Hello Again,
First of all, I'm sorry that it took longer than it usually does for me to write and post a new chapter. So far, this is my longest chapter. I hope all this time I put into it was worth it.
You're about to see Steven and the others face off against the troublesome twins. I hope this pleases you because I haven't really written action scenes before, so hopefully it's at least good enough to understand and follow. Anyway, I hope you like it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Steven Universe. That glory belongs to Rebecca Sugar and the Crewniverse. The only thing(s) that I own are my multiple OCs and the plot of this story.
Chapter 6:
Two for Danger
MINUTES EARLIER
Steven, Connie & the gems, plus Spinel, were running through the halls of the zoo to catch up with Blue after she went up ahead to see what was going on. They had every right to know what caused the zoo to be as quiet and empty as a ghost town.
As they were all running deeper towards the containment area of the ship, they smelled small traces of smoke. It's as if something was burning. Not only that, but they all heard a strange sound. It sounded like shots were being fired, but almost laser like shots. Like from a sci-fi movie. Everyone also recognized the sound of Blue's powers too, considering that she fired those attacks at them before she knew the truth about Pink.
Either way, Blue wouldn't use those powers unless it was to attack or at the very least defend herself and she wouldn't be unless she was engaged in combat. That told everyone that there was someone or something dangerous that probably caused all this.
Once Steven and everyone else reached the door to the containment area, they saw that the door was blasted off its hinges. However, their attention immediately shifted to an injured Blue Diamond on her knees and about to be hit with a powerful sphere of energy that was apparently made by two silver-skinned beings.
It didn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together. Steven figured that if Blue was on her knees and some unknown people had an attack like that, it was pretty obvious what they'd do with it.
As soon as he saw the two launch their attack, Steven quickly sped towards Blue Diamond and put his arms out to project a wall made up of his hexagonal pink shields that formed between Blue and the incoming attack. The wall showed up just in time before the attack made contact with Blue.
After the dust settled, everyone else caught up to Steven as he stood next to the damaged and kneeling diamond. Everyone then faced the two beings who just attempted to take down Blue and possibly the people who were responsible for all this destruction.
PRESENT
Steven stood his ground and kept up the wall he summoned up as a border between the side of the zoo where he and his friends and family was and the side where the enemies stood.
"Blue, are you ok?" Steven asked her, but still remained focus on keeping the wall up.
"I'm fine Steven. I exhausted most of my power, so I can't move too much." Blue told Steven. However, she was quick to change the subject.
"But Steven, I told you and the others to stay put in the hangar."
"I know. But whatever is going on here, I'm not gonna let you face it alone." Steven boldly told her in response.
After Steven told her his declaration, his attention shifted towards the two beings on the other side of his wall. He looked around at all the damage around the zoo and on Blue. Steven was hesitant to believe that two people were responsible for all this. If they were, then it was best to just keep this wall up to prevent them from leaving. The last thing Steven wanted was for things to escalate to a point where not only those two would be sorry for what they've done, but he'd be sorry too for what he might do.
On the other side of the pink barrier, the green-haired twins were processing what's going on in their own way.
Charlo was surprised that Blue had what he assumed to be reinforcements. However, they were an interesting choice for backup. An ordinary looking Pearl, an Amethyst shorter than the ones that were here, a goofy looking gem with a heart-shaped gemstone, a gem that was taller than the others, and the strangest of all, TWO HUMANS?!
Before he could overthink this, he decided to try and break that wall down and conjured up another ball. After doing so, he aimed at the same spot on the wall where his previous giant attack hit. His sister interrupted his concentration telepathically.
What are you doing?
I'm trying to break through that wall. If I hit it in the same spot as before, it's sure to make a weak spot on it and cause a few cracks. Now shut up and let me aim.
Charlo was confident that his plan would work. Charla on the other hand had her doubts. Especially when she saw that the enemies on the other side didn't show any signs of nervousness at seeing his upcoming attack.
Once Charlo locked on to the spot on the giant wall he wanted to hit, he threw his attack right at it. Once it made contact with the wall and exploded, he was sure that the wall would be damaged and it would only be a matter of seconds before he could break through it. However, his theory was quickly proved wrong. Once the smoke cleared, the spot he hit didn't show any sign of damage. The man was surprised, confused and frustrated.
What the hell?!
Charla could now see why the enemies weren't nervous about her brother's attack. They knew that the wall would be strong enough to handle it.
The attack Charlo threw earlier was made up of both his and my aura. It was capable of knocking a diamond off their feet, but this wall was able to stop it completely. Charlo even hit it in the same spot this time, but the wall didn't weaken. There's no cracks on it. Not even a dent.
After scanning the wall, she focused on the group on the other side. More specifically, the person with their hands out, the one who she assumes is the one keeping that shield alive, the male human.
Is he the one that summoned this thing? But he's just a human? Isn't he? Or is he a part of some gem experiment? Regardless of who or what he is, as long as he has this wall up, neither of our attacks will get through. We can't even get to them so long as this barrier is dividing the area.
After Charla thought about their predicament, her brother decided to break the ice rudely.
"Who the hell are you guys?"
On the other side of Stevens wall, they were offended with the male's rude question, but nonetheless, Steven decided to respond with a question of his own.
"I was about to ask you the same thing. Not just that, but what did you guys do with everyone on this ship?" Steven asked them as he kept his eyes on them, hoping that he could intimidate them to get an answer.
