***I DON'T OWN INUYASHA OR SAILOR MOON***

Hey everyone thank you so much for all the follows and favourites. I would love to hear from more of you about what you think!

Chapter Sixteen: Their First Fight

Sesshomaru woke the next morning to Serena laying naked on his chest sleeping soundly. He smirked thinking of how many times they brought each other to oblivion before passing out. He got great enjoyment from the fact that she came so hard from their last round, she passed out. Sesshomaru was happy to see her appetite for sex was just as high as his, Inus were passionate creatures having a reputation for taking their mates at least once a day. He ran his fingers across her skin, how did he get so lucky? Serena accepted him, loved his daughter like she was her own and put up with his ridiculous family. She was breathtaking, laying against him breathing lightly. The light streamed in through his window illuminating her beautiful milky skin and golden hair.

'How can I show you how much you mean to me already?' he thought yawning slightly

He hadn't slept much the night before, he kept going over the days' events in his head. Watching her lay there dying killed him inside, he swore to himself he would not let Sion get close to her. She was his and no one was going to take her from him. Then finding out she was immortal, a royal and had gone through so much before him stirred the protectiveness inside him. He wanted to shield her from all the evils of the world, Serena had already been through so much. Sesshomaru kissed her head. Serena was the strongest person he'd ever met, to live through what she had but still have so much love and happiness in her heart? You had to be strong to do that.

He had no question in his heart that she would stand in the face of any danger if it meant keeping the ones she loved safe. He saw that first hand in the memories the previous night. Sesshomaru was worried however, part of the reason he had been kept up most of the night, what if the next time she protected someone he lost her? He wouldn't survive it. Not knowing the fear he felt watching her dying and not being able to help her. He tightened his grip on her, that would not happen this time. They would stand with her.

His little star began to stir against him, burying her face into his chest.

"Good morning love." He stroked her hair as she rose from her slumber. Serena peeked up from his chest and he could feel her lips curl up in a smile.

"Hmm good morning handsome"

She stretched pushing her bare chest against him. Sesshomaru found it difficult to keep himself limp.

"You keep doing that, I'll start another round" he chastised her smacking her bare ass.

He smirked at her red face and chuckled.

Serena stuck her finger into his chest "no way, I doubt I can walk straight this morning"

"Good" feeling proud of his accomplishment.

They laid content wrapped up in one another as the morning worn on, it wasn't even nine in the morning. Serena enjoyed the moment, it felt right like they would be doing this for the rest of their lives. Sesshomaru played with her hair absentmindedly as he thought back to yesterday's events. Serena turned her head and looked at him. She knew something was on his mind. Not many people could read him well but being his true mate she had this ability to know him in a way no one else did.

"What's wrong?" she asked looking concerned

Sesshomaru looked thoughtful for a moment before answering "I was recalling what your father said"

Serena propped herself up on her forearms.

"About my soul match?" she questioned

"Yes" he took a breath "he was speaking about me correct?"

"Do you know of any other silver-haired dog demons I may have been spying on?" she teased earning her a look and a light smack on the ass from the demon laying under her.

"Yes he was, Moon royalty can only ever have one great love. The silver crystal demands a love as pure and true as it" she smiled her brilliant smile at him laying a quick kiss on his chest

"That's you." He was relieved, her father had never actually spoken his name. He wanted reassurance that he was indeed the male her father proudly boasted about.

He nodded "Can you show me this link you spoke of?"

"You want to see it?" Serena looked surprised. She didn't think he would want to see how they were able to see their matches.

"Hn"

Serena sat up sitting across from him, the sheet falling around her waist exposing her.

Sesshomaru rubbed his face "Woman…" as he sat up.

"Oops sorry" she giggled wrapping the sheet back around her "too distracting?"

He took her hand and placed it on his semi-hard cock smirking. She blushed. He leaned in close to her face teasing her

"You blush yet I do believe you sucked this one numerous times last night"

"Do you want to see the link or tease me?" she huffed playfully.

