Chapter 12 is here. I was going to wait until Sunday but I have plans all day so here ya go. This is my take on the Kaby Melon Daybreak job. I wanted Lucy to finally get Virgo she's definitely my favorite spirit, so I made it a team effort. Hope you like it. Hope it's not out of place either. Anyways.

"NO, NO WAY AM I WEARING THAT" Lucy declared, they were sitting in the study of Kaby Melon's mansion. The team decided to take on a job that Natsu had found. The job request was for them to steal a book called Daybreak and destroy it. They were told many wizards had attempted this job but none have come back alive.
"Oh come on Lucy, I think you would look pretty cute wearing a maids uniform, I'll be wearing one too, you know." Erza requipped into her maids uniform. "See, you can wear a matching one, we'll definitely get the job done wearing these babies." She was holding up a matching one.
"Lucy, just look at the reward, 2,000,000 jewel, think of all the rent money you would have?" Natsu said, encouraging her to participate.
"It's not that I don't think I wouldn't look good in the uniform," She sighed "I just don't want to be laughed at is all, and besides, why do we need to wear maid costumes for this job anyways?"
"This job requires us to pose as maids to get into Duke Everlue's residence, rumor has it he's got a thing for maids, and he just so happens to be in the market for new recruits." Erza said throwing the maid outfit to Lucy.
"hmm, I see," Lucy sighed, she knew she had no choice in the matter, but she was still put up an argument before giving in. "Fine I'll do it, but for the money."
"That's the spirit." Natsu pulled her in close. "It should be an easy in and out with no problems, worst comes to worst, we burn the whole place down"
"Ehh, that's probably not the best idea Natsu." She retorted, there was no way they would hear the end of it from the master if they burned down someones house.
"What are Natsu and I supposed to do then I don't think we can pull of posing as male maids?" Gray asked
"Lucy and I will go to the Dukes mansion and get jobs as his new maids, once we are inside you and Natsu will meet us around back and we'll sneak you in."
"Like ninjas." Natsu said putting his scarf around his face except his eyes. Lucy laughed when he did this. "Fire dragon ninja mode"
"I'm pretty sure Ninjas don't speak, silence and stealth is the way to go" Lucy told him.
"Yeah, yeah I know all that" he responded pretending to sneak around the study with Happy as they came up with a plan.
"Kaby told us this guy is a force to be reckoned with. We need to be careful if we are to do this job well." Erza said.
"I wonder what is so special about this book anyways? Why would he want to destroy it?" Lucy wondered. How important could one hook truly be? And why does this guy have it?
"Maybe it's full of secrets." Natsu said. Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't.
"hmm maybe, but why would this Everlue guy have it? What's the relationship?" Lucy retorted
"I have no idea, but our job is to find it and get rid of it. If a battle happens so be it, we will be ready for anything." Erza was always prepared for any outcome. She's been on enough solo jobs to know the outcome.
...
Lucy and Erza were standing outside the gate of Duke Everlue's estate. "HELLO, IS ANYONE THERE?" They were waiting eagerly outside the gate when a man appeared.
"Can I help you?" he said
"Yes, we are here to be Duke Everlue's new maids," The girls both said.
"Very well, I will fetch the Duke himself." he walked off leaving them standing outside the gate. After a few minutes of waiting Lucy was getting impatient.
"How long is this guy going to keep us waiting?" Lucy complained straightening out her skirt.
"Patience, Lucy, I am sure it will be any minute now." As soon as Erza said that a giant woman in a maids uniform stood before them and then a small man walked around from behind her. "AHHH it's a monster" Lucy said hiding behind Erza.
"Hmm, and what can I do for you?" he asked stroking his chin.
"Uh, hi, we were told that you were looking for new maids? We have come to work for you." Lucy said, her and Erza both put on their best act hoping that there feminine features would land them the gig.
"Oh so you girls want to be maids" The monstrous woman said with a laugh. The Duke looked them over.