The twins looked at each other, asking each other if they should tell him what they did. Before either of them could answer, Connie noticed something on the other side. She noticed a few puddles of what looked like blood. When she thought that, the blood in her veins felt cold. She was hoping she was wrong. Steven looked at what she saw and felt the exactly same feeling. Everyone else did the same thing and followed suit. Blue just looked down as she already saw it when she first came in.
Steven's fear then turned into fury as he looked over at the enemies again. He decided to ask the same question, but in a different tone.
"WHAT DID YOU TWO DO?!"
Meanwhile, in the room where the other hooded accomplice was, as he was hacking into the zoo's computers, he looked at a video monitor of the current predicament his subordinates were in. He debated on whether or not he should bail them out of trouble. On one hand, he couldn't afford to lose them due to the skills they possess. On the other hand, he cannot just leave this room when he's so close to taking all of the information he needs.
As he was thinking this over, a voice in his head came through. A young feminine voice that he recognized right off the bat.
Daviron
Right away, the hooded figure, now known as Daviron, responded quickly telepathically.
What's your status with the mission?
Master! As we speak, I am currently hacking into the zoo's mainframe. Once all of the data is extracted, our mission will be completed.
Excellent. And what of your soldiers you recommended to join you in this? How are they progressing?
He was hesitant to answer because he knew what would happen if he told her the truth. But he swore loyalty to her. So he decided to tell her.
Right now they are engaged in combat against Blue Diamond and some of her reinforcements.
After a moment of silence, the voice spoke again, only this time, more cold.
Daviron, you know that is unacceptable. We cannot allow our foot soldiers engage in combat with strong gems this early. Especially Diamonds! That's for you, your fellow giants, me and the other masters to handle.
Yes. I'm fully aware
How long until you extract all the data?
At least 15 minutes.
Then once you've collected it, you and your subordinates will report back to base as soon as you can! I will summon a portal to your location once you take care of everything. Is that understood?
Yes master.
You are a key figure in the clan Daviron. Don't disappoint me.
After her last statement, she left his head and left him alone with his thoughts. Once he knew what to do, he spoke to himself with determination.
"I won't."
Back in the containment area, Steven's question of fury has remained unanswered. The twins silence made him even more angry. Amethyst decided to speak up her frustration as well.
"Did you chumps hurt the other gems too? The Famethyst?!"
After deciding that the time of being silent is over. Charlo grinned as he decided to finally respond. However, what he says next will not be pleasant for everyone to hear.
"You mean those pathetic purple and pink gems?" he grinned as he said it. This just provoked everyone right away, especially Amethyst and Steven. Charlo continued to taunt them further.
"So what if we did? If all those gems and humans could do was run and hide instead of relax and goof around, then they're better off shattered and dead."
"YOU PIECE OF-" Amethyst shouted furiously at the green-haired male before Pearl interrupted her.
"Amethyst no!" Pearl said as she tried to hold Amethyst back from running towards the twins, despite Steven's barrier still up.
"Steven, lower the shield! I'm gonna tear those two a new one!" Amethyst told Steven as she kept her eyes on the guy that claimed to have hurt her sisters. Steven considered doing it, as he wanted to give them, more specifically the male, a piece of his mind through his fists. However, Connie put a hand on Steven's shoulder as Garnet walked to Amethyst, still held back by Pearl, and did the same exact thing.
"Steven don't!" Connie said to him.
"My future vision might not be working, but I can see right through what he's trying. He's trying to provoke you into lowering the wall. Don't fall for it." Garnet explained to both Steven & Amethyst. She also had a feeling that not everything the male said was true.
The blood is one thing, but if they really killed the humans, wouldn't there be any corpses around? Not just that, if they really shattered the gems, there would be shards everywhere and I don't see any.
Steven sighed in frustration, but knew that Garnet was right. If he dropped the giant shield, he would allow the enemies through. If they were able to damage Blue and force her to rest, they're sure to be strong. That didn't mean he wasn't still furious at those two. Because he was, his pink glow came through.
When his friends saw this, they became worried. The enemies on the other hand were surprised at what they were seeing. It's one thing for him to produce a great pink wall, but he became the same color as well. Right away, the twins could feel the intensity coming off of him from the other side.
He decided to change his way of interrogating another way. Steven decided to walk forward, but keep arms in front of him as he did. This caused the wall to move forward too, surprising his trapped foes. He wanted to keep his anger in check and not do something he'd regret.
Charlo and Charla realized that if they don't do something soon, they'd be crushed by the wall against the other end of the zoo that was getting closer as they slowly backed away from the incoming wall.
"Tell me where everyone is and I'll drop the wall." Steven said as calmly as he can while holding back the desire to crush them against the other end of the area.
As they were running out of space, the twins hardly had any options. Their power alone can't break the shield. Even if they told the truth, chances are that they wouldn't like what they hear.
FLASHBACK
(After the twins and their boss arrived)
Everything in the containment area was going great for everyone. The Amethysts, Rose Quartzes and Zoomans were enjoying their time on the zoo, as usual. Whether if it's sitting on the waterfall, swimming or even having a good drink, everyone was enjoying paradise.
That all quickly changed though when they heard blasts coming from the entrance to the area.
BOOM!
What happened next was the door being blown off its hinges, resulting in a cloud of smoke. What came out of the smoke were two individuals none of the inhabitants recognized.
