Seed of Love: Red Hat and Blair

A/N: I originally wanted this to be a oneshot, after thinking about it. It's better off as full on short story. Reason I say short is cause I don't want to bloat all of you with unnecessary amounts of pading.

How did it come to this? This is a question that the Red Hat has been asking himself lately. Red Hat was currently fidgetting in his seat inside a the lobay at the hopsital. He ignored the many conversations and comments from many people that were also at the lobby for their own reasons. Mostly appointments they had to deal with. Why was he there? Red Hat was waiting for none other then his wife Blair.

It had been months since Red Hat had caused the very thing that would change his life forever. That would be starting a family for the very first time, with Blair by his side... If she delivered safey. To say the Red Hat was terrified was an understatment. He was practically was shaking and often lowered his hat to hide the fact he was terrified. Sometimes he would pace back and forth through at the lobby. He was restless, he couldn't stopping thinking of all the possiblities that could go wrong, he couldn't eat, he couldn't even sleep. He just couldn't, not without knowing if Blair was at least okay.

"Kids are so impaitent these days." A woman comments.

"He's not even a man yet." Another woman comments.

"Just what was he thinking? He better not leave her behind." A man comments.

Red Hat sat down on his previous seat and slumped, ignoring the comments he got from random people at the hospital. 'Only one night Blair and I did... that. that was more then enough...' Red Hat thought as he covered his face with his palms. 'Blair keeps saying it was alright, but I'm not too sure... I don't like seeing her hurt...'

As Red Hat continues to think about his current predicament. He then begins to remember everything, when it all began...

9 Months Earlier

It was another peaceful and quiet day at Red Hat's home. Inside his home lived his beautiful blue haired wife Blair Flannigan. She wore a long blue dress that went close to her heels, a long white sleeved shirt, a white apron, and wore heels. Blair has only recently turned 18 years of age sometime ago. Blair, currently was alone inside, doing her usual house work. Blair on a regular basis did all the house work. Knowing that her husband highly appreciated her hard work, and fully enjoyed being a house wife. She occasionally stares at her wedding ring, smiling that after all these years, she got what she truly desired. Not only a lovable husband that supports her, but a husband she truly loved and does her best to please him in many ways, not just in the house hold, but also in dueling, just like she promised when she used to be at Duel Academy.

Despite being only two years since Blair graduated from Duel Academy and moved in with Red Hat on that same day after her graduation. She never gave up her passion for dueling, just as much as she never gave up her passion for being 'A Maiden in Love.' She made a promise to him, that she would become the top student and become a powerful duelist to met his expectations. Despite some hardship, Blair faced, to her, it was all worth it. Just to be the one she loves. How ironic, considering long ago, if she chosed a different path, she would never have a place to call home or a lovely husband. Instead, she would be in a much worse position overall, if she chosed 'him'.

Blair smiled at all the memories she shared, not just with him, but all her friends she made at the Academy. It had only been a year since she got married to the one known as the Red Hat. At first her parents did not approve of her marrige or moving in with a man so early and so young, and just right after graduation. While she understood her parents concern, she always have to keep telling them, she's far happier being with Red Hat, then without him. She even told them it was Red Hat who offered to stay with him in his new home, despite telling her they could wait it out. But she wanted none of that and immeadiately settled in with Red Hat in her new home.

'To think, our connection started. Just because he found out my identety when I snuck in at Duel Academy all those years ago.' Blair thought with a smile. Even to this day, she never regretted her disicions. She was happily married and that's all that mattered to her. Despte that, she still kept up with dueling, since that's what her husband enjoys and she didn't want to fall behind. She made a promise to keep on improving, to be his equal, someone who can stand on her own two feet while staying true to herself.

Once Blair finished her house work. She sat down on the couch and began inspecting her deck. Despite the advent of the new Synchro mechanic that has been released and slowly growing in popularity. Blair didn't mind playing her deck pure. Sometimes she run tuners for Synchros plays when she has to. Sometimes she wished Lightsworn had their own tuners so she didn't have to run Plaguespreader Zombie, Synchrons, or the Psychic tuner monsters, but she was okay with that for now. 'I'll just keep experimenting with more builds. After all, that's the fun thing about dueling.' She thought as she put her deck away.

