safety.
Leaning back she stretched and thought back to how his hands felt on her body. 'He is a daiyokai and taken. Stop fantasizing over something you can't have, just because he is your soul match doesn't mean he will drop everything for you. That's now how it works on Earth' she thought 'plus you bring nothing but danger to his pack.' She knew she shouldn't have gotten close to his family but she missed it. That feeling of connection, of family, of love. She had two weeks to wrap everything up here and find a suitable place to go. It needed a strong demon presence to mask her power signature and somewhere they couldn't find here. They would look for her when she disappeared but it was for the best. She couldn't stay here putting his family at risk and watch him mate that woman, it would kill her.
Sesshomaru stood in her office doorway watching her. He did enjoy watching her work, that's all he had been able to do since she was avoiding him. He listened to her. Watched her work or play his daughter or nephew. He learned everything he could about her. A smile played across his lips. He did learn quite a bit about his little star.
She loved her work, spending most of her time here.
She liked whiskey and scotch.
She loved to read, spending many evenings curled up on her office couch.
Her favourite colour was gold.
When she was mad or frustrated, her eyebrows scrunched up and she pouted.
She hated being the centre of attention.
She knew how to ballroom dance. Even trying many times to unsuccessfully teach Koga the Waltz.
He cleared his throat.
"Are you going to continue to ignore me?"
Her concentration broke, she stared at Sesshomaru. He walked further in and shut the door, giving them some privacy.
"I haven't been ignoring you" she replied standing up from her desk. He stared at her pointedly.
"Okay so maybe I have been…a little"
Sesshomaru nodded leaning against the side of her desk, desperately wanting to be close to her. He sighed crossing his arms across his broad chest.
"Why?"
"I…" she started biting her lip
"Don't hide from me" he glanced over, his eye pleading with her "why do you hide from me?"
Her resolve finally broke as she blurted out
"Because I don't want to face the truth!"
"What truth?"
Serena stalked across her office, needing space.
"That you regret what happened or almost happened" she said, her face falling. He could see her heartbreaking in front of him.
Sesshomaru pushed off her desk and slowly walked towards her.
"Why would I regret that?"
"I'm nobody! You are handsome, smart and caring. You wouldn't pick me even if you weren't already taken"
In the blink of an eye, Sesshomaru had Serena pinned to the wall, his arms trapping her. He growled
"First, do not presume to know what this one's heart truly desires. Second, I do not belong to anyone who told you that?"
"Kagura said she was your girlfriend and I am nothing in comparison to her" a tear falling from her eye down her cheek.
He pushed his lips against her roughly. She closed her eyes and automatically wove her hands in his silky mane. Sesshomaru ran his tongue along her bottom lip begging to be let in, Kami he wanted to taste her. He was pleased when she submitted and allowed his tongue to slip in. Their tongues battled for dominance with Sesshomaru eventually winning. He let his tongue explore her sweet mouth reviling in the taste. Sesshomaru pressed his body flush to hers and panted.
"You are so far above her. She is nothing in comparison to you; to your kindness, your strength, your loving heart and your beauty."
Sesshomaru was livid, at Kagura for telling her that he belonged to her. That vile woman. That lie caused Serena to push him away for no reason, caused her pain. She could have belonged to him for over a week, had her in his arms as she was now for over a week. Kagura would come to regret that choice, he would make sure of it. He stared down at her looking up through her lashes, her chest heaving. He could smell how filled with desire she was but her eyes contained nothing but love.
Kissing her again passionately, one of his hands slid down, grabbing her leg and wrapping it around his. 'This woman is intoxicating' he thought 'I don't think I ever want to not be near her.' Pulling back from her lips, leaving her panting "now do you understand? I only want to belong to one and that one is you. My beast is in agreement."
"Your beast?" she looked up quizzically, she knew about a demons beast but not how that related to desire.
"All demons have a beast you know this. It is us in our baser nature. But when they sense our true mate, they push forward" he explained brushing his knuckles down her cheek.
"And your beast wants me?"
"He hasn't shut up since I first met you"
"So he wants me but do you?" she asked looking hopeful.
Sesshomaru kissed her lips then moved to her neck. Switching between kissing and nipping at her skin, she felt her skin tingle in response.
"You don't understand, our beast reveals to us what humans refer to as a soulmate."
He licked along where the place a mating mark would be. "But to answer your question, yes I want you. All of you forever."
Serena gasped 'is he in love with me?'
Before he could confess, she interjected "you don't know everything though." What if when he knows she leaves? She didn't know if she could handle another devastating loss. He ran his nose along her cheek. Sesshomaru knew this had to be about Sion, her family and why she was running. He dropped her leg, wrapping his arms around her letting his hands rest on her hips.
"Then tell me, let me in"
She groaned "I can't"
She felt him growl against her cheek in frustration. "If you knew everything then you may leave which, to be honest I wouldn't blame you. Or worse you could get hurt" she kissed his lips gently but filled with so much love "there are some things that not even the great Sesshomaru can defeat."
He tightened his grip on her hips "You think this one weak?" he growled
"Not weak but ill-prepared" she signed leaning her head against his chest "just as we were"
'We? Who are we?' he thought looking at her confused.
