Chapter Thirty-Two: Mating

Sesshomaru nuzzled Serena's face attempting to wake her. It was almost ten o'clock in the morning, everyone had left for the day and Izayoi had the children helping her in the garden. Today was the day. The day he would take her as his mate. The day she would belong to me in the most intimate sense as a demon. The day that demon society recognized them as married.

"Wake up little star" he whispered into her ear

Serena was laying half on his chest, their legs intertwined and her head tucked into the side of his neck. He had his arms wrapped around her small body. As the sun rose, Sesshomaru thought about waking her but she felt so good in his arms and looked beautiful as the sun's rays danced across her skin, he just couldn't. So he let her continue to sleep. Running his nose across her cheek and kissing her lips caused her to groan and burying her face in deeper.

"Five more minutes" she mumbled

He chuckled running his fingers through her hair. Sesshomaru seamlessly flipped them so he leaned over top of her. Her golden hair sprawled out underneath her, he leaned down and kissed her lips. Then trailed soft kisses over her lips, cheeks and eyelids.

"It is time to get up which means you need to open those pretty little eyes for me," he said softly, placing another kiss on her jaw. Serena yawned and stretched underneath him, arching her back. He softly groaned at the sight of her hardened nipples brushing against his bare chest.

"You are mean" she grumbled slowly blinking open her eyes to the devilishly handsome silver-haired demon leaning over of her.

"I have been told but it is already midmorning and we have a busy day ahead of us," he said running a hand up the side of her body to cup her lovely face. Oh, how he wished to tear her clothes away from that delicious little body and ravish her. But he reminded himself that she deserved romance to make her first time special.

Serena looked back at him confused leaning into his touch.

"We do?" she questioned "doing what?"

Serena silently hoped he wouldn't mention Sion, she wanted one more day where she felt like a normal woman. Someone whose biggest issue was what to cook for her family or where they would have a date night. Yesterday, she was spending the day with the man she loved and their daughter. It felt simple and to be honest perfect, which is all she ever wanted.

Sesshomaru smiled "we need to pack, say goodbye to Rin, stop by the office for five minutes and then we will be off"

"Off where?" she asked furrowing her brows in confusion

Pressing his body flush against hers so she could feel every inch of his warm skin and how aroused he was, Sesshomaru kissed her passionately. He suddenly and quickly pulled away hovering just above her.

"To the cottage you spoke of" he whispered "I am taking you as my mate tonight. Marking as mine for all eternity"

A blush spread across Serena's face, her whole body heating up at the prospect of handing over her entire self to him. Mind, body and soul. He would claim her body as his and mark her soul with his essence. Belonging to him in such an intimate manner left her breathless and extremely turned on.

"Really?" she asked hopeful, biting her bottom lip.

Sesshomaru ran his nose down the side of her neck, through the valley between her breasts, down her stomach stopping at her hips. Taking deep breaths in the entire way down. He dug his claws into their bed, his eyelids fluttering as he took in her aroused scent.

Serena stifled a giggle watching Sesshomaru close the bathroom door. It was finally happening. She was going to be his and he was going to be hers. She jumped to her feet to go pack then stopped when she realized she had no lingerie for tonight. It was the first time they would be together in that way and she wanted it to be a night she remembered forever. Quickly grabbing her phone, Serena shot off a text to the girls. Fiddling with her phone, she shot the occasional glance at the bathroom. Sesshomaru was showering and she didn't want him interrupting, she wanted the lingerie to be a surprise.

"SOS I need help!" (Serena)

"What's wrong?" (Kagome)

"Are you okay?" (Ayame)

"What's happening?" (Sango)

"Sessh is taking me away…to become mates"

"YESS!"

"Finally…took him long enough"

"About damn time!"

"Problem though. I have no lingerie for tonight. We've never slept together and I want to make it special. It's my first time"

"Leave it with us, we will get it. Do we need to drop it off?"

"Ohh I know exactly where we can go!"

"No we have to stop by the office first so I can just come to your office and grab it"

"Perfect! I'll keep it safe and hidden. Sango, Ayame meet me downstairs in five minutes?"

Serena sighed feeling much better, everything would be perfect. Sesshomaru returned from his shower, a towel hanging low on his hips, he looked delicious. Her arousal spiked as her blue eyes raked over his body. That man was craved by the gods themselves, she was sure of it. All she wanted to do was run her tongue over the plains of his chest down to the V leading under his towel.

Sesshomaru chuckled "my little minx, if you don't wish for me to take you right here right now then I suggest you get dressed"

Serena stood slowly, sashaying her way over to him, he trailed her finger up his chest. Sesshomaru growled softly, that bottom lip was begging to be sucked on.