"Show me" he commanded releasing her hand.

She closed her eyes and concentrated, her crescent moon shimmered in the sunlight. Sesshomaru resisted the urge to touch it. He would never get tired of looking at it. A shining white tether appeared seemingly connecting the two, connecting them in the centre of their chests.

"It's white" he commented examining it, his hand passing right now it.

"It means our love is pure and strong" she added "you can't feel it but when I met you I felt this pull in my chest, like it was tugging me towards you. It made staying away from you difficult"

He nodded understanding "like my beast telling me to mark you when he first saw you"

The tether disappeared, Sesshomaru leaned back having Serena lean against his chest letting her rest her head under his chin.

"Do you think King Matis would have approved?" he asked

"Of last night? I would hope he would never know" she teased.

Sesshomaru stared at the small woman his facing showing his dissatisfaction with her answer. She enjoyed teasing him knowing only she could get away with it. Serena stroked his cheek smiling softly.

"He would have loved you. He boasted many times that he would watch my match fight and train. How strong he was"

His chest swelled with pride, happy to know his intended's father would have approved of him. Knew he was strong and capable of protecting his only daughter, the thing most precious to him. When he did propose, he wouldn't be able to ask his permission so knowing that King Matis already knew about him and was happy with her match meant a lot more than he realized.

Serena got suddenly quiet drawing circles on his chest. There was something she wanted to ask him about but she wasn't sure how he would react.

"Toga told me what happened to your mother…" she started

Sesshomaru stiffened and with that the good mood was ruined. He did not like discussing his mother, their relationship was complicated and how they ended things were even more complicated. He didn't discuss it with anyone. The last person to push him was Izayoi many years ago before Inuyasha was born. He hated her when his father first announced his intention to mate her, he didn't want a new mother. She was loving, sweet and patient with him even when he lost his temper. He only really lost it once, when she asked about Rumiko. She didn't back down or get scared rather sat, listening to him yell at her until he finally ran out of anger.

They sat for hours talking about what had happened, how his mother was and her impact on him. She never questioned Satori's motives or tried to make him feel better, she just hugged him and said she was happy he trusted her enough to tell her. His Father almost hit him when he found out he yelled at her, luckily Izayoi chastised him telling him what happens between a mom and her son was none of his business. He wasn't angry when she said it either. From that day forward, their relationship changed. He loved Izayoi and their relationship was one that no one understood. He had never had another person who wanted to know him like that. He kept himself closed off for a reason, Rumiko instilled that being emotional was a weakness and weakness was not tolerated.

"What about her?" he asked curtly staring up at the ceiling

"Well I know she has passed but that's it" Serena pushed

She had hoped to hear more about the woman who raised him, to know more about his childhood. They were to spend eternity together and she wanted to know everything. What was he like as a child, what shaped him into the man he was now and how she impacted him.

"Nothing to tell" he declared hoping that would end the conversation. It didn't, she pushed on.

"What was she like?"

He sighed "I do not wish to discuss this" hoping she would drop the subject. Why couldn't they focus on the future and not on his past? Some things were just too touchy to discuss.

Sesshomaru tried to lean forward to kiss her, she leaned back scooting away from his body. She gave him a frustrated look, her brows furrowed and lips pursed.

"Why not?" she demanded. 'Why won't he talk to me?' she thought frustrated by his lack of conversation.

He flopped on his back groaning. Serena sat beside him, her arms crossed not giving an inch. She just wanted to know more about his childhood and how he grew up.

"Because I do not. End of discussion" he stated firmly

She scoffed "oh end of discussion" getting out of bed and slipping on the long silk robe Kagome lent her muttering "you are unbelievable"

It was like he was trying to punish her for not telling him about Sion and who she was. Maybe he was.

