Walking into his home for what felt like the hundredth time, Olivia set her things down before walking over to his bedroom. She knocked softly before popping her head in and offering him a small smile "hey" she whispered.

He gave her sharp, pointed look "what do you want?"

She shrugged, unphased by his tone and his attitude "just letting you know that I'm here. Do you want anything to drink, or eat?"

"No. I want to be left alone." he said before turning away from her.

Olivia looked at the man who sat clad in his electric wheelchair, she didn't take offence to what he said. He was pissed and she didn't know why, but she wasn't going to push him to speak either. She settled on the sofa and did some of her paperwork that she needed to catch up on and got a good amount done before dosing off on the sofa.

Trevor let out a breath when he saw her sleeping on the sofa, she looked so peaceful that he did not have the heart to wake her up. He moved over to her and gently draped the throw over her, watching her snuggle further into the sofa.

...

"Hey, how long have I been sleeping?" Olivia asked as she sat up.

"About an hour, I didn't want to disturb you, you looked like you were really worn out." he said with a small smile.

She nodded "it's good to see you out of your room."

He scoffed "why do you always ruin a good mood?"

"How? You've been in your room, ignoring my presence and shutting me out since I got here, and now you want to be all friendly and expect me to just go alone with it." she spat, getting irritated by his constant on and off attitude.

Trevor was shocked by her outburst but he wasn't going to back down either. A scowl fixed onto his face "maybe it's because I don't like you! I hate being around you and that you are always in my space! If you would just leave me be I wouldn't be an ass to you"

"Oh hell no Trevor! You don't get to turn this all on me" she scoffed "you have been an ass since before we met, I didn't have to do anything because you're naturally an asshole! You take your crap out on everybody around you and expect them to just take it and get over it. Life doesn't work like that"

He could see that she was furious by the way her face was pulled up into a frown and by her shaking hands. She was absolutely fuming and he could feel it, but yet still he refused to shut down and allow her to dig into him.

"well if I'm that much of an ass then why the fuck do you keep coming around? Why won't you leave me alone, or stay out of my god damned life! I don't want you here Olivia, I don't want anybody here. I want to be left the fuck alone and nobody seems to get that." he yelled, getting more pissed off as well.

Her face softened in an instant and he saw her swallow softly "They won't leave you alone because they care for you. I care for you, whether you believe it or not."

He furrowed his eyebrows "why? What are you all getting out of this?"

She sighed "not everybody has an ulterior motive."

He scoffed "if there is one thing I learnt through the years, it's that there is always an ulterior motive to every good deed."

"That's not true and you know it." she shook her head. Irritated by his stubbornness "that is what you tell yourself so that you don't feel bad for cutting people out of your life."

He pursed his lips "you don't get it Olivia, you don't know what its like"

"So help me understand" she shrugged "I'm here, tell me why you keep shutting everybody out."

A heavy sigh left his lips "because every body leaves eventually. I feel like a burden to every person around me, I can't even go to the bathroom on my own. This accident took everything from me, and now I'm stuck in this god damned chair, unable to even change my own pants. You have no idea how it feels to be stripped of everything you know, and having to depend on strangers to do the simplest things."

She reached up and gently wiped the tears that dropped from his eyes "I know this transition must be the most difficult thing you have ever gone through but you have people who want to help you through it. I'm here because I want to be around you, mood swings and all. I like your presence and I know a ton of other people do too, you're a great guy and this chair didn't change that."

He took hold of her hand "It's not that easy. My manhood was taken from me that day, I can't do any of the things I used to love the most. My life was an adventure and suddenly I can't even stand on my own two legs." he took a deep breath to calm himself down "I don't feel like a man, god I can't even get an erection. I feel useless and that is why I can't understand why you all want to be here when you could be out there living"

She gave his hand a squeeze and felt her own eyes welling up with tears "for what it's worth, I think you're a man. Regardless of what happened to you, I think you're nicer than most men I know. I would rather spend a day with you than to be having sex with a dumbass that I met in a bar. You're a great person when you let people in and I want you to know that."

"Stephanie is getting married" he pipped up, handing her an envelope that was tucked beside him in his chair "I got this two days ago."

Olivia took hold of the envelope and opened it, seeing a wedding invitation inside. She took hold of it and read it before shooting him a confused look "I didn't get the memo on who Stephanie and Adam is."

He sighed "Adam was my best friend and Stephanie was my girlfriend, I found out that they were together about four months after the accident."

"Oh Trev" she took his hand again "I didn't know, this must be so hard. Are you going?"

"I don't know..." he pursed his lips "I don't think so, I don't want to be the sad paraplegic loser sitting alone at my ex girlfriend's wedding. I feel like a fool already."

