Olivia sat in the bull pen listening to her detectives list off the details they had on their latest suspect. She was clad in a dress, which surprised everyone around her, and a pair of heels because she was supposed to have diner with Trevor and his parents. She wanted to be presentable so she settled for a plain black dress, it had a high collar and stopped just above her knees.

It didn't show off much of her skin but it hugged her body in all of the right places, showing off her curves. Her hair was curled to perfection and she had the slightest bit of make up on, not wanting to look too overdone. She paired her black dress with a black heel that accentuated her legs, making them look longer.

Carisi raised an eyebrow at Olivia "you look beautiful."

She gave him a small smile "Thank Carisi"

Amanda smirked "he's trying to figure what the occasion is for you looking like this, and so are we."

"I have to meet up with a friend of mine..." she responded, not wanting to label them until she had met his parents.

Fin frowned "does this friend have a name?"

She let out a laugh "you're crazy if you think I'm giving his name to a bunch of detectives."

"So it is a guy" Dodds said with a smirk.

She shrugged "yes. Now stop pestering me and start focusing on our case."

...

Trevor's face lit up when he heard little footsteps coming toward him, a massive smile covered his lips when a tiny body came into sight.

"Twev!" Noah squealed, unable to contain his excitement.

Trevor let out a laugh at his enthusiasm and ruffled his brunette hair "hey champ, I missed you"

"me missed you too" he smiled before stretching his arms out, wanting to be picked up.

Olivia appeared behind the three year old and scooped him up "we just got here baby, give Trevor a moment to breathe"

Trevor rolled his eyes "I don't mind his excitement, I find him fun to be around."

"Yeah until he's running up and down for hours, playing none stop and not giving you a second to breathe. Or until he gets sick or moody and decides to cry at the top of his lungs for hours even though you solved his intial problem at the very beginning." she said with a laugh.

"It would be an honour to see him in those moments" he smiled, motioning for her to hand Noah to him "my parents are in the dinning area waiting for us."

She swallowed loudly, feeling her palms become sweaty "well that's one way to make a bad impression, coming late to meet your parents."

He waved her off "Liv relax, they know you work a difficult job and they don't mind it at all. Also you look perfect, beautiful doesn't even begin to describe how you look right now."

She smiled and placed her son in his arms "thank you" she let out a breath "remind me to breathe"

"okay, even though I know you'll be great in there" he said with a laugh.

Olivia followed him to the room where his parents were waiting and smiled nervously when she saw them.

Trevor's mother had the most beautiful green eyes and long black hair, she looked like she had just returned from a modelling show. She was a tall and slender woman, with a pearly white smile. Her husband sat beside her at the table and he too looked like he had just returned from some sort of modelling show. He had steely blue eyes, much like Trevor's and a defined jaw. His hair was dark and she could tell from his build that he was fit, and he too was tall.

Trevor smiled as his chair moved to the spot that was set for him at the table "mom, dad, this is Olivia Benson and her son Noah."

Olivia extended her hand to his parents and smiled widely "Mr and Mrs Langan, it's such a pleasure to meet you, Trevor speaks very fondly of you."

His mother gave her a bright smile "please call me Mercia, and it's lovely to meet you too Olivia, Alex has told me a bit about you."

"All good I hope" Olivia joked.

Trevor's father let out a laugh "definitely, she couldn't stop talking about how you managed to get Trev to go on a picnic and to go to that little diner he used to love."

Olivia turned to Trevor and smiled "he is easier to convince than people think."

Mercia raised an eyebrow at her son "that's not the way I know him to be. He's usually very stubborn."

Noah looked up at Trevor and smirked "Stubbo"

Trevor laughed at the little boy "that's right kiddo, my mom thinks I'm stubborn."

"You are stubborn, you always have been" his father said.

Mercia nudged him "Benjamin watch your tongue. The last thing we need tonight is for the two of you to start fighting."

Trevor sighed "relax mom, I know dad was just kidding."

Olivia reached for Noah and gave Trevor a small smile before feeding the toddler.

Benjamin raised an eyebrow at Olivia "so I've heard that you'll be joining Trevor for Stephanie's wedding, is it true?"

She nodded, wiping her mouth before responding "yes I am, I'm actually excited. I haven't been to a wedding in forever"

Trevor smirked "Then we've got Alex's wedding coming up in a few months"

Olivia smiled "I can't wait for that one. Noah is going to be a ring bearer"

"Is that so kiddo, are you excited?" Trevor asked Noah.

He nodded, reaching for his sippy cup "yeah I'm gonna weaw a suit."

Mercia laughed "your son is absolutely adorable"

Olivia laughed "thank you Mercia, he definitely keeps me entertained."

"How old is he?" Benjamin asked.

"I'm thwee" Noah said with a giggle, holding up three fingers.

The adults around the table laughed at his response. Before turning their attention back to their meals, and eating in a comfortable silence.

Benjamin eventually spoke up, gaining Olivia's attention "Olivia, if you don't mind me asking, is your son's father in the picture?"

She shook her head and forced a smile "no, unfortunately he passed before I even knew that I was carrying Noah." she sighed.

