Real Name: Weiss Schnee

Alias: Ice Queen

Other Aliases: Snow White, Ms. Prissy, Frosty

Species: Metahuman

Appearance: Weiss is a pale-skinned young woman with pale blue eyes and long white hair that is often pulled back into an off-center ponytail or braid on the right side and fastened with a silver, icicle-shaped hairpin. She stands at 5' 3" (1.6 meters) in heels, and has a scar which runs vertically down her left eye and face, gained during a sparring "accident" with her father, Jacques Schnee.

Bio: Weiss was born as an heiress to Schnee Industries, one of the world's leading companies in innovative technology, which her father currently controls. Her upbringing was a sad, difficult one; her father would constantly control every facet of her life, pushing her to be perfect in every way. Weiss only wanted to be a normal girl and live her life as any other, but was forced to submit to her father's desires. She pushed herself to strive and excel in every activity, from singing to dancing to fencing, and though she would always receive praise from the rest of her family and from others, she seemed to always be unable to gain the approval and recognition of her father.

As she grew older, Weiss would be burdened with more and more tasks, more responsibilities, and she would deal with them all flawlessly, but despite all her efforts, it was never good enough for her father. One day, while in a fencing session, Weiss' father slashed her across the eye; though likely accidental, he showed no remorse for the injury, simply stating that it was a result of her showing weakness, something an heiress of the SI should never show. Thankfully, her eye was still functional, but she now sported a permanent scar across her face. It was at this moment that Weiss realized that she was nothing but an asset to her father, simple tool for him to mold to his liking, but never to be loved or appreciated.

This realization, along with the stresses placed upon her, drove Weiss into a depression; she would isolate herself from her family, she would barely eat any food that was brought to her, and she would often be slacking in her responsibilities. All of her motivation was gone, only her fear of drawing her father's ire kept her from dropping everything altogether; she would hide her pain behind a stone-cold shell, but when alone, Weiss would let out her misery the only way she could. Nobody ever questioned why Weiss suddenly began to wear long-sleeved shirts and jeans, nobody ever noticed the scars that marked her body; nobody but herself.

Weiss would eventually become a student at Beacon Academy High School, despite her father's wishes for her to enroll in a private school. Seeking to distance herself from her father's selfish desires and escape from the expectations she was burdened by, the heiress immediately accepted the headmaster's invitation. Her first days in Beacon were difficult; her icy demeanor and haughty attitude led her to quickly become isolated from the other students, and her reputation didn't help either. However, not all saw an outcast in the heiress; one student approached her, a girl by the name of Ruby Rose who seemed determined to befriend her, despite her initial attempts to drive her away. Ruby treated her with kindness and eventually introduced her to her other friends who all welcomed the heiress despite some of them knowing who she was and the reputation of her father's company.

Things began to look up for Weiss: for once in the whole time she had been alive, she had friends, friends that would often drive her up the wall, but friends nonetheless. For the first time in years she was not alone, she was happy. Unfortunately, Weiss' normal life would soon be permanently changed after an incident involving the latest invention of her father's company. After being bombarded by cosmic radiation, Weiss would find that everything around her froze to ice, a sick mockery of the void that had been in her heart. Thankfully, she would discover that she wasn't alone as her friends had also begun to display unique abilities; Kaine, often her greatest annoyance next to Ruby and Yang, suggested using their powers to become superheroes, an idea Weiss initially scoffed at. However, her mind was hanged after witnessing him selflessly risk his own life to save a child, and she agreed to give the superhero gig a try.

Donning a blue costume designed to suit her cold projections, became Team Meta's resident Ice Queen and leader. As Ice Queen, Weiss gives the term cold shoulder a new meaning; being able to lower the temperatures around her, she can flash freeze anyone or anything and turn them to icicles. Her leadership, while strong, can often cross boundaries and lead her to butt heads with her teammates, and she still has much to learn about herself and her powers. Fortunately, she has her friends to help her along the way.

Personality

As stated by many of her teammates, Weiss is a difficult person to like. Due to her upbringing, she can often be very crude and abrasive to others, especially upon first meetings. It is possible that her cold nature is a result of her harsh past, putting up a rough exterior to hide her pain and loneliness. Kaine once said that Weiss is "nice but can also be a little bit bitchy." She is irritable and confident in her abilities, though also acknowledges her deficiencies and the need to hone her skills further. Her confidence in her skills and intellect often comes off as arrogance to others.