"Mm, no, you are not pretty enough to be my maids," he said leaving the girls with mouths wide open. "NOT PRETTY ENOUGH!" Lucy scoffed.
"Well, yes, would you take a look at the beauties I have working here? You both do not compare." Three more maids had appeared. "Be gone with you" he said and with that he turned away and the gate keeper locked the gate behind him.
"WELL THAT WAS RUDE" Lucy yelled crossing her arms. "The nerve of that guy"
Erza and Lucy were stunned, "Looks like we are all going to be sneaking in. This is turning into a real challenge. I can't believe that man." Erza said.
They went back to were the boys were waiting. Lucy was feeling self conscious of herself, she knew she was way better looking then the maids that the Duke had but it still stung.
"Whoa, what happened, why are you guys back? You guys didn't get in?" Gray asked as the girls approached them.
"Apparently we are not what the Duke is looking for, looks like we are going with plan B." Erza announced
"I think you mean plan T, Erza," Natsu corrected. He looked over to Lucy who looked defeated.
"What's wrong" he asked her.
"I just don't understand why he didn't want us, and he called us both ugly, I know it's not true but it still leaves a mark."
"Aww, come on Luce, don't listen to a word he says, you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." Natsu said leaning his forehead to hers trying to cheer her up, they both blushed. "Thanks," she said under her breath.
"Ehem, we gotta a job to do you love birds, lets stay focused" Gray said bringing the two out of their moment.
"Gray's right, lets go." Erza lead them to the back of the estate, "I scoped this place out when we got here, there's a way around back, but we will need to be quiet and sneaky."
The team had made it up to the top of the towering mansion. Happy had helped fly everyone up. "Thanks Happy" they all said.
"Don't mention it." He said out of breath. "Lucy and Erza you could really go on a diet."
"What did you say cat?" The girls both made a fist at the feline.
"If it were up to me I would just blow right through the gate instead of all this sneaking around." Natsu said. "I could really let off some steam" He was upset that the Duke had insulted the girls and even more so that he made Lucy feel the way she does.
"It's always destruction with you flame brain" Gray retorted.
"Well, I always get the job done don't I?" he responded. Gray rolled his eyes. "Yeah, by taking everyone and your surroundings out, you know we are trying to get paid and the Master has said he would suspend our job privileges if it keeps happening."
"Lets just get inside, find the book, destroy it and get back to Kaby's" Erza announced the plan on action.
Natsu had melted a hole in the window and they all climbed inside. "Alright Natsu, Lucy, Happy you search the East side and Gray and I will search the west."
They split into two teams and quietly as they could began searching the home for the book Daybreak. Lucy and Natsu were walking down one of the long hallways ways opening every door quietly hoping for a library to begin their search.
"INTRUDERS" yelled a deep voice, Lucy found it familiar.
"UHOH!" She yelled out.
"Looks, like we got company" Natsu said punching his fists together getting ready for a battle.
"How did they find u?s" Lucy was shocked, she thought they were sneaking around undetected. I guess she was wrong.
"WE MUST EXTERMINATE THEM" Said the monstrous maid from before.
Natsu had his scarf still wrapped around his head like before and charged at the maid. With a fiery kick he sent her flying. "Natsu" Lucy called out. The maid was nowhere in sight. Lucy grabbed a hold of Natsu and they both ran out of the hallway. Opening the first door she could find hoping it would be a good place to hide. She had her back to the door and eyes closed catching her breath.
"You know if we just fight em then we could knock them out to make our search easier." Natsu suggested.
"You know that we can't do that, Erza would kill us."
After entering the room Lucy finally relaxed. "Phew, I really don't like that big one, she's terrifying."
"She's no big deal" He snicked. "Hey Lucy, look at all these books!" Natsu said, Lucy turned around at his comment and looked around. "Wow, the book has to be in here" Lucy began pulling book after book off the shelves hoping to find Daybreak. "I wonder if this Duke guys has even read all these books?" She wondered. "If he has I would be very impressed."
