Kagome ducked beneath a branch as she ran along the perimeter of the Black Lake. While that phrase in and of itself sounded normal enough, it was anything but. The lake seemed to extend the longer she ran, and the curve of it seemed to grow only farther and farther out of her reach. "A charm?" She huffed, taking a breather as she placed her palms against her knees. Looking back the way she'd come from, she wasn't losing her mind. She'd run quite the distance already, but she would definitely have to turn back soon if she had plans to meet with Draco for lunch. "I wanted to run the lake, guess that was a lofty ideal at the start."

A shuffle of noise sounded from behind her, turning, she was sure she'd heard the crunching of leaves, but no one was there. Bringing her right leg into Passé, making sure to turn it out before driving her knee straight up to her shoulder. Shifting her weight, left heel facing forward, straightening her leg as she used her right hand to hold and stretch her left further. She leaned into the tilt a moment longer then lowered her leg slowly before repeating the same thing with her other leg.

Both feet finally back on the ground, she jogged carefully in place a bit, bouncing on the balls of her feet, she smiled. The black GaitLine sneakers she wore were not her normal joggers. She'd bought them just before the trip to Diagon Alley, and this would be her first time using them. Pleasant, the feel of the soles bend, the dome arch of her foot was nestled comfortably in the shoes. Turning, she began her trek back to the castle where food would hopefully be awaiting her arrival.

Draco laughed as Blaise complained about the wards that stopped boys from crossing into the girls dorms. "Why are you trying so hard?"

"It's not that I have plans of infiltrating the girls—Kagome!" He stood up suddenly, "il mio amore~ where have you been? Follow up if I may..." he followed her with his eyes, "what are you wearing? Not that I'm complaining!"

Quirking a brow, Kagome shook her head and sat down next to Draco. She wasn't exactly in uniform. While she was wearing her school robe, she had a pair of joggers on and a plain long sleeve black top that was soft to the touch. "Where's the leash, Blaise?"

"Are you implying that I need one?" He grinned.

Turning her attention away from him, she took a goblet in hand only to nearly spill it when an explosion sounded from somewhere behind her. "Salazar! What was that?" She turned to face the ruckus, watching as a boy stood from the Gryffindor table and stumbled out of the Great Hall, no doubt en route to the Hospital Wing. "Didn't he do the same thing yesterday? I'm sure of it.."

"Wonky wand," Draco smirked, "hey, sneak out with me tonight."

Raising a brow, Kagome settled back down next to him as she took a drink of the water in her goblet. "For?"

"I was thinking you and I could take a fly,"

"You are entirely too confident, Draco." She glanced back behind her and around her, "that's fine, but don't be so bold about it. I won't be happy to have my broom confiscated because you talk too much."

"Wait, you two managed to get brooms past the wards!?" Theodore whispered in a hush.

Kagome shook her head, "afraid not friend. We had no hand in how they got into our room. Oh," Kagome noticed for the first time that Harry wasn't at the table, "is Harry still at Hagrids'?"

"Yeah, I went with him but Hagrid did this really strange eyebrow and head tilt thing, he wanted to talk to Harry alone, so I just made up an excuse to leave them be. I'm sure it'll be fine." Draco waved off her look of exasperation. "Stop worrying, we can't be with him twenty-four-seven."

"...I suppose you're not wrong."

Cleverly sneaking out and about the castle grounds, Kagome and Draco had taken to riding on their brooms while most in their year were already in bed. Not ever staying out longer than an hour, but sure to keep up the practice of flying. Today would be the first chance they'd have to show off, and by they, it was mostly Draco who would be grandstanding.

As she looked down at the broom that lay before her, she couldn't help but cringe at just how old it was. "What year is this? Certainly not a nineteen thirty-seven..."

"Good eye, Higurashi!"

Jumping nearly a foot in the air, Kagome turned to see the flying coach staring thoughtfully down at the broom as she looked on reminiscently. "Madam Hooch!"

"Good afternoon class!"

"Good afternoon, Madam Hooch,"

She nodded, "Everyone here is using Cleansweep Three's. These are all quite trustworthy, and safe for the average witch and wizard." Her eyes caught Kagome's and she smirked, "as well as the not so average." Walking down the way, she nodded to a few students before turning to face the group as a whole, "right then! What are you all waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of your broomstick," she ushered for the students to move hastily, "stick your right hand over the broom, and say "up"."

Among the students to have immediate obedience, there was Kagome, Draco, Harry and... Theo. He caught her look of surprise, a conceited smirk if ever she saw one, found its way to his lips. Shaking her head, she mouthed, "nose down."

"—of your broom, I want you to mount it, and grip it tight."

Kagome focused on the feel of the broom in her hands, the contours smooth, despite its old age. She firmly positioned herself on the broom while catching the eyes of her fellow Slytherin's. It would be no surprise to her if Slytherin's ended up flying circles around the Gryffindors the first time around.

