Story Start!
2 days.
It took 2 days for Naruto to become a headache to the student council for the new school that he had started to attend, well that wasn't a problem since he was dressed like a gangster, refused to wear the school uniform, and humiliated a few of the clubs that had struck him as fun to defeat to start with.
"It's... this... I don't even know what this dish was but it was absolute perfection."
"I learned to cook, because you never knew when you will be challenged to a cooking battle." Naruto grinned as he crossed his arms. "This was a French/Italian fusion cuisine that I created just now." Naruto had created the recipe just now purely out of the ingredients that the club had at their disposal.
It was the club members who had judged the two dishes, so he was at a disadvantage, but that didn't matter. All he had to do was create food so amazing that not even the most biased of judges would be able to deny the truth.
"Uzumaki Naruto, 1st year."
"Sup, I was waiting for the Student Council President... but you mind waiting a couple of hours. The baseball club accepted my challenge, and I heard you've got a good soccer team." Naruto looked a a shorter, more petite girl with black hair and glasses, purple eyes. Nice hips on her though, but she had a stern look to her face.
She crossed her arms tightly.
"You're conduct breaks the rules of the school."
"Yep, no doubt they do, and I'm not stopping until I beat everyone who challenges me, and that I challenge... or somebody else beats me. You can follow me around and watch if you want, just wait for your chance to lecture me." Naruto stated as he looked at the girl, he looked her up and down and he stood above her with a cocky smile.
She was a confident one for sure, thinking that she could stop him from his conquest of clubs, but it didn't matter too much to him.
"UZUMAKI! We of the Dance Club challenge you!"
"ACCEPTED, but after the other challenges I have this afternoon!" Naruto pointed to the person who shouted a challenge to him, not even caring what the challenge was. Naruto walked out of the room, and he gave the student president a pat on the shoulder as he passed by her. "... Try and stop me, or follow me and be impressed." Naruto whispered to her.
-3 Hours Later-
'Well, I am quite impressed actually.' Sona Sitri, Souna Sitori to the students of the school, thought as she watched Naruto accept a challenge from the Sumo team of the school and beat all of them one after another. He absolutely destroyed the baseball club, all by himself, he didn't even NEED a team to do it which was more impressive. He outdanced the dance club, and he gave the soccer team a show as he ran circles around them.
Literally.
She didn't come to stop Naruto, she came to investigate him and see his potential for herself... and also to force him to wear the student uniform. She didn't care what the human students of the school did with their free time, or she would have stopped the perverts in the school from peeking on girl's changing habits. She didn't care that Naruto was picking fights and challenging clubs, but the fact that he had proven himself to win every challenge showed he had some serious potential.
'What is more, he doesn't have a Sacred Gear... this is ALL his own potential, and nothing else.' Sona thought as she observed him on a different level. Most fantastic humans had Sacred Gears that made them stand out, but this boy had no Sacred Gear and he didn't even come from a famous family... by magical standards. He was rich, having come from the family that rose to financial heights when his father staged takeovers of damn near every big business across multiple nations.
He owned businesses in nearly every country of the world, making and selling everything from toothpaste to cars. Whatever business his father had wanted when he was alive, he took it over, to the point that the Namikaze Industry had their hands in damn near every type of business you could imagine.
His body was athletic to the point of near perfection.
His abilities were borderline insane, in how he seemed to have a natural mastery over everything.
"Have you ever played Chess Uzumaki-san?" Sona asked Naruto as he walked passed her.
"Nope, but I've heard of it... sounds interesting. Got a book on the rules and stuff?" Naruto asked Sona, and she used some minor magic to see if he was lying to her or not.
He was telling the truth.
"Yes, I do have a book. You've only been at this school for 2 days, but you have yet to wear the school uniform. I believe that you should dress according to the rules." Sona addressed the first reason that she went after Naruto.
Naruto had no Sacred Gear, so her rival had no interest in the boy, but Sona could see that he had some serious potential in him. A human that showed this kind of potential was a great catch, Sacred Gear or not, and the fact that he had the drive to challenge everyone and accept challenges from everyone meant that he was willing to put hard work into things.
"Mind if I read it?" Naruto asked her.
She nodded.
-30 Minutes Later-
'... He's reading at an insane pace... he's got to be reading that book at least 100 times faster than I've ever seen a person read.' Sona thought as she watched Naruto complete his second book on Chess that she had allowed him to read, from her personal collection. She enjoyed books and she enjoyed chess, so books on chess were quite a fond past time of hers. "Do you think you understand chess now?" Sona asked Naruto as she gestured to the chess board that was sitting on the table.
They were currently alone in the student council room.
She had no doubt that this would NOT turn violent, and she believed she could handle herself if it did indeed turn to that.
"Yes, I think I've mastered this game now that's I've read these books." Naruto told her with a smile.
Sona was interested.
"Mastered the game... well, I am quite the chess player myself. I would be willing to wager that you wear your school uniform if you lose." Sona stated as she got to the meat of the matter, not to mention a guy who had never played chess telling her that he had mastered the game irked her a little. Nobody could master the game after only reading 2 books on the subject, and the thought that he believed his brain could fully comprehend the game to the point of mastery made her want to put him in his place as a novice.
Naruto blinked.
"... You don't care that I'm challenging the clubs?"
"Not in the slightest, I believe rivalry will only push students to greater academic heights. Please, would you like black or white?" Sona asked Naruto as she gestured to the board.
"Black."
Sona lost.
