Lucy had gotten up early to pack her things. Natsu got up with her. "You know I am really gonna miss having you here." he was leaning against the door frame. "Yeah, me too, you always make such yummy food, and you keep the house nice and clean." Happy added, he was on the bed helping Lucy pack a few of her things.
"I'm not gonna lie i'm going to miss this too. You know you are always welcome over. We can play games and talk just like we do here, plus we will be closer to the guild and shopping."
"Yeah, I guess you're right, you're always welcome her too." Natsu said picking up her suitcases. She had collected quit a bit since she moved to Magnolia, they would have to make two trips to get all her things.
She met the landlady in her office at 8 am. It was a short exchange, she handed over the money and Lucy got the key. Running up the stairs to open the door she stood in the center. It had been two weeks since she was there. It looked just as she remembered.
Natsu and Happy entered putting her things down in the corner. "We need to get you some furniture," Natsu said. "Yes, I should start with the essentials. A bed, dresser, couch, table..." she paused, "ugh, this is going to cost me a fortune." she complained.
"It's okay Lucy, We will get you all the things you need, we are just going to have to go on more jobs." he said trying to cheer her up. "Lets at least get you a bed today. The rest will come. Who knows maybe someone at the guild has something you can use?"
Lucy loved that he was always able to cheer her up. "Thanks, i'm sure you're right. Lets go to the guild and eat breakfast, I can put it on my tab for now." She said.
...
The guild was lively so early in the morning, some were eating breakfast before they started their day or looking at the job board. The two sat down at the bar. Happy flew to sit in the bar. "Good Morning, Lucy, Natsu, Happy. What are the three of you up to today?" Mira asked as they sat down.
"Morning Mira, I moved into my apartment today, gonna get a few things in town later to furnish it. Thought we would start with some coffee and breakfast first." Lucy told her.
"Oh I thought you were going to be living with Natsu? Hmmm. Anyways, what are we having this morning? Also, have you seen the new issue of Sorcerer Weekly?" Mira said pulling out the magazine from under the bar.
Lucy and Natsu both looked puzzled. "What do you mean?" Lucy asked, taking the magazine Mira offered. She flipped through the pages until she stopped. Natsu and Happy leaned over her shoulder. There was a two page spread about them performing at the fire festival. One Page was them right before they bowed at the end showing the destruction they caused. Lucy's face went red because in the picture she was holding her clothes together but she also couldn't help but noticed the way she and Natsu were looking at each other. She remembered the conversation they had before.
The title of the article on the second page caught her attention. "The Fire Festival was a riot once Fairy Tails Wizards, Lucy and Natsu, performed leaving the stage in ruins but the crowd all fired up. (no pun intended)"
"I can't believe they actually ran this with out our permission. What are people going to say?" Lucy whined.
"I bet you put on a pretty amazing show." Mira gave them the compliment even though she wasn't there.
"It was pretty amazing, you should have heard the crowd, they loved us." Natsu added, "It was the best job I ever went on." Lucy looked to him knowing it wasn't just the performance he was talking about. She felt her face get warm again.
"Yeah, it was pretty great," Lucy admitted. Mira had left after they ordered their food.
"Okay spill it." Happy said.
"What?" Lucy and Natsu both said in unison.
"You haven't told me about your job or your time in Crocus, since you've been back you only gave me my super yummy fish."
"Oh, yeah, sorry, we got home late and this morning and Lucy's apartment." Natsu answered his little buddy.
"Sorry Happy, it was really fun you'll have to come with us next time, you can have all the fish you want." Lucy said.
"You guys better" Lucy and Natsu took turns telling Happy the story of their adventure, from arriving in the city to checking out the stores and food. Natsu told him in great detail all about their performance from busting out in flames to battling Taurus, even about how Lucy's clothes got burned off. Lucy punched him in the arm when he told him that part. Lucy finished the story by telling him how beautiful the lights were and how the rode the ferris wheel, only leaving out bits and pieces.
"Wow it sounds like you two had a pretty good time." Happy said, "So Natsu, did you ask her out yet?"
Both Lucy and Natsu's face turned bright red, thankfully Mira came back with their breakfast. "Here you go- are you guys okay?" Mira asked noticing the color in both of their faces.