"Look, Natsu I found a book about fish" Happy said.
"This guys sure has a lot of dirty books too," Natsu pulled one of the shelf and flipped through the pages, Lucy looked over and rolled her eyes,"Stop looking at those." She told him.
"Hmmm, there are so many books, I'm exhausted just thinking about trying to find a single one in here."
They searched for a while when Natsu pulled one off the shelf," Hey look at this one, its gold and shiny." He held it up so that she could see.
"THAT'S THE BOOK WE ARE LOOKING FOR" she cheered. "You found it Natsu"
"I can't believe you found and so quickly, it hardly seems fair." She took the book from Natsu and began flipped through it.
"Alright, hand it over, I will burn it to a crisp and we can get out of here." Natsu said reaching for the book.
"WAIT" she yelled hugging the book to her chest.
"Huh" Both Natsu and Happy looked at here with a confused expression.
"This book it written by the author Kemu Zaleson, we can't burn it"
"Kemu whatyson?" Natsu asked still confused. "He's a great author and a practicing wizard Natsu, we can't destroy this book."
"Uh, whynot?"
"Because I am his biggest fan, I thought I had read all his books but I guess I haven't, this must be one of his unpublished works, I wonder why we were sent to destroy it?"
"I don't know, but our job is to get rid of it Lucy, so that's what we gotta do."
"B-but Natsu, just let me read it real quick then you can have it and do whatever to it." Natsu wasn't sure if it was a good idea but he didn't want to disappoint Lucy, they just started dating and he was working on being supportive.
"OOOHHoho" called out a voice, "So you are after my book Daybreak, how interesting? You wizards will not make it out of here alive."
"Oh yeah, you wanna bet?" Natsu had stepped in front of Lucy shielding her, "You will not lay one hand on her head." Lucy looked at him, scared of what was about to happen. She still had the book in her arms.
"NATSU"
"LUCY"
Erza and Gray had burst through the door, "What are you guys doing here?" Natsu asked.
"We were following the Duke until he mysteriously escaped through the wall, we had to fight off his maid lackeys when we heard commotion and here we are. I see you have the book, great work." Erza told him, they had made it over to Natsu and Lucy and were ready to engage in battle.
"Guys, I gotta read this book," Lucy told them all, she was still hiding behind Natsu.
"What?" Erza said
"Daybreak is written by some author guy she likes," Natsu told them for her.
"Hmm, do you think it's important to the mission?" Erza asked,
"Uhh, It could be, why else would Kaby want it destroyed?"
"Very well then," Erza had requipped into her armor and had a sword in her hands. "We will hold him off, find a safe place to read it quick Lucy." Erza told her. She nodded and made her way through the door in the back.
"Happy go with her" Natsu turned to her. "Fly her out of here if things get rough."
"AYE SIR" he said and flew off after Lucy.
She found a small room and sat against the wall, Lucky for her she had her gale force speed reading glasses with her. One of her favorite magical items.
"Lucy" Happy called out.
"Happy, what are you doing here?" she asked him
"Natsu told me to come with you"
"Thanks, I am going to finish this book, be my look out, okay?"
"Aye" he nodded and stood by the door to keep watch.
Back in the other room Natsu, Erza and Gray were all standing by waiting for the Duke to attack. "VANISH BROTHERS, I AM IN NEED OF YOU ASSISTANCE!" he called out.
"Vanish brothers?" Gray said allowed.
Two guys dressed in black appeared before them.
"Who are you guys?" Natsu said.
"So it looks like we got ourselves a couple of Fairy Tail intruders." One of the brothers announced.
"Yeah, I believe you are right, brother." the other brother said.
"You guys, that mark, they are wizards from the Southern Wold bodyguard guild," Erza informed her comrades.
"What? these guys are wizards, looks like I get the fight I wanted after all. I AM ALL FIRED UP NOW." Natsu shouted.