Shortly afterwards, Red Hat returned to his home. "Blair, I'm home." Red Hat announced as he put away some of his things nearby.

Blair turned to face him, and smiled. "Morning darling." Blair got up and greeted him with a kiss. "So how was the Pro Leagues this time around?"

"So so, really. It's been slow, but I've been enjoying the duels I do get." Red Hat replied.

"That's good to hear. Least you're enjoying yourself." Blair then took notice of a magazine Red Hat was holding. "Is this what I think it means?" She wondered.

"It's basically sponsorships for many duelists. Many want to sponsor me after getting many win streaks." Red Hat explained.

"And did you take those sponsorships?" She asked.

Red Hat shook his head. "No, I turned them down. I said this before, I want to do things my way. I don't care for fame and glory. Money is one thing, but I don't want to rely on just that. Besides, the leagues pay well enough on their own. I even sell prize cards for extra money."

Blair tilt her head to the side in confusion. "Why would you do that? Don't those prize cards mean anything to you?"

Red Hat chuckled at that. "Many prize cards are illegal to play in offical duels. Most of them being match winners. I can't play them even if I wanted to. They are very pricy to buy, so I sell them for extra money. Collectors pay big bucks for those cards."

"Oh I see..." Blair replied.

"Besides, I already have my trophy prize card and that's Victory Dragon. I'm sure you seen it on the mantle." Red Hat said.

Blair turned around to where the mantle was. There she now noticed there was a pitcure frame, that contained the card inside. Blair blushed, not realizing that was his trophy. "I didn't know... I guess I never bothered to actually look at it."

Red Hat chuckled and ruffled her hair. "That's alright, my dear." Red Hat walked further and sat down on a chair next to the dinner table. "I normally don't ask this, but what's for dinner today?"

Blair went to the kitchen and started to prepare their meal. "With all the turkey we have in our fridge, I decided to make something a little different. How about some mashed potatos with some turkey?"

Red Hat gave her a smile. "I would like that. Your cooking is always amazing."

Blair lightly blushed, but kept her calm demeanor as she began to cooking. "Thank you... I been improving my cooking skills, along with my dueling skills."

"That's great to hear. You've come a long way my dear." Red Hat responded.

"All for you my darling." Blair replied.

It took a while, but once Blair finished her cooking. She served both a turkey and mashed potatoes with some vegetables. While it was a bit much. Red Hat was eating as much as he could, with manners. Blair lightly giggled at his antics. Some things never change even after their academy days. Blair places spice into her food, as she always loved spicey food and often placed spice into her own personal meals.

A while later after their big meal. "Mmm, a great meal like always. Thank you Blair." Red Hat thanked, as he began cleaning up the dinner table and washing the dishes.

"You're too kind my darling." Blair replied as she cleaned up the rest of the table and the kitchen when Red Hat finished up his cleaning.

Later that Night

Red Hat and Blair soon turned in. After changing to their night clothes, they decided to sleep.. until Blair interrupted Red Hat when she exited the restroom.

Red Hat tried not ot blush at the sight of his wife. He tried to hide it by lowering his hat, but Blair knew better. Blair wore a very thin nightgown that showed off all her delicate features. Red Hat could see that she did not wear undergarmets and the nightgown was clearly see through. 'You enjoy teasing me don't you.'

Blair giggled at his reaction. "This isn't the first time you seen me like this. What's so different this time?"

Red Hat shook his head and looked at Blair. "Nothing... Sometimes I can't help but stare at the beauty that's in front of me."

Blair sits down on their bed and gave him a deep kiss. "You shouldn't take this too seriously. We haven't done it since our honeymoon." Blair teases him more and exposes herself a bit.

Red Hat fought the urge to pounce on her and take her there and now. "Blair... sometimes I don't know how to react. Sometimes, I just want to ravish you here and now."

Blair shushed him with her finger. "Not another word. When I'm like this, don't be afraid to take me. I long since agreed, that so long as you take care of me and even yourself. I'm here for you and and your needs. I also want this since then."