"Oh it's nothing," Lucy said waving her hands in front of her embarrassed. They were dating, kind of, nothing official yet. She liked the way things were she didn't want to rush things.
Natsu started to dig in to his meal, leaving Happy with a suspicious look on his face. "Don't thing this conversation is over" Happy said letting it drop for now.
...
In town Natsu showed her where he got his bed so that she could get the same one she loved so much. "This is the one" he said jumping up on it and reaching his hand out for her to join him. She looked around for anyone near and the grabbed his hand. They stood their until Natsu started bouncing causing Lucy to almost fall. "Hey" she said getting her balance back. "You're supposed to jump with me" he said taking her hands again and bouncing.
"Just kiss her already" Happy teased. They both gave him a glare. "You know Happy to answer your previous question, we are dating," Lucy said getting a reaction out of him and Natsu. "We are?" He asked
"Yeah, I just made it official." Lucy affirmed. Natsu smiled big pulling her into the biggest hug. "That's great, that makes me really happy" he said boisterously. "Shh, Natsu, keep it down, we may be official but I still like the private moments. I don't want everyone in the guild to get into our relationship so early on. you know?" he knew exactly what she meant, but he was so excited he wanted to share it with everyone. "Okay," he said.
"Soon though, okay?"
"Wow, I didn't think Natsu would actually have a girlfriend," Happy said stunned.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Natsu asked annoyed, Lucy laughed, Natsu was attractive, strong, funny, sweet, maybe a little immature at times but why wouldn't he? she thought. I mean she was his girlfriend now. She shook her head with a sigh. "Alright boys, lets by the bed and get it home."
They got the bed all set up in her apartment and went back out to get more things like bedding and small things for the kitchen and bathroom. Mira told her to put a notice up on the job board about her needing furniture and if anyone was getting rid of anything she would take it.
After a half a day of shopping and going back and forth between going out and her apartment, they ended up back at the guild, she was bombarded by a few guild members about her wanted sign. "Really thank you, bring it by later the guild and I'll pick it up. Some had already brought a few things and left it over by the job board.
"See what did I tell you Lucy?" Natsu said patting her head.
"Yeah yeah," She responded.
Sitting at their table, they were soon joined by Erza, Gray, and Levy. "LUCY! We need to discuss your house warming party."
"O-oh yeah, that's right, I did say I would do that huh? Well, I still need to move more stuff in and unpack maybe in a few days would work." She suggested.
"That's perfect, that gives me more than enough time to plan everything out." Erza said, Lucy was worried she was going to go a bit overboard with the planning. She seemed very serious about it. "Just something small right, Erza?" Lucy wanted to make sure she knew that she didn't want the whole guild in her living room. She didn't want to get kicked out after just moving in.
"Sure, sure, just some close friends, cakes and games. I promise." Lucy had a hopeful look on her face.
"Lucy, I can't wait to see your place," Levy said getting the blondes attention.
"I can't wait either Levy, you and I are going to need to start a book club or something." Lucy suggested, getting an ecstatic response out of the little blue head, "That's a wonderful idea, I wonder if Freed would join us?" She thought out loud.
"Freed?" Lucy asked.
"Oh, he's another member of the guild, he likes to read too though he isn't around much being a apart of the Thunder Legion and all." she said.
"The more the merrier I guess, uh whats the Thunder Legion?"
"The Thunder Legion is ran by the Master's grandson, Laxus who is an S class wizard, he and three others formed a team, they don't come around much." Levy replied.
"Ah, I see, I didn't know the Master had a grandson."
The girls started to talk about things that the boys no longer wanted to be a part of. "Hey Lucy" Natsu quickly interrupted, "Gray and I are gonna go out for a bit, meet you later?" he asked putting his hand on her shoulder. She glanced at him and nodded. "Okay, see you later then, have fun." she smiled at him. Natsu started to lean in but backed off quickly, he couldn't kiss her in front of everyone. Not yet at least. She waved goodbye as the two and Happy walked out of the guild.
They talked about what books they wanted to start with and about the party for a little while. Mira brought them over some wine and sat with them. "Thanks Mira!" They all said.
"isn't it a little early to start drinking?" Lucy asked
"Not at all it's late afternoon" Mira winked at her. "So what are we all talking about?" Mira asked
"Lu and I are going to start a book club," Levy said "Wanna join, Mira?"
