Submarine, eleven years earlier
Night
Oliver was about to climb up the latter to the hatch of the submarine when Anatoly spoke.
"Oliver," Oliver paused, looking over as Anatoly approached. "I do not know if we will see each other again. But know that you have made friend for life. If there is anything you need, it does not matter what. You have only to ask."
Oliver nodded, holding out a hand for Anatoly to shake. Instead, Anatoly pulled him in for a hug.
"Prochnost my friend," Anatoly told him.
Lian Yu, now
Morning
Oliver stood at the graves of his father, Yao-Fei and Shado. But a new body was buried under rocks. And like the other three graves, it had a long wooded grave marker with a name carved into it. The name 'Anatoly Knyazev' was carved into the wood as Oliver stared down at it.
"Prochnost my friend," Oliver muttered.
For a moment, it was silent before Oliver heard a pair of footsteps. Oliver was unsurprised when he saw Thea emerge from the woods.
"Thought I might find you here," Thea said as she walked up next to him, staring down at their father's grave. "I'm sorry about Anatoly."
"I'm sorry you only got to see the worst of him. Under different circumstances, I think you two would have gotten along," Oliver said with a slight smile.
"You okay?" Thea asked gently as she looked over at him. "I don't just mean about Anatoly. You've been on edge since we got here, not just about the Monitor either."
"Being back here…it's not easy. For so long, I have hated this place. I have a lot of painful memories here, people I lost…it just made me so angry," Oliver said sighed heavily. "And being back here…it just reminds me of it all, all the pain and loss I went through those five years."
"I'm sorry," Thea said and he looked over at her curiously. "I was such a bitch to you when you came back. I should have just been happy you were alive, and I was. But…all I could think was that you getting on that boat was why you weren't there with me and Mom. And it was just so hard to let that go."
"I never meant to cause you pain Speedy," Oliver said as he turned to face her. "There hasn't been a day since you born that I haven't cherished being your brother. After William and Mia, you are the most important person in my life. I have only ever tried to protect you. I'm sorry that I couldn't. But I am so proud of you, of the woman you've become. No matter what happens…I will always love you."
Tearfully, Thea walked over and hugged Oliver. Oliver wrapped his arms around her and the stayed like that for a few moments.
"How long do we have until Crisis?" Thea asked after a moment.
"Not long," Oliver said as they let go, remembering Luke's warning. "I should be used to saying goodbye to you by now."
"Then don't think of it as a 'goodbye', think of it as a 'see you later'," Thea before pausing and adding in an almost desperate tone. "Please don't die."
"I always try my best not to," Oliver pointed out.
"I know, and I've seen you cheat death more than anyone I know, but this…it feels different somehow, like it's the end. So please…be extra careful," Thea said and he nodded.
"I'll do my best," Oliver promised.
Back at camp, Roy was packing up his bow and quiver when he felt someone behind him. Turning around, he was surprised to see Annabeth.
"Hey," Roy said awkwardly.
"Hey," Annabeth said in a matching tone, looking like she didn't know what to say any more than he did.
"Thought I'd be the last person you'd want to talk to you," Roy said after a moment. "What's up?"
"Thea, she told me what happened. About why you left, the vision the Oracle showed you," Annabeth said.
"She shouldn't have told you that," Roy said immediately.
"I'm glad she did. Why didn't you tell me?" Annabeth asked as she walked over to him.
"Because I failed," Roy said honestly, taking Annabeth back. "I was supposed to protect Luke, he was my little brother and I failed him. I couldn't forgive myself for that, so how could I expect you to?"
"Roy," Annabeth's voice softened as she walked over to him, placing a hand on the side of his face. "You couldn't have stopped him any more than I could have. It took me a long time to accept, but no one could have stopped Luke from going over to Kronos. You can't blame yourself Roy."
She hugged him and, after a moment, Roy returned her embrace. A weight lifted from both their shoulders as they felt the healing between them.
"So…how'd you end up involved with Oliver?" Annabeth as she let go and he chuckled.