"Vanish brother, I want that book, defeat these wizards while I go and search for the girl!" Duke Everlue commanded his hired guards.
"You got it" the brothers said in unison.
"KILL THEM AND GET IT BACK!" The Duke had disappeared in the ground.
"What the?" Natsu said surprised, "Where did he go? That bastard."
"That's how we lost him the first time." Gray told the fire dragon.
"Alright, lets kick some ass and go find Lucy." Natsu was already high in the air with fists of fire.
"RIGHT"
...
Lucy had just finished the book, "Hmm, what is this?" she wondered aloud.
"What is it Lucy?" Happy asked her.
"We can't burn this book, Happy, it contains a secret that I think Kaby would want to hear." She said standing up and putting her glasses away.
"You can't hide from me" Lucy's arms were pinned back.
"WHAT THE HELL?"
"LUCY" Happy called out.
"You've been a naughty girl and now it's time for punishment." The duke had a hold of Lucy. "NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU FOUND IN THAT BOOK"
"YOU ARE THE LOWEST OF THE LOW, I WOULD NEVER TELL YOU WHAT I DISCOVERED" Lucy roared.
"Oh, you think I am low, I am not the one who broke in to someones home and tired to steal their property,"
"This book doesn't belong to you" she said. "Ouuch, that hurts" His grip on her arms tightened. "Oh, but it does, now what did you find you dumb ugly girl, is it a treasure map, a family recipe. TELL ME!" he bellowed.
"NEVER" she yelled
"I will crush every bone in you body. TELL ME NOW!"
Lucy stuck her tongue out at the man. "Beehhh"
"Grr, this is no time for games little girl, I had Kemu write this book, if it contains a secret you must tell me."
"ARRGHHH" Happy dove in and punched the man in the face, causing his grip on Lucy to drop. She was finally free, "Thanks Happy, I owe you one"
She grabbed her keys. "The tables have now turned, you are in for it now" Lucy taunted feeling like she had the upper hand.
"OOOH, so you're a celestial wizard, are you?" The duke had made his way through the wall and stood before Lucy.
"Huh?" Lucy was confused.
The man then fell though a hole that appeared on the ground. "WHAT THE, is he a wizard? What kind of magic is this?"
He popped out of the ground about to grab onto Lucy yet again but she managed to dodge out of the way. She pulled out her whip and grabbed her key. "OPEN GATE OF THE CRAB, CANCER" she summoned one of her spirits. "You have no idea what the truth is in this book and you will never find out,"
"CRAB MAN" Happy shouted.
"What can I help you with Lucy baby, new hair do?"
"Cancer, not today, but I think this guy could use a little cut and color."
"Okay Ebi" Cancer was about to attack when the duke pulled out something from his pocket.
"No" Lucy said
"GATE OF THE VIRGIN PALACE, VIRGO" The giant maid from before appeared.
"HE'S A CELESTIAL WIZARD TOO? NO WAY." Lucy couldn't believe it.
"Lucy, be careful" Happy called out.
"VIRGO STEAL THAT BOOK BACK"
"As you command master."
Thud
Natsu fell to the floor. "Natsu?" Lucy asked confused, "How?"
"Uhh, I was fighting these guys called the vanish bros when that giant lady came out of no where so I grabbed a hold of her about to knock her out when the next thing I know I am here."
"There's no way you could have passed through the celestial spirit world, that's impossible."
"Lucy, you okay?"
Snapping out of her confused state," yeah, I'm fine but we got trouble." she was still confused about how he passed though the celestial world but she would come back to that later, right now she had a fight on her hands.
Natsu got up and stood beside Lucy. "Let's take em together" she gave him a nod.
The battle began, Natsu and Virgo exchanged a few blows while Lucy got found the Duke.
"Fire Dragon Iron fist." Natsu punched Virgo right in the jaw sending her flying through the wall.