"If I were to lose you or anyone in your family, I would never forgive myself" tears filled her eyes.
"What hunts you, my little star?" wanting nothing more than to protect her from all the dangers the world presented.
"I-I can't tell you right now" she emphasized the right now "but I want to, just give me a little time and I will." She was so used to be on her own, having to rely on only herself. Keeping her secrets close to her heart, it was a hard habit to break.
"Fine, I will give you some time but not long little star" kissing her face "I cannot protect you if I don't know what to protect you from"
She smiled running her fingers across his markings "I can protect myself"
He tightened his hold on her "you are mine now until the end of time so I will protect you. I will give the time you asked for but first you will answer two of my questions"
"Okay…" she answered hesitantly wondering what they were.
"Is Sion the one hunting you?" he asked staring into her eyes. He could get lost in their depths.
"Yes" she replied immediately. His eyes bled red and he pressed his nose into her hair, breathing deep. Her scent had this ability to instantly calm him.
"And the second question?"
He looked to the small woman who had so easily captured his heart.
"Will you be mine? And only mine?"
She broke out in her signature brilliant smile.
"Yes I am yours" she answered, "I am assuming you mean girlfriend?"
He chuckled pecking her lips "no I mean my intended. If and when you are ready, I intend to make you my mate"
"Just promise me you won't leave when you find out everything?"
Sesshomaru picked her up, her legs wrapping around his waist like they were always supposed to be there. Kissing her passionately, he pulled back and said "I promise you in this moment that I will never leave your side little star"
She believed him. "Now that I have you, I refused to let you go. You are mine" He pulled her in for another kiss.
"About damn time!" a voice broke through destroying the moment. The new couple looked over to see the whole family minus Izayoi and the children standing there.
"I fucking knew it!" Inuyasha clapped "pay up Koga; you owe me a hundred bucks."
Koga grumbled handing over the money. Sesshomaru released Serena thoroughly unimpressed that his family was ruining this moment. He kept her close with his arm around her waist.
"You bet on us?" she exclaimed.
Kagome shrugged sheepishly "well…the boys did but it doesn't matter because you made up!" She ran over and hugged them, Sesshomaru groaned. He despised family affection. Koga nodded "We were worried you two were going to tiptoe around each other forever."
"I'm so happy!" Ayame squealed
"You two are perfect together" added Sango "imagine what their babies will look like"
The women gave a chorus of AWWW, Sesshomaru smirked he had also thought about what any pups they had might look like. Serena's eye widened "can we make it through day one first?"
Toga pulled his son aside looking serious "you are serious about her?"
"Extremely" he nodded "my beast has spoken. She is the one." His gaze returning to Serena who was surrounded by his family smiling and laughing.
Toga's gaze softened "I worried he would be silent forever" he paused looking over to the group "don't hurt her son, I feel like she has been through a world of hurt already"
"I have no intentions of doing that"
"Good. Izayoi will be please, she worried you'd be alone forever"
Sesshomaru rolled his eyes "that woman worries far too much.
They rejoined the family as the girls demanded details, Serena didn't give much just saying that she had been informed that he was with Kagura. That's why she had been avoiding him for over a week. She felt like she was getting in between two people who were going to be mates. Kagome gagged at the prospect of having her as a sister.
"That woman is vile" said Inuyasha. He hated that she didn't seem to get the hint that Sesshomaru was not interested. She would show up many times while he was away asking reception where he was.
"She gives me the creeps" Koga agreed shaking.
"I didn't realize that at the time, here I thought I was intruding on a relationship"
"Nothing could be farther from the truth, little star" Sesshomaru interrupted wrapping himself around her nuzzling her neck.
"I know that now"
After ten minutes of gushing and back-slapping, he had had enough. He wanted to be alone with her.
"Alright everyone get out" Sesshomaru stated "I wish for us to be alone now"
He wrapped her in his arms. Koga and Inuyasha made gagging noises as they were ushered out. Miroku being the last to leave turned and teased "enjoy lovebirds" wiggling his eyebrows and shutting the door. Serena blushed covering her face with her hands.
"Ugh! My stars your family"
Sesshomaru bent down to her eye level
"I no longer wish to discuss my family"
She squealed as he easily picked her up, she wrapped her legs around his waist as he walked to the couch. He sat with her straddling his lap, pulling her close he whispered "I'm not letting you leave this spot for a very long time"

He pushed his lips against hers, slipping his tongue in immediately. He missed the taste of her mouth. 'I could taste her all day and never tire of it' he thought. She moaned in his mouth, one his hands fisted in her hair. Serena rocked her hips against him earning a groan from the man under her. He pulled her hair, jerking her head back. His lips immediately nipping and kissing her neck. She let her hands roam his chest, removing his tie and unbuttoning his shirt. She wanted to caress his chest and was not disappointed, he was chiselled. Sesshomaru bucked his hips up so she could feel what she did to his body. His tongue darted out licking up to her ear.
"Do you feel that?" he whispered bucking again "do you feel what you do to me?" he was rock hard. 'Stars help me he is so big' she thought. She moaned and rocked against him, loving how he felt against her.