"Sure i'd love too."
"We are also discussing house warming details for Lucy, since she just moved into her new place," Erza added.
"Oh, how wonderful, I have the perfect cocktail recipe, what do you say?"
"Sounds good to me," Erza said looking to Lucy, "Yeah, sounds great, it will be nice to get together for some fun," Lucy was starting to get more excited about it as they talked about plans, Erza was going to bring cakes and decorations, Levy was going to bring some snacks and games and Mira was going to bring the alcohol. Everything was planned out.
"So Lucy, since we are having all this fun girl talk, you and Natsu seem pretty close these days?" Erza said
"Oo-oh yeah? You think?" she was playing it cool, not wanting to give too much away.
"You did just go on a job together right?" Levy asked leaning in close trying to get her to spill any secrets. Lucy became shy, she had never had girlfriends before, it was nice but also intimidating. She wanted to tell them everything, but she also remembered what she told Natsu. She looked down at her glass of wine that was now empty. "Oh why don't you give me that glass, Ill go fill you up" Mira took her glass and brought it back filled with more wine and a full bottle. "Don't tell the master, this one is on the house."
So was that their plan, get her tipsy and she spills all her secrets. "Isn't their anything else to talk about? What about you Levy, you seem close with Jet and Droy?" she tried to counter the conversation.
"Oh, please, those guys? They are both madly in love with me but I see them as nothing but little brothers, plus they are my team, Shadow Gear for the win." She fist pumped the air.
"Don't think you are off the hook just yet, Missy, spill it." Erza chugged the rest of her wine and waited for Lucy to answer.
"Well, I uhh, Natsu and I are.." She took a drink of her wine, hoping it would calm the nerves.
"You are what?" Mira asked impatiently.
"We are taking things slow, we don't want everyone in our business just yet, so please be quiet about this." She blurted out.
"I KNEW IT" Erza yelled making Lucy flinch from the loudness in her voice.
"Shh, keep it down, what did I just tell you." Lucy grumbled
Levy and Mira were excited for her, they both haven't seen Natsu so happy, and that they were going to be good together. Lucy liked that she was able to be open with them, it felt nice to share her excitement too.
"So tell us Lucy, what happened on the job?" Levy asked
"Did you ladies see Sorcerer Weekly this morning? There was a whole two pages all about them" Mira interjected.
"WHHAAT?" Erza's mouth fell open, "This I must see," Mira got up to grab the magazine from behind the bar. They girls flipped through it. Lucy was tomato red."Do you guys really need to do this? Maybe all this wine isn't a good idea." Lucy admitted
"Oh it's fine, this is what girl talk is all about. You can't do it with out delicious wine." Erza told her.
The four girls spent the next hour trying to get information out of Lucy. She caved and told them everything even about there romantic rendezvous on the ferris wheel. They were all crying tears of joy by the end of her story.
"Lucy, i'm happy for you guys, girls honor this stays between the four of us." They all agreed they would keep the secret just between them during girl talk.
...
Lucy got back to her apartment just slightly buzzed, she refused to drink more than two glasses and waited a while to sober up before she went home. When she turned the light on in her apartment she noticed that she had a table and chairs. She also saw a few book stands and a desk. "What in the world, where did all this come from?" She walked further in and noticed a piece of paper.
Hey Luce, look what Gray, Happy and I found? Hope you like it. Be by later tonight. -Natsu
A tear went down Lucy's face. He was too good to her, always thinking about her needs. She would need to do something special for him. She spent time rearranging and started putting books away. She sat down at her new desk with her journal and began to write all about her adventures so far.
Natsu arrived at her apartment not long after she did. He came in through the window hoping to surprise her, but he found her fast asleep at her desk, journal still open. Natsu, gently shook her shoulders. "Luuuccy" he said. She slowly opened her eyes. "Natsu?" she said surprised. "Oh, I must have fallen asleep."
"Hey sleepy head," Happy jumped up on her desk.
"I see you found use for this desk" Natsu said, "I hoped you would, Gray and I were going out to train for a bit when we found all this stuff by a free sign, it took a while to convince him to help me take it all back to your apartment, the landlady was even nice enough to let us up with out you and a key."
