okay so about chapter 17... I ended up putting the original in bold letters and added in the change in normal letter instead of putting them in separate chapters.

The Golden Dawn's New Member

"Finral, let's go!" Yami called walking into the living room, one September morning.

"Where too?" Finral asked.

"The Magic Knights Entrance Exam is today. Gotta get going."

"Wait that's today! I thought it was next week!"

"Nope, it's today."

"Then hurry up! Let's go!" Finral said jumping up from his seat.

"You're awfully exited all of the sudden," Vanessa replied.

"Of course I am!" He said looking down to her from where she sat next to him. "It's my little brother's entrance exam! I wanna see what squad he chooses!"

Fatry wanted to make a comment about him staying home if they had to see Langris, but decided that he'd rather not ruin Finral's good mood, after all, Fatry was just as proud of his little brother as Finral was of Langris.

"Chooses?"

"Yeah! With his magic all the squad captains are bound to raise their hand! I just know it!"

"To bad kid, ain't no way I'm raising my hand for that little shit."

"What?! But his magic is amazing!"

"And his attitude sucks."

"He's not that bad! You have to at least give him a chance! Please!"

"Yeah, I don't think so."

"You'll change your mind as soon as you see his magic!"

"Whatever. Just open the damn portal already."

"What are you doing here so early, foreigner?" Nozel said when Yami walked in.

"The hell's your problem? Last year you where complaining because I was late, now you're

complaining because I'm early."

"I'd rather see you as little as possible."

"Hate to brake it to you, but my ride wanted to get here as soon as possible. Didn't even give me the chance to grab breakfast."

"Say what?!" Finral said from behind Yami. "You came into the living room saying 'Finral, let's go!' I had nothing to do with it!"

"This is coming from Mr. it's-my-little-brother's-entrance-exam."

"If you hadn't eaten then you should have gone to the kitchen and got something first!"

"Naa, I'll just have you go get me something during the exam."

"No way! I have to be here for Langris!"

"Ke ke, you're that weak kid from last year, aren't ya? So your little brother is trying to join the Magic Knights too. If he's anything like you I'm sure Yami will let him in, I sure as hell ain't."

"No! Langris' magic is amazing! Nothing compared to my weak transport magic! You guys are going to really like him!"

"Is that so. Do you honestly think we're going to take the word of a little brat?"

"I'm sixteen! I'm hardly a little brat!"

"Kids got guts talking to a Magic Knight Captain like that," Jack said. "How about I slice him?"

"H-how about not?" Finral said stepping behind Yami to hide.

"Stop scaring my wheels, bean pole. You even try to lay one of your so called blades on my ride and you're dead."

"C-can we not have another repeat of last year, please!" Finral begged.

What happened last year? Fatry asked out of curiosity.

You really don't want to know.

"Y-Yami! You're early."

"Well if it isn't the Prickly Princess and Goldy Guts. Getting here at the same time... You two hiding something?" Yami teased.

"Of course not, Yami. We merely arrived at the entrance at the same time and walked in here together."

"Honestly, Yami, you're such an idiot. I don't need a man in my life! The battle field is my partner!"

She's not only beautiful but really cool too! Finral thought.

C-Charla!

Who?

Only the most beautiful elf in our village! Rhya-San was always asking her out on a date... She turned him down every time... Can't say I blame her, all he ever wanted to do was complain about how much of a pain everything was and sleep all the time.

"Hey, kid, you coming?" Yami said as he and the other captains walked towards the balcony of the stadium.

"Hmm... oh... coming!" Finral said and ran to catch up.

Finral instantly spotted Langris in the mess of young mages. He watched his little brother attentively as he effortlessly got through all of the tests. Having not pointed him out to the Captains, not wanting to feel like the captains took pity after Finral so adamantly praised his little brother and let him in so Finral didn't feel bad, he heard a few captains gasp when Langris' magic all but destroyed the target board.

"Well, you weren't kidding, Finral. Your little brother's magic is amazing," Vangeance said. "I've never seen spacial magic that could complete wipe out it's target."