"Little Star…" he warned

"Yes?" she responded looking at him all innocent and full of sex. How did she do that? She had this ability to looked a vixen and an angel at the same time.

His hand gripped her fingers tightly but not enough to hurt her.

"You play with fire" leaning close, their lips almost touching.

"Not my fault, I can't help touching you…especially when you look like that" she whispered. A quick kiss to his lips, Serena pulled her fingers away and ducked under his arm. Sesshomaru groaned loudly.

"We can't leave soon enough" he called after her retreating form.

Dressing in a tight black t-shirt and dark blue jeans, trying to forget the feel of her fingers on his skin and the spicy smell of her arousal. Pulling on a pair of mahogany leather boots, he packed his leather weekend bag with extra clothes and his toiletries. He already called his father making sure the ring was ready and exactly to his specifications. Tog assured him it was perfection and everything he wanted, she would love it. Toga had everything he needed for his proposal packed, tomorrow Kagome and Inuyasha would come and set it all up for him. He just had to make sure they were out of the house and away for most of the day.

"I'm ready" Serena announced strolling into their bedroom carrying her packed weekend bag. He smiled, she looked stunning standing there in a grey t-shirt dress that hugged every curve. She layered a khaki cropped military jacket, her delicate feet slipped into a pair of sandals.

"You always take my breath away," Sesshomaru said standing up walking over to her. She looked up at him, biting her lip.

"I could say the same thing, you look…" she paused "delicious"

He chuckled pushing her hair away from her face placing a kiss on her lips. If they didn't leave soon, they wouldn't be leaving and he wanted the moment he took her as his mate to be everything she had dreamt it to be.

"Come my naughty little star" his voice a little strained, his pants visible tightening. He smacked her ass causing her to yelp.

Serena and Sesshomaru said goodbye to Izayoi and Shippo, taking extra care and time to say goodbye to Rin. Serena smothered Rin in kisses, repeatedly telling her how much they loved her. Rin was more excited to spend time with Koga and Ayame who had forcibly pushed to be the ones to babysit her. They wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. Both her parents knew that they would spoil her with whatever she wanted despite their insistence that they do not do that. They didn't want Rin to become entitled. Koga just waved them off saying he could do whatever he wanted, Serena kindly asked Ayame to make sure he didn't go too far.

When they pulled into Sesshomaru's parking spot, he turned to face his intended.

"I just need to talk to father for a few minutes, I don't want you to stay in the car alone though," he said, hoping he didn't offend her. He just wanted her safe and if she was close to him than he could keep her safe.

"I know, I need to see Kagome anyways" Serena replied taking his hand "I won't leave her office until you come get me okay?"

Sesshomaru stepped out of his Audi and kissed her hand.

"Since when did you become so obedient?" he inquired narrowing his gaze at her

Serena laughed walking towards the elevator knowing full well he was watching the sway of her hips and the way her dress clung to her ass.

"Don't get use to it, mister" she called over her shoulder

Sesshomaru grabbed her around the waist pulling her flush to his body. He nipped at the sensitive skin behind her ear causing her to shudder and let out a small gasp.

"You test my patience" he growled in return letting his hands trail down the curves of her body, teasing the side of her breast.

Serena took a short and quick breath in closing her eyes and letting her head fall back against him. She let herself feel every inch of skin his fingertips brushed against, like tiny fireworks going off every time he moved.

Sesshomaru leaned his head down right beside her ear, his hands resting on her stomach right above her womanhood.

Serena burst through Kagome's office door, slamming it behind her and leaned back.

"I'm not going to make it Kagome" She rambled tangling her fingers into her blonde hair "I swear I am about this close" pinching her fingers so close together they were almost touching "to ripping off his clothes and mounting him"

Serena collapsed into the closest chair and began to fan herself. Kagome burst out laughing at her flustered face.

"Taisho men have that effect, I almost mated Inuyasha in his car once" she explained

'Ugh I want him so bad' she thought thinking of all the ways he could take her. Bent over his desk. On top of him in the front seat of his car. Against the wall. In the shower. The options were endless and they were playing on a loop in her head.

"Well," Kagome interrupted her daydream "this will help tonight, classy but still very sexy. It will blow his mind" passing over a bag from The Seductress.

Serena peered inside and a blush crept onto her face. She couldn't wait to show him what it looked like on her body. It would be a great surprise.

"Thanks, Kagome, I'm nervous but excited"

Kagome nodded "understandable, I was too the first time. Though I know after I mated Inuyasha, we spent like three days just making love. Over and over. I couldn't get enough of him. It must be an Inu thing"

Serena giggled lightly covering her cheeks.

