Chapter 17: Trip

"But I want to stay here" I sighed as CJ started complaining again.

Since Carlisle brought home a girl in transition CJ and I are going to visit our cousins in Denali for a few weeks.

"Sweetheart I told you, this will be fun. There will be lots of snow for you to play in. And its only for a couple of weeks." he crossed his arms and pouted. "But I want to stay with Edward and daddy" I frowned. "Edward and daddy are going on a trip too." We agreed that CJ would be told that Carlisle and Edward were going on a school trip, which was why we were going to Denali. We weren't going to tell him about the new girl unless she decided to stay with us permenantly. "Well then I want to go with them"

Here we go.

We have had this argument three times already. "Darling you cant. Its a school trip, you aren't old enough" he frowned and ran from the room, I sighed.

2 weeks, its only for 2 weeks. I kept telling myself that. "He will be fine love" Carlisle said as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "mmm but will I be?" he chuckled in my ear "don't worry, Carmen and Eleazar love children, they will help out as much as they can." "I'm not worried about CJ, I'm talking about being away from you" I said with a small pout. He laughed. "I will call you everyday. Twice a day" he told me, it didn't make me feel much better. "I would rather see you" he sighed. "I know love, but this girl will need help with her transition, and I can't risk you or CJ being here if she goes rogue." I nodded. "I know, but that doesn't make this any easier" I finished packing my stuff and went over to CJs room to see how he was doing.

"CJ are you ready to go?" I found him sitting on the bed with an empty suitcase and sighed. "CJ" I felt a hand on my shoulder "I'll take care of it mom" I looked up and smiled at Edward before heading downstairs. Edward had taken to calling me mom just like CJ and it made my heart so happy to know he thinks of me that way. I never ever want him to forget his human mother but it still feels nice.

I carried my suitcase downstairs and to the car before putting it in the trunk. I double checked CJs carseat to make sure it was secure before heading back in the house. I grabbed some snacks from the kitchen to keep in the car, I wanted to drive as far as we could before needing to stop. I put them in a bag and put them in the car, I looked up to see Edward carrying CJ and his suitcase outside. CJ had an iron grip on Edwards shirt.

"ready to hit the road?" I asked Edward, he nodded slightly. He put CJ in the car and handed him a blanket. "is that?" he nodded, I smiled.

Edward had gone back to his childhood home before Carlisle and he left Chicago and got a few things, one of those things being his baby blanket his mother made him.

"oh Edward" he turned to me and smiled. "Its not like he isn't coming home. I'll get it back" he kissed my cheek before disappearing into the house. Carlisle came out and said goodbye to CJ before I got in the car and we headed out.

Off to Denali Alaska.