"So this is where the humans are kept huh?" Charlo asked his sister
"Looks like it. Now it just looks like a paradise both humans AND gems enjoy their time here." She responded. After hearing that, he grit his teeth lightly in jealousy, but then quickly turned it into a slight smile.
"Well what do you say we rip away this "paradise" from them?"
"I say let's get this done as soon as we can. This is only the first phase of the mission and the sooner we get it done, the better." Charla explained to her impatient brother.
As those two were talking, a couple of Amethysts, Rose Quartzes and Zoomans made their way towards the loud sound they heard and noticed the duo. Of course, the twins noticed their prey too.
"I'll take care of the gems, you keep an eye on the humans." Charlo said to Charla as he eyed the gems in the bunch. She was hesitant with that plan.
"You sure you can handle it? There's bound to be a lot here."
"Yeah I'm sure. If all the gems here are quartzes, then they shouldn't be a problem." He assured her.
"Just remember not to shatter any of them. And don't hurt any of the humans badly either. Remember, Sir Daviron allowed us to join him in this. We don't want to disappoint him."
"Yeah yeah I know. Geez, you're such a pain in the ass, you know that Sis?" He complained to her in annoyance.
"The feeling is mutual brother". She said to him the same way.
Right away, Charlo left his spot and quickly ran towards the quartzes. As they tried to defend themselves by bracing their arms, but it was all in vein as he fired his aura spheres at the gems and poofing them right on the spot.
The humans in the group were shocked at how quickly the silver-skinned male poofed their gem friends. One of them wanted to run forth and tell him to stop.
"What are you doi-" a female zooman tried to say before she felt a sudden hit on the back of her neck before blacking out and falling forward towards the ground. The other humans saw that it was the other twin that knocked their friend out just now.
"It's best if you humans just stay put. If you do, then there won't be any trouble." She warned the humans.
As those humans stayed with Charla, as they were too scared to disobey her, Charlo continued his way through the area and attacked other quartzes around. Some didn't poof right away, like some amethysts and a carnelian that were rather resilient. However, they were still defeated by him and all that were left of them were their gemstones still intact.
After he was certain there were no more gems around, he made his way back to his sister. As he was making his way back, he noticed that there were at least three humans that were trying to hide from him after they saw what he did to their gem friends. When they realized he saw them, they ran away in fear. As he saw them run away, he decided to mess with them by flicking tiny spheres from his fingers towards their feet
"That's right, just dance on over to the front" he said mockingly as they were forced to comply while avoiding his spheres. However, in doing so, he got carried away and his little spheres were flicked at the humans arms and shoulders. As if they were shot by a bullet, the humans fell to the ground, as their blood was beginning to slowly spill out, staining the grass of the forest, they were about to scream in pain. It was then that Charlo knew he made a mistake.
This isn't good
"AHHHH!"
When she heard new voices of pain and anguish, Charla knew that her brother was behind it and decided to give him a piece of her mind, from her mind.
CHARLO! What did you do?!
It's not my fault! I was chasing some humans towards your location, but I got a little carried away and-
DAMN IT CHARLO! If any humans die, Sir Daviron is going to punish us severely!
Relax! None of the injuries I gave them are fatal. I'm on my way to you now.
After the brother finished his fiery telepathic chat with his sister, he carried the injured zoomans and ran towards her location where the other zoomans are. Once he arrived, he dropped the humans he was carrying on the ground next to other zoomans still standing. One of the well-known zoomans, J-10, decided to ask their captors something.
"W-why are you doing this?" J-10 asked in tears as she saw her fellow humans scared and injured while her gem friends were poofed.
"We're doing this in the name of our clan." Charla answered while looking J-10 in the eye.
"Clan?" J-10 repeated confusingly.
"That's right"
A new voice that was unfamiliar to the hostage zoomans, but the twins knew right off the bat made its way in. Walking through the completely opened entryway, was the hooded leader of the duo.
"Sir Daviron! The humans are gathered and the gems have retreated into their gems." Charla explained to her superior. Daviron was grateful that the twins did their jobs, but he did notice a couple of humans appeared injured. He then looked at his two soldiers.
"Can either of you explain to me why some of the humans are bleeding?"
"Sir Daviron, please excuse my recklessness, but I was just-" Charlo was trying to defend himself before his boss interrupted him.
"I don't want to hear it. So long as they are not dead is all that matters."
Daviron then looked at the zoomans, who were all scared, and then explained to them what would be happening.
"What my subordinate said earlier is correct. You are all hereby taken into custody in the name of our clan. I can assure that there won't be any further injuries from this point on".
After he said that, he closed his eyes, as if he was deep into thought.
The gems have retreated into their stones and the humans are gathered Master
Excellent. I will summon a portal to your location now.
Out of nowhere, a black portal then appeared behind Daviron and the twins, surprising the zoomans.
"Now, all of you are to walk through there." Daviron told the scared humans. They were hesitant to do so, but reluctantly did so when they saw the twins aim their hands towards them as they were charging up possible attacks.
"You two. Collect all the gems and throw them in the portal." Daviron ordered them.
"Yes sir" they both said
"I'll throw the first one in" the mysterious stranger said as he took something out of his cloak, the gemstone of Holly Blue Agate. Once he did, he tossed it into the black hole as the twins were gathering the remaining gemstones.
"Phase One complete"
PRESENT
With the memory of what happened still on their minds as they were walking backwards, away from Steven's incoming wall.
"You guys are going to tell me what happened NOW!" Steven demanded from them as he was still angry at them for what they did. Although the gems were worried about Steven's tone, they knew that the enemies couldn't break through his shield and threatening them would be their best chance at getting answers.
