Olivia wiped Noah's mouth and his hands "did you enjoy your pizza, baby?"
He nodded "yeah, pissa is the best!"
Trevor let out a laugh "you weren't kidding when you said he's easy to please, some pizza, books and ice cream and you're in the good books."
She smirked "that's the best part about having young children, they are easier to please. Baby Noah just wanted to eat, sleep and be cuddled, now all he wants is eat, sleep and play. I enjoy it while it lasts, plus he is still at the age where he enjoys cuddling up with me."
"I can imagine that it must feel amazing, to have your little boy held so securely and just to spend time with him" he smiled "that was something I always wanted. I wanted a son so bad, to teach him some of the things I've learnt in life, to do different sports with" he sighed.
She took his hand and squeezed it in a comforting way "you can still do that. You can still have kids and you can still teach them things, Trevor you don't need to be able to walk to be a parent, you just love and support your kid endlessly."
"I'm aware that my situation doesn't take away from parenting, but it does cause complications. Could you imagine being pregnant and having to not only see to yourself and the baby but also to your paraplegic partner. Imagine going into labour and not having help, imagine how useless I'd be in that situation." he said with a sad sigh.
She pursed her lips "I would have loved to have had someone with me while I was in labour. Even if it was just to speak to me and hold my hand while I drove myself to hospital. Giving birth alone, without anybody around you is the hardest thing ever, I'd rather have a paraplegic with me than to be by myself in that state again."
"You were alone when you had Noah?" he frowned "where was Alex?"
"She was out of town at the time, I was only due for the next two weeks. So we thought I'd go into labour when they returned, turns out this little guy couldn't wait any longer. I went into labour two weeks before my due date and I had to drive myself to hospital while fighting off contractions. I have no idea how I made it there safely but it was the worst car ride of my life." she shrugged "I pushed without anybody there to tell me that it was going to be okay. I cried my eyes out because of the pain and I was pissed at Carter for leaving me to go through that alone."
She let out a shaky breath "but when it was over and I heard his cry, I knew that I would be okay, that Noah and I would get each other through everything. I broke down and cried like a baby when they placed him on my chest, he looked so peaceful and he was so tiny. That feeling was something I will never forget, and I'm sure that if you or any other paraplegic person was with me, I would have appreciated the support."
"You are possibly the strongest woman I have ever met, you are amazing Olivia. He is extremely lucky to have you." he said motioning to the toddler who was now sitting on the ground and playing with the toys his mother brought along.
She smiled "I'm lucky to have him. He kept me going when I thought I could never love again, he was my support system before he could even speak."
"Plus he is adorable" he joked, trying to lighten the mood.
She laughed "that he is."
...
Olivia smiled as she looked back at Noah who was seated comfortably in Trevor's lap, the little boy was babbling on about all the toys that he wanted while Trevor laughed and gave his input about the best toys he had as a kid. She was shocked at how well her son took to Trevor, seeing as he was usually shy when he first met people. He had surprised her when he started speaking to Trevor, and when he moved into Trevor's arms without argument.
Trevor too seemed very comfortable with her little boy, he wasn't awkward or anything, he spoke to the little boy as if he had known him since birth. He spoke about all the things the little boy loved and joked constantly, keeping him entertained for the duration of their time together.
Olivia walked beside the pair, pushing a cart and grabbing all the things he said he needed for the next week, she turned into the Isle with female products and watched as Trevor furrowed his eyebrows.
"I need a few things too so I figured I could get it out of the way while I'm here" she explained, grabbing a box of tampons.
He shrugged "I figured as much"
"You don't mind right?" she asked
He shook his head "not at all. I'm aware that you're a woman and you need a few supplies every month. I grew up with a mother and a sister"
"You have a sister?" she furrowed her eyebrows "where is she?"
"Paris. She moved there last year, she was by my side all the time and I was an ass to her. So eventually she left, because unlike you she didn't know how to stick with someone who kept pushing her away." he sighed.
She gave him a small smile "Hey, I'm sure if you try to reach out she'll gladly accept you."
He pursed his lips "I wish that were the case. I tried to reach out because I regret the way I treated her, but she ignored all my calls, texts, letters. She wants nothing to do with me and I don't blame her."
Olivia placed her hand on his shoulder "she is losing out on the opportunity to know an amazing man."
"I wasn't all that amazing to her, I was an ass." he finished, turning his attention back to Noah "you look tired buddy"
Noah yawned and cuddled into Trevor's chest "me sleep"
He laughed lightly "okay then, you take a nap and your mom and I will finish up the shopping."
Olivia giggled at her son who had made himself comfortable and then knocked out in Trevor's embrace "he looks awfully comfortable. You sure you don't want me to take him?"
He shook his head with a massive smile "I've got him"
"Thank you." she smirked "for being so good with him, I know he can be a bit much."
"He is not much, he is a smart little boy, and you are the greatest mother to him. I can see why you love him so much, I've only known him for a few hours and I already don't want him to leave." he joked.
She swallowed the lump that arose in her throat, she didn't want to leave either. She wanted to spend the night, to watch him spend more time with her son. Her mind was screaming that she should just drop it but she couldn't, not when he made her little boy so happy. He was great with the toddler and she would be lying if she said she didn't find that attractive.