"This is some type of punishment? Because I kept something from you? I was trying to protect you! Protect your family. Is that what this is?" she exclaimed tying the robe around her waist glaring at Sesshomaru

"No! What are you doing?" he asked sitting up reaching out for her "come back to bed"

He just wanted to go back to holding her close and kissing her was that so wrong? His mother was a touchy subject for him. He never discussed her with anyone including his father, they hadn't discussed her since her death. After she died, Sesshomaru went into a dark place. He become an incredibly cold person almost inhospitable and cold-blooded. He cared not for anyone, putting distance between himself and everyone else. His father and he fought for months over it, Toga didn't want to watch his son go down such a dark road unable to come back when he realized that was not him.

"No" she answered firmly turning her back to him.

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed at her. His beast stirred, he was not one that was used to being told no. Women fell over themselves to give him whatever he wanted. He had never heard a woman he was with telling him no. Though Serena was not like any woman he had ever been with.

"No?" he growled "you dare deify me? Your mate?"

She whirled around, anger rolling off her waves punching his senses in the face.

"Last time I checked, I sported no mark! I am not yours to control Sesshomaru Taisho!" her eyes filled with frustrated tears "I shared my deepest secret and my darkest day with you but you refuse to let me in? That is not how this works!"

"Little…" he started growing impatient. Could she not just let this go?

"Don't you dare little star me! I showed you the moment my heart was ripped in two, watching my family die! My people slaughtered and my home burned" she yelled hot tears rolling down her face. He reached for her arm and she pulled away taking several steps away from him, he was not going to get out of this one. If this relationship was going to go anywhere and they were to be mates then he needed to open up to her. He growled, he did not like to be vulnerable and emotional. It was not in his nature.

"Fine" she threw her hands up in defeat shaking her head "you do whatever you want Taisho" She turned on her heel and stalked out of his bedroom.

The door slammed behind her so loudly it shook the pictures on the wall. He fell back into back rubbing his face. 'The morning started so well and I just had to go screw it up' he thought.

"Why didn't you just tell her?" he scolded himself, he had thought he had made such strides being more emotionally vulnerable but he had a ways to go.

Serena stormed into the kitchen sniffling rubbing her sleeve across her eyes. She poured herself a cup of coffee grumbling about stupid demons and their egos. She thought they were so well matched but maybe she was wrong, did she push too far? No he was being an arrogant ass. She slammed the pot on the counter sighing.

"Sweetheart?"

Serena looked to Izayoi standing in the doorway, her gaze soft and motherly. The rest of the family was sitting at the table staring at her, Kagome shaking her head. She hung her head, clearly they heard the whole interaction. Serena's lip trembled as she broke down in tears covering her face with her hands. Izayoi rushed over gathering her in her arms, sometimes you need a mothers touch.

"Come on sweetheart, let's go to my room" she soothed rubbing her back. Izayoi knew Sesshomaru could be stubborn sometimes but she had hoped he wouldn't be that way with Serena. He needed to be pushed hard to open up about particularly touchy subjects like emotions or his mother. All three Taisho men were the same that way, they were not fans of discussing things that made them uncomfortable. However, she also knew that Serena was the most tender-hearted person in their family. She needed that openness to feel secure and safe. He was going to have to get out of his way in this matter.

"Girls, come" she stated pulling Serena out of the kitchen towards her room.

Sango, Ayame and Kagome followed the pair, the males stayed behind to give Sesshomaru a piece of their mind. Kagome stopped and looked to Toga, who looked pissed to say the least.

"Talk some sense into that blockhead Dad"

He nodded "Don't worry I will"

Toga had warned his son not to hurt her. He knew what their argument had been about but his son needed to get his head out of his ass before he messed things up to the point where he couldn't fix it. He may be grown but even grown men need to be taught a lesson once in a while.

***With the girls***

The woman sat in Izayoi's room comforting Serena, they all sat on the floor while Izayoi sat behind her and brushed through her hair. That always made the other girls feel better.

Serena cried telling them all about their fight, how she just wanted to know about his childhood and who he was before her.