"Blair..." Red Hat then removed his clothes and Blair's nightgown and pounced on her. Both began to have rough night of passion. Both not giving a care.

Two Weeks Later

A couple of weeks have passed since their night of passion. After a while Blair soon began to feel sick early in the morning. Occasionally, she would throw up inside the rest room. Red Hat often woke up and went with her to comfort her when that happened. He thought that maybe she ate something that her stomach didn't agree with. Until he realized, he himself never got sick from eating Blair's food. So that was out of the question. Red Hat would pat and rub her back after Blair was done throwing up and often gave her a massage, to calm her down. Blair highly appreciated that, even she has to tell him, it's okay.

"Blair, this has been going on for a whie now. You sure, you're okay?" Red Hat asked, worried about Bair.

"I'll be fine, darling. If it continues then I'll get a doctors appointment." Blair repied, feeling relax after her husband's massage.

"I'm just worried is all. If you say so, then I'll take your word for it." Red Hat muttered. "I'll be heading to the tournament scene again. You sure you'll do alright while I'm gone?"

Blair kissed him as a response. "I appreciate that you care, but I'm not helpless. I'll be fine. Besides..." Blair takes a look at her clock and notices the time. "...You can't be late for your next match, so I'll prepare you breakfast."

Red Hat get's up and get's properly dressed, along with Blair to begin their morning routine. While Blair was cooking, she had become a bit more nauesous to the smells of the food she cooks. She had to take it easy as to not feel nauesous when making Red Hat and herself breakfast.

Soon Red Hat left to get to his next match at the leagues, while Blair stayed behind and began her house work. Blair, however, finished at a much faster pace this time around. She realized that Red Hat was right. She can't put this off much longer. She'll have to make a doctors appointment sooner or later to figure out what is wrong with her. She hoped it wasn't anything too bad and she can handle it. The last thing she wants is to worry her husband.

'I need to make appointments. The longer I put this off. The more my love will worry. I should get started.' She thought and began to start making some phone calls and other related works. She knew she needed to get paper work done as she barely came of age. Otherwise she wouldn't be able to do things without her love by her side.

Later that evening, Blair already prepared dinner for herself and her husband. Soon enough he came in at just the right time.

"Hello honey, sorry I'm late. The match took longer then expected... And I had things to take care of." Red Hat explained as he put away his things.

"Oh, hello darling." Blair greeted. "That's alright. At least you came home." Blair then sat down at he dinner table. "Dinner is ready, darling."

Red Hat smiled and sat down at the opposite of the dinner table. "Thank you, Blair. And it looks delicious as usual."

Blair giggled at his reply. "Thanks, I do my best to give you the best food I can cook."

"I very much appreciate all you hard work my dear." Red Hat replied and began eating the food Blair prepared.

As they were eating, Blair spoke up. "Darling, I decided to make a doctor's appointment."

"An appointment?" Red Hat question. "So when will you go?"

"It's in the afternoon on Saturday." Blair said as she ate a bit of her food. "I want to know if I'm sick or have any other problems."

"I hope it's nothing too bad." Red Hat as he finished eating. "I don't anything to happen to you."

Blair gave him a warm smile. "You worry too much. I appreicate it, but I'm not a helpless little girl anymore." Blair got up from her seat and gave him a hug from behind. "Still, it means a lot that you care."

Red Hat got up from his seat and gave her a hug. "I just don't want anything to happen to you my dear. You mean too much to me."

Blair gave him a warm smile. "I promise, I'll be just fine my dear." Blair let go of the hug and began cleaning up the dinner table and the dishes. After while both went to their bedroom and slept through the night.

A Few Days Later

Blair didn't know how to feel at the moment. She sat at the main lobby waiting for her turn to be called in for her appointment. She felt nervous and a bit of anxiety at the same time. She couldn't help shake the fact, that something could be wrong with her. She hoped that wasn't the case. She noticed a lot of people were sitting around her or standing around, also waiting for their appointments.

'So many people here. It makes me feel even more nervous. I'm really young here.' Blair thought as she kept looking around her surroundings. 'Maybe, I should have waited until Red Hat had time off, so we can come here together...'