Trevor took hold of her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze "Olivia has been raising Noah on her own since, and I think she's done an excellent job with him. He is the most decent and well mannered toddler I have ever met."

Mercia raised an eyebrow at the pair "Is his father's family not in the picture?"

"No. His mother and I never really got alone, and she cut all ties with me when Carter passed. I tried reaching out and even took Noah to their place once but she simply told me that she didn't want any part in his life." she ruffled Noah's hair, "it's been just the two of us ever since."

"Are you seeing anyone right now?" Mercia questioned with a smirk.

"mom!" Trevor scowled.

He knew exactly where his mother was going with this conversation and he didn't like it. He didn't want Olivia to feel pressured into being with him, he wanted it to come naturally, just like their encounter the last time she stayed over. He wanted nothing more than to just have her like that again, but he wasn't going to tell his parents about that just yet.

"Trevor it's okay" Olivia chuckled "no I am not seeing anyone right now. I've been single since Carter's passing."

Mercia nodded "Trev has been single since the accident... In fact you are the first woman we've met since Stephanie left."

Benjamin scowled at his wife "Mer you promised that you wouldn't bring that up tonight."

Trevor sighed "It's okay dad, hearing her name doesn't affect me as much as it used to." he gave Olivia a small smile "mainly because Olivia is helping me deal with a lot of my issues that I used to avoid."

"So she knows about your su-" Mercia started, but trailed off when she saw the look on Trevor's face.

He shook his head "I've got tons of doctors appointments for the week, Olivia and I can discuss the surgeries some other time."

She turned to him in confusion "what surgeries?"

"I'll tell you about it after the wedding, I don't want you stressing about that now." he gave her a tight smile.

The rest of the evening flew by and Olivia actually enjoyed her time with his parents, they were nothing like what she expected them to be. They spent time with Noah, entertaining the little boy until he fell asleep in Trevor's arms, both of his parents adored the little boy.

Olivia opened up to them and spoke about her own family and how she ended up alone, speaking about her mother's death and how she was conceived. They were blown away by her strength and by her ability to keep moving even after so many people close to her had passed.

Trevor grew quiet after hearing about her mother's passing, he realised that she had lost a lot of important people in her life. The last thing he wanted was to add to her bad experiences and so he made a choice to not tell her about his plans just yet.

...

"Hey" Olivia whispered as she moved over to Trevor who had just wheeled himself into the living room.

He looked up at her and smirked "hey yourself. Is that little guy sorted?"

She nodded "he is. Your parents wore him out, he's knocked out."

Trevor let out a laugh "I'm sure they're just as tired, it's been many years since my mother had a rambunctious toddler to run after."

She helped him onto the sofa before settling down beside him "your mother was amazing with him... It made me wonder if that's how Carter's mother would have been with him if he wasn't my son."

He allowed her to cuddle up close to him and let out a sigh "she's losing out on not only knowing an amazing little boy, but one of the best woman I've ever met."

She snorted softly "I am not the best woman ever... I've got tons of baggage and a bad past. I-"

He placed his finger to her lips, silencing her "doesn't make you any less amazing. Your past doesn't define you, it's not who you are and its not your fault either. You've been through a lot of really bad things, but you're insanely strong to have come this far."

"you're a great guy Trevor" she whispered before moving closer and pressing her lips to his.

He responded to her kiss instantly, his tongue making its way into her mouth to explore what was starting to become familiar territory to him.

She allowed him to explore her mouth and moaned softly when she felt his hand moving to caress her waist. She eased out of their kiss and let out a soft moan "you can't be touching me like that if you're not going to take it further"

He let out a soft laugh "I would love to take it further but sex isn't all that easy when you're a paraplegic."

She furrowed her eyebrows and turned so that her entire body was facing him "I figured that much, but it can't be impossible right?"

"it's not. It used to be hard because it took me forever to get an erection."

She tilted her head to the side and smirked "wanna try?"

Trevor bit his lip, he wanted more than to be with her in such an intimate way but he knew it would complicate things further. He already messed up by letting her fall for him, he allowed her in and that was one of his biggest fears because it meant he'd have to open up to her and come clean about his future plans.

He sighed "we can't right now... Don't get me wrong, you're beautiful and I'd be honoured but-"

"it's okay" she cut him off, having seen the wave of fear that flashed over his eyes seconds after her question "I know this is all still complicated and you're trying not to rush things, I get it."

He nodded "thank you for being so understanding."

She shrugged before pressing a chaste kiss to his lips "you never have to thank me for that."

"I have a lot to thank you for, you somehow managed to make me believe in humanity again. I was a very negative person before you but you changed my outlook on a lot of things. You showed me that there is hope and that nothing is ever that bad, because eventually good times will return. You also taught me that hiding isn't an option, it's not healthy and it doesn't help any situation." he smirked, cupping her cheek "you also made me believe that anything is possible, if you could fall for me then anything else could happen too."

She leaned into him and smiled "it may not seem that way, but you've taught me many things too and made me believe in a lot of new things."