"I bared my soul to him last night. Showed him everything and he won't talk to me" she whimpered

Sango handed her a tissue giving her a look of sympathy

"Sesshomaru has always been closed off and cold. He didn't even say hi to me for the first month I lived here" trying to reassure her

"But he says I'm his mate shouldn't I be the one person he opens up to? Or am I pushing too much?" Serena dropped her head into her hands "I would've talked to my mother about this. I don't know what to do here. I've been alone for so long…"

Kagome shook her head angry at her brother for being such a moron. "Oh no! Don't you let that arrogant demon off the hook. You push and keep pushing until he learns to open up. I did that with Inuyasha, we got into so many fights before he realized he just needed to talk to me. He needs to get over his shit."

Sango and Ayame nodded voicing their agreement. Inu demons were notoriously proud men who did not enjoy discussing their emotions or the things that made them vulnerable.

"He is a stubborn demon" Izayoi added "However he would move heaven and earth for you, I can see it in the way he looks at you. You can read his heart in his eyes when he sees you"

Ayame scoffed "Toga is going to whip him good for making you cry"

The girls just laughed at the idea of Sesshomaru being punished by his father for causing her pain. The girls knew that Toga already had a soft spot for Serena, not that it caused any of them an ounce of jealousy. She lost her family, Toga could step into that spot for her.

"So just keep pushing?" Serena questioned looking at them for reassurance. She had never been with anyone before him, every little thing they went through was new to her.

"Yes" Izayoi answered "I also find it helps if you deny him any access"

"Access?" asked Kagome looking confused.

Izayoi gave them a look and wiggled her eyebrows. Kagome, Ayame and Sango groaned and gagged at the thought of their parents doing anything intimate.

"Oh ew mom I don't want to hear that" Sango gagged

Ayame shuddered "I don't think I will ever unhear that"

"It works on your dad" Izayoi laughed as the girls gagged again before turning serious "I know you lost your family sweetheart but we can be your family. You have a mother and I would never try to replace her but I can be your mom if you would have me"

Serena turned and hugged the woman tightly "yes, I've wanted to be a part of a family again for so long"

"Group hug!" yelled Ayame as the girls all hugged the pair falling to the ground in a giggling heap.

"I always wanted lots of girls, let's get ready and go do some shopping" Izayoi announced "We all need dresses for the benefit and I think your father should pay for it."

***With the boys***

Sesshomaru walked into the dining room with a grumpy Rin in his arms. She hated mornings and always took forever to wake. The girl would sleep the day away if he let her but a few placed tickles and nuzzles then she would wake up eventually. He was disappointed to not see his little star seated. He noticed the other women were missing, they were probably with her listening to her talk about how much of an ass he had to her. Kagome was going to kill him.

"Morning Father" he stated walking to his seat.

"You're in trouble!" teased Shippo

"Shippo!" Inuyasha scolded his son "not your place. Eat your breakfast"

Inuyasha took a sip of his coffee and shot a look at his brother. He knew his mother was a sore subject for him. They were close and it had taken a long while for them to get that way but Sesshomaru hadn't even talked to Inuyasha about his mother. Inuyasha remembered when Kagome and he used to argue constantly because he wouldn't open up about his feelings. It drove her nuts. Until after one particularly bad fight; one where he thought he had lost her, Toga pulled him aside, read him the riot act and reminded him that she was not a demoness. She was human so emotions and talking were important aspects of a relationship to them.

Sesshomaru placed Rin in her chair and got her some breakfast. He looked towards Inuyasha and Shippo.

"Why am I in trouble?" he inquired, though he had a feeling.

Inuyasha shook his head at him, crossing his arms.

"Feh moron, we all heard that fight then your girl fell into Ma's arms crying. You're an idiot"

Sesshomaru stiffened and felt terrible. He made her cry.

He stated plainly "It is none of your concern hanyou"

Toga's fist slammed on the table making everyone but Sesshomaru jump and the table rattle. His eyes were bleeding red, his face scowled in rage.

