Take 2 ;)

The blue Volkswagen eos sped past the 'Welcome to Forks' sign and the driver shivered as a strange current passed over her. It was a straight shot from Phoenix, but she'd had to stop the night before due to the drive taking about 24 hours. It was nearing eight pm and she was getting tired again. The drive had been beyond boring and the scenery almost non-existent. With a sigh, she turned right at the traffic light on their main street and headed a few blocks over towards the edge of town where her father lived. The familiar two-story white house came into view and she opted to park along the side of the road instead of parking behind the cruiser in the driveway.

She shut her car off and grabbed the duffel bag from her trunk before heading over to the front door. The porch lights were on – warm and inviting and she smiled as she knocked on the wooden door. It was painted a sky-blue color- something she had insisted on during one of her summer stays with her father as a child. He'd never changed it.

The door opened almost immediately, and her father's familiar face appeared before he quickly pulled her into a bear hug.

"Bells! You're finally home! I was starting to get worried about you!" He boomed into her ear.

"I had to stop a few times for gas and to stretch my legs but I'm here now." She mumbled into his shoulder.

They held on for another minute before finally stepping back. She scanned her father's face and his familiar mustache. A sheen of unshed tears covered his eyes and she smiled at him again. It had been about five years since she'd last seen him, five years since Renee had refused to let her come back to Forks. However, Bella had just turned eighteen and the minute she did she had taken off to her father's house in Washington. They had kept in contact only through calls and letters and he had been the one to buy her the eos a few years back for her sixteenth birthday. Renee had only let her keep it because she had believed her when she said that she had bought it from her own funds.

"Your bedroom is all made up for you, anything you need me to bring in from the car?"

She shook her in the negative and picked up her bag from where she'd dropped it.

In true Charlie style, he didn't hover and after making sure that she didn't want any food and didn't need anything went to the living room to watch a game. Bella walked up the stairs to her bedroom and was pleasantly surprised to see that the room had been painted an inviting emerald green while the sheets on her bed were black with a white comforter. A desk sat next to her computer and it already had a laptop on it. There was a medium sized flat screen tv situated on the dresser that was slanted into one of the corners of the room and facing her bed.

Bella smiled at the thought of her father going out of his way to redesign her bedroom to fit his newly adult daughter. It didn't matter to him that she was a senior in high school and had just turned eighteen, she would forever be his little girl and he always showed her that by going above and beyond for her.

She noticed framed photos on the wall of all the summers she had spent in Forks in the past; photos with the boys down on the rez, some with Charlie, Billy, and Harry, and just the one with what she affectionately referred to as the "brat pack". That included herself, Jacob Black, and Leah and Seth Clearwater. Leah was a year older than Bella and the boys were both seventeen, but the age difference had never affected their friendship.

Leah and Bella had actually facetimed the night of Leah's high school graduation and she had been called by Jacob to see when her longtime boyfriend Collin had proposed at the celebration bonfire that night. Collin had always been a friend as Jacob's cousin, but it wasn't until after Bella had been forbidden from coming back to Forks that he and Leah had begun their relationship. That was perhaps the friendship she missed the most- the boys had always been close friends as well, but Leah was the only female friendship she'd had in her first few years of life and the only one who had stuck with her through her quiet and awkward phase.

She was moving two weeks into the school year and had never been close to any of the kids in Forks, so it'd be nice to call upon her friends again. Unfortunately, it was Monday night and there was no way her father was going to let her miss another day of school. Especially when she'd arrived with enough time to get a full night of sleep before the next day. She quickly unpacked the duffel into her drawers and took her bathing products to the singular bathroom at the top of the stairs before hopping in the shower.

After a quick scrub she snuggled into bed under her comfortable sheets and turned on The Vampire Diaries on Netflix.

That night she was sucked into startingly realistic dreams of werewolves and vampires and bright bursts of light. She felt as if she were running alongside them in the forests of La Push and more that as if she belonged to the wild. A wild current pumped through her blood and if anyone had been watching her sleep, they would've seen the light golden glow encompassing her as she dreamed.

A/N: I know we see a few stories on here where Brady and Leah are together but according to twilight sources they're actually related somehow. Collin is Jacob's cousin – from an aunt on his father's side and therefore not related to the Clearwater's and a more acceptable match. I thought making the brat pack closer in age would provide for a better story and help me make a different Bella. In this story, Bella always loved her life in Forks and her father but for reasons we're not at, yet Renee kept her away. What trouble will she get into now that she's back? I don't have a steady update schedule planned but the hardest part of this was getting this prologue done and now I have hope for the speed at which I write future chapters. Please bear with me as I teach myself to write for fun again! -Marieorsomething