"H-how did you know he was my little brother? I didn't say anything," Finral said turning to the Captain.

"For one thing, he's the only spacial mage out there. And for another... you look alike."

"D-don't tell him that. That would make him angry."

"Oh? And why's that?"

"I honestly don't know for sure. Other then the fact that we're only half brothers. My mother died when I was born, Father soon remarried and had Langris not long after."

"Half brothers is only a technicality. Your still brothers weather you share the same mother or not," Vangeance replied with a smile.

For a moment Finral looked shocked, but quickly smiled back, "I know that. Langris and I are brothers, nothing anyone says or does is going to change that."

When it came time for everyone to choose a fighting partner, all the kids seamed to want to steer clear of Langris. Everyone except one noble boy who seemed to have been dared by another boy to fight him. He looked scared as he approached the spacial mage. They talked for a moment before Langris gave him a warm smile... one that only Finral knew was a fake lonely smile and would have turned into a sneer if either of the boys had walked away, but neither of them did.

Finally is was time for them to start their fights. When is was Langris' turn it didn't take long for Langris to raise his hand to attack the boy. But the boy, to afraid of what the spacial magic would do to his body, quickly forfeited before Langris had the chance to release the spell.

"Ke ke, the kid didn't even take out his grimiore. What a weak opponent, I wanna slice him!"

"Even while training, Langris refuses to use his grimiore's magic," Finral replied. "His basic spells are so powerful he doesn't need to use his grimiore unless he's backed into a corner... Which I'm sure will almost never happen."

Some time pasted and they began calling off the mages' numbers one by one. Yami didn't seem to be interested in any of them, which disappointed Finral a little, he would have liked having a new squad mate or two.

Langris walked to the center of the stadium when it was finally his turn.

All of the captains except, Yami, Jack, and Charlotte, raised there hands.

"That's my little Langris!" Finral heard the familiar voice of Liliane yell from across the stands. He looked up to see his father pulling her back down to her seat and trying to shut her up.

"Great. Liliane's here," Finral muttered as Langris asked to be placed in the Golden Dawn.

After the exam was over Finral ran to find Langris, who was already talking to his new Captain.

"Langris! Congratulations! I knew you would get in!"

"As if I need you telling me that, Nii-san," Langris replied looking up as Finral reached them. "What are you even doing here?"

"Huh? Oh... I wanted to watch your exam..."

"I bet you're captain just wanted you to bring him and take him home."

"Well... yeah... I guess he did... but I really did want to come watch."

"Whatever."

"I'm a bit surprised you didn't choose the Crimson Lion Kings or the Silver Eagles though."

"Why would I? The Golden Dawn may be a new squad but they are quickly becoming the kingdom's number one squad. Of course I would choose them. But I wouldn't expect you to know that, seeing as to how your squad came in last at the Star Festival."

"Now now, Langris, all the squads have an equal chance of coming in last next year." Vangeance replied.

"Hypothetically speaking," Langris answered.

"Hey, Finral! Time to go!" Yami called from down the street.

"Coming, Yami!" Finial called back. "Thank you for excepting my brother into your squad! Please take care of him," he smiled at Vangeance before turning and running to his own captain.

"Nii-san! I don't need you of all people saying that!" Langris yelled after him.

"Langris, dear!" Liliane said as she and Ledior walked up to him. Finral was glad Yami had called him away as he opened a portal and they returned to the hideout. Finral collapsed once he was through it.

Hehehe the next chapter is already half written... if I'm lucky I might be able to get it up today! A 3 year time skip next chapter and a new Black Bull! Can you guess who it is 😉 and just for fun what do you think will happen? 😁 I actually started this chapter after I started the next chapter only to realize I needed this chapter first because of the next Black Bull's age being 13 when Finral was fifteen... so yeah the next chapter will be a time skip... I'd like to write something for those three years but I have no idea what and I really want to get to the other Black Bulls who aren't old enough to join yet. Looks like Zora, being 19 at the time that Finral was 15, is the only one left that could joint right now but I don't know where to put him and because Yami is the only one who knew about him, I really don't have to show where he was recruited, just where he officially joined.