Weiss takes her education more seriously than her teammates, taking notes in class even when the topic is not related to the knowledge she seeks as well as studying while on break. She equates such dedication in the classroom with dedication in the field. Thus, she is annoyed at those who do not take things seriously (or those she perceives as such), especially when it comes to their jobs as superheroes. Weiss remains calm and tactical during battle and mentally coaches herself. She is thoughtful and fights with precision and coordination.

Weiss is an exceptional leader, but her abrasiveness and condescending attitude can often lead to her butting heads with her teammates on more than one occasion. Despite this, she cares greatly for them and will not hesitate to put her life on the line for them.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Metahuman Physiology: After being exposed to a surge of cosmic radiation, Weiss' physiology was permanently altered. The energy permeating her cells supercharged her DNA and her body's chemical makeup was altered in such a way that she now generates organic ice-like cells, augmenting her tissues and internal structure to be able to survive in extreme temperatures, including those of absolute zero. Ice Queen is registered as a metahuman of untapped potential, capable of affecting the entire planet and its climate if she ever fully realized her powers. Weiss' powers seem to have no upper limit, and only seem to grow stronger by the minute.

Thermokinesis: Ice Queen has the ability to lower both her external and internal body temperature, which projects intense coldness from her body. Like any normal human being, the nerve centers for regulating Weiss' body temperature are found in the part of the brain called the hypothalamus. Through some unknown internal mechanism, Weiss can mentally override her hypothalamus to allow her body temperature to be lowered. As this happens, her body will constantly absorb and convert the latent thermal energies in and around her into an unknown form of energy that is efficiently dissipated. Ice Queen can consciously, immediately lower her body temperature from its normal 98.6 Fahrenheit to absolute zero (The point where all molecular motion stops.) and lower within the span of a few tenths of a second. Ice Queen's power to alter temperature is so great, she was able to stop a fusion reactor from exploding.

Thermal Vision: When lowering her body temperature, Ice Queen can see other beings via the heat signatures they give off because of the absence of heat around herself.

Cryokinesis: Through her ability to absorb heat, Ice Queen can generate, manipulate, and fully control ice, snow, and cold temperatures. She can use her ability to control temperature to freeze virtually anything. She can lower temperatures to such extremes that she can immobilize enemies, and even leave them in a state of suspended animation. She can generate cold winds that have enough force to stop large projectiles or vehicles in their tracks. Ice Queen's control of her powers are so vast that it extends to the molecular level, to the point that she can freeze all of the molecules of an object/being with a thought, as well as unfreeze it. An example would be freezing the blood in the veins and stopping flow to the brain. She has demonstrated the ability to control chemical reactions on the molecular level, at one point preventing Cinder from accessing her powers.

Due to the amount of water on Earth, Ice Queen has a virtually unlimited supply of moisture since it is always present in the surrounding air or environment. Even desert air has sufficient moisture content for her to make temporary practical use of; however, the mental effort needed to employ her power under these circumstances could eventually fatigue her and render her freezing ability temporarily dysfunctional. Due to her cryokinetic-based powers, Ice Queen is able to sense, generate and manipulate various cold aspects of the weather such as snow, hail, blizzards, cold air, freezing rain etc.

Cryokinetic Constructs: Weiss can form and shape the ice she generates into whatever she desires: the only limitations are her own imagination and the ambient air temperature which determines how long her ice constructs will remain stable. She does not have to hold the ice physically with her hands in order to shape it. Apparently, she can simply direct the waves of coldness he projects in certain ways so as to create ice in the shape she desires. Throughout her time, she has formed ice-slides, ice-shields, ice-domes, ice-swords, and other such constructs. Ice Queen has created constructs of ice so powerful that she was able to easily encase and contain the likes of Omega with him being unable to break out of it for quite some time.

Limited Atmokinesis: Weiss' powers give her a limited control over the weather, being able to make it snow in an area and even create powerful snowstorms and blizzards. She once created a snowstorm so powerful that it almost permanently altered the earth's entire global climate.

Cold Immunity: An added benefit to her powers, Weiss' cells can withstand subzero temperatures, as seen when she was unaffected by a magically created snowstorm that froze an entire city and its people and later when she decreased the temperature in an area to absolute zero.

