Out of my many drafts, I finally found a ShikaTema fanfiction to be devoted to working on. So I hope all the readers and Naruto lovers out there enjoy! This is a AU [Modern Day] fanfiction of Naruto.
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN NARUTO.
Some background before we get started:
Everyone in this story is a third year (Junior), unless mentioned otherwise.
Konoha Hall takes place in, well, Konoha, but the campus and buildings itself should be pictured as a typical Old England private school.
Everyone's hairstyle is of late Shippuden or Boruto.
Yes, Shikamaru has many piercings.
Why did the Sand Siblings decide to move to Konoha for school? After criminal activity increased dramatically in Suna, Baki, their God father, decided it would be best for them to live normal lives in Konoha. Although they do not have much money, Baki had been employed there to teach history about the Land of the Wind. Therefore, giving the siblings a huge opportunity.

Let's began!
CHAPTER 1 - The First Friend is Always the Best Friend
"Please prepare for landing, all boarding must now put on their seatbelts."
Gaara, as always was prepared to land ever since they have gotten in the plane. Hours next to Kankuro in a tight space was not how he wanted to spend his day, especially his mornings. He would turn to his sister Temari, who was turning her head towards the bathrooms, seemingly worried.
She would look down to her younger brother. "Gaara, make sure you have your seatbelt on."
"Got it." He responds, crossing his arms.
In a mere moment, Kankuro opened the bathroom door with toilet paper hanging out of his pants. If Gaara wasn't having a bad day before, he definitely was now. He couldn't even look at Kankuro, not wanting to make the people in the plane know he was related to the foolish middle child.
"Where have you been? Kankuro!" Temari shouted.
"SORRY! SORRY! I NEEDED TO GO REAL BAD!" Kankuro exclaimed, practically announcing his business in the bathroom.
The flight attendant looked at the three siblings, sighing. "Sir, please take your seat as we are about to land."
Kankuro approaches his seat, immediately putting on his seatbelt. "Just so you guys know, I wasn't finished in here."
Temari and Gaara would roll their eyes.
After countless hours of going through security, passport checks, and a long cab ride of Kankuro's yapping. The siblings had finally arrived to their new apartment door. Temari took the key from her back pocket of her jeans, unlocking the door as the siblings readily entered.
As they walked in, they found a small closed kitchen to their left, with a small living room area and a large window. It had already been furnished, most likely arranged by Baki. To their left, there would be a a small hallway with six rooms. Three bedrooms, one bathroom, one closet, and one door would lead to a small dining area. Temari had to admit, it wasn't the most luxury thing, but it was enough, enough for them to live comfortable.
"Well, it's not much." Temari commented. "But it can work."
Kankuro shrugged. "Wasn't really expecting to live in a whole mansion, arriving here and all."
"Let's just get settled, it's..." She would check her watch. "4 PM, and then we can finish up signing some papers for the school, I'll let Baki know we're here."
Temari would open all three bedrooms, seeing that all except one were the same size, she entered the largest room in which also had a walk-in closet built inside.
"No fair! Why do you get the biggest room?" Kankuro complained.
Temari raised an eyebrow, putting a hand on her hip. "You owe more than ten pairs of shoes?"
"N-No-"
"Then stop talking."
RING! RING!
Temari sprawled out on her bed, seeing red as she kept her eyes closed. She cracked one eye open to see sunlight attacking her curtains. The blonde would crawl to the side of the bed in where the nightstand was at, turning off the alarm on her phone. She gets up to look at her uniform sitting on a wooden chair, before making her way to the bathroom, knowing Kankuro and Gaara were probably still asleep.
After brushing her teeth, taking a shower, putting on a bit of mascara, and tying her hair into two large pigtails, she exits the bathroom to see a running Kankuro enter and slam the door. She blinked, not amused as she entered her room again to get dressed.
As she looked in the mirror, she admired herself in the uniform. She was dressed in a white quartered zip with red embroidery saying 'Konoha Hall' on the upper left chest side, a khaki colored skirt that went up to her mid-thighs, and casual tan sneakers. This was only a part of what the school required them to wear. As long as students wore a top that said they attended Konoha Hall, they would not get dress coded. However, girls were required to wear skirts, leggings permitted during the winter.
Grabbing her bag and phone, she would turn off the lights of her room. "Baki said he'll meet us in the parking lot." She announced.