"Inuyasha take the kids and leave us" he commanded, the tone of his voice leaving no room for discussion.

"Father…" Sesshomaru started

A pair of bleeding red eyes snapped to him, he let out a deep growl.

"Do not start boy" his voice deep and laced with anger.

He knew not to question his Alpha especially when he called him boy. He hadn't referred to him as a boy in that tone of voice since he was a teenager. Inuyasha gathered the kids and left with Koga and Miroku wordlessly. Koga gave him a look of sympathy, he had been at the receiving end of Toga's wrath only once before and he did not envy him. That was a place no one wanted to be.

"Sit boy" he hated being referred to as a boy

Sesshomaru sat across from him silent, waiting to be reamed out. Toga took a deep breath trying to calm his emotions. He clenched and unclenched his claws, he didn't want to argue with his son. He wanted to show him the error of his ways and remind him that he was not that demon anymore. The one who showed no remorse or care for anyone else's wants, needs or feelings.

"I understand your mother's death was difficult for you" Toga began careful not to push too quickly "your relationship was a rollercoaster but you cannot I repeat cannot shut her out. You will lose her if you do, do you want that?"

"Of course not" he answered

"Then stop being so damn stubborn!" slamming his fists on the table again shaking with anger.

"Hn"

Toga's gaze softened at his son

"No one is asking you to become something you aren't but she is to be your mate which means you need to give her something. You don't need to become an open book to all of us but to her? You do. She is not like a demoness, she is warm, and kind and one of the biggest hearts I've seen since…well in a long time."

Sesshomaru sighed and glared at the table.

"I don't know how to do that, to open and be that vulnerable. I did not think I would ever find a mate, I always thought it would be just Rin and I" he said staring up into his father's eyes "I did not think I would ever need anyone but I need her and that is not an emotion I am used to." His eyes held years of pent up guilt. Toga's shoulders sagged remembering the dark days after Rumiko died, he was so cold and angry at everyone. When in reality he hated himself for how their last conversation had gone.

"Your mother knew you loved her you know. That was never in question" Toga said trying to reassure his son "just try, you don't need to tell her your life story but you will be surprised how easy it is once you start. She just wants to know you son"

He nodded curtly, for her he would try. For her, he would do anything. Now that he had her, he wasn't going to let something as foolish as his own pride get in the way.

"I should go talk to her, apologize for…" beginning to stand up. Sesshomaru was going to find her, beg her for forgiveness then tell her as much as he felt comfortable and maybe some he felt uncomfortable telling her about.

"Being an ass?" Toga answered smirking. Sesshomaru nodded.

"Well that's going to be hard" Koga interjected returning to the room hearing that Sesshomaru's reprimand had ended "she just left, took Rin and went shopping with the girls. Also they took your card Toga"

Sesshomaru cursed, rubbing his face. He would have to wait, he could only hope she returned to him shortly. If she returned at all.

Toga slumped in his chair, throwing his head back "my poor card…"

Toga almost fainted the last time his girls had taken his black card out on the town. He would never deny his girls anything they ever wanted but sometimes he felt like they were trying to kill him.

Koga slapped Sesshomaru on the back sensing his distress "she is in good hands and when they come home, you can apologize then."

Sesshomaru nodded casting a glance towards the door. He hoped she would come home.

"She will be back" Koga muttered low for him.

A few hours later, the girls returned loaded with shopping bags, laughing. Sesshomaru stood in the front hall waiting nervously. Another first for him. He smelt her before she even walked in the door, he could pinpoint her scent anywhere. He had spent the entire morning into the afternoon pacing a hole in the floor waiting for her. He texted Kagome a few times to see where they were and she just replied that he was an ass. He wanted to go find her but Toga wouldn't allow it, Serena needed her space and Sesshomaru had to respect that. By the afternoon, Inuyasha had to hide the keys so he wouldn't go find her ensuring she did come home to him.