Flight: Ice Queen can generate powerful gusts of cold wind to propel herself through the air, though ice slides are her preferred method of transportation.

Accelerated Healing Factor: As a byproduct of her lowered body temperature, Weiss' metabolic rate is augmented to offset cold tissue destruction, allowing her to regenerate from damage sustained on her body at a rate equal to that of a speedster. However, the healing can be impeded if the wounds are obstructed. After having her femur shattered, it was able to heal in only a matter of minutes, and she recovered from a brutal beating despite her injuries being so severe as to require stitches.

Superhuman Durability: Ice Queen has remarkable durability, being able to withstand and tolerate substantial amounts of physical abuse. She has survived being hit with enough force to knock her through a wall, and she has survived a full-on lightning blast without any serious injury.

Transformation: Similar to Marvel's Iceman, Ice Queen has the ability to transform her body into an organic ice-like form. In this state, she is virtually indestructible, able to reform her body from being shattered or evaporated. While in her ice form, she is able to use the moisture in the air to form spikes, shields and attach other extra appendages to her body. She can also shapeshift by manipulating her molecular structure to allow her to melt into a liquid form which she can then freely alter and resolidify. It is currently unknown whether or not Weiss can be considered immortal.

Hydrokinesis: Ice Queen can manipulate water at a molecular level since ice is simply water in a solidified state, and she can control both with amazing ease. She can use surrounding moisture to augment herself, strengthening the reach of her freezing abilities to immeasurable distances as well as traveling within large bodies of water very quickly. She does this by breaking herself down to her base levels and reforming at the destination. She is able to convert her body to gigantic proportions as well, through absorption of a body of water or water vapor in the air. One side effect of this is she gains superhuman strength to match her superhuman size. Wherever there is any moisture, Ice Queen is a threat. Ice Queen has demonstrated the ability to be transformed into nothing more than water or water vapor, yet remain conscious and retain the use of her powers. Her conscious control of his abilities has allowed her to exist simultaneously in two places at once.

Molecular Moisture Inversion: The ability to freeze water molecules and turn them into solid ice.

Molecular Moisture Conversion: The ability to transform organic matter, such as a human body, to organic ice and back again. With this, it is possible for her to project her consciousness through moisture molecules and reform her body at the destination, effectively teleporting. Though she has only done this to herself, she does possess the potential, as demonstrated by her future self, to perform the feat with passengers. She later demonstrated this ability by converting Zephyr to moisture as well as herself.

Abilities

Intellectually Gifted: Weiss is well-educated in various scientific fields; she is an expert in thermodynamics and technological engineering. Her intellect is capable of rivaling Arthur Watts, the most prominent expert in genetics and technology. She helped design Team Meta's suits and created their flash-change watches. She prefers to use her mind where her teammates would use brawn, and she often uses her understanding of physical systems to utilize her powers efficiently.

Combat Skills: Weiss was formally trained in fencing from a young age, and has been taught in hand-to-hand combat by Titania and Dynamo as well as martial arts by Zephyr.

Dancer: Weiss was taught various forms of dancing which she incorporates into her fighting style to avoid attacks and confuse opponents.

Multilingualism: Weiss is fluent in German, French, and other various languages.

Weaknesses

Extreme Heat: While Weiss' powers allow her to absorb heat to fuel her powers, she can still be overwhelmed by high enough temperatures. She was nearly killed by a solar blast from Helios and became overheated while fighting against Cinder.

Hypothalamus: As her hypothalamus is responsible for controlling her bodily temperatures, she can likely lose her powers if it is damaged or destroyed.

Physical Condition: Weiss' cryokinetic abilities are dependent on her physical health and current mental state. Under normal conditions, she can usually form ice continually for a period of about 5 hours before becoming mentally exhausted. She must keep herself properly hydrated as well for her powers to function.

Paraphernalia

Equipment

Frost Suit: Weiss wears a protective suit made out of nanofibers that is designed to alter itself to accommodate her powers; the suit helps siphon heat from the air and transfer it to Weiss' body. It also serves as an insulator, protecting her from the most extreme temperatures.

Ice Bombs: Weiss carries a belt of capsules containing liquid nitrogen to use in the event that her powers are rendered useless. The bombs instantly flash freeze enemies on contact and can provide material for Weiss to manipulate.

Transportation

Sonic jet; ice slides, molecular displacement
