WASSUP MY DUDES?! Yeah, yeah, I know it's been a while, Sorry! I'm homeschooled and school just started back up for me. Let me tell you, it is not easy to get back into Latin after 3 1/2 months of break! But anyways, enough spilling of my woes! Let's get into the story! This chapter doesn't have a whole lot of Jack-Mac angst but it does have a couple very Jack-like moments! Hope y'all enjoy!

Jack was silent as they pulled into the church parking lot. He hadn't been able to take any false name, but he'd be using a false past. Supposedly, now, he was an former army officer who was dis-honorably discharged and had a very spotty past. It included armed robbery, connections to terrorists, and a very bad reputation as a gag member known for getting what he wanted. He did have one thing in his past though that would help support his protectiveness for Mac. The tech team had decided to leave it on his record. He had started a brawl in the barracks because one of the men had hit Mac, blaming the blonde for his partner's stupidity. Jack had leapt to Mac's defense and a fight had ensued. It was one of the only true things left in his past. And Jack was glad for it. Now, he could pass off any defense for the blond on their history.

He glanced over at his partner. Mac looked beyond nervous, and his eyes darted everywhere. His hands were twitching nervously and he couldn't keep his leg from bouncing. Jack sighed, this was gonna be a rough assignment. Mac was already freaked out.

"Kid," Jack spoke up after seeing Mac look up at the church for the fourth time in just a few seconds, "you have got to calm down. It'll be okay," he smiled reassuringly, "this op will go as smooth as butter. You'll see."

Mac glanced over at him and Jack could see the fear in his bright blue eyes, "maybe this wasn't a good idea," he whispered, his head hung low, "what if-"

"We'll be fine," Jack reached over and gripped his shoulder, "Mac," he made the younger man look up at him, "we'll be okay. We'll get in, get what Matty needs for an arrest, and get out. Smooth as butter, quick as lightning."

Mac sighed and sat back in the seat, his hand hovering near his seat belt buckle, "I don't wanna go inside," he admitted quietly.

Jack looked up at the church, "because then it will be real?" he waited for Mac's nod of affirmation, "kid, it's real," he told his friend, "and we're doing this. We do this and everything can calm down. He won't ever hurt you again, you and I can take care of any repercussions, and you can see Bozer again," he promised, "I've got your back, Mac. I promise."

Mac nodded, taking a deep breath then un-clipping his seat belt, "then let's go."

"That's the spirit," Jack released the kid's shoulder and they climbed out of the car, "let's do this."

Mac led the delta inside and down a set of back stairs. He rapped out a series of knocks on what looked like a cellar door. Two sharp taps then one loud bang. The door swung open and Mac was met with the business end of a double-barreled shotgun. The blond barely flinched.

"Jose," he greeted the man stiffly, "I'm going to see my father, get out of my way."

The man, a tall broad Hispanic, lowered the gun slowly and eyed Jack, "you bring fresh meat for the fights, Macgyver?"

"No,' Mac snapped, "but dad might have a new use for you once he hears the suggestion."

Jose sneered, "get inside," he grabbed Jack and Mac's arms and dragged them inside.

Jack jerked his arm away, "hands to yourself, buster."

Jose snarled, "watch your mouth, Cowboy."

"Jose," a new voice snapped, "shut your sorry mouth and get out of his way."

"Thank you Marcus," Mac nodded in the direction of an even larger man in the far corner, he glanced back at Jack, "Jack Dalton," he introduced, "meet Jose and Marcus Warez."

"Charmed," Jack gritted out, then looked at Mac, "are we gonna go see your old man, or what, kid?"

Mac rolled his eyes, "c'mon," he led Jack past those two men and into a series of large tunnels. Each tunnel had an offshoot that lead to a hall of rooms. Every room seemed to have something in it. There were barracks, labs, workshops, and more things than Jack ever expected to fit under a building as small as the church. Mac led his friend into a large room where there was a tall, large blonde man looking over a large map with a few equally large men.