Kagome turned serious for a moment "Not to ruin the moment but I feel like as your sister, I need to tell you something about once you become Sesshomaru's mate"

Fiddling with her fingers, Serena got suddenly very nervous

"Don't worry" Kagome reassured, reaching out to hold her hand "once you are his mate, your safety is the most important priority to him. If you or your pups are hurt then his sole focus will to be find the person who hurt them and make them pay. If you put yourself in danger because let's face it" giving Serena that telling look "you will just to protect someone else, his beast will not be pleased. His beast will feel the need to establish dominance, show you that he is your Alpha and you belong to him. Does that make sense?"

Serena nodded taking in this new information. Sometimes she felt like she still had so much to learn.

"Thanks, Kagome, I appreciate you guiding me through all this. I will remember that and try not to get into trouble…try" she teased

"I'm really glad you are in our family Sere" Kagome smiled reaching across her desk to hold Serena's hand "he'd never say it but I think Sesshomaru was lonely before you. Now? You've changed him, letting the real Sesshomaru shine through. He locked it all behind the high walls of ice-cold mannerisms, but now we get to see what we know he could be like. I just hope you know how much we love you. You are not just his mate, you will always be our sister, their daughter and her mom"

Serena stifled a sob. Her words were everything she had needed and wanted to hear. Standing she pulled Kagome into a hug who hugged her back just as tightly.

"I needed to hear that...more than you know" she whispered. The nightmares were continuous and brutal every time. But hearing those words made her feel brave, like she could survive this. It also gave her the feeling that she would do whatever it took to protect the new life she had finally been given, even if that meant having to endure this alone. Reminding herself that she chose to endure it alone. To protect her family.

Kagome chuckled "I know, I'm your sister. I always know. How are you though? After everything that has happened, I know I keep asking you that…" she trailed off

Serena sighed plopping back down into her seat "I am trying to be okay. Trying to move past it all and remember that I am loved, cared for and protected. That night was terrifying in the worst ways, he made me feel small and weak"

"But you aren't" Kagome interrupted "You are stronger than you could ever know. You have walked through fire and came out the other side with determination in your eyes and strength in your heart. You are loved by all of us so when you feel like you can stand tall then we will hold you up and remind you of how far you have come, okay sister?"

Blinking away the unshed tears, Serena simply nodded and whispered how much she loved Kagome.

A knock at the door ended their conversation abruptly. Sesshomaru poked his head in, smiling at the two.

"Are you ready to go?" he asked

Serena nodded giving Kagome a final hug and hiding the bag behind her back.

"Yes" turning one last time to Kagome "thank you again….for it all"

Sesshomaru drove for hours, out of the city and through the countryside. He had one hand on the steering wheel and the other held Serena's hand, placing the occasional kiss on the back of her hand. He glanced over at his soon to be mate and smiled, she was leaning back with her eyes closed. A soft smile graced her lips as the wind blew through the car, lifting her golden hair slightly. Humming and singing along to the music on the radio, Serena let the moment wash over her. She wasn't thinking about Sion or the nightmares but rather her thoughts centred on how much she loved Sesshomaru.

When she was with him, she acted differently. In a good way. She smiled more and laughed often. She didn't have to pretend that everything was okay when it wasn't, something she had done for decades. With him, she could drop the fake smile and put on a real one. She didn't feel so hurt and alone but rather felt safe and loved. Sesshomaru was easy to talk to and she knew he was always listening to her. Taking in every word and paying attention to them. She didn't have to worry about holding back with him, revealing her darkest secrets to him. She didn't feel self-conscious. Serena loved him so deeply and appreciated everything about him because, with him, she was different. With him, she was finally truly happy.

After several hours on the road, they stopped for a quick dinner in some nondescript town. They chatted about Rin, the future and things they wanted to do after it was safe. It felt normal and mundane but there was this layer of unspoken want and need. The want to be more intimate was intense and the need to finally be at their destination, every touch made it increasingly difficult for the pair.

Sesshomaru passed through a small town, following Serena's directions out of the village's limits, passing a small farm before turning into the driveway of her cottage. It was a small white wooden cottage framed by flowers and porch swing. The grounds were covered in gorgeous flowers and a stone path winding through the garden down to the vast wooden area. Sesshomaru pulled his sunglasses away from his face taking it all in

"It is beautiful my little star," he said admiring the view from the driveway. It was like something out of one of Rin's fairytale books. Enchanting in a sense.

Grabbing their bags, he followed her lead inside. They kicked off their shoes and Serena padded into the living room spreading her arms open.