"It's a long story," Roy said. "After I left Camp, I went to a dark place. Got into trouble with some bad people. Then Oliver saved my life and, I don't know, it was like everything became clear. Oliver, he turned me into something better than what I was before. It wasn't always easy, sometimes it sucked. But if he doesn't save me, I don't become Arsenal, and I'm not standing here, looking at you."
"And also you don't have Thea," Annabeth said, smiling at Roy's surprise. "With how much she went out of her way to defend you, to make me understand why you left, wasn't hard to see that she loves you. Do you love her?"
"It's…complicated," Roy said after a moment.
"It's really not. I spent a long time fighting my feelings for Percy, but it just made me miserable, made him miserable to. You may think you're protecting by staying away, but all you're doing is hurting her," Annabeth told him as Roy frowned, considering her words.
At the edge of camp, Oliver and Thea were returning when Oliver spotted Slade standing by the edge of camp, looking out at the beach.
"I'll be right back," Oliver told Thea before walking over to Slade.
"My condolences for Mr. Knyazev," Slade said as Oliver walked up beside him.
"He died as he lived: an honorable man," Oliver said and it was silent for a moment. "I need a favor."
"Anything you need kid," Slade as he looked over at him.
"My son…my daughter…they both have my blood, Artemis' blood in their veins. I'm not sure how much danger they'll be in, if they have the same scent, if monsters will come after them or if enemies of my mother will target them," Oliver said and Slade understood what Oliver was asking. "If I don't make it…"
"I shall watch over them as though they were my own," Slade vowed and Oliver nodded.
"Thank you Slade," Oliver said gratefully, at peace now.
"I wish I could be there in this Crisis to fight by your side," Slade said after a moment.
"In a way, you will be," Oliver said and Slade raised an eyebrow. "Do you remember the first thing you taught me?"
"There's no giving up to these guys," Slade remembered and Oliver nodded.
"I have lived by that lesson for the last twelve years. You helped make me the man I am Slade. Whether you're fighting by my side or not, you'll be with me in this Crisis."
"I was right all along: you are an idiot," Slade said and Oliver laughed. "But I appreciate the sentient."
At that moment, Percy, supporting Turner, emerged from the tent followed by Annabeth and Roy, who was holding a large cylinder like device.
"So that's it? The energy from the island?" Thea asked as Roy set it down.
"Yeah. Hope it was all worth it," Roy said as they stared at it.
"Me to," Oliver said as he and Slade walked over. "Guys, can Roy and I have a minute?"
Thea and Annabeth both looked at Roy curiously, but he only shrugged. After a moment, they all walked a little away from them, giving them some privacy.
"I'm sorry you got dragged into this craziness Roy," Oliver apologized.
"I'm not," Roy said, taking Oliver back. "It gave me some perspective."
"You mean what Shado said to you?" Oliver asked.
"That and Anatoly," Roy said, confusing Oliver. "Last time we crossed paths, he was working with Diaz, trying to take over Star City. And now, he gave up his life for us, for the world, died a hero. If someone like him can get redemption…maybe I'm not so lost after all."
"I'm glad to hear you say that. Because there was something I wanted to ask you, a favor," Oliver said cautiously.
"Name it," Roy said immediately and Oliver smiled weakly.
"I hope you still feel that way in a minute," Oliver said, confusing Roy. "If I don't make it…Star City will always need a protector. It will always need a Green Arrow."
"Me? You want me to be the next Green Arrow?" Roy asked in surprised.
"I should have asked you from the start. I thought John could handle the responsibility, I was wrong. If I don't make it…please protect my city," Oliver said, holding his hand out to Roy, who, after a moment, took it in a handshake.
"I will. But I won't have to, because you'll make it out of this alive," Roy said as they dropped hands.
"I hope so," Oliver said as he picked the cylinder like device up off the ground. "And one more thing: make things right with Thea. Trust me; you'll regret it for the rest of your life if you don't."
Before Roy could respond, suddenly, all seven of them were blinded by a bright light.