Lucy was impressed, and glad he didn't go through the trouble of buying all this stuff. "Thank you Natsu," She stood up from her desk and wrapped her arms around him. "You're welcome" he returned the hug.
"Hey, uh, Lucy? Have you been drinking?" Natsu asked
Lucy's eyes widened. "Oh yeah, uh, after you left Mira came over with a bottle of wine, Natsu, uhh, they got information out of me."
"What do you mean?"
"Girl talk, means spilling your secrets and I was the hot topic of conversation. They asked me questions about you and us, and our job alone, they kept filling my glass and-"
"It's okay Lucy,"
"They promised to keep it between us girls."
"Yeah right, like Erza or Mira can keep this a secret, it wouldn't surprise me if the whole guild knew by tomorrow." Happy blurted.
Lucy glared at Happy, "You know you are really asking for it right now, CAT!"
"If they do or don't I don't care, that means I can finally do this." He reached out and cupped her face and leaned in for a quick kiss.
"oooohhhhh" Happy snickered.
"I guess you're right," she kissed him back. "Why don't you guys hang out for a minute, I am going to shower real quick."
After her shower she met them back in her room, since she didn't have a couch yet to lounge on. They hung out for a while played a card game and ate some popcorn. "Do you guys want to stay over tonight?" she asked them with a yawn.
"You sure Lucy? You don't want to spend your first night alone?" Natsu asked
"I mean, it's late and you're already here. I don't mind." Natsu looked to Happy and he shrugged. "Fine with me" Happy said.
"Okay, we'll stay,"
Her new bed was just as comfortable as Natsu's, she knew she made a good choice. Natsu climbed in next to her and Happy crawled in between them. Lucy smiled at them. "Goodnight" she said.
"Goodnight"
...
A few days later and it was party time. Erza and Levy came over early to help set up and decorate. Lucy was able to fill up her apartment with more furniture. She now had a couch and a coffee table. She had a small TV lacrima and a few lamps. She couldn't think of anything else important that she needed. Thanks to Natsu finding her some free stuff and guild members donating unwanted items she was set.
Natsu was sent on a mission to get some last minute party items while the girls stayed back to work on the food and decor. He brought Happy along too. At the guild he looked over the job board and then went over to the bar. He ran into Gray, since he was picking up something from Mira to take back to Lucy's. "Hey you coming to Lucy's tonight right?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'll be there."
"Good, she would be pissed you didn't show up."
"I get it, I told her I would go, aren't you supposed to be there helping the girls?"
"They kicked me out and sent me on errands," he groaned. He pulled out a list and put it on the bar.
Stop by the guild and get cups and ice from Mira

"Want to come with me?" Natsu asked the ice wizard on a whim.
"No way, i'm not going on your errands flame brain"
"Come on ice princess, it's not like you have anything better to do why don't you put a shirt on while you're at it." gray looked down. "How does this keep happening?"
"Yeah, come on Gray" Happy interjected.
"FINE, whatever, lets just get these over with." He had found his shirt and quickly put it on.
"Hey Mira, I am here to pick up the cups for the party." Natsu yelled out, in seconds Mira appeared with a bag of cups and another of ice.
"Here you go," she handed the stuff over. "Tell Lucy I will be by once my shift is over,"
"Sure thing"
He stopped by the store to get the few things the girls put on the list. He had to ask the store clerk where to find everything since he never went shopping for those things and Gray didn't know either. Before he checked out he saw bouquets of flowers by the register.
"What are you doing with those Flame thrower?" Gray questioned him.
Natsu had picked out a bouquet of pink and red flowers. "These are for Lucy" he said going to the register and buying his items.
"Why are you buying her flowers? Wait? Did you, are you two finally dating?" Natsu looked at Gray with a giant smile. "It's about time," Gray said.
"Yeah, we are keeping it quiet so this stays between us, got it?" Natsu got serious.
"Yeah, I got it."
"Lucy and Natsu don't want everyone in their business, but i'm pretty sure everyone will find out soon. Lucy already told Mira, Erza and Levy." Happy added.
"Oh did she?"
...
Natsu, Happy and Gray got back to Lucy's. The entire apartment was covered in streamers and balloons, you would have thought it was a birthday party. Erza may have gone overboard on the decorating. There was a mouthwatering aroma coming from the kitchen.
