Appearance: Ruby is a fair-skinned young girl with silver eyes and neck-length black hair with red tips. She stands at 5'4", and weighs about 100 lbs.

Bio: Ruby is the daughter of police officer Summer Rose and former officer Taiyang Xiao Long, as well as the younger half-sister of Yang Xiao Long, with whom she was raised in a small house in Vale.

When she was very young, Ruby's parents would tell her stories about what they did in their line of work and Yang would read her fairy tales every night before bed, filled with the deeds of great heroes; this would later inspire Ruby's decision to become a superhero.

Things would take a dark turn in Ruby's life, however, when she woke up to find her father sitting by herself holding a piece of paper. It was a note left by Summer, saying that she had to leave, though for what reason, she couldn't say, only that it was to keep them safe. Despite this new development, Ruby continued on in life with a smile on her face. Though her mother was now gone, Ruby did not let this down her spirit; she knew that as long as her mother was still alive, she had hope that she'd see her again in the future.

Ruby would grow to become an exceptional student at Beacon Academy, and would make many good friends, the closest of which were Kaine Morgan and Jaune Arc. Throughout the months since they met, they would get into all kinds of shenanigans at school or at home. One day, however, Ruby's life would be forever changed after being caught in an explosion at the unveiling of Schnee Industries' newest invention. Being hit by a wave of cosmic radiation, Ruby would find herself having been granted the ability to move faster than the eye could see. Seeking to follow the example set by her parents and spurned by the stories of heroism she would always her, Ruby sought to use this new gift for the good of others, a notion shared by her sister and some of her friends. Others were not so keen on the idea, however, but after a literal lifesaving moment, they were convinced of the good they could do with their powers. Donning a black and red outfit modeled after one of her favorite superheroes, Ruby became the resident speedster of the superhero team, Team Meta.

As Velocity, Ruby's speed and quick wits have gotten the team out of many scrapes, and though she can be impulsive and quick to jump the gun, her big heart and unwavering optimism make her the glue that holds the team together.

Personality

Ruby is an interesting individual. From a young age, she displayed nothing but a joyful outlook on life, even after her mother's disappearance, she did not let it shake her spirit. Ruby is seldom seen without a smile on her face, the rare occasion she is being an indication that something has severely affected her. However, that's not to say that she doesn't have issues, just that she puts on a mask so people don't notice; this trait is what led her and Kaine to become such close friends, as they both have difficulty opening up and letting others see their vulnerabilities.

She has also shown a distinct lack of ability to pick up social cues due to being a very open and honest person. This results in her inability to pick up sarcasm and failing to act formally.

Ruby is a self-proclaimed dork with a love for comics, especially those that involve superheroes. She is also quite intelligent, having designed and built a model car in an Engineering class and helping to create flashsuits for herself and her teammates to be able to quickly change into their costumes.

Ruby has a strong sense of moral justice, a trait she obtained from stories about heroes and monsters that her sister used to read for her, as well as the way her parents raised her. These stories are what gave her the ideals that she wished to live by and uphold throughout her life, and are the reason for her love for books. Because she is shown to be childish even when in class, she tends to study by herself to cover the necessary knowledge.

Ruby is shown to be naïve, often believing that there is good in everybody regardless of what evil actions they may commit and being overly trusting of people. This has lessened to a degree due to her experiences in battle. To add to that, Ruby often has trouble interacting with people she isn't familiar with. This is mostly because of her childish nature and lack of social grace, as she can be bad-mannered (only out of ignorance) and sometimes speaks without thinking. However, because of her enthusiastic personality, she can become very good friends with people who share her enthusiasm.

After becoming a metahuman, Ruby's personality stayed more or less the same. She displays more confidence than she does in her normal guise, taking a page from Dynamo's book and taunting opponents and having a devil may care attitude. She can still be impulsive and often rushes into things without thinking, a habit she is struggling to break. She is also hyperactive (more than usual) and gets impatient really easily.

That said, Ruby's heroism and bravery are beyond question, bringing a laid-back, down-to-earth quality to Team Meta. She is in many ways the team's most idealistic member, as her friendliness and compassion serve as the "glue" that holds the disparate team of heroes together. These qualities are best illustrated by events in a dark alternate future, in which her death led to her teammates becoming disillusioned with heroics, some (namely Kaine) even becoming violent vigilantes.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Metahuman Physiology: After being hit by a wave of cosmic radiation, Ruby's DNA was permanently altered. The radiation permeated and supercharged her cells and enhanced her entire physiology, granting her tremendous power. Velocity is listed as a level 10 metahuman with highly destructive potential; using Marvel power classifications, she can be considered an Omega level or Beyond Omega level superhuman. As a speedster, Ruby is extremely powerful, being possibly one of the most powerful beings in existence.

