Hi everyone! Spring break, am I right?
I've had this chapter written for a while, but I never got to posting it. If you look down at the end of the chapter, it says why.
I'm skipping over a huge time period in the next few chapters, so... yeah.
Disclaimer: I don't own any characters except Rhea. I also own my plot, although some lines and events will be mentioned or used in these stories below to Luscasfilm and Disney (ugh).
Bon appetit, everyone!
Chapter Three: The Mygeeto Campaign
20 BBY
A knock on the door.
"Ahsoka." Don't wake me up…
"Ahsoka, I'm going to the front lines."
"Rhea," Ahsoka mumbled. "I'um tryin' to sleep." She rolled back over in bed.
"Alright. Yeah, that's fine," Rhea smiled. "It's just that... I'm going to the front lines!"
"What?" Ahsoka cried. "The front lines?"
"I know - my first real battle!" She gushed. "Isn't that so exciting?"
"Not exciting. Scary, nerve-racking, so… just take care of yourself, huh?" Ahsoka asked.
"Of course." Rhea smiled. "I'll let you sleep now."
"Yes, thanks." Ahsoka yawned as the younger girl began to walk out of the room. "Oh, by the way, Rhea, where are you going?"
"Well, once we board the Tranquility, we're going to some Separatist-inhabited system called, um… Mygeeto, I think."
"Really? Mygeeto? That's the third battle to take place there. There's already been two Jedi campaigns, one of them by Master Mundi, and no surrenders as of yet," Ahsoka said, racking up her mind for memory of her lessons.
"Yeah, Master Unduli was really surprised that they were sending us."
"Well," Ahsoka said, "May the Force be with you, Rhea." The latter smiled and turned away.
Finally, the Togruta Jedi thought. Some sleep.
"Master!" yelled Rhea. "We must push forwards." A clone shot backwards behind her, but she continued to deflect bolts with her blue lightsaber.
"No, Rhea. You need to see the cost of war. We have to fall back," Luminara grunted, stabbing an oncoming droid.
The learner drew in a breath, but let it go.
"Men!" yelled Luminara. "Fall back!"
Though the men were running back, they and the oncoming droids were still firing at one another.
"Faster, men!" Rhea screamed, her throat dry and legs cut and sore.
"I'm sorry, Commander!" A clone panted. "I can't - agh!" A blaster bolt impaled itself into the clone's chest before he could die of exhaustion and heat.
"Trooper!" Rhea yelled, but kept pulling herself backwards.
Republic forces finally got far enough that the droids halted.
"Bring all walkers to form a circle - we must create a perimeter!" Luminara shouted, giving out orders in a natural voice. "Tend to the wounded. Get all men inside and deploys all shields to the North. We know that the Separatists don't come from the South."
Rhea stumbled around blindly as the men rushed around her, carrying barrels of supplies and first aid. All my fault… not strong enough… dead… The world faded.
"Padawan."
Too weak.
"Padawan!"
This is not your path… I can help you be strong enough.
"Rhea!"
"Master!" Rhea shot up. "What happened?"
"Here," Luminara handed a cup of water to her as a medic sat her up on the ground. "Drink."
"Why - Did I pass out?" she asked in embarrassment. "Not a great way to go down."
"You have overworked yourself, Padawan. Rest," her master said sympathetically.
"General!" Commander Gree ran into the tent. "It's an urgent comlink from the post on our northwestern front."
A female voice crackled over the comlink: We have been ambushed by droids - we are in immediate need of assistance. We need air support. Our forces are becoming diminished - "
"Master, we have to help them - you heard her. They were ambushed!" Rhea pleaded.
"I'm sorry, Padawan," Luminara looked down. The hardest thing about war was denying the thought that everyone comes home. "Our forces are also diminished, and we cannot spare anyone for a hopeless mission."
"Wait!" Gree heard a vibration on his wrist: "There's another person trying to contact!"
We hear you, General! Skull Squadron is attempting the air strike.
"Who's that?" Rhea asked.
Thank you, Skull Squadron. Avoid all Republic forces and come to the drop zone, came the woman's voice again.
Thank me later, General!
"The situation seems under control, General Unduli," Gree stated. "Orders for the men?"