Despite their predicament, the twins nodded to each other, agreeing that they wouldn't talk. They soon reached a point where their backs were literally against the wall, on the other side of the containment area, waiting for the wall to crush them, even though Steven had no intention of doing that. However, they both sensed a familiar presence that was sure to help them out of this.
As Steven and everyone else kept their eyes on the two, they never noticed a small, but sharp projectile incoming from behind them. More specifically, it making its way to Steven. Before he realized it, he felt something sharp and pointy hitting the back of his neck.
"OW!"
"STEVEN!" Everyone on his side expressed worried as they quickly made their way to them as he clutched the back of his neck, dropping the wall in the process. The twins now had an opening as they had the same thought.
Now's our chance!
They sprinted their way towards their enemies while Steven was down and both fired their attacks at them. Amethyst quickly pushed Steven and Connie out of the way towards the recovering Blue Diamond. While Pearl, Garnet and Spinel avoided the attacks that were coming towards them and jumped away from the others until they were completely separated from them.
"Steven, are you ok? What happened?" Connie asked her boyfriend as he grieved in pain.
With his strength, he pulled out what caused him to lose his focus. He then quickly spit in his hand and applied it to the same spot so he could recover from the pain. He, Connie, Amethyst and Blue then looked down at what Steven was holding in his hand.
"What the heck is that?" Amethyst asked. They looked at what appeared to be a small, dark green arrowhead like weapon. Once Connie rubbed her finger across it, she had a theory on what it might be.
"Is that…. A scale?"
Everyone was confused, but wondering if it really was what Connie said. Blue widened her eyes slightly at the thought of where that scale came from.
Does that mean….?
Before the four of them could go into any deeper thought, they noticed a familiar and hateful figure standing right before them.
"Now that the wall is gone, why don't we have some fun?" Charlo said as he gave them a smug smile with his teeth showing.
At the same time, Garnet, Pearl and Spinel realized that they became separated from Steven and the others when they leaped out of the way from the projectile attacks. Pearl wanted to regroup right away.
"We need to get back to everyone else, pronto"
"Yeah we do" Spinel said, agreeing with Pearl as she was prepared to launch herself to Steven's direction by twisting her legs into a spring. Before she could though, some incoming blasts were making their way towards her, preventing her from leaving as she instead leaped away from the attacks.
"You're going to have to go through me first" said Charla in a cold tone as she focused her attention on the three foes before her.
What none of the gems realized though, was that Daviron was on the outside of the entryway, meaning he was the one that distracted Steven to lower his guard.
Charla, Charlo, I gave you a chance to make up for your recklessness earlier. I can't afford to leave the data extraction alone with those gems still here. So I'm entrusting you two to deal with them while Blue Diamond is still recovering.
As he made his way back to the monitor room, he was troubled by the thought of the human that summoned the pink wall.
Having enough aura to control such a defense is one thing, but when he was glowing earlier, I could feel his power growing greatly. Still, he seemed hesitant in using it. Hopefully, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm counting on you two.
On Steven's side of the battlefield, Charlo slammed his fist into his hand, showing his eagerness to fight. More specifically, fighting against Steven.
"I'm gonna enjoy this" He said with twisted excitement. His eyes made their way towards Connie as he wondered what she had to bring to a fight like this.
"What kind of powers do you have to bring to the table?" He asked her. She bravely stared back at him and gave her response boldly.
"Hate to disappoint you, but I don't have any powers."
Charlo was surprised at her response and it didn't look like she was lying. Now, he was just confused.
Then why is she here? What kind of backup is she?
Steven, Connie and Amethyst each looked at the enemy in front of them. However, Steven was worried about the safety of his girlfriend. He talked to her quietly so that their enemy wouldn't hear them.
"Connie, will you be ok? You don't have your sword on you."
"Going up against someone like this, I'm not so sure. But, I think I know someone who can." Connie said as she looked at her boyfriend with a smile. Right away, Steven knew what she meant as they both nodded to each other. Amethyst heard enough to know what they were going to do, and right now, they needed to in order to put Connie on equal grounds against this guy.
Charlo was confused at what they were nodding to. However, his confusion was settled once he saw them take each other's hands and they began glowing. He recognized it as fusion. They were no longer two people, but rather one, Stevonnie!
What?! They fused? How's that possible?
The next thing he saw was the fusion summoning a hexagonal shield and the short Amethyst summoning two whips from her gem. After that, Amethyst set her sights on the being that hurt the famethyst and declared what would happen next.
"It's payback time ya jerk!"
In response, he grinned and readied himself.
"Go ahead and try!"
Charlo quickly made the first move by firing multiple spheres at the gem and fusion. Amethyst quickly stood next to Stevonnie and behind their shield as they braced themselves for the attack(s). As they were, they realized that he wasn't letting up with the constant barrage.
"How are we gonna take him down if he's got us like this?" Amethyst asked the fusion. Within Stevonnie's mind, Connie and Steven were debating on what their strategy should be to take him down. Their shield is strong, but defense alone won't help them win.
After a couple seconds, Charlo made his way towards the shield as he continued to throw his spheres at the shield hoping to tire them out. Before he realized it, he noticed Amethyst had jumped up in the air, and in the open. Charlo was about to throw his attacks towards her in the air, but quickly noticed Stevonnie running towards him with their shield still in front of them in an attempt to tackle him.