Velocity has displayed the following powers:

Bio-Kinetic Dynamo: It has been revealed that Ruby's powers, originally thought to be superspeed, are actually a byproduct of her true power as a bio-kinetic transformer. Ruby's body is constantly generating kinetic energy from her cells, accelerating her molecular motion, and granting her the powers she has. Due to all energies being a byproduct of or related to kinetic energy, Ruby has the potential to control all forms of energy along the EM Spectrum, however, she has yet to try and channel her bodily energy into any other form.

Superhuman Speed: Rubyis capable of moving at incredible superhuman speeds. While running, she can only be perceived as a blur. She is capable of keeping up with Photon, who can move at the speed of light, and was fast enough to buy and eat a hotdog without anyone noticing she left the room. She's so fast, in fact, that time seems to slow down around her, making her appear to be invisible to others within their relative time frame. Ruby has been stated as being able to run across the entire world in only 20 seconds. She has also moved fast enough to the point that lasers (focused light energy) appeared to be frozen in time. Ruby's so fast that even when time is frozen around her, she's still capable of moving. Ruby often holds back her speed out of fear of hurting others, and subconsciously limits herself in what she can do, but Ruby's potential is out of this world.

Afterimages/Speed Clones: By moving fast enough between multiple spaces, Ruby can create illusions of herself to make it appear as if she in many places at once, when in reality she is simply bouncing back and forth too fast for the human mind to perceive the difference. She can create dozens of after-images, allowing her to disorientate her enemies and then catch them off guard. For experts of this ability, these mirages temporarily make a speedster be in two places at once.

Superhuman Reflexes: Ruby 's reaction time is augmented to superhuman levels. Her great reflexes have allowed him to perform feats such as dodging lightning. Her body sends pain messages to her brain at such a velocity that the femtosecond he feels something, she will react.

Superhuman Endurance: Ruby's bones, joints, and muscle tissue have all been augmented, allowing her to handle the stress of moving at superhuman speeds for long periods of time without getting tired or weak. She can run for days on end without being impeded by fatigue toxins, and once she was able to maintain being in a vibrated state for 10 hours while being hit with intense gravitational pressure before passing out.

Superhuman Reflexes: Ruby 's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels. This allows her to easily maneuver and leap far distances while moving at superhuman speed.

Superhuman Strength: Ruby can use her speed to amplify her natural strength. She was strong enough to push a truck that was carrying ten people, while running at super speed. Titania, whose skin is as hard as diamond, has described a punch from Ruby as "like being hit by a runaway freight train, only it actually hurts."

Frictionless Aura: Velocity's body is surrounded by a "friction cushion", a field of kinetic absorbent energy that protects her and anyone who is running with or carried by her from the rigorous effects of using her speed. This includes friction, airborne particulate matter, heavy impacts, G-Force, and the like.

Superhuman Durability: Thanks to her protective aura, Ruby is capable of resisting tremendous kinetic impact forces that could easily crush or kill a human, without suffering any serious external or internal injuries. She was able to plow through the steel wall of a subway train and strike Omega, a level 20 metahuman of immense power, hard enough to send him flying, both without sustaining any injury to herself.

Accelerated Healing: Due to the constant kinetic charge running through her body, Ruby's molecules move at accelerated rates, mending damage far quicker and more efficiently than normal humans. Without treatment, most damage heals in hours if not minutes with no lingering signs. Even normally permanent damage, like paraplegia, is completely repaired in days. Her hand quickly healed within minutes of being shattered, and she was able to heal from being severely burned by fire. She even has a greater resilience to radiation, only suffering minor burns. Her metabolism can also burn through almost, if not any drug or toxin introduced into her system, making her highly resistant to poisons and other harmful substances.

Superhuman Longevity: Due to her accelerated healing, Ruby ages much slower than normal humans; for example, in a future timeline, an adult Ruby had been alive for over a century, yet looked to only be in her late 30s.

Aerokinesis: By rotating her arms at super speed or running in a circular motion, Ruby can create strong vortexes of wind. She has used the slipstream of airflow created by her speed t hold back a tsunami.