"I asked you a question" he whispered biting her ear lobe.
"Y-Yes" she replied "I feel it"
"Do you like it?"
"Yes" she panted
"You make me so hard I can barely move" he grunted. Her mind was clouded by desire but she knew she had to tell him before they went any further.
"Wait stop" she said panting
He immediately ceased his teasing, pulling away.
"What is it my little star?" he asked concerned. Had he pushed her too far too soon?
"There is something you should know" she looked embarrassed and couldn't look him in the eye. Sesshomaru grasped her chin, forcing her to look at him.
"Tell me"
She spoke so fast he almost didn't hear her.
"I've never been with a man!" covering her face. Serena was afraid he might reject her, she knew nothing of the pleasures of another or how to please a man properly. She was going off instinct. A man like Sesshomaru? Looking like he does, he had probably had dozens of lovers.
"Look at me"
She peered up at his face
"I know you haven't"
"You do?" she gasped "how?"
He chuckled and tapped his nose "those with their purity intact have a distinct smell"
"A smell?" she questioned, clearly she had more to learn about dating a daiyokai.
"Yes" he brushed the hair away from her face. He loved touching her, it didn't matter in what way.
"A bad smell?"
"No," he said "you smell pure, like a fresh sea breeze. They; you, are not tainted by another's scent."
She played with the strands of his hair, processing this information.
"And you like that?"
He kissed her quickly but softly.
"Yes, it means if you chose to give me that pleasure one day then the only scent that will ever be in you will be me. I don't plan on giving you up now that you are mine."
She blushed.
"It is a big turn on knowing no one has ever touched you where I have" he brushed his fingers against her breast. She sucked in a sharp breath, her skin coming alive.
"Or kissing you where I have"
Sesshomaru pressed his lips against the top of her breast.
"That I will be the only one inside you" he pushed his hips up, his length pressing against her womanhood "that gives me untold pleasure."
She moaned "Sesshomaru"
"Yes my sweet?"
Serena opened her eyes to look at him, they were clouded with hungry. "Kiss me"
Sesshomaru slammed his lips against hers roughly. He knew she wasn't ready for that step but it didn't mean he could explore and enjoy her body. His finger made quick work of her shirt, revealing a lacy navy blue bra. Kami, she was perfect in every way. He would have a hard time letting her out his bed. He looked at her for approval, she nodded. He wouldn't push her past her limits. He unclasped her bra, letting her breasts free. Serena covered her chest, embarrassed. He removed her arms "never be ashamed" he said cupping one breast perfectly "your body is beautiful." He leaned down capturing her nipple in his mouth. She gasped at the new sensation. He sucked her puckered nipple teasing the tip with his tongue. She let out a moan.
"Oh Sesshomaru that feels so good"
She tangled her hands in his hair. He let go of her breast with a pop and smirked "good I'm just getting started"
"Oh?"
He flicked her nipple with his tongue and huskily said "I'm going to make you cum. I want to hear you scream my name without me ever touching this." He cupped her womanhood and chuckled at her shocked expression. He leaned down to recapture his nipple when a loud knock disrupted the moment. Serena let out a yelp quickly covering with her shirt. He growled loudly, who dare interrupt them? Toga walked in, his hand over his eyes.
"We can all smell what's going on from out there you know"
Sesshomaru growled his displeasure "then I wonder why you interrupted us"
Toga peeked through his fingers pleased to see her covered and hiding her face in his son's chest.
"Trust me son, I'd rather not" he stated "but it's 5 pm and we have a potential donor waiting to hear your presentation."
'Damnit I forgot about that' Serena groaned internally.
"Yep I remember" she said unable to look at Toga in the face "we will be right there."
"No we won't. Reschedule" Sesshomaru interjected.
"We can't Sesshomaru!" she stated as she struggled to get redressed without exposing herself.
"They came from a long way apparently and this is only chance to get their donation" she stood up fixing her pants blushing at the sight of his very obvious erection "it could be a big donation."
Toga looked amused at his son's displeasure. "I'll meet you in the boardroom" turning to leave but not before calling over his shoulder "you may want to deal with that before you join us" gesturing to his son's obvious arousal.
Sesshomaru growled back at his father's laughing form. Who would have thought his son would be caught with his per verbally pants down. And in the office no less.
'All I want is to stay here…with her' Sesshomaru grumbled inwardly buttoning his shirt. He looked over at her, she had his whole heart and didn't know it. She was attempting to fix her dishevelled hair. 'She is so gorgeous inside and out' his eye travelling down her body 'dear kami how am I going to be able to focus.'
Serena felt her body heat up under his gaze. "You know if you keep looking at me like that" she said walking over to him and fixing his tie "we won't make it to that meeting."
"Good" he growled tightening his hands on her "let's stay here so I may hear my name fall from your pretty lips."
She leaned up and kissing him quickly "come on little puppy"
Sesshomaru looked at her shocked. 'Did she just…'
Serena laughed walking out of her office.
"LITTLE PUPPY?!" he exclaimed following her "I'll show you little" he grumbled.