"So this is where I grew up…" she began fidgeting "I never sold it after Luna died, it's the closest thing I had to home"

She looked around basking in the memories she had created with Luna there. From the initial nights when she would sleep wrapped in the woman's arms crying to the endless days of training to watching movies and laughing over a bowl of popcorn. This house was saturated in memories of her long life, Sesshomaru could almost see a teenage Serena curled on the couch reading or dancing around the kitchen making cookies late at night. He wanted to add to those memories.

Sesshomaru put the bags down closing the distance between them wrapping his arms around her frame. He nuzzled the side of her face kissing her forehead.

"It will stay in our family for as long as you wish it," he told her firmly. He could see them taking vacations here with their children, Serena teaching them to bake cupcakes and running around the backyard. Serena smiled at him, Sesshomaru was home to her and she was ready to be his for eternity.

Rising to her tiptoes, she kissed him slipping her arms around his waist letting her lips move and mould to his. They fit together perfectly. His large hand came to cradle the back of her head deepening their kiss. Running her tongue across his bottom lip, she begged for entrance. Smirking he slipped his tongue into her mouth.

'I love how she gives control solely to me' he thought exploring her mouth.

She moaned against him causing his hand to grip her head, his lips moving against her, their tongues tangling around one another. When they pulled away they were both panting, their eyes filled with desire and a desperate need. Sesshomaru golden eyes were a deep amber.

"Well I was thinking you would give me a tour first but…" he teased raking his eyes down her body

Pulling him by the hand, she gave him a quick tour of her home. She showed him pictures of her and Luna over the years. Pictures of them on vacation, in the backyard and sitting on the couch together looking perfectly normal. Sesshomaru's favourite was one of her sitting on the ledge of a fountain laughing in a white summer dress. She looked maybe eighteen in the photo, so young, carefree and happy. He declared he was going to keep it.

Noticing an old record player, Sesshomaru made an impromptu decision. He wanted her in his arms for a moment. He popped on a record and offered his hand to her. Whisking Serena into his arms, he spun her around the small living room. Twirling and dipped her body eliciting giggles to fall from her lips. This was how he always wanted her to look, unburdened, carefree, and in love and happy. He wished they could stay in this bubble forever, raising Rin and any other pups with a simple life. Sesshomaru pulled her close swaying slowly to the music. They may have only a few days here but he would make sure she worried for nothing and they made the most of every moment. He raised his hand and brushed it across her cheek. Sesshomaru wanted routine with her. He wanted waking up in the morning to the sun shining or the rain pouring with her. He wanted home with her, wanted family nights and too much to drink with her. He wanted slow dancing in their living room, in their home with her. He wanted her forever. Grabbing her around the middle, Sesshomaru captured her lips feverishly kissing her. He moved against her, pouring all he felt into that moment and his lips against hers so she would feel his love in her bones and her soul.

Slowly separating Serena's chest was heaving and her eyes hooded, she was ready.

"Wait here for a moment?" she asked

He nodded moving to sit on the couch, pulling out his phone. Serena grabbed her bag and brought it into her bedroom, setting it on her bed. Closing the sliding doors, she took a deep breath looking around her old room. The room held a king-size canopy bed with a cream coloured duvet, the walls painted a muted light blue with a wooden dresser lining one wall. Her old desk lined the other, books stacked on top and photos hung on the wall. Large windows covered the two walls with white curtains hanging. Serena pulled the bag Kagome gave her and got undressed, she carefully put on the lingerie the girls had bought her.

Serena slipped on the white lace cheeky panties and matching lace bralette, they pushed her breasts up. The cups were completely see-through and made her skin look even creamier than it already did. "I'm going to have a drink okay?" he called

"Okay my love!" she replied, running her hands along the delicate fabric. She knew it wasn't going to stay long on her body or at least she hoped it didn't. She didn't want to wait any longer to be claimed fully as his.

The sun was beginning to set casting streams of pink and gold light into the room, spreading across the floor and the bed. It cast a romantic glow within the space. Serena lit a few candles around the room. Glancing once more around the room, she smiled. It was perfect and exactly as she pictured giving herself mind, body and soul to her match. The one made for her by the stars. Standing in front of the doors, she took a deep breath and pulled them open.

Sesshomaru sat back on the couch nursing a glass of scotch from the bottle he found in the kitchen.

'Of course she has scotch' he thought amusingly

He had already texted Kagome and Inuyasha letting them know, they had made it. He also checked in on Rin through Koga who informed him she was having a blast with her aunt and uncle. She was in bed and talked animatedly about how happy she was that Serena would be her mama forever. Sesshomaru quickly ended the conversation when Koga tried to give him advice on pleasing a woman. He needed no assistance in that department, he knew Serena's body inside out and what made her toes curls in pleasure.

The doors to her bedroom slid open and he looked over as he was raising his glass to his lips. His glass stopped midway to his mouth. His breath stopped in his throat.
