Owen did not know what to make of what Bobby had told him. It had been three days since they had spoken at the bar. Three days for Owen to decide what he wanted to do. Bobby had said that he would take him to see the recruiters and get him a shot at trying to become a N7 whatever the hell that meant. With the time that Bobby had given him Owen had gone to the one place that he could think of that he felt alright at.
To a small cmentary outside maima. People knew about this place but stayed out of respect for what it was. Only people that were from town and that had given their lives for the alliance were allowed to be buried here. It was also the last resting place of his wife.
She would hate what had become of the man that she had loved. Slowly moving towards her headstone he thought back to when they had first met.

Gary Owen did not have many friends at this school. He hated that he was being forced to be here by the foster system. But this was his last shot or he would be sent to places much that he was stuck in the hole the he found himself in he was content to just be the gray man and blend in the crowd. But as fate would have it he would not be able to do so. Being a foster kid had made Owen pretty tuff and he had been able to look after himself. Already standing at 5"6 at eleven years old also helped in making it to where people would not want to mess with the kid. Sitting at the lunch table of this damned school did not help matters at all either.
From what Owen could tell at the far end of the table were two other foster kids. Ones that he had seen before. A brother and sister he thought to himself. They both sure do look alike. But unfortunately the pait had drawn the eye of some of the resident clowns who thought themselves better than everybody else.
Knowing where this was probably going to go. Owen thought to himself that he would not get involved at all and just simply sit it out. Slowly the group of boys (Why was it always boys that tried to start shit) made their way to the edge of the table to where the siblings were sitting. Owen could just make out what was being said. And to say nothing else he was getting pissed
"Well who do we have here. Two lover birds huh?"
The boy who Owen could see was the older of the two turned his head and stared daggers at the offending boy and spoke.
"No, this is my sister and I would appreciate it if you would piss off and leave us alone thank you very much.
Well you see kid I just can't do that now. Seeing as to how you just insulted me in front of my boys here. Right boys?
Yeau man, can't let that brat say that crap to you.
You see I can't let this go unpunished. But seeing as to how you very much established as to you two being brother and sister and not a couple, I bet you would not mind if I was with her and had some fun with her now would you?"
Quickly the bully grabbed the girl by her arm and pulled her from her chair. The girl for her part let out an audible gasp of pain. The brother jolted up and attacked the larger boy right away. Thrown off guard by the sudden attack he let go of the girl and went to protect himself. Obviously he was not very used to people fighting back against him. Very quickly however the fight changed when the boys jumped in and held the smaller boy and had him restrained. Getting up from the floor the bully had a bleeding nose and was already showing signs of brushing on his face
"You just made a big mistake runt. Now I have to beat you down in front of everyone.
Not when I am here you daft cunt."
Shock showed on the bully's face. Not used to this mush defiance when doing his thing. He turned around to see a girl about as old as Owen as far as he could tell. Red hair pulled back into a ponytail and fist balled ready to hit something.
"What are you going to do by yourself little lady? It's six vs 1.
And that is where you are so wrong dude. You may want to look behind you." She said with a slay smirk.
When the bully had turned to face the new girl Owen had decided that he had enough and was not going to let the continue to go on. So he was standing face to face with the bully, and Owen was at least two inches taller than him and had twenty pounds on him as well. However his parents must have been freaking giants.
Without warning Owen grabbed the now smaller bully by the shoulder and wrist and slugged him up and over his shoulder and onto the ground with hardly no effort.
Landing with a sick thud Owen guessed the boy probably had broken something when he had hit the ground. Deciding that the boy was out of the fight for the moment Owen turned his attention to the four other boys that were present
All four looked between themselves then the girl and finally owen and decided the owen was the bigger threat attempting to gang up on him but they screwed up on two fronts.
One when they had moved to gang up on Owen they let go of the smaller boy and Two wrongly thought that the girl was no threat at all. Both of these things worked out for Owen.
The first thing that happened was Owen punched the biggest boy in the ground (thought he was still smaller than Owen) And then both the boy and the girl attacked the group from the back. In doing so divided the group between the different attackers. So now that he had batter odds, Owen sent a flying kick to the next boy's chest hoping to connect and send him flying.
But the other boy simply moved out of the way of the kick. So head some speed to himself. Deciding to change tactics, Owen squared up in a boxer's stance and moved toward the other boy. The boy for his credit did not try to run away but mimenked Owen and advanced towards Owen. through a left jab at owen and it connected with not very much power behind it. Using the small opening that was presented to him Owen threw a quick jab to the boys ribcage. Moving his hips with the throw Owen was able to add a little more power to it. Connecting the boy got the wind knocked out of him. Pouncing on him Owen threw another jab to his unprotected face several times before punching him in the side again. Deciding that this part of the fight was over, Owen looked up to see that the boy and girl had both dealt with the one they had to fight as well. Walking to where the younger girl had been thrown to Owen quickly checked here for any injuries and walked her back to her brother.
"Thank you for helping. I don't know what would have happened to us if both of you had not stepped in.
Yeah well I did not like what that guy was saying to you sister. "
Slowing turning to the older girl Owen just raised an eyebrow and then talked to her.
"And who are you, and thanks for stepping in to help me as well, and allowing me to move in behind the jerk.
You are welcome. And my name is Jess, Jess parker, And you are.
Gary Owen."
Turning to the siblings and looking at them before speaking.
"And what are y'alls names?
Ricky Bobby and Mary Bobby.
Well Ricky and mary Bobby I think it would be safer if you both stuck with me and jess here yeau?
Yeua if she also says so.
Jess what do you say?
Sure why not. You look like you like to get into fun anyway. And I want to see.
Back In present day Miami
Owen found himself standing at Jess's grave pondering what to do. And all he could come up with was that he really wanted to see the fiery mane of hair laying beside him in bed again. How she loved to adventure out into the unknown and save the good guys while fighting the bad. At the end Owen knew that he was going to join the alliance, if only to find the group that had taken her from him.
Sighing slowly he raised his arm. Doing so brought his omni-tool to life and ready for whatever task he needed done. Pulling up his call log he paused over Bobby's name. Only after a second he activated the call to Bobby.
Only having to wait for a moment bobby's face game up on the screen.A look of relief on his face.
" I thought that you were never going to call. Andmy leave is up next week so I was on a time crunch. So what do you say. Are you in or not?
Yeah I'm giving this a go. Whatever this is."
Bobby smiled the biggest smile that Owen had seen in a long time. To be honest Owen had missed it, though he was never going to tell Bobby.
"Thank god. Alright I'll come get you tomorrow, it's late in the day as is and you are going to be there all day to say the least. Get some rest Owen and You are doing the right thing.
Alright Bobby, I'll see you tomorrow."
Ending the call, Owen took a last look at his wife's headstone. He knelt down and generally kissed it and said a quick prayer for her. Standing he turned and swore to himself that he would only come back and see her again after he had dealt with the ones that had killed her.
Tomorrow he was going to enlist to be an Alliance Marine.