When he realized they were doing, he instead aimed his left hand at Amethyst while she was up in the air, and kept his right arm aimed at the incoming fusion. He fired his attacks at both of them.
Stevonnie was pushed back as they kept the shield in front of them, but avoided damage. Amethyst on the other hand tried to use her whips to deflect the spheres, but took a couple hits that caused her to grit in pain.
"AMETHYST!" Stevonnie shouted to their friend.
Luckily, Amethyst pushed through the pain and regained control as she fell feet first behind Charlo. Now, Amethyst was on one side of Charlo, while Stevonnie was on the other. Although the attack made Amethyst sore, she wasn't going to go down that easily until she avenged the Famethyst.
Charlo decided to tease them more.
"Is that really the best you can do?"
Both Amethyst and Stevonnie grit their teeth as they said the exact same words in response.
"NOT EVEN CLOSE!"
Over at Garnet, Pearl and Spinel's location, they were readying themselves against the female twin. Before they started, Garnet warned her friends about what not to do.
"Whatever you two do, don't get too close to her. Close range combat is out of the question if she can fire those blasts, especially if she's standing right in front of us."
"Right" Pearl responded
"Gotcha" Spinel agreed. However, just because they shouldn't get close to her, doesn't mean that part of them shouldn't. Spinel enlarged her fists, stretched her arms out and threw them at Charla while her main body is still at a safe distance.
Charla didn't mind the attempt since it wasn't effective at all. She easily avoided the incoming fists and didn't even bother firing any blasts. Instead, she simply grabbed one of the outstretched arms, surprising Spinel, and with her strength, lifts the arm up and resulting in Spinel being lifted up off the ground. The cold individual then threw Spinel away from everyone else, including Steven's group, towards the open water of the zoo. Spinel splashed in the water, sinking to the bottom.
"Spinel!" Pearl said with worry.
Once Spinel was done with, for now at least, Charla then focused on Pearl and Garnet. She even asked them a favor.
"Please don't be to predictable."
Pearl and Garnet then looked at each other and knew what to do in order to beat her. They both reached out for each other in an attempt to fuse. However, unlike her brother, Charla quickly picked up on what they were up to and immediately fired blasts from her finger tips in an attempt to separate them and keep them from doing the act.
Garnet summoned out her gauntlets and brought her arms forward in an attempt to shield herself from the attacks. Garnet was strong enough to stand against the blasts, but that doesn't mean, she was taking any damage.
Pearl brought out her spear and tried to deflect the attacks coming towards her. Although she did better than Amethyst, she still got hit in her legs and shoulders.
Charla saw that they were struggling against her and repeated what she mentioned earlier.
"What did I say about being predictable?"
Amethyst is on one side, Stevonnie was on the other and Charlo is in the middle. He raised both his arms up, but pointed them in opposite directions. One towards Amethyst, the other towards Stevonnie. Amethyst summoned two of her whips and Stevonnie kept their shield in front of them. Stevonnie did show slight worry for Amethyst though, since she doesn't have a shield to protect her.
What Charlo did however surprised them as he jumped backwards, resulting in both of them now within his view and he fired away.
Stevonnie protected themselves right away. Amethyst used a different tactic to avoid the blasts and rolled herself into a ball and quickly spin dashed towards him while avoiding his attacks. He was surprised that she was gaining speed and getting closer to him with each passing second.
Charlo was now struggling to keep his eyes on both Amethyst AND the fusion if one of them is faster than the other.
He had his own creative idea and decided to blast at the ground he was standing on, resulting in a smokescreen that covered up their battle field. He was hoping that they would lose sight of him and he could attack them as they were looking. However, that theory was proven wrong when he heard a rushing sound coming towards him from behind.
Before he could be run over by Amethyst, he jumped in the air to avoid it and fired a strong sphere at her from her back just when she passed him. The force was enough for Amethyst to break Amethyst's concentration of her spin dashing and resulted in her falling and rolling on the ground.
Amethyst was sore and on her back. Before she could get back up, she was halted by a foot on her gem and another on her left arm to keep her from summoning her whips. She could feel the weight he was putting on her gem and she felt pain because of it.
"I'm surprised you haven't poofed already. I guess you're more durable to my attacks, unlike those other pathetic quartzes." He said mockingly. This just increased Amethyst's rage as he kept mocking the only Amethysts she saw as sisters. She tried harder to get back up, but struggled in doing so.
Although he wanted to crush the purple gem with his foot, he knew that there was another foe to take care of, the fusion. While the smokescreen was still surrounding them, he kept his eyes out for them as he was ignoring Amethyst struggling below him.
Where are you?
He soon noticed a silhouette in the smoke that showed body language full of confusion, which was exactly what he was hoping for. While it appeared like their back was toward him, he readied his arm and began charging up an attack.
Bye Bye fusion!
However, before he could blast his enemy…
CRASH!
Charlo was tackled from behind and could feel some intense force behind it. He turned around and saw that it was the human male that summoned the wall earlier. Only difference is that this time, he's pink and he's not wearing his pink hoodie.
What the?
He looked back at the silhouette and with the smoke clearing up, he noticed it was the other human, but she was actually wearing the male's hoodie. He realized that they set him up.
Damn it! They unfused so that they could mislead me!
FLASHBACK
As they were caught in the smokescreen, Stevonnie mentally planned what their next move should be in the midst of this trouble.
Steven, we should unfuse.
What?!