"Daddy!" Rin yelled running to him. Sesshomaru knelt hugging her close pecking her on the head. His eyes glued to Serena who looked sad and confused. Serena stopped not knowing if she should ignore him or go to him. So she stood frozen to the spot fiddling with her hands.

"Daddy we got the prettiest dresses. Mama looks so pretty too" Rin exclaimed causing Sesshomaru to glance down at his daughter.

Sesshomaru smiled looking back towards his intended.

"I bet she does. Your Mama looks pretty in anything"

Kagome walked over and took Rin's hand

"Come on Rin, let's go show Papa what he bought you and your new dress. Give mama and daddy a chance to talk" she said staring pointedly at Sesshomaru with a look that said "Don't fuck this up." He nodded his thanks. Ayame and Sango took Serena's bags, sending glares to Sesshomaru as they passed by. Izayoi shot him a pitied look which told him everything he needed to know. Man was he in trouble with them.

They stood for a few moments staring at each other. Serena was unsure where they stood, it hurt being away from him knowing they were in a rocky spot. She wasn't sure what this meant for this relationship, she had never been in one before nor a mother to tell her what to expect. Serena was walking in blind and terrified. Sesshomaru was the first to break the silence.

"Can we talk?" motioning to the backyard where they would have privacy.

Serena's heart lurched but she nodded walking past giving him a wide birth. That killed him a little. She walked out past the immense deck and stood on the grass waiting. He watched her for a moment, the sun beaming down as a breeze blew gently through her golden hair. She wore a long maroon maxi dress with a low back, she looked radiant. He strode over to her, standing beside her. Her eyes filled with unshed tears with her arms wrapped around herself, he hated himself for being the cause of any pain.

"I wouldn't have blamed you if you hadn't come home" he started, his voice slightly strained. Sesshomaru had imagined for a moment that the girls would return with the news that she didn't want to see him and wouldn't be coming back to him.

"Why wouldn't I?" she questioned, her eyes glued to the ground. 'Did he not want me to come home?' she thought.

"I was an ass"

She snapped her head towards him, confusion written all over her face.

"What?" That was not what she thought was going to happen.

He inclined his head towards her, his gaze softening

"I do not do vulnerable. But I was unkind and mean to you this morning"

The unshed tears in her eyes spilled over pouring down her face.

"Serena…" he mumbled wrapping his arms around her as she cried "I don't open up to people, that is not something I do. If I have an issue I solve it myself. I do not need anyone"

Serena's heart broke, he didn't need her. She pushed too hard and now Sesshomaru realized he didn't need her in his life. Serena sobbed harder clutching his shirt burying her face into his chest. She was emotionally vulnerable after last night, her heart open and raw.

"Please" she hiccupped "don't leave me."

He looked down at the crying woman in his arms 'leave her?' he thought 'why would she think that?'

Sesshomaru tried to pull away to look at her but she clutched his shirt tighter.

"Look at me" he commanded. Serena shook her head screwing her eyes shut and sobbed into his chest.

"Please don't send me away. Don't leave me alone. I won't ask again I swear!" she stammered out, tearing soaking into his shirt. Sesshomaru put his hands on her hands and pulled it away forcing her to step back.

"What? Why would you think that?" he asked

"You said you don't need anyone which means you don't need me" she whimpered, her face scrunched up in obvious pain.

Sesshomaru grasped her chin forcing her to look up at him. He hated to see her cry and hated himself for being the cause. He could see the heartbreak in her eyes. She thought he was pushing her away, leaving her because of a fight. Not surprising she had been alone before him, Serena had no idea what to expect. He swore to himself that he would never be the cause of her tears again. Sesshomaru brushed them away with his thumbs, kissing her forehead.

"My sweet little star, I am not leaving you because we fought" he sighed hanging his head "This apology is not going as planned"

"Apology?" she sniffled looking confused, her fingers grasping at his shirt. She was desperate to keep him close as she thought he was leaving her. Sesshomaru was not used to needing someone. But he needed her, he didn't even realize it until she had left for the day. He was nervous she wouldn't return to him.