After what felt like an eternity, Blair's number was finally called. Blair got up from here seat and followed the directions she was given. She soon met up with her doctor and entered the room with him. Blair took a deep breath to calm herself down before sitting down the other end of the doctor's desk. The doctor sat down at his chair and took papers and filies from his cabinet.

"Greetings, young lady." The doctor greeted. "State your business before we begin."

"I'm here on for my appointment. I wanted to know if there's anything wrong with my health." Blair answered politely.

"I see." The doctor pulled out some papers. "Name and age please."

"My name is Blair Flannigan, I recently turned 18 years old." Blair answered.

The doctore began writing down on the papers. "Are you single or married? Do you live alone or with your parents?"

"I'm married and I live with my husband." Blair answered.

"You have an ID?"

"No, I don't sadly." Blair replied.

"I see, do you know the location of your or your husband's home?"

"Our home is in the far outskirts of the city. Where, I don't know exactly." Blair answered.

"I see." The doctor wrote down the current information he had. "Mind explaining what is wrong with you?"

"You see, after a couple weeks, I've feeling rather nauesous during the morning. Sometimes I'd throw up in the restroom, but after that I started feeling alright. I even eat softer foods, even though I highly doubt it's food poisoning." Blair explained.

The doctor continued to write down the information. "Do you have any sort of allergies?"

"None that I'm aware of." Blair replied.

"I see." The doctor wrote down all the possible information he could gather. "Alright, do come over here to examination."

Blair followed the doctor to the interior of the room, where all the equipment was kept. Blair felt a little embarrassed about the kind of test she was going to do, but calmed down. She shouldn't be acting this way, even if it's her first time doing these kinds of test. It turns out, none of the tests and examination were what she would call embarrassing. Most of the examination was mostly very basic things. It was only until the blood samples where she got a bit nervous. Not because ofthe needles or blood, but rather what will the test be.

After what felt like hours have past. Blair was finally getting her results.

"Alright. I can confirm that nothing too drastic is wrong." The doctor answered.

"So I'm good to go?" Blair questioned.

"Not quite..." The doctor handed her some notes which contained some instructions. "It's too early to tell, but follow what stated here and come back at another date. We'll need more samples in order to fully confirm."

Blair took the notes from the doctor's desk. "Thank you. I'll come back at a later date."

The doctor nodded. "You are dismissed."

Blair leaves the room and takes a look at her notes... only for her eyes to widened at what she was reading.

'Can it be? No... it can be. It just can't...' Blair thought, now shuddering at the thought where it could be true. She wouldn't know until she properly does the tests she was tasked to do. Blair soon left the hospital with the supplies she was tasked to get, and walked back home.

Later that Evening

Blair had return home, just before her husband returned home. She did her best to hide all the supplies she got, as well as the results from her examination. She knew, she'll have to tell him eventually. This isn't something she can keep a secret even if the tests are true. Blair shook her head and began cooking again for once Red Hat returned home.

"Blair, I'm home." Red Hat announced as he put away his things.

"Hello darling." Blair greeted, trying to keep calm. "How was your day today?"

Red Hat sat at the dinner table. "It was alright. Few matches here and there." He said and looked up to Blair. "So how was your appointment? You figured out what's wrong?"

Blair stayed silent for a few minutes. 'Should I tell him?' She thought. 'No, not yet. Until I can fully confirm, I don't want him to worry and be too shocked.' Blair took a deep breath and exhaled. This didn't go unnoticed by Red Hat who raised an eye brow. "The appointment went well. Actually I'll be going again in a couple days for further examination. Just to be sure everything is alright."

Red Hat stared at her for a bit. 'More tests... Blair I hope you aren't hiding anything...' Red Hat turned around before looking back at Blair. "I hope it turns out well. Multiple tests is usually not normal... As far as I'm aware."

"When everything is said and done. I'll tell you about it okay." Blair assured him.

"Okay... I'll be holding you to that my dear." Red Hat replied. Soon Blair came to the dinner table with their dinner all ready. After eating and cleaning up their mess. They went to their bedroom to rest up. Blair having a bit of a hard time sleeping, as she was constantly thinking what will the following days bring her.