"Lucy, I got what you asked for" He said entering the kitchen. "Oh and these are for you." He held out the flowers to her causing her to blush.
"AWWE" Levy and Erza both giggled at the couple.
"Thanks Natsu, this is so sweet of you." She grabbed a vase under the kitchen sink and put the flowers in water and placed them on the table.
"You two are the cutes-" Erza began to say. "Oh Gray's here" Gray nodded and waved. "Yo"
"It's okay, Erza, he knows, everyone in the room and Mira know that Lucy and I are dating." Lucy had told the girls that she told Natsu not wanting to keep secrets from him. "Sorry Lucy, I had to tell Gray, though he kind of figured it out."
"It's okay, but seriously guys I don't want to go public about our relationship just yet." Lucy told everyone. They all agreed and continued to set up and finish dessert and food.
5 pm rolled around rather quickly and friends started to show up. Canna, Elfman, Jet and Droy came together. Later Bisca and Alzack came by. The apartment was starting to fill up quickly, Mira showed up with drinks apologetic that she was late. It was a really good time, they were laughing and drinking. A few more members came by, some Lucy hadn't met yet.
A few drinks down and everyone was getting a little rowdy. Natsu never left Lucy's side and she didn't leave his. "You're party is turning out well." he said "Yeah, I wasn't really sure what to expect but this is great having friends over." she replied tucking her hair behind on ear.
"Do you need another drink?" he asked, noticing her cup was empty. "Sure I'll take another." she handed him her cup waiting as he went to get them a refill. She observed everyone around her, it looked like everyone was having fun. People were engaged in conversation some playing games. Most of the food was gone already too. The games Levy brought over were a hit.
"Hey Lu, come join us" Levy yelled waving her over. She could tell some of her friends were getting rather drunk, herself included. She would need to do a better job at pacing herself. "I'll be right there Lev" She called out. Natsu had returned with her drink. "This is my last one, umm Levy wants me to play a round with them, wanna join?"
"Sure" he said putting his arm around her shoulders. Lucy had never seen Natsu drunk and she couldn't tell if he was or just being himself. Though he was awfully handsy. He would throw his arm around her or hug her. She hoped everyone was too drunk to notice.
They were playing a game called Who Am I. Where someone draws a card for you and puts it on a head band and you wear it and try to guess who or what you are by asking simple yes or no questions. Lucy was up first. Levy put a card on one of the head bands and placed it on her head. "Okay Lucy, go ahead and ask away.
"umm okay, Can you eat me?" she got a few giggles from Canna and Natsu. "No" Levy answered
"Okay, Am I human?"
"No" Canna answered this time.
"Am I an animal?"
"Yes" Levy said
"Can I fly?"
"Nope"
"Do I swim?"
"Nope"
"Do I have fur?"
"YES!" Happy said snickering,
"hmm, am I a cat?"
"Yes! Good job you did it." she pulled her headband off and looked at the card, indeed it did say cat. She laughed, what a silly game.
"Do you want to keep going?"
"We should give someone else a turn." she replied
"Okay, who wants to go next?"
"It's my turn" Canna slurred chugging her cup. Levy got her set up. Lucy stayed for a few more rounds before getting up. She found Erza and Gray talking on the couch. "Hey guys,"
"Hey, where's Natsu?"
"Right here" Natsu said shoveling cake into his mouth. "This is really good cake" he said.
"Why, thank you," Erza said. She had worked hard on making it the best cake she could.
"Whatcha guys talking about?' Lucy asked
"Oh we were talking about going on a job this weekend, you two down?" Erza asked inviting them along.
"I'm down." Lucy said.
"Me too" Natsu added. "What kind of job?"
"We haven't picked one out yet, just making plans to go on one. Would you like to meet at the guild at noon tomorrow and look at jobs?" Erza asked everyone.
"Sounds like a great plan to me." Lucy couldn't wait to go on a job all together again. This time, no snowy mountains.
The night went on and people started to leave as it got later. Leaving just a few behind.
"Anyone up for a movie?" Lucy asked. "If you need to you are welcome to stay over." she added
Levy, Canna, Erza, Gray and Natsu were the ones left, they had agreed to the movie. Lucy didn't have many but found one she thought everyone would enjoy. She turned out the lights but one lamp and sat in the corner of her couch. Erza sat next to her. Levy and Canna on the other side. Gray and Natsu sat on the floor leaning up against the couch. Natsu with Happy on his lap on the far end by Lucy and Gray on the other by Canna.
