So I've been trying to upload this chapter, but something wasn't working and I couldn't even get into my account, but it's working now! Yes!
When I opened the door, I was surprised to see that Levi wasn't there. However, in that moment, I wasn't going to complain. I walked down the quiet hallway while trying to gather my thoughts. The doctors' words kept ringing in my head as I walked.
"You're pregnant."
"You're pregnant."
Without thinking, I opened up the closest door to me and walked inside. In a panic, I turned to face the door and to shut it. My forehead rested on the wood in front of me as I tried to steady my breathing. With my eyes closed, I turned around, leaned my back onto the door and slid down. Once I sat on the floor, I brought my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them, placing my face on my knees. A loud sigh left my lips.
"Well, it seems like you've had some bad news." My head shot up at the strangers' voice. My eyes met Hanji's. No words left my mouth. I just placed my face back onto my knees and let out a groan. "Now I'm really confused by this news you've received." Footsteps were heard from Hanji before they sat down next to me.
"Oh Hanji." I sighed.
"What happened?" I lifted my head and looked Hanji in the eye. My mouth opened, but no words came out. "Are you trying to catch something in your mouth?" Another groan escaped my lips before leaning back and placing my head on the door.
"I just got some news that'll change a lot of things." Were the only words I could muster about my current situation.
"Is this a guessing game? I like guessing games!" Hanji was excited about this game they had come up with themselves.
"Sure." I agreed to the antics that were about to take place.
"You're sick?"
"No."
"Your dad is alive and has found you?"
"That's not possible." I commented.
"Hm…You and Levi are no longer together?"
"No."
"Does it have to do with Levi?"
"Yes." Silence fell upon us for a few seconds while Hanji began to think.
"Oh my…" I opened my eyes and turned my head, so I could look at Hanji. A wide smile began to form across Hanji's face.
"What?" I asked.
"You're pregnant." How Hanji so easily said the words – I'll never be able to know, but I felt like I was going to be sick again just from those words.
"I don't know what to do." I admitted.
"This is so exciting!" Hanji jumped up from the floor with excitement. "You and Levi are going to be parents! A little Ryder and Levi running around. Does Levi know? What are you going to name the baby? What are you hoping for? I hope you have a boy, but a girl would be good too."
"Hanji. Calm down. Levi doesn't know yet." I said calmly. Hanji looked at me with a confused face before sitting down next to me again. "I only just found out and came in here to think about it."
"I see."
"This is a major change. I don't know how he's going to react." I admitted to my old friend.
"He's probably going to be silent for quite a few minutes. Maybe even an hour. You know he's not very good at talking." Hanji chuckled, but I continued to sit there like a statue.
"We've never spoken about children. It took him years to admit his feelings for me, so what's going to happen when there's a baby involved?" I asked aloud.
"I think he's going to be scared. Terrified. However," Hanji paused and I looked at Hanji to see they were looking out the window in front of us. "he's going to be the best father. Levi is amazing at everything he does and it's pretty annoying, but that just means he's going to be an amazing father." I nodded along with Hanji's words.
"I think so too, but this will also be one of those things that he's going to struggle with because it involves emotions." I said.
"You're right, but what parent doesn't struggle?" I nodded my head in agreement.
"The most important thing is that we show up. That's half the battle, isn't it?"
"It is." Hanji placed their hand on my knee and gave it a pat. "You two are going to be the best parents to that future baby. I'm so excited for you both."
"Thanks, Hanji."