It was a bit of a turn on, watching him spend time with her son, but she would never admit that to him. Nor to anybody else, she would not do that.
"well we've still got a ton of time together, so you don't have to worry about him leaving just yet." she said, opting to leave out the bit about her wanting to spend the night at his place.
Trevor smiled "great, because I'm really enjoying your company, as well as Noah's"
They moved through the rest of the Isles quietly, only speaking when he needed to tell her the other items he needed. He was blown away by her, she was gorgeous, and she wasn't even wearing make up. She was clad in a pair of jeans and a soft blue t-shirt that had the slightest dip at the neck, showing him a peek of her cleavage. He didn't dare to look though, he didn't want to make things awkward by eyeing her up.
She would probably kick his ass if she ever caught him looking at her inappropriately, and he didn't exactly have the resources to defend himself.
"Is that all?" she asked after tucking some ranch sauce into the cart.
He looked up at her, tearing his eyes away from her little boy "yes, that is it. Thank you for this."
She shrugged "you don't have to thank me Trev."
"we should probably get to the checkout" he laughed, seeing as they were just in a random Isle.
She laughed "you're full of shit, you know that"
"So I've been told" he laughed.
They made their way to the checkout silently, both of them had stupid smiles on their faces.
Olivia noticed a little girl staring at Trevor, a confused look on her face as she stared at his electric chair.
She gave the little girl a warm smile "Hi there."
"Hello" the girl said shyly, holding onto her mother's hand.
Her mother gave Olivia a warm smile "hi, I'm sorry for her staring."
"It's no problem" Trevor said with a smile "she probably hasn't seen one of these yet."
The little girl furrowed her eyebrows "are your legs hurt?"
Olivia let out a laugh "he can't feel them sweet heart."
Trevor smirked "I am paraplegic so I can't walk."
She gasped "why can't you walk?"
"Oh sweetie you can't ask the man all of those questions, it's a sensitive topic" her mother cut in, trying to put an end to her daughters questions.
Trevor shook his head "it's okay, she's just curious. All kids are."
Her mother nodded "this is true. How old is your little boy?"
Olivia smirked "he is three years old."
"He's cute, looks just like his mother" she said with a smile "he must wear you two out."
Trevor looked down at Noah and smirked "he is the sweetest little boy ever."
She smirked "you're a beautiful family."
Olivia smiled awkwardly, not wanting to make things strange by arguing so she simply nodded and whispered a quick "thank you."
They finished up at the checkout and waved at the little girl who still looked confused by Trevor being in a wheelchair. Olivia strapped Noah into the car seat before getting the ramp out for Trevor, she made sure he was settled in the car before getting into the drivers seat.
She looked back at him and smiled "this was possibly the best grocery shopping trip I've had, because I didn't have to chase after Noah and you were great company. Thank you."
He gave her the sweetest smile "you're welcome and thank you for doing this, and for trusting me with him."
"Trevor I've known you for weeks now, months actually, I know you're a good man and I know you wouldn't do anything to hurt me or my son." she bit her lip, trying to stop herself from saying too much.
Trevor let out a breath, he wanted nothing more than to have her spend the night, to just be in her company. Even if they just watched movies and ate all kinds of shitty snacks, even if it meant Noah would run up and down all night, he wouldn't mind, as long as they stayed. He wanted her company more than that of his night nurse, more than that of Alex. He wanted Olivia to be around him all the time, to hear her laugh all day and see her smile. The realisation left him speechless.
Olivia drove silently to his place, trying to piece together an excuse to stay, she felt like she was setting herself up for a let down. She parked the car and helped Trevor out of the car, she then took Noah out of the car and handed him to Trevor so that she could carry the bags out of the car.
She followed him into the house, placing the bags down on the kitchen counter "can I lay him down, that way we'll be able to sort the groceries out"
He nodded "sure"
She took Noah out of his arms and laid him down in Trevor's bed, she removed his shoes and pressed a kiss to his forehead "sleep well baby boy."
Trevor sat in the doorway with a smile on his lips "you're so good with him"
"That's because he means the world to me" she smiled, covering him up.
She walked over to Trevor and smirked down at him "come on, I need you to tell me where everything goes. Noah will be fine, he sleeps like a rock."
Trevor nodded, wheeling himself to the kitchen "do you want to stay? We could watch a movie or something if you like"
She smirked, thankful that he finally asked "I'd like that. I could whip us up some ice cream."
"ice cream huh?" he smirked "seems like an opportunity I could never pass up on."
"Of course you'd say that, you're addicted to ice cream" she laughed.
Trevor let out a laugh "I won't even try to deny it because that would be lying."
Reviews are always nice.
Just to clear up the confusion, I know in svu Noah's eyes are brown, but I've decided for the book they'll be blue because he has his father's (Carter) eyes. It's a little detail that will help connect him to the story for when he gets mentioned in future chapters.
I hope you all enjoyed this little chapter, a bit of fluff is always good and I couldn't resist having Noah and Trevor share a few moments.