A Few Days Later

Blair left the hospital with a startling discovery... She was pregnant... with Red Hat's child. Blair didn't know if she wanted to be happy or very very scared. How will her husband react? How will their relationship change? How will they handle this? Are they even ready for such a life? Will they be good parents? Blair had so many questions, all of which she had no answer for. Blair slowly felt anxious, hoping not to freak out her husband at the news. He always loved to duel, especially at the pro curcuit. She didn't want him to change so quickly and to adapt to a life he doesn't want.

Blair shook her head and kept a stern face. She shouldn't be acting this way. After all, she was the one to fully give herself up when her husband took her that night. She won't back from her dicisions. She'll have to work this out with her husband. She is a Maiden in Love she won't back down from this, no matter the cost.

'I may be pregnant, but I won't back down now. Even when we begin our family life. At heart, we are still duelists. I may prefer being a house wife, but I'll always enjoy and improve my dueling. That's the main reason why I improved so much. I owe him a lot.' Blair thought, soon smiling at the thoughts, despite the complications.

Blair arrived at her home and layed down on the couch. She soon began difting to sleep, waiting for her husband to arrive. She hopes nothing wrong would happen when the time comes to finally tell him. This is huge news and she can not put it off. No matter how much she tries to hide it. Blair slept for a lot longer then she did. As she woke up, Red Hat was already home and was eating a sandwich.

"Oh, so you woke up my dear." Red Hat said as he took a bite from his sandwich.

Blair rubbed her eyes and blinked several times. "Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You looked so peaceful sleeping there Blair." Red Hat lowered his hat. "Besides... I didn't want to wake you from your beauty sleep."

Blair blushed at his comment. "Oh? Um... thank you for being so considerate." Blair sat up and stretched her arms.

"So how was it?" Red Hat asked. "It's been a while since we last talked about it."

Blair froze for a bit. Should she tell him now? She shoock her head. "I'll tell you later tonight my love. It's... private matters for you and me."

Red Hat raised an eye brow, but thought nothing of it. "Then we'll wait. I hope you tell me. You're being too quiet lately." Red Hat gets up and takes a sandwich from the dinner table he left and brought it to Blair. "Here I made you a sadwich." Red Hat lightly blushed and lowered his hat. "It's not the best quality, but it's the best I could do."

Blair took the sandwich and gave him a warm smile. "How thoughtful." Blair took a bite of her sadwich and actually like it. "It may not be the best, but thank you. You tried your best. That's what count."

"Thank you Blair." Red Hat sat down next to Blair. Enjoying their company until nightfall.

Later that Night.

Blair was sitting on her bed, twiddling her fingers until Red Hat came inside their room. She was scared, she was nervous, and she had a lot of thoughts running through her head. 'How will he react?' Blair then took a deep breath. 'Why am I acting like this now? I'm never like this efore. Why now?' She thought as Red Hat sat down next to her on their bed.

"So what do you have to tell me Blair?" Red Hat asked.

Both of them stayed silent for a shot while. After a few awkward moments. Blair son decided to speak up. "As you know, the results came up today."

"And what's the matter? I hope it's nothing serious." Red Hat replied.

"No nothing like that..." Blair stuttered with her words for a bit. "Red Hat..." Blair kept trying to tell him.

"What is it Blair? Please tell me." Red Hat said as he placed his hands on her shoulders.

Blair looked directly at his eyes. She can see that he was concerned. 'Just tell him.' She thought. "Red Hat... those test... They were pregnancy test..."

Red Hat eyes widen, processing what she just said. "P-Pregnancy tests..."

"Yes... and after a few test... I came out positive." Blair said, stuttering for a it. "Red Hat, I'm pregnant!"

Red Hat let go of her shoulders and tried to process what he just heard. 'Pregnant? With our child... Blair...'

Blair waited awkwardly waited for her husband's response. 'I hope you took it well...' She worried.

"Blair..." In that moment, Red Hat took off his red hat and placed it on the drower. Blair was a bit surprised by this action. She only ever saw Red Hat take off his hat twice. Both times was, when they made love. For her to see him like this was something else. "Blair... I had no idea..."

"I didn't know until recently. But now it makes sense." Blair then looked at him directly. "Red Hat... you don't regret our decisions?"