Lucy and Cancer both took on the Duke before he could escape."You're not getting away this time" she cracked her whip remembering her training with Erza and snapped it at the Duke sending him to the ground but he didn't get up to fight back. "WAIT, that's all it took to knock this guy out?" Lucy was standing over the short man who had stars in his eyes. She had managed to knock him out for the count.
Natsu and Virgo were still in the heat of battle sending blows back and forth until finally she had disappeared back to the spirit world. "ALRIGHT!"
"Natsu, Lucy you guys did it." Happy cheered for them.
"Yeah we did, now lets get back to Gray and Erza." Natsu said putting his arm around Lucy's shoulders.
"Yeah"
...
Gray and Erza had just beaten the vanish brothers. They had them tied up and in the center of the room. The other maids had left avoiding a fight they knew they couldn't win. It didn't take long to bring the brothers down. Just a matter of whit and speed.
"Hey guys" Natsu announced their presence. He was dragging the duke along by the collar of his shirt and put him with the others.
"How did the end of that battle go?" Natsu was taking them on alone until Virgo showed up. Natsu had to get her out of the way so that he could finish his fight with the brothers but then he ended up traveling through the spirit world and found himself in the basement where Lucy was.
"Natsu, Lucy, Happy! I am so glad you are all safe. I see you finished that battle, did you manage to finish the book?"
"Yes, and you wont believe what I found." She told them what she discovered and everyone listened to her eagerly. "So you see we can't destroy the book just yet, we have to at least show Kaby the book and then he can decide if he stills wants the book wiped out from existence."
The four exchanged looks, until they all sighed "I guess you're right, we will still get the job done, maybe he will be happy with this discovery." Erza finally said.
Just then a girl with pink hair appeared before them. "Um, excuse me, Lucy?"
"Uh, who are you?" Everyone moved around Lucy, looking at the strange girl in front of them.
"I'm Virgo, my contract was terminated with my last master, I was hoping we could form a contract?" She said handing over her key to the blonde celestial mage.
"Me? Are you sure? Why do you look like that?"
"Oh, I take on the form of whatever I think would please my master."
Everyone all looked stunned, and let out a gasp. "Ooohh"
Lucy took her key, "Virgo, I will gladly take your key, but don't think of me as your master okay? We are friends and I can't wait to work with you."
Virgos face lit up, "I will accept whatever punishment you have for me, mast, I mean princess?"
"Punishment?" Everyone all said.
"I do like the sound of princess," Lucy said,
"Until next time princess." Virgo vanished.
"How cool you got yourself another spirit, Luce." Natsu said grabbing her and pulling her in for a hug.
"Yeah I did, and a zodiac at that." she squeezed the key tight in her hand and returned the hug.
...
Back at Kaby's mansion, Lucy explained the book and the secret that she found. He was pleased to find it was a message from his father. Though he was touched, he was still angry about his past. He still wished for the book to be burned.
"Are you sure, Mr. Kaby sir?" Lucy asked
"Yes, I want nothing to do with it, I appreciate you bringing it here, but it can't undue the hurt."
Lucy gave the book to Natsu. "Burn it" she told him.
He took the book in his hand and set flame to the it. Everyone watched as it crumpled to ashes.
"Thank you on a job well done. Let me go get your payment." Kaby said and left the room.
"Can we really accept payment for not completing the job the way you wanted?" Erza spoke up causing Kaby to turn around and look back at them.
"Yes, you can, you still took care of the book and you went through all that trouble."
"We can't accept. Sorry" Lucy was the one to speak this time, "This isn't your real home is it?"
Kaby looked down with a sad look in his eyes. "No it's not. My whole life has been a lie." He went on to tell the them the tale.
Leaving with empty pockets but high spirits. The team made it back to the guild. Maybe Lucy didn't get any rent money but she gained something much more valuable. A new key to add to her own team.
"Welcome back" Mira said with a smile "How'd the job go?"