Gaara came out his room, all ready. On the other hand, Kankuro was eating a slice of breast while trying to put on a shoe. Gaara and Temari glanced at each other before grabbing their keys and going for the door. As they already reached the stairs, Kankuro locked the door and jogged to catch up to them.
"Baki!" Temari called out, giving him an embrace.
"Hi kids, you ready?" Baki said as he embraced her back.
Kankuro gave him a cheeky smile, Gaara as usual unresponsive.
The siblings would enter the back of the car as Baki drove. Looking out the window, Temari saw many trees. It was unusual, considering she came from the desert. However, once Baki made a turn, she saw a large mass of students wearing the same top she was. They seemed to be all walking to the direction of the school, and oh!
It was beautiful.
The campus was everything rich kids had their hands on. A ground of stone, little trees, a luxurious garden, and a wide campus. All of a sudden, Temari got a funny feeling in her stomach, were they really meant to be here? The feeling got worse as they approached a parking lot, seeing many kids drive such expensive cars with reserved parking. Temari usually never got insecure, but she had to admit, she was overwhelmed.
"We're here." Baki would stop the car. "I'm sure you all know how to find your way?" He would turn to his god children, seeing that their face was evidently intimidated.
Baki giggled. "You'll be fine, text the group chat for EMERGENCIES only!"
"Does needing to find a vending machine count?" Kankuro asked, in which Baki would stare at him blankly without a response. None of them had breakfast after all, and it was probably for the best or else they'd end up puking it up.
"See you later."
Temari would enter her first class, biology. As she opened the door, everyone turned to her. Some guys even whistled. The teacher paused the class, noticing her walk in and immediately gave a big smile.
"WELCOME!" He shouts out, "WELCOME TEMARI OF THE SAND! Is that your last name? No? Whatever. Everyone meet Temari! Our new foreign exchange student!" The teacher would wrap an arm around her shoulders, making her face the class.
Temari would crack a smile, whispering out a faint, "Hi."
"Please, take a seat next to..." He would scan the room. "Ten Ten! Oh yes, Ten Ten! Raise your hand Ten Ten!"
A girl with brown hair, cute space buns would wave her hand out and give Temari a welcoming smile. She would point to a desk beside her, signaling Temari to sit there.
"Also how rude of me, Temari, I am Jiraiya. Sensei to you, of course. We are learning currently about the reproductive system, so if you can very kindly tag along!" Jiraiya would look at the board. "As I was saying class..."
"Hi." Ten Ten whispers to Temari. "Temari, right?"
Temari looked to her left, smiling. "Yes, Ten Ten, right?"
"That's me! Don't mind Jiraiya, he's always this jittery in the morning, some people even think he drinks before he comes in here."
Temari chuckled. "I wouldn't be surprised."
"So, where did you go to school before coming to Konoha?
"Suna Academy." She responded. "Not a big school, definitely not a rich one either."
Ten Ten would tap her chin with the back of her pen. "Ohh, I see. So what made you want to move here?"
"Crime got out of control, luckily Baki is my God father."
"Really? That's cool! I have him for one of my history classes."
Temari smiled. 'I like her.' She thought.
As Ten Ten was talking, a random guy from the other side of the classroom would 'accidentally' throw a paper ball to Temari, causing it to hit her lower back. She would turn to see who threw it, and he began to approach her.
"Sorry babe," He told her. "Looks like it bounced off that ass of yours, sweetcheeks." He winked, Temari wanted to gag. She started to thing that this 'prestigious' school wasn't all like she thought after all. The people sure seemed to not act so different. However, as Ten Ten came quick enough to her defense, she began to hesitate on thinking otherwise.
"Get a life, you pervert." Ten Ten told him, defending Temari.
Jiraiya would stop his teachings. "What's going on back there?"
"Jiraiya Sensei, Nagato threw a paper ball at Temari and started being a whole pervert." Ten Ten told him.
"Psh, are you really going to believe this tiny doll?" Nagato sassed back, glaring at Ten Ten.
Jiraiya tapped his chin, "Considering Ten Ten has never gotten below a B in any of my tests nor has she ever gotten any detentions, Nagato, I think the answer is obvious of who I'd like to believe."
The whole class laughed, Nagato would turn around at them to give them a death scare. And when that didn't work, her rolled his eyes and sat back down.
Even Temari laughed, maybe this school won't be so bad after all.