Mac cleared his throat hesitantly, "excuse me," his voice was considerably quieter, and his shoulders were hunched slightly in on himself, "father, I'm back."

The man ignored him, instead continuing to look over his map. The other men cast curious glances at Jack but pretty much ignored Mac. Mac lowered his head and stared hard at the floor.

"Sir," he spoke up, a slight tremble barely noticeable in his voice, "sir, I've come back and I brought Dalton."

At this the man stood up, "Angus," the man spat, "can't you see I'm working. Show the man around and come back later. I'm too busy to deal with you right now."

Mac flinched slightly at his father's rebuff, "sir," he protested slightly, "you told me to bring him straight to you."

Macgyver Senior rolled his eyes, "I thought I also told you to not interrupt me when I'm working. I don't have time for this."

Mac nodded, "yes sir," he glanced over at his partner, "c'moon Jack, I'll show you around."

"Wait," James snapped, looking Jack over, "you served with my son?"

"Yes sir," Jack replied easily, as if he couldn't care less that James was a mass murderer, "we served together in the sandbox."

James nodded slowly, "what experience do you have with bombs?"

"Just what your son taught me," Jack admitted, "but to be fair it was whole hell of a lot."

James sized jack up, "you have any experience in..." he paused, "persuasion?"

Jack grinned maniacally, "I can get what I want, sir."

James crossed the floor and shook Jack's hand, "I think you'll be a excellent addition to our team, Dalton."

Jack smiled, accepting the man's outstretched hand, "glad to be of service, sir," revulsion grew in his throat as he shook the man's hand, but he was careful not to show it on his face.

"Looks like my son isn't a complete failure," James glared slightly at the younger man.

Jack's eyes narrowed before he could stop them, but he quickly composed his expression, "mhm," he grunted, refusing to outright agree with the man.

James studied him, "I hope you won't cause any trouble, Dalton."

Jack shook his head, "not if I can help it, sir. I don't like to rock the boat, but I will."

James nodded, "good. We could use more men like you," he turned to MAc, "now, son," he snapped, "go show your friend around. He'll be sharing a room with you, Steve, and Martin."

"Yes sir," Mac nodded, still not looking up.

James' hand snaked out and slapped Mac's connected sharply with Mac's cheek. Jack bristled in a nger at the treatment, but bit his tongue to keep from saying anything.

"Look at me when I speak to you," James spoke with a quiet and controlled voice, almost intimidating, "Angus, I mean it."

Mac looked up but didn't meet his father's eyes, "yes sir," he spoke clearly, not wanting to elicit another slap.

James grabbed Mac's arm, "well," he said briskly, "how 'bout that tour, Wonderboy?" he directed a weak, half salute in James' direction, "see ya later, Bossman."

He pulled Mac away from his father and out the door. James frowned thoughtfully. the man was independent. That could pose an issue lateron, but for now he wouldn't let it worry him.

"He seems very protective of your kid," James' partner, Levi Wilks, spoke up, "that a problem?"

James shook his head, still looking in the direction his son had just disappeared from, "not yet, Wilks," he turned to his partner, "not yet."

***Line Break***

Matty frowned in concentration. She hated when her agents went in blind. Absolutely hated it. Especially when she was the blind one. She looked at the screen, watching the heat signatures move around under the base. Jack had managed to smuggle in one of Phoenix's satellite signals so that she could see what was vaguely going on. It had surprised her just how expansive the tunnels actually were. They spread several miles and held many, many concerning heat signatures. She knew that James Macgyver was building something, but she was unsure as to what it was precisely. Her team had assumed it was nuclear, but now they weren't so sure. it didn't give off the same signatures as a nuclear bomb did. Her frown deepened as she studied the reports. It was possible that the signatures her team was reading off of was false. That they were some sort of storage. It had to be kept hot for some reason.