By the time the movie was over everyone but Natsu and Lucy were asleep. Even Happy was passed out. Lucy got up and motioned Natsu to follow her. He left Happy on the couch by Erza who was cuddling with Levy on the couch. Canna was sleeping sitting up with a flask in her hand. Gray had laid down on his back using a pillow to sleep on.
"Some party" Lucy told him after coming back from the bathroom.
"Yeah, it was a lot of fun. We should have more parties."
Lucy laughed quietly. "Yeah, maybe not all at my place though, we got a mess to clean up tomorrow." She climbed into bed and cuddled up into her pillow. Natsu sat on the edge of the bed and took his shoes off. He pulled off his shirt and climbed into bed with Lucy. "Since when do you take your shirt off to sleep?" Lucy asked.
"Well, I usually sleep in my boxers but I don't want it to be weird, I can put my shirt back on if you want?"
"It's okay, I want you to be comfortable while you sleep. Just keep your pants on," she said as he threw the covers over him. "Thanks for not fighting with Gray today."
"hmm, we almost did, but Erza stopped us in seconds."
"Erza is great, I am glad she's my friend" Lucy said
"Yeah me too." he agreed
"I'm excited to go on another job together."
"Yeah! We are a good team. I think I have the perfect job for us too. I saw it on the job board today when I went to the guild to get cups from Mira."
"Oh you'll have to show me tomorrow." Lucy yawned big.
"Yeah, it's a big reward and its close to town too."
"Sounds good" she closed her eyes.
Natsu wrapped his arm around her and kissed her forehead, "Night Lucy" he didn't get a response, she was already asleep. Holding her close he closed his eyes himself and fell asleep.
...
The next morning Lucy woke in Natsu's arms. He was already awake. "Are you watching me sleep?" she asked
"Maybe I am, what are you going to do about it?" he teased, "Oh i'll tell you" she said tickling him. They both smelled something sweet in the air. "I think someone is cooking something." She said.
"I think you're right."
They got up and went to the kitchen. "Good morning everyone" Lucy said, she noticed that Canna was still passed out on the couch but Gray and Levy were sitting at the table and Erza was making pancakes.
"Morning, Lucy, uh Natsu, I'm making pancakes, hope your hungry,"
"Hey fire ball what happened to your shirt?" Gray said getting him back for every time he mentioned his nudeness.
Natsu looked down and Lucy looked at him and turned red. "Oops, forgot my shirt." He ran back to the room.
"You guys slept together?" Erza said with raised eyebrows.
"We do that a lot actually.." she got weird glances from the three in front of her. "Ahh, it's not like that, get your minds out of the gutter. it's just sleep." Natsu was back with his shirt on.
Erza dished up breakfast, her pancakes were to die for. She even made a strawberry syrup to go with it. "Thanks for breakfast Erza, this is amazing," Lucy complimented.
"Yes thank you, these are the best pancakes I've ever had." Levy added.
Both Natsu and Gray nodded in agreement with their mouths stuffed with fluffy pancake goodness.
"You all flatter me, I am glad you like them" her eyes were gleaming with happiness and satisfaction.
Canna woke up a little while later and grabbed her flask she had dropped. "Ohhh, hey guys, sorry I can't stay but i'll see you at the guild later" she said before leaving.
"Uh, bye Canna," They all said but she was already out the door. "Yeah I actually think I should get going too." Levy said.
One by one they all left leaving Natsu, Lucy and Happy. They had plans to meet at the guild at noon anyways so they would all see each other soon.
"Wanna go on a run before we go to the guild?" Natsu asked.
"Yeah sure, Happy wanna come?"
"No way, i'm staying her and eating my delicious fishy."
"Alright, see you soon"
They both left the apartment, "Natsu I almost forgot" Lucy said at the bottom of the steps leading up to the apartment complex. "I have something for you," she pulled something out of her pocket. "Here"
"A key?"
"Yeah, to my apartment. You don't have to come through the window you know,"
"Maybe I like coming through the window." she rolled her eyes.
"It's creepy. Which is why I am giving you a key, please don't loose it."