Sona looked at Naruto in surprise, and she placed her thumb against her mouth for a moment, before she looked between the board and at Naruto.
"Want to go again?" Naruto asked her as she set the board up, not needing to answer him with words.
Sona lost again.
Sona lost another 20 times.
'This is impossible... he was NOT lying about never playing chess before, but he keeps predicting every move I'm going to make. He acts as if he has all of the possibilities memorized and mastered to the point that no matter what I do, the end result will always be his victory.' Sona thought as she lost again. She started to set up the board again as she looked towards Naruto with her eyebrow raised.
-13 Hours Later-
Sona watched as she was placed into checkmate once more.
"Can you explain how you are doing this?" Sona asked Naruto as she accepted yet another loss, but her teeth were slightly grit.
Naruto blinked.
"It's simple, I just thought of every possible combination this board can have, and when I do that, it's only easy to predict what your next move will be." Naruto stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Doing that, I can force you to move your pieces in the way I want you to move them, by noticing patterns in the way you play." Naruto explained further.
Sona nodded her head as she tried to digest that.
"... That's... no..." Sona set up the board, and she started to play another game with Naruto out of disbelief. It only took 7 moves for him to beat her, when last game he beat her in 9 moves, showing that he had been reducing the time that it was taking to beat her when he got serious. "... I see..." Sona was starting to understand.
Naruto's brain was doing calculations faster than a supercomputer.
It was like he had multiple supercomputers in his head capable of running through near-impossible calculations at impossible to understand speeds, and applying them.
"You see what?" Naruto asked her with a tilted head.
The sun was shining again, they had stayed the entire night just playing chess, because Sona kept setting up the chess board like she was doing now.
"I see you aren't lying, but how are you doing it?" Sona questioned how he was able to do this and not completely overload his brain. She watched his reaction carefully, but he just tilted his head in confusion.
"It's not hard if I just focus, I mean, it's just memorizing patterns. The only REALLY challenging part is moving my pieces in a way that forces you to act the way I want you. So, once you make your move, I select the 3000 best possible moves, and then continue narrow those moves down as we play." Naruto stated the long and short of it.
Sona made a noise of dim understanding as she set the board up again, a small smile on her face as she moved her piece first.
"I see, so nothing I do could ever allow me to win?" Sona questioned him.
"I mean, you can keep trying, but you play this game in a very predictable pattern, so unless you change your patterns you can't win... ah... you changed things up." Naruto noticed as they got halfway into the game once more.
Why halfway?
Sona lost after a couple more moves.
"You're a genius."
"No, I just have 1000 brains worth of brain." Naruto corrected her, since he didn't care to keep it a secret or anything. "Bit of a curse really, I've always got 1000 different personalities and thoughts in mind head always active, but when I force them to focus on something, I can learn and master things 1000 times faster than the normal person." Naruto explained to her.
She raised both of her eyebrows.
"That's quite the impressive mind, in theory, if one of your thoughts figures out a solution, then the other 999 will focus on mentally mastering it... I see... by reading those books, you actually used most of those cloned thoughts to think of and master every possible chess solution." Sona was in the presense of a genius who did not know that his brain was beyond simply genius, it was outstanding on a level that she could barely comprehend.
"It doesn't work like that exactly... but I guess you can get pretty close with that." Naruto stated as he and Sona played again.
He would play her as many times as she challenged him.
He had beaten her over 800 times and counting at this point.
"I see, your grades from previous schools were actually quite poor though." Sona had looked into his previous school records.
He was a Straight C student for some reason.
"I don't care about grades, and studying boring stuff isn't fun. The only reason I studied chess was because you were challenging me, and I wanted to beat you in what you were proud of." Naruto stated with a giant grin.
Sona nodded in semi-understanding.
"I see... Well, considering you have now defeated me 821 times in chess, I believe that your reward for beating me will need to be equal to 821 times what I would have forced on you-" Sona lost to Naruto again. "-822..." Sona corrected her number from earlier.
She had a glint in her eye.
Naruto stood up though.
"Well, we can continue this, I'm going to go home and sleep, I'm tired from staying up all night." Naruto told her. "We can continue this another day if you want." Naruto stated to her as he waved her off.
She nodded.
"I'll hold you to that, and even though I did lose, I will ask you politely at least to wear your uniform. I won't force you though, seeing as I did lose." Sona stated to herself. 'There is no possible way I'm going to tell Rias about him.' Sona thought to herself as she smiled at Naruto as he left the room.
Rias might go after Naruto if she learned about how unique his brain was, Sacred Gear or not, the ability to comprehend and learn things at a rate 1000 times faster than a normal human was something to be respected and desired. If her rival learned that Naruto had defeated her 822 times in chess, something Rias could rarely do, then that would just get her to want him even more.
"Lets have fun again another day."
"You're quite the smug man." Sona commented to him with a genuine frown on her face when she saw his foxlike grin. His smile just radiated the aura of smugness that screamed that he believed that he was better than her.
Naruto smiled with his eyes closed and his lips wide, just like a fox.
"I get that a lot, guess that is why I don't have friends." Naruto stopped smiling at her comment.
Sona thought on that.
"I see no reason why you can't befriend a smug man, if you would... we can speak on this matter another day. Please, enjoy a good rest, and I apologize for keeping you up so late." Sona apologized to him. She had a lot of thinking and obvserving to do if she wanted to craft an offer and benefits that Naruto would enjoy.
Not to mention, she had to speak with her parents.
She was obligated to inform them that a man had defeated her in chess after all.