"Who says you have to go alone?" she smirked.

He furrowed his eyebrows "Olivia it's not like I can just order somebody to join me."

"I'll do it." a small smile tugged at her lips "I will be your plus one and then Alex can keep an eye on Noah."

"You don't have to do this-"

"I want to. I wouldn't offer if I wasn't comfortable with it. I want to spend time with you and make sure you actually have fun and don't just spend the day being pissed off." she cut him off.

Trevor smirked "I take it there's no point in arguing is there?"

She shook her head "you learn fast."

"maybe you're just predictable" he said with a soft laugh.

A smile spread on her face as she listened to his soft laugh "we'll see if you still think that after seeing what I plan to wear."

He let out a hearty chuckle "just don't get offended if every man in the room other than me reacts to your outfit."

She shrugged "you're not as bad as you make yourself out to be."

...

"So Olivia will be going with me next week, to the wedding." Trevor told Alex as she helped him onto his bed.

She raised an eyebrow at him, her curiosity getting the best of her "that's great, did you ask her to join you?"

"no. She offered and I accepted." a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips "I wanted to ask her but I was afraid that she would just turn me down. Not a lot of woman prefer to be stuck with a paraplegic."

"Not a lot of woman are like Olivia" she added "she really is one of a kind."

"She's got a massive sense of humor, which to be honest, is not something you expect when you see her for the first time." he added.

A smirk tugged at Alex's lips "do you like her?"

He let out a laugh "I feel like you're trying to play matchmaker, and honestly it's so unnecessary. Olivia and I are simply getting to know each other and closing in on the friendship line."

"Friendship line huh?" she sassed, with a raised eyebrow "sounds like you wanna see more of her."

"Don't you have better things to do than bug me?" he quipped

She chuckled "hey it's my job to help you, and right now I'm cleaning up the mess you made in the room."

"How is that even possible?" he questioned.

"You and Olivia need to stop having sex because I'm tired of making your bed" she sassed.

He laughed lightly "we haven't done anything along those lines. Although she was on top of me, but that is because she lost her balance while helping me lie down."

Alex burst out of laughing, shaking her head at him "you two make me sick with this waiting game."

"You're pushing too hard Alex. Olivia is a wonderful person and I would be honoured to be with her but she doesn't see me that way and it's okay with me. I like having her around" he explained with a smile "we're going out for lunch tomorrow"

"mmm, she didn't mention that" she frowned "you better take her somewhere nice"

He chuckled "I'd love to take her somewhere fancy but most restaurants around town are not wheelchair friendly."

"It doesn't have to be a fancy restaurant, Olivia is a very laid back lady, she doesn't like it when people make a fuss. She would probably be happy to spend time with you in any place as long as you are both comfortable and there isn't too much attention to her." she explained.

He sighed "I think I would be able to do that... But before you get any ideas, we're only going to get to know each other better so that we don't have to do all that small talk crap at Stephanie's wedding."

"Still can't believe she talked you into going, but I am happy to see you enjoying yourself." she sat down at the edge of his bed "so does this mean you're not going to... You know... Do the thing?"

He sighed "Alex please, I asked you not to speak about that"

Alex frowned "does Olivia know?"

"No." he sighed, closing his eyes "she doesn't know, and I would like for it to stay this way."

She sighed "Trevor she is going to be heart broken if she finds out. You promised that you wouldn't hurt her."

"Alex, it's not like that. Olivia and I are nothing to each other. We're just two people who enjoy each others company, she has other people in her life and this will help to focus on them again. I'm doing this for all of us, because that way all of us will be better off." he said with a small smile "it would be selfish of me to have her carry this burden around that is why I don't want you to tell her."

"Fine. I guess it's your choice and I have to respect it, but you need to promise me something first" she said with her eyes narrowed.

"What is it?" he asked almost nervously.

"Promise me that if things get serious, you will tell her everything and not keep her in the dark." she crossed her arms over her chest and gave him a pointed look.

He sighed "fine. I promise that I will tell her everything if we ever get serious, which I doubt will ever happen because she doesn't see me like that. I'm a paraplegic man, Olivia is a beautiful woman, she can do so much better than me and I'm sure she will."

"Why do you bring yourself down like that?" Alex asked with a scowl.

He ran his hand over his face "I've been in this situation for a long time so I know that things won't suddenly change. Olivia doesn't seem like the type who would want to waste her time with me. There's a lot that I can't give her or any other woman and she knows it."

"Yet she still comes back to see you" she quipped "has that ever crossed your mind, that maybe she keeps coming back here because she actually does care for you. Think about it."