Hearing a sharp whistle, a few students away, murmuring started up as Neville had suddenly kicked off the ground. Not that she saw a problem with it. While he was a bit wobbly, alright... really wobbly, he had still kicked off the ground at her whistle. When his broom shot forward and started to twist unfavorably for him, she couldn't help grinning at the prospect of seeing him fall. 'Ah, that's no good. It won't be any fun if he causes all of his injuries.' Giving a careful nudge, she ignored Madam Hooch as she yelled out for her to come down. Shooting past her flying instructor, she raced off towards Neville as he was holding onto his broom for dear life. When his broom raced out of his grip, leaving him behind, it was that moment that Kagome had reached her hand out and caught his. 'Merlin! He's heavy!'

"Ah! D-don't!"

She looked him in the eye, seeing terror on his face, not from the height at which they were hovering, but the fear of who had him. 'See...now I want to drop him.' Rolling her eyes, she carefully lowered herself and relaxed as his feet touched the ground, "don't worry, Longbottom," she leaned in just enough so that she could whisper and only he'd hear her, "next time, I'll watch you fall." Straightening, she turned and left him trembling on the ground. The Instructor scolded him, turning fierce eyes to Kagome before sighing, a small grin on her lips, "twenty-five points, Miss. Lestrange, for selflessly saving another student at the foolish risk of your own life. You know, you'd make quite the Quidditch Player."

Draco nudged her on the shoulder, Harry smiling as she blushed and shook her head.

"With all due respect, I'm sure there are others among us that are much better." Was she lying? Yes, but she didn't really want to play Quidditch.

"Well then, I'll have to see about that, now won't I!? I can be convinced to put in a good word for above average flyers, for tryouts, if I'm impressed. So far, Miss. Lestrange, you have impressed me. Now let's see if anyone else can! Line up! Back in position! Mount your brooms!" She watched her students carefully, Neville back on the broom, this time he looked a bit more nervous, the pale color of his cheeks had certainly become ghostly. Once everyone was ready, she placed the whistle between her lips and blew. "TWEEEET!"

"Can't believe they'll let us try out!" Draco was beaming as they climbed their way down the steps to the Slytherin Dorm. Still giddy over their Flying class, that after Neville's near fatal accident, they were able to show off and get some rightfully deserved attention regarding their skill.

"Elecampane," Blaise said, the entry to the dorm swinging open before they all stumbled inside. "A shame Kagome doesn't want to tryout."

"I'll talk her into it."

Harry laughed, "you think so? Training in the mornings aside, practice is time-consuming and will take away from her normal activities."

Throwing himself back on the settee, Draco groaned out his annoyance. Beside him, Theodore sat down, not pulling his eyes away from whatever book he was currently devouring. "I can't compete with her other activities. "

"What was that with Longbottom?"

Theodore finally spoke up after silently listening to the three talk about Quidditch for the last two hours. Not that he didn't like Quidditch, but this had been bothering him since their Flying Class.

Harry looked at Draco who seemed confused as well, not saying anything on the matter, he wasn't really equipped with the knowledge to give an opinion.

"You mean how she saved Longbottom?" Blaise questioned, to be sure that he was following Theo's train of thought, mostly.

Giving a curt nod, he closed the book in his hand. No longer interested in the Medieval telling of Merlin's Wonders. "I would wager she's got something planned for Longbottom. She's too clever to do something in front of a teacher, and getting in good with our Professors puts her out of sight out of mind when things get rolling."

Draco made a noise in the back of his throat, a sound of uncertainty, "not sure about that. If I know my cousin, she probably saved him because the thought of him receiving any injuries not explicitly caused by her, was upsetting."

"Really," that bothered Harry. The idea that Kagome had saved someone with the very intention of personally causing them harm. Well, he did understand that there was history there. One that he had no intention of involving himself in. Kagome was a smart girl, but she was still eleven, just like the rest of them. Perhaps they could work things out... well, maybe not. Her parents had tortured Longbottoms parents into insanity. A pretty decent reason to be terrified of someone, he'd wager. As for Kagome, she seemed to blame Longbottom for her parents divided attention, or something. He still wasn't sure. What he did know, was that there was no simple way of going about fixing that mess.

"We should head to bed," Draco stretched.

"What about Kagome?"

"Really, Harry. You even stayed with us. Have you learned nothing about her? She's nearly always the last to turn in. Try to stay awake waiting on her, and it'll only hurt you in the morning."

Three out of four of them turned in. With Theodore opening his book once more, he returned his attention to the book of Arthurian Magic that he held in his hand.

Me: Here is chapter fifteen, hope you all enjoyed! I have two hours left at work, and while it never takes me four hours to write a chapter, I was highly distracted by BTS videos the entire time I tried focusing. I'll update another chapter tomorrow!