"Tell the men that they can relax."
"Um. Relax, sir?" the clone commander said nervously.
"Yes," Luminara smiled. "We have a long battle ahead of us." Gree nodded and walked out dismissively.
Rhea sighed and crawled out of the tent, despite the bandage covering her entire right leg. Prompting herself up, she willed her mind to look towards the sky. Republic fighters - Skull Squadron, no doubt - were streaking over the surface. Back and forth, back and forth, in a mesmerizing pattern. She smiled as she saw a few explosions from the Northwest. A whole battalion, most likely with Jedi, had been saved by a squadron.
The Republic campaign on Mygeeto would survive another day.
"I am glad to meet you here, Master Unduli." It was the Jedi who called the air strike a week ago - visiting their camp! Something about battle plans.
"The pleasure is mine, General," Luminara said. She gestured towards the tent where she had set up a makeshift office and den. "Rhea, stay here with the men."
Rhea nodded and tensed when she heard a boy's voice.
"I hate all of this protocol nonsense."
Rhea swiveled around to face a boy her age with messy brown hair and… a Padawan braid. A lightsaber hung at his side. "Excuse me? What's wrong with protocol?" she asked.
"Ah, nothing much, I mean, sometimes it's useful, but sometimes you have to disobey the rule books," he said with a smirk.
"Hmm," Rhea thought out loud. "You sound like my friend's master. He always likes to act before he speaks."
"Who's your friend?"
"Ahsoka Tano," Rhea said. "Her master is Anakin Skywalker."
The boy looked impressed. "Really? I've heard of him."
"Yeah, he's pretty well-know. A Holonet star, the 'Hero With No Fear'" she joked. "Anyway, I'm General Unduli's Padawan. Rhea Isa."
"You're Luminara Unduli's apprentice?" he asked again with wide eyes. "Well, I'm General Billaba's apprentice. Caleb Dume."
Rhea smiled. "Nice to meet you, Caleb."
"Present to you, the rank of senior Padawan, I do," came the odd voice of Jedi Grandmaster Yoda. "A great achievement in the path of a Jedi, this is, Padawan, and if, use your power for good, you do, a great Jedi you will become."
"Thank you, Master Yoda," Ahsoka formally bowed to the Council as her podium spiraled down.
Anakin was waiting with his arms crossed. "Well?"
A grin broke onto her face. "Here's my new addition," she showed her new beads, "And I'm getting new garments tomorrow."
"Congratulations, Ahsoka!" He put his arm around her shoulders. "Now, how about dweezel smoothies at Dex's?"
"Yes!" she said eagerly.
"I swear, Rhea, if you want to talk to me, don't do it at this time of night."
A hologram flickered to life in Ahsoka's room. "Oh, sorry, 'Soka! I forgot that it's the evening on Coruscant, but I wanted to introduce you to my new friend."
Ahsoka found the will to sit up. "You don't make friends during a battle, Rhea."
"But I did!" the girl smiled. A boy stepped into the frame. "This is Caleb Dume. Caleb, Ahsoka Tano."
"Nice to meet you, Ahsoka," Caleb said.
"Same to you," Ahsoka smiled. "Well, I need some sleep because you always catch me at the wrong time. Nice to meet you, Caleb." She lunged over and ended the transmission. "Good night."
Ahsoka fell asleep that night with dreams - though they seemed so realistic - of a red lightsaber swirling and hitting a man in the face. He screamed in pain and fell to the ground.
When he looked up, his eyes were milky white.
AHHHHHHH! KANAN!
I loved writing this chapter, especially because of some Rebels stuff. Oh, they'll be in here, alright. Just you wait...
Also, I've had a lot of debates with myself about the way this story should have gone. I actually made a version of this a week ago that starts when Ahsoka doesn't leave the Order, but then I trashed it and started this again. So, for you guys, I'll get past all the boring stuff and try as quickly as I can to go to the end of the Clone Wars.
I swear, this isn't an Ahsoka story. It really has to do with a bunch of people. It's also not an OC story. I will get off of Rhea and on to Anakin and Obi-Wan ASAP!
Honestly, I hope you are enjoying the story so far. I keep exciting myself about it.
Don't forget to review and flow; it brightens my day.