Right now, we can't see anything, but I have a feeling he can't either. If we unfuse, and I become a decoy, you can catch him off guard and take him down.
No Way! Connie, that'll just put you in danger. You don't have your sword. We saw what he can do, no offense, but you don't stand a chance against him.
None taken Steven. You're right,, I don't stand a chance against him. But you and I both know YOU have a way better one against him.
But, he's fast Connie. I can't just let him-
Steven! I know you're worried. So am I. But if we don't do something soon, he's gonna finish us off, just like he did everyone here.
After the mental debate, Stevonnie nodded to themselves in agreement as they unfused and one person was separated into two late teens. Although Steven was against it, he thought back at how this guy hurt and mocked the inhabitants here, and wanted nothing more than to shove his face in the ground. This resulted in him glowing pink, and his and Connie's plan about to begin.
PRESENT
Frustrated at being tricked, Charlo tried to get back up as he was now face down on the ground with Steven holding him down as Amethyst gladly tied up his feet and arms from behind his back with her whips. Steven pinning him down was preventing him from using any of his attacks.
Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
Garnet and Pearl continued staring down at Charla, despite the damage they took. They knew that Charla would just try to blast them again if they attempted to fuse into Sardonyx. So they had to think of another way to handle her.
While they were doing that, Charla was thinking about how to take them down.
The pearl is better at defending herself from my projectiles than the other gem. But it looks like that gem is more resilient to my attacks. Looks like I'm actually going to have to improvise.
After she finished her thought, she once again fired blasts from her finger tips. Only this time, she ran forward towards the gems as she was firing.
Both Garnet and Pearl did their best to defend themselves, but still took more heavy hits. It only got worse when the attacker herself was getting closer to them. Charla, taking advantage of their damaged states, went in for the kill. She quickly stood in front of Garnet and dealt her a heavy roundhouse kick to her side, resulting in Garnet being blown away a couple feet.
"GARNET!" Pearl shouted worriedly as she saw Garnet take such a hit.
"I'd be more concerned with yourself"
Before Pearl realized it, Charla appeared in front of her ready to do the same thing. However, Pearl still had some fight in her and defended herself against Charla's kicks and fists using her spear. Even though Pearl was more challenging against this foe than Garnet, Pearl could still feel fatigue setting in as her movements were beginning to slow down. Charla took advantage of this and dealt Pearl a heavy palm strike with enough force to knock Pearl off her feet and down to the ground.
Pearl refused to retreat into her gem. She was about to get up, but the same person that knocked her down was standing right on top of her left arm and right leg, forbidding Pearl to give up.
Charla looked down at Pearl with eyes filled with coldness and aimed one finger at Pearl that was charging up. Pearl could only look with a mix of frustration and fear, wondering if she's actually going to be poofed or even shattered.
Before Charla could release her blast, she felt something heavy hit her in the back of the head!
What the?
Before she fell on the ground, she saw that what hit her was a fist. Looking closer at it, she recognized it.
"You and your friend aren't the only ones that can fire projectiles"
Charla saw that not only was the one called "Garnet" still standing, but she was the one who fired the rocket gauntlets. This just made Charla confused as she regained her balance.
"What kind of gem are you?" She asked Garnet loud enough for her to hear from the distance.
"I'm a gem made out of love. The unity of two that have overcome so much and will always stay strong!" Garnet said to her foe proudly.
Although Charla was confused by the metaphor, it was enough for her to put the pieces together.
"So you're a fusion. No wonder my brother or I couldn't recognize you."
I'm surprised that this fusion isn't made up of two of the same gem.
"Still, even though you managed to land a hit on me, both you and your friend there are barely standing. You won't be able to land another hit" Charla said as she aimed her fingers at both Garnet and Pearl, who was just getting up. Garnet responded to that statement with a smirk.
"We don't need to"
"What?"
Charla wondered out loud before she was suddenly sandwiched by two enlarged pink hands, covering her on both sides. She turned her head slightly and saw who the hands belonged to. The gem she thought was a pushover, Spinel.
"Miss me?" The goofy gem asked, as she was still soaked from the water she was flung to. Charla wondered how she didn't notice her coming, but came up with a theory and turned her head back at Garnet.
"That gauntlet you launched at me. Was that just to distract me so this gem could sneak up behind from behind and trap me?"
Garnet only gave a slight smile in response, confirming Charla's suspicion.
"How's that for predictable?"
Frustrated, Charla could only lower her head and berate herself for falling for such a trick.
After Garnet helped Pearl up, she then walked up towards the trapped enemy and asked her a question.
"What did you and your brother really do the inhabitants here?"
Charla had risen her head slightly in response, wondering if this fusion actually saw through Charlo's earlier lies.
Charlo was still trying to get back up, but struggled in doing so with Steven on top of him. All he could do was grit his teeth and curse under his breath.
If Steven was being honest with himself, he really wanted to knock this guys teeth out for what he and his twin did to the zoomans, the famethyst, the rose quartzes and even Holly Blue. However, he promised himself he wouldn't get out of control and hurt the others around him. He tried to play it cool and asked calm, but firmly.
"I'll ask you again. Where is everyone!?"
Charlo only grinned in response.
"I already told you didn't I? They're either lifeless or in pieces"
Because he did, Amethyst tightened the whip around his hands and feet, causing him to grimace.
"Bastard" Amethyst said to him. Although she doesn't usually curse in front of Steven and Connie, they weren't surprised at all to hear her say that. Probably because they were both thinking the same thing.