She rubbed her forehead and glanced at her watch. She should be getting an update from Jack soon. She bit her lip, she didn't want him on this mission. She hadn't ever wanted him on this mission. He was emotionally involved and that made it dangerous. She could only hope he didn't blow his cover and get himself killed. She sighed, screw patience.

"Nicki," she snapped at the young technician next to her, "do you have any updates from Agent Dalton?"

The girl looked down at her laptop, "no ma'am,' she shook her head, "nothing yet."

Matty growled, "why not?"

"he hasn't sent any in yet," Nicki replied calmly, "would you like to send a report to him?"

Matty shook her head irritably, "no," she rolled her eyes in frustration, "if he hasn't sent in a report yet then he has a good reaso-"

"Ma'am," Nicki interrupted, "his update just came in."

"Open it," Matty ordered sharply, turning to the screen.

"Hiya Matty!" Jack's voice came over the sound, "listen, babe," Matty snorted, clearly Jack needed an excuse to place a call, "I got here just fine! Mac's just given me the show around his crib and then we're gonna grab some chow. His dad's a gem, and his friends are neat-"

Another voice broke in, "you done yet man? I want my phone back!"

Jack's voice quieted, as if he'd pulled it slightly away from the phone, "well, I wouldn't have to use your phone, Martin, if Mac's daddy didn't have a no phone in the bedrooms policy," his voice grew louder as he came back, "anyways. Love you babe, can't wait to see ya again! Peace out!"

Matty raised her eyebrow, "that was interesting."

Nicki snorted, "mhmm," she became very interested in her computer screen as Matty glared at her.

"His language choice leaves this room," Matty warned, "and I'll have you strung up by your toes, locked in a room, and the key melted down for bullets."

Nicki grinned and nodded, "yes ma'am," she smiled mischievously, "never leaves this room."

Matty rolled her eyes, knowing that within minutes, the terminology rumor would be spread through the Phoenix compound. She sighed, well, that was the price she paid as the boss. She knew it was all in fun, though, so it didn't bother her. She loved her agents, and they loved and respected her.

She looked back at the screen, watching the many heat signatures move around underground, "stay safe, Dalton."

***Line Break***

James Macgyver hovered behind the technician, gun pressed into the civilian's back. Two gunmen stood at the windows, watching outside carefully. The terrified man typed in several keys, fear making his hands wobble.

"Wh..who are you searching for... sir?" the man's voice trembled almost as hard as the rest of his body.

"Jack Dalton," James snapped, "and search deep," he snarled, something about his son's friend didn't set well with him, "very deep."

"Ye-yes sir," the man stuttered, typing in the man's name quickly. He scrolled through the search results quickly and clicked on one of them, "here, si-sir," he gestured to it, "it's a CIA file..."

"Is it a rap sheet," James demanded, "or a search warrant?"

"N-no, sir," the man was confused, "it's an agent file... he doesn't work with them any more... It says he-here that he works for a think tank called... called Phoenix. It's a government facilitated think tank... he's their top agent," he gulped, "this is the only file I could find on him."

Anger burned in James' gut. His son had tried to pull one over on him. His own son! He slammed his hand down on the table in anger. The technician, or hacker as he should be called, flinched away from him. Phoenix. It was always Phoenix. They had been riding his shirt-tails for years, ever since his army partner had taken over as their leader.

"Walsh," he growled, "I'm going to kill your agent."

The hacker trembled in fear as James stood straight up, "print that off for me," he ordered the man.

"Ye-yes sir," the man stammered, typing away ad soon, James had the paper file in his hands.

"Take care of him," James ordered shortly, exiting the room.

He heard the an scream in terror, the report of a gunshot, then the two men exited the room.

"Follow me," James snapped, "and don't breathe a word of this," he glared them both into submission, "to anyone."

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! So, yeah, Jack is in definite danger. And no one knows it yet! Ooh, I can't wait to publish the next chapter! Hope y'all enjoyed this one! Feel free to leave a review or a suggestion! Love y'all!