"I made a mistake this morning and I am sorry for ever being the cause of your tears" Sesshomaru began cradling her face, his softened gaze staring down at her "Father pointed out that if I do not change my ways then I could lose you and that would kill me. I've been sitting here while you were gone thinking about all of the things I want to say to you so you'll know exactly how much I love you and I don't know how to put anything into words. This love I feel for you is something I did think existed. Not like this. We have obstacles to overcome but I know we can make it through anything. I adore you my precious little star. You are the light to my darkness."

Sesshomaru leaned down capturing her lips, slipping his hand to the back of her head. He pushed his body flush to hers, wanting to be as close as possible. She clutched his shirt, pulling him towards her. He poured everything into his kiss, wanting her to feel how much he needed her. Pulling away he peppered her face with kisses, she giggled.

"Do you forgive me?" he asked running his nose across her cheek.

"Yes just…" she sighed glancing up at him "you don't need to share everything but try to open up to me please?"

He smiled, she wanted to know him so he would try. For her.

"I want to share all of it with you" he took her arm interlocking it with his "walk with me?" he asked.

She smiled and nodded "yes"

"Good" leading her towards Izayoi's gardens, he could speak freely here without his family hearing them. Breathing deep he started

"My mother's name was Rumiko. Mother was a cold woman who was very much stuck in the past ways of life. She and Father never mated but he needed an heir and she wanted a full-blooded demon child. Thus they made a deal and had me. She wasn't one for affection" he chuckled "she was the polar opposite of Izayoi. She believed emotion and affection were a sign of weakness and weakness was not tolerated. We fought a lot about my choices. She didn't approve that I wanted to follow in Father's footsteps."

"Why?" Serena asked. He looked at her face, she genuinely wanted to know.

"She didn't particularly like Father or his love for humans, she only saw value in his bloodline. She thought humans were weak and should be ruled by demons not coexist harmoniously." He shrugged "she thought I would end up with the same ideals as him. We argued just before she died when I told her I was going to business school and then work at Father's company. She got angry, so did I. She said some things and I said I hated her. She died a few days later. I wasn't there"

Serena gasped. Sesshomaru filled with shame, she lost both her parents and here he was talking about how awful his mother could sometimes be and how he said he hated her. What she must have thought about him. Serena stopped and faced him.

"Look at me" he couldn't.

"Look at me Sesshomaru Taisho" she said firmly holding his face forcing him to look at her "I do not believe for a second she thought that you hated her. Every child wants to be their own person and parents just want to protect them from things they don't understand. She didn't understand humans, clearly. She was probably scared that she may lose you"

Sesshomaru leaned his forehead against hers, relieved she did not look at him in disappointment. He had been mean to her this morning and here she was concerned for him and how he was feeling. Sesshomaru could not love her more, she was the most selfless and caring person he knew. He had been wrong this whole time, opening up to her was not nearly as difficult as he thought. Serena accepted him with love and comfort, not once judging him.

"My little star you are too kind for your own good. Father was right, this is much easier then I thought. I'm sorry I didn't open up this morning, I still have more to learn about being a good mate"

She giggled pecking him on the lips.

"I'll guide you through it" she teased

He growled playfully, wrapping his arms around her tiny waist and lifted her off her feet kissing her. He pulled back and nuzzled her cheek in affection.

"Can you forgive me?" as he breathed in her scent 'I don't think I'll ever tire of this smell'

Serena wrapped her arms around his neck shaking her head "Nothing to forgive. I kept a secret from you that brings nothing but danger"

"You had no choice" Sesshomaru said kissing her cheek, forehead and the other cheek.

"I'm just saying if you can forgive me then I can certainly forgive you"

"What did I do to deserve you?" he questioned capturing her lips in a kiss

"Hmm I don't know" she mumbled against his lips. Sesshomaru dipped her moving his lips in sync with hers, loving how perfectly she fit into him. It was like she was made for him and only him.