Connie walked in front of him so that he could see her and squatted down closer to his eye level.
"How about you actually tell us the truth. I'm not buying that whole, "I shattered and killed everyone here" act. If you actually did, there would be shards and bodies everywhere. Mind telling us where they are?" Connie asked fiercely, playing a sort of mix of good cop/bad cop.
"Screw you all! I have nothing to say." Charlo barely said out loud as he was getting tired from getting out of Steven's hold.
Blue Diamond then slowly stood up back on her feet, showing that she was getting better.
"Blue, are you alright" Steven asked with concern as he maintained his weight on the rude enemy.
"I'm not at 100%, but I am better." She answered back to Steven. However, she shifted her attention to the male twin that was under Steven.
"It's better that you tell us the truth now and we won't have to hurt you any further" Blue offered to him. However, this only caused him to widen his eyes as he mentally repeatedly a word that Blue had just said.
Hurt?
Charla refused to answer Garnets questions as she kept trying to escape Spinel's enlarged grasp. Spinel decided to talk her out of her attempts of escape.
"Don't bother. You and your brother hurt Blue, so there's no way I'm letting you go."
Even though her feelings weren't as strong as Steven's or Amethyst's, Pearl still felt anger too and decided to give the enemy an earful.
"Honestly, I don't know why you two would want to cause so much pain to innocent gems and humans"
Like her brother, the trapped foe widened her eyes at the thought of a certain word Pearl just said.
Pain?
As the leader just finished containing the data on a high tech looking flash drive, he could feel a change in pressure throughout the ship and realized what was going on and knew things would only result in disaster.
Those fools!
At both locations, everyone could feel an intense pressure. For Blue, it was just like what she felt earlier and realized that not only was it coming from the enemy Steven was trying to hold down, but his sister from the other side of the zoo. Both twins refused to look at their enemies in the eyes any longer, but said their pieces.
"You won't hurt me any further? Are you gems really that dense? Hate to break it to you, but you're a little late to be saying that" Charlo said as Steven was now suddenly losing his hold on Charlo. Steven could somehow feel this guy getting stronger by the minute.
Back at the other side.
"Those "innocent" gems feel pain? The humans too? What we put them through is NOTHING compared to what we've gone through!" Charla said as she was now pushing Spinel's hands away from her sides. Spinel was confused at how strong she got all of a sudden.
Garnet and Pearl were feeling uneasy at the power they were feeling. Not only could they feel the intense pressure, but they could somehow pick up something ominous as well.
Steven didn't know how, but all of a sudden, Charlo was suddenly pushing himself up from the ground without any difficulty, even with Steven still on top of him. The human-gem hybrid couldn't hold him down any longer as he was pushed off of the enemy. Steven, Connie, Amethyst and Blue then noticed he was surrounded by some sort of mysterious energy as soon as he stood back on his two feet.
After everyone's astonishment at his newfound strength, he set his gaze on Blue.
"I figured you wouldn't recognize what me and my sister are. After all, it wasn't your court that did it. But then again, you probably didn't care. You were probably mourning all that time."
Charla then had her own words to share to the others as her power was growing too.
"You think you know what pain is?"
"You think I've never been hurt?" Charlo said to his foes. Once he did, even though they didn't know it, the twins said the exact same words to the gems they were facing.
"YOU KNOW NOTHING!" They said with pure hatred and the power surrounding them just skyrocketed. Everyone was too scared to move. Whatever was going on with these two is nothing like they've ever felt before.
Steven summoned his shield, but something told him that it alone wouldn't be able to stand against this. He and everyone could barely stand against these two earlier. Heck, even Blue struggled against them and apparently, they weren't even using their full power. Now that their enemies are like this, do they actually stand a chance against them?
As both twins were slowly walking towards their own group of gems, they were ready to finish things up now and put an end to all this trouble.
However….
THUMP THUMP
Both twins felt like their own hearts were stopping. With each passing second, they were losing strength and noticed that their vision were getting dark. Both Charla and Charlo realized what this meant.
This- This is….
Damn it! Not now!
Everyone was surprised that the twin they were facing suddenly fell down after displaying such intense power. They all felt relieved once they didn't feel the pressure they were giving off anymore. However, that didn't stop them from being cautious.
"Is he…. dead?" Connie asked
Steven wondered that himself as he slowly made his way towards the one that was trying to kill them. He had his shield in front of him just in case he woke up. Once Steven got close enough, he could see that Charlo was still breathing, but only slightly.
"He's still alive, but I don't think he's getting up anytime soon" Steven confirmed.
"Good" Amethyst said as she readied her whips to tie up the one she wanted to beat to a pulp.
Over with Garnet, Pearl and Spinel, they too were confused at how their opposer fainted out of nowhere. They knew that they had to restrain her before she woke up. Pearl immediately brought out some rope she kept inside her gem.
"I don't know what happened, but we have to act fast."
Garnet nodded in agreement, and seeing as how there were no more sounds of explosions or smoke at Steven's side of the zoo, she figured that either they defeated the other twin, or the same thing happened to him as did his sister.
"Let's get her over to Steven. If we do, than he should be able to keep her and the other one restrained in a bubble." Garnet said. Pearl and Spinel agreed that Steven would be the best option since the twins seemed to have a hard time breaking through his wall earlier. After Pearl finished tying up Charla and handing her over to Garnet, Pearl gave her response.