Red Hat stared at her, this time with a serious look. "Blair, I'll never regret it..." Red Hat looked away feeling uncertain. "I'm just worried..."

Blair stayed silent, knowing this was coming. 'I knew he worry... wait.' Blair took a closer look at his eyes. It appeared to be... sadness? But why?

"Blair... Do you think we'll be good parents?" Red Hat asked.

Blair's eyes soften a bit. "Red Hat, one is never a good parent from the start. We learn from our experiences."

"I don't have a good track record, becuase of my past actions." Red Hat trailed off. "And well.. we don't have support."

Blair pondered for a moment and realized he was right. Ever since they gotten married, they were now all alone. Her parents didn't approve of her choices and Red Hat never cared for his side of the family. They had no support and almost no way to contact their old friends. And some 'friends' Red Hat would rather not contact at all. They are alone... like in solitude of the sorts. So that's what was on his mind. They had no one but each other. Blair hugged him from behind.

"Red Hat... you'll stress yourself out too much. Are you really so caught up with your past, that you're willing resent it?" Blair questioned.

"You know how I was once treated. So much, that before I met you and Jaden, I was a completely different person..." Red Hat replied softly.

Blair silenced him with her finger. "Red Hat, those people are long gone. This is our future now. No need to look back at the past." Blair then had a thought. "It's not just about you isn't it?"

"How'd you figure that?" Red Hat questioned, turing to her.

"So you're worried that our child will have the same life you will." Blair said. "Red Hat, sins of the parent aren't passed down to the child. If we work and help each other, then our child won't have the same life you did. You're worrying about things that may not even happen."

"It's too much to process Blair..." Red Hat turned around and hugged her close "And well... I don't wish to leave things behind... or you for that matter."

Blair smiled. "I know there's more on your mind, but we'll talk about it some other time."

Blair then takes a feel of his shoulder, and felt he was very tense. She decided to give him a massage. Red Hat got the idea and removed his shirt. Blair tried not blush at the sight, before starting her massage. It's not often she sees him like that.

"How did you gain all that muscle, if all you do is duel and occasionally run?" Blair asked.

Red Hat chuckled her question. "You didn't think I'd just sit around and sleep all day, when you were at the Academy. I've been working out to stay in shape."

Blair then gave a cheeky grin. "Then that means, I now have a husand that's not only a duelist, but also a hunk. I must be a lucky Maiden."

"Alright, now you're going too far. I'm not that buffed, considering my frame." Red Hat replied.

Blair giggled at that. "A girl can dream right? No need to be modest around me. Besides, I love a lot of things about you."

'What did I do to deserve you my darling Blair.' Red Hat thought and allowed Blair to continue her massage. Red Hat soon relaxed under her massage.

After a few more minutes. Blair and Red Hat soon layed down on their bed. Red Hat pulled Blair close to him. Blair was a bit surprised by this but soon smiled and relaxed being him. 'Even though, we'll be parents in a few months. we'll work together and get through this. It will be tough, and we're both scared, but we'll do our best. As a Maiden in Love. I won't let you down. And neither will you.' Blair layed her head on his chest and fell alseep with a smile on her face.

A/N: Time to explain many things about this story. Originaly I wanted to make this a oneshot, but it will be WAY TOO long. So I decided on a short story instead. The main focus is Blair and Red Hat's lives. So think of it as a bit of Slice of Life.

1) I will not bore you guys to tears with excessive details on such matters. It's only basic things as this is not meant to be realistic, even for dated places.

2) No lemons will be writen. You're out of your minds if you think I'm doing that. I want to avoid as much cringe as possible when writing this story.

3) There will be duels. I'll even add tag duels so Blair can also get a chance to shine on her own to show Red Hat how much she's improved. They will be sporatic moments. The dueling format is early 2009.

4) Pro Circut was not very clear on how well it pays. So I'd assume they pay a lot considering how well Aster lives. And well Sponsors for other purposes which Red Hat will decline. Dueling is an actual job in the world of YGO. Just it's not the only thing one should focus even if was their premident career.

That's all for now. Don't expect frequent updates as I'm quite busy with other things. Thanks for reading.