Argus base
Same time
Lyla was sitting at her desk, beginning to get worried, as she hadn't had contact with Turner since he got close to Lian Yu. Suddenly, there was a bright light in her office. Lyla, startled, got to her feet as Turner, Thea, Roy and Slade appeared in her office.
"How did you get here?" Lyla asked in shock.
"The Monitor, it has to be," Slade said.
"Wait, you mean…" Thea trailed off as Slade nodded grimly.
"The time has come," he said grimly.
Unknown location
Same time
Oliver, holding the device, Percy and Annabeth appeared in the strange place with stars once more as The Monitor stood on the other side of the platform.
"Well done, you have accomplished your mission," Novu said.
"You set Anatoly up to die," Oliver said, suddenly overcome with rage.
"I did what was necessary," Novu corrected, infuriating Oliver. "But none of that matters now. The time has come."
"Wait, you mean-" Annabeth started.
"Yes. The Crisis has begun," Novu said grimly.
Central City
Sam time
In a dark room, a man was kneeling on the floor as a voice spoke to him.
"It is time Half-Blood. Time for us to take our revenge. Time for the multiverse to fall," a voice and a man who looked like Harrison Wells lifted his head.
"Yes Lord Kronos…it is time for them to all suffer," Eobard Thawne said with a smirk.
The fact that Thawne was not in Crisis, especially since heh ad been teased as being part of it since the Flash pilot, was criminal, especially since no real reason for him not to be there other than laziness and stupidity on the part of the writers.
And now, we've reached the part of the story where I can start getting into Crisis. I'm not sure when I'm going to update again, but until then, here's a little something for you.
From the Earth by TOTEM plays.
"In the beginning, there was one," Mar Novu's voice spoke. "A single Earth, ruled by Titans."
Kronos and the other Titans were shown.
"Then came the gods," Novu's voice said as Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia were shown. "The resulting battle between the two would cause the very fabric of space and time to nearly unravel. One became many, and thus the multiverse was born."
Scenes of the Siege, Kronos' attack on Manhattan and Zoom's invasion of Central City were seen as Novu's voice continued.
"With these new earths came chaos. But the gods had a plan: they could not interfere in the affairs of mortals, so they sired champions to defend the mortals. Heroes who were half mortal and half god."
Various shots of Oliver, Barry, Percy and the heroes of Camp Halfblood were seen.
"And the multiverse needs them now more than ever. A crisis has come."
On Earth-38, Oliver, Barry, Kara and J'onn watched in horror as the earth and the people seemed to be being wiped out, disappearing into nothingness.
"But there is hope," Novu was saying to Oliver, Barry, Kara, Percy, Annabeth, Thalia and Patty. "Seven Paragons, beings of the purest will spread throughout space and time."
The scene shifted to Barry staring at Thawne, smirking at him.
"He's back," Barry was shown saying to someone. "He's back and he's with Kronos."
"I know this is my fault," Luke was shown saying to Thalia. "I just wanna make it right now."
"I don't know if I can do this," Oliver said with a sigh.
"You must lead them my son," Artemis told him as she placed a hand on the side of his face. "For the sake of all life."
"We need your help," Percy was seen saying to someone the camera was panned away from.
"Nico Di Angelo, you are needed," Novu said as Nico was seen in the Underworld.
"This is it," Barry told Patty as he stared at something out of focus. "This is how I vanish in Crisis."
"Oliver, if you do this, you can't ever go back home," Percy was heard saying as Oliver was shown staring at a picture of Felicity and Mia.
"The time has come," Kronos' voice was heard saying as Oliver, Barry, Percy, Kara, Annabeth, Thalia, J'onn and Patty stared ahead at something. "The end of the gods is here."
"OLIVER!" Barry's voice cried as Oliver screamed, his eyes glowing pure white.
Coming Soon
Just a little trailer for the Crisis portion of the story. Hope you enjoyed it. And the song just worked so well with what I was imagining, so I'd recommend playing it as you read the trailer.
