"Rey, listen to me," Finn said as the Jedi tore through the remaining cabinets in the welcome chamber, "Do not go alone to these caverns the First Order has been mining,"
"I have to," Rey said. "There's only one submersible within walking distance, and it can only hold one being,"
"Then we come back for it,"
"If we wait any longer, there will be a fresh round of stormtroopers to defend the building and it's premises, likely more than the three of us can take on alone,"
"But if we-"
"No," Rey insisted as the sound of turbolaser fire growing louder. "It's now or never. I'm one of the Resistance members the First Order's wants. The further you stay away from me, the more likely you'll make it out of this alive.
"Besides, I'm the only one in the Resistance who's Force-sensitive. If only a single being can go into these mines the Sith are so interested in, then it should be me,"
Chewbacca let out a pained growl of disapproval.
Stopping momentarily from rummaging, Rey looked at the small group. "Look," she said as her voice softened, "There were no physical bodies to bury when Han, Luke, or Leia died. If we're able to at least give Lando a final resting place, then we should do so. Take him back to the ship and continuing fighting with the others. I'll have my homing beacon with me, so if I don't rejoin you after the battle you'll know where I am,"
"Rey…" Finn was out of arguments; her name was his final plea.
There was so much Rey wanted to say to her closest friend, particularly since they hadn't spoken since she'd told him about her relationship with Ben Solo. The unspoken words wrestled in her throat, but all she could do was embrace him.
"Be safe," she whispered, then turned around and left the room without looking back.