Electrokinesis: The kinetic energy her body generates causes Ruby's body to build up a static charge, which can be released as powerful blasts of electricity. Ruby can channel the electricity to enhance her strikes, generate heat to provide warmth, as well as electrocute people on contact. When generated at high volumes, Ruby's electrical energy is powerful enough to produce an EMP, disrupt magnetic fields, and even affect non-corporeal beings. Ruby can also absorb electricity from other sources, simultaneously protecting her while also boosting her speed.

Electromagnetism: Due to her electrical abilities, Ruby is able to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum to some extent. She has been able to use her control over magnetism to immobilize Ironhide and can even use her lightning to create electromagnetic fields.

Energy Transformation: When using excess amounts of kinetic energy, Ruby enters a supercharged state where she essentially becomes pure energy. While in this state, Ruby's powers are heightened and she can move so fast, that she can exist on multiple planes of reality at once. According to Dynamo and Ice Queen, if she wasn't careful, she'd run the risk of hurting himself and/or anyone around her.

Photokinesis: Ruby is able to generate blinding amounts of light through her lightning.

Power Negation: By directing her electricity through a metahuman's brain or nervous system, Ruby can short-circuit their powers.

Enhanced senses: Ruby's bio-kinetic energies grant her enhanced senses that allow her to perceive the world at a rate attuned to her reaction speed. She can feel the slightest changes in air pressure around him, as well as electromagnetic pulses, in objects such as glass. She can also sense the bio-electricity in others and track them through their auras.

Enhanced Vision: Ruby was able to vibrate her eyes fast enough in order to "see" the hard energies that made up monster constructs she was fighting. She also has an expanded sight/seeing range, anything that falls within this seeing range she can see instantaneously from, this means she can see things before the light from them even reaches the pupil of her eye. While vibrating at superspeed, Ruby could see a metahuman who could shift between dimensions to turn invisible. She can perceive ghosts and other entities that are not visible to other people.

Enhanced Hearing: Ruby's sense of hearing is highly sensitive to vibrational frequencies. She can hear a person's heartbeat, footsteps, and breathing; she can even hear sounds of such high or low frequencies that others can't hear them.

Bodily Vibration/Molecular Acceleration: Ruby can vibrate her own molecular structure at varying degrees for a number of purposes, by adjusting to different frequencies. Ruby often does this to disguise her voice or blur her face when her mask is removed. Her vibrations can expel any toxins that are in her body, and she can also generate enough heat to recover and stay thermally insulated from extreme cold. Offensively, Ruby can vibrate her limbs to pass through a person's body and attack their internal organs; alternatively, she can incapacitate opponents by vibrating her fist as she strikes them and conducting the vibrations through their body.

Seismokinesis: By vibrating at varying frequencies and with different levels of force, Ruby can create small tremors to induce extreme amounts of jolt on any target she touches, even disrupt an object's inter-molecular bonds and cause it to shatter. Ruby has often used this to perform a thunderclap, in which she vibrates her hands as she claps them together to generate a sonic boom. Her vibrations can even cause objects to explode through molecular combustion.

Intangibility: By vibrating her molecules at a high enough frequency, Ruby can make her body intangible and phase through objects. She can also use this to bypass dangers, such as explosions.

Invisibility: Ruby can vibrate her body at such an intense frequency that she falls out of the visible light spectrum. This renders her completely invisible to the human eye.

Thermokinesis: Ruby can use her vibrations to generate intense heat capable of melting steel. She can also utilize her control over kinetic energy to drastically affect temperatures.

Speed Theft: Ruby can absorb the kinetic energy from other people's bodies, effectively stealing their speed. She used this to defeat Hermes (the metahuman) by draining his body's kinetic acceleration and has even stopped bullets in mid-air by draining their inertia.

Speed Sharing: On top of stealing speed, Ruby also has the ability to "share" it. This is done by channeling kinetic energy into an object to grant it motion or enhance its existing momentum. By extending her kinetic aura to another person, Ruby can lend her speed to them, allowing them to move, think, and heal as fast as herself, having once done so to heal Dynamo after his eyes had been slashed.

Superhuman Mental Process:Due to the kinetic energy channeled throughout her body, Ruby's neurotransmitters and synapses are accelerated, enhancing her mind to superhuman levels. Because of this, Ruby can think exponentially faster than any normal human, and is able to process information at an abnormal rate. This lets her learn in a small fraction of normal time, able to read and familiarize herself with martial arts within seconds. This also makes her heavily resistant, if not immune, to psychic attacks and mind control, due to her mind moving at such a fast rate.