"Right"
"Let's go!" Spinel was eager to catch up with Blue and Steven and be sure that they are safe. Garnet took the lead, carrying an unconscious Charla in her arm. Pearl followed behind her while Spinel took the rear.
As those three were making their way through the zoo to catch up with the others, they felt strange. It felt as if they were being watched.
"Everyone Stop!" Garnet said as everyone immediately froze in place. All three gems kept their guard up. Garnet knew something wasn't right when Steven was hit by some scale out of nowhere. Could it be that these twins didn't come here alone?
Pearl immediately brought out her spear and prepared herself for any more surprises.
Spinel made her fists bigger and took a fighting position in cast anything were to happen. She should have paid more attention behind her instead. Spinel's head was immediately slammed into the ground!
Before Pearl or Garnet could react, Pearl felt a heavy hit dealt to her up front, causing her to fall on her knees. Garnet then felt Charla leave her hands and was then punched into a still intact tree, causing it to fall over. In a matter of seconds, the three of them were knocked down by a single force and Charla had escaped their grasp.
As soon as Amethyst finished tying up Charlo's feet and hands for the second time, Steven quickly put a big bubble around him. That way in case he broke free from Amethyst's restraints, he'd have a hard time escaping the bubble.
"When do you think he'll wake up?" Connie asked, looking at the unconscious male inside Steven's bubble.
"He better wake up soon. I want to punch him in the face until he talks. Can't do it if he's out cold" Amethyst said bitterly as she really wanted to rough him up for not only what he did but what he said about the famethyst.
"It's hard to tell" Blue said suddenly. The others looked up at her as she kept her eyes focused on the unknown being. She then shared her thoughts.
"That power he was releasing earlier. It was unlike anything I've ever felt before. It was so intense. I could feel it from the other side of the zoo as well, so his sister must have done the same thing. I can't imagine what effect it would have on their bodies. So there's no telling how long they will be out."
Everyone just looked at the trapped man and think about what Blue just explained. Steven couldn't help but wonder about the intensity this guy was giving off earlier. He looked back to where Garnet, Pearl and Spinel were and felt relieved when Blue said that the other twin had been defeated by her own power. Still, he couldn't help but think about that very subject.
What kind of being has this kind of power?
When everything seemed to be ok, something was travelling at such a high speed and managed to strike Steven in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground and dropping the bubble.
"STEVEN!" Connie, Blue and Ametyhst yelled in worry. Connie rushed over to him to make sure he was ok. He was just groaning in pain and holding the very spot in the back of his head that was hit.
Amethyst was then suddenly punched in the gut, forcing her away from the group. Amethyst being struck caused the whips around Charlo to disappear.
"Amethyst!" Connie said worried for her friend. Blue was just as worried about what was going on since nobody saw who or what just attacked Steven and Amethyst. She and Connie looked around to see if whoever it was was still around, but they noticed that Charlo was gone from the spot he passed out on. She looked back down at Steven, then where Amethyst was landed and finally where the twin originally was. She was feeling hysterical and then asked herself….
"What's going on now?!"
The twins were now lying next to each other next to a tree and away from the gems. Both were barely conscious as they felt that their strength was gone.
Charla was the first to start waking up and could see a familiar color that made her relieved, white. The very same color of the cloak worn by their superior.
"S-Sir…. Daviron?" She asked with little strength she had left.
"What were you two thinking? Your bodies are not use to using such intense aura. It's too early for you both to be using that kind of power." He scolded them quietly and coldly.
"Sir, we just-" She tried to respond before he interrupted her.
"I don't want to hear it. We'll discuss this later. For right now, you two need to recover and regain your strength." He told her and her unconscious brother. He then looked back to where he rescued them.
"I'll finish things up here"
Steven brought his hand to his face so he could spit in it and place it on the spot where it was hurting. Although he still felt sore, he slowly got back up with Connie's help. They then noticed Amethyst coming back from where she was launched and was followed by Garnet, Pearl and Spinel, who all looked like were just dealt heavy hits.
"What happened to you guys?" He asked
"Those two were not alone" Garnet said as she was clutching the spot on her form she was punched earlier. Steven and Connie widened their eyes with worry while Blue was saddened to hear that her earlier suspicions were correct.
"Whatever that was, it took one of the two that attacked us" Pearl said as she was leaning against Garnet.
"Same here" Connie said as they noticed their opponent was missing too. Amethyst cursed under breath when she saw he was gone. Steven then had enough strength to stand on his own without Connie and made his way towards the others.
"Here, let me heal you guys. You guys all took a lot of hits." Steven said as everyone else complied. Steven then did his magic and healed the gems from the damage they took.
"Thanks man" Amethyst said as she felt better physically, but was still upset that the enemy got away. Steven was about to comfort her before a new voice came into the scene.
"So not only can you put up an incredible defense, but you can heal damage too? Interesting."
Everyone turned around as they saw a white cloaked figure on the other side of them with its hood up. It just stood in one spot as it stared down at the others. Everyone else felt uneasy, seeing as there was another enemy.
"I'll admit that you all surprised me by surviving against my pupils."
"I'm guessing that means you're the one in charge of this assault?" Blue said looking down at the him quite fiercely.
"Yes" He simply said.
"If that's the case, then where are the humans and gems?" Garnet asked boldly as she had her gauntlets up.
"I wouldn't worry about that. If I were you all, I'd ready myself." He said boldly as he looked at them with the one eye that was hidden within his hood.