Speed Mind: By channeling kinetic energy directly into her brain, Ruby's neural processes will become further enhanced to the point her mind will perceive time as being severely slowed or completely stopped. This means that while a person would technically be moving in normal time, for Ruby it will be as if they are standing completely still. This gives her ample time to tactically assess and predict the numerous possible and probable outcomes of almost any given situation. By playing advanced variable examinations within her head, she can simulate a quick pre-play sequence of a number of causes, effects, and inevitable outcomes at an accelerated rate. Ruby's speed mind has also allowed her to instantly learn to operate a futuristic weapon and even create an antidote to a metagene-targeting virus.

Chronokinesis: During a battle against Chronos, a time-controlling metahuman, Ruby realized that her powers allowed her to defy and even alter the flow of time. This includes accelerating time, slowing it down, rewinding it, and even traveling through the timestream. Ruby has also traveled through hypertime, the point where all divergent timelines and realities exist. Because of her ability to time travel, Ruby can potentially alter timelines by traveling to a point in the past and altering events. She once attempted to do this in order to prevent her mother's disappearance, and her and Dynamo's future selves did this in order to avert their dark future.

EM Spectrum Manipulation (latent): Due to her power over kinetic energy, Ruby has potential to affect the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Various if not all energies in the EM Spectrum are governed by kinetic energy, this means that Ruby has the potential to generate and control energies such as infrared and microwaves by increasing molecular agitation. Her control over electricity can also allow her to generate and control electromagnetic radiation and radio waves. She has yet to display this ability on her own, but her future counterpart demonstrated this by using microwaves to scramble circuitry and tap into phone signals.

Matter Manipulation (latent): Due to her kinetic energy, Ruby has the ability to affect the molecular structure of objects. All matter is composed of molecules and molecules are always moving and producing kinetic energy. This would mean that if Ruby were to learn the full extent of her powers, she could control the movement of molecules in any substance, granting her total control of their structure, form, and shape. This gives her the potential to manipulate anything in the universe that has mass, from earthly elements to planets and other astronomical features. Her future self demonstrated this by restructuring scrap metal into a working vehicle and attacking Omega by causing him to experience molecular dissolution.

Weaknesses

Hyper-Metabolism: As a side effect of her powers, Ruby's metabolism is hyper-accelerated, causing her to burn calories much faster than a normal person. While breaking down food far more efficiently, it requires her to consume large amounts of nutrients. Continued usage of her powers while deprived renders her weakened. Also, she is unaffected by sedatives or anesthetics as she metabolizes them too quickly to have any affect. After naturally increasing her powers and learning to metabolize energy, her performance noticeably increased, requiring much less nourishment in-between her meta exploits.

Power Instability: While often protected, Ruby's powers can cause severe harm to her if pushed. Once having run so fast that she was nearly been torn apart by the friction and she had once become out of sync with reality and nearly faded away to nothing.

Negative Energies: Ruby's powers are of a positive frequency, as such she is vulnerable to energies operating on an opposite charge. When venturing into the Dark World, Ruby's powers gradually weakened the longer she remained. Dynamo's negative energies also make her sick and severely affect her powers.

Cold temperatures: Because speed is produced by a build-up of heat in the target's atoms, Ruby is vulnerable to extreme cold temperatures. Under these conditions, Ruby's speed will be greatly reduced. Also, direct exposure to such cold will temporarily stunt her healing capacities. However, since learning to regulate her body temperature with a buildup of energy, she has a much higher resilience to cold.

Kinetic energy absorption: Because Ruby's powers are derived from movement, the removal of the kinetic energy she builds up will leave him in a state of temporary paralysis. However, if she can build back up enough kinetic energy within herself, the effect can be negated instantly.

Velocity Suit: Velocity's suit is similar in design to Jesse Quick's, only it is colored red and black rather than red and gold. The suit is made from reinforced tri-polymer and is heat and abrasive resistant, organically designed to replace firefighter turnouts. Adding to its composition is an adaptable nanofibrous material designed to protect her from the harmful effects of her powers and allowing her to survive in certain environments.

Power Gauntlets: Velocity was given gauntlets designed to store and channel her kinetic energy for direct use in combat. She can use the gauntlets to produce powerful vibrational blasts and manipulate electromagnetic energies. She prefers to use her powers naturally rather than use technology, but she often at times will still use them if the need arises.
