The Temple

===========?===========

Percy Pov:

When Percy reached the temple, a stout, black marble building, he was ready to collapse. His legs burned from walking for a day straight. His eyelids fluttered as he tried to stay awake. He pushed the door open, stumbled inside, and promptly passed out, scythe clattering to the floor.

Percy opened his eyes again and realized he was standing in the junkyard of the gods. He could see Talos swinging his sword, and realized with a start he was back on his quest to find Artemis. He heard Bianca say something next to him and started to run to the statue.

"NO!" Percy shouted, and tried to grab her, but his hands passed through her like mist. He watched in horror as Talos crushed where Bianca was and began punching itself, before falling into the power lines. Percy's vision blurred before he saw Zoe Nightshade and Artemis dueling Atlas. He watched helplessly as Atlas spear nearly bisected Zoe. As she collapsed, his vision blurred again. He was on the Princess Andromeda, Bekendorf reaching for the detonator. As the ship blew up, the scene changed again, to Michael Yew On the Williamsburg bridge in manhattan. The scene changed to Silena in Clarisse's armor, leading the Ares campers into battle, before getting hit with poison. The scenes kept changing, showing every friend that had died by Percy's side. Unable to close his eyes, he watched as his friends were slaughtered in front of him, again and again.

Percy jerked awake to jeers and shouts, dream fresh in his mind. He hated being powerless, especially when it came to his dead friends. He was angry, angry at the gods for taking away months of his life. And most of all, he was angry at monsters. Angry for killing his friends, angry for forcing them to live like hunted animals. He wanted to live a normal life, but couldn't. Because of monsters. He wanted Revenge.

He did a quick scan of the room, showing he was back in the temple in Tartarus. He blinked tears out of his eyes and stood up. He was exactly where he fell asleep. He looked out of the door and saw a crowd of monsters surrounding the temple, at least a hundred, likely more. He reached down and grabbed the scythe, which he decided to name εκδίκηση, or vengeance, which startled a few monsters, and charged into the horde.

He met the monsters in the middle. He swiped vengeance, taking out the first row of monsters like a hot knife through butter. He swung again, cleaving half a dozen monsters. A grin threatened to split his cheeks as he swung again.

3rd Person POV:

A single figure stood against a tide of monsters, wielding a Scythe made of two metals, mortal and immortal. With a single swipe of his scythe, he downed eight monsters. A crazed laugh escaped his mouth as he parted the monsters like Moses did the red sea. Every once in a while, a monster would land a strike on the demigod, drawing red lines of pain, but the figure didn't flinch, just kept slicing. Eventually, a cyclops managed to wrench the scythe out of the son of the seas hands. He just reached into his pocket and uncapped a pen, revealing a gleaming, three-foot-long bronze sword. Before he could deflect, a Dracanae sliced down his face, from his forehead, through his left eye, and ending at his chin. Clutching his face, Percy struck out, killing the Dracanae.

Continuing on his warpath, he killed every monster but the last one, an Empusai. It had a wound on its stomach from his sword.

Percy Pov:

"Where are the Doors of Death," Percy demanded, "Tell me or I will kill you the most painful way possible!" The monster just laughed so Percy grabbed his sword and cut one of its arms off at the shoulder. It shrieked and started slowly turning into dust.

"The Doors!" Percy insisted, "Where are they!" The Empusai pointed with a shaky hand before dusting. Percy went to walk but collapsed, the pain from wounds returning. He was bleeding from a dozen claw, sword, and spear wounds, and the wound on his face damaging that eye. Maybe the temple had some Ambrosia? He thought. He started crawling to the door, hoping against hope that he could get there. The broken glass floor cut his hands as he crawled, adding more blood to the ground. Percy managed to crawl for an hour, only getting half-way to the temple before his arms gave out.

Resigned to his fate, he flipped onto his back and stared into the artificial sky of the pit. He idly noted something falling from the sky as he started to lose consciousness. It slammed into the ground next to him, forcing him to stay awake. It was human-shaped but larger, almost 10 feet tall. It had fizzy, grey hair that reminded him of Einstein. He realized he knew the Titan in front of him.

"Bob?" Percy croaked before finally succumbing to the sweet darkness of unconsciousness.

Meanwhile on the Argo

3rd person Pov:

It was lunchtime. Usually, Leo would be cracking jokes, Frank catching Hazel up on new trends and Technology, Nico hanging out in the shadows, Annabeth making plans with the help of Jason and Percy, and Coach Hedge manning the helm. But it was quiet, almost creepily so. The crew of the Argo II sat at the table, eating in silence. The loss of Percy weighing heavily on all of them, like a fog had descended over the ship.

Suddenly, there was a loud crash on the deck of the Argo, and the Klaxons sounded. An attack! The crew shot out of their seats and rushed to the deck. When they reached topside, they saw a griffin dropping off a Cyclops before daring away. The deck was littered with monsters and Hedge was cornered at the controls. The heroes charged into the fray, weapons out.

After a short skirmish, there was only one monster left, an Empusai. It was fighting Annabeth, who stepped into its guard and knocked it out. She grabbed a length of rope and hogtied it.

"What are you doing?" Jason questioned, "Just kill it." Annabeth glanced up, a gleam in her eyes, "It could have just come from Tartarus, it could have information on Percy!" The crew's eyes widened and they gathered around the monster.

After a few minutes, the monster's eyes fluttered open and regarded the crew. Annabeth glared at it and asked, "Where is Percy! Is he ok?"

"Your boyfriend," The Empusai mocked, "Is in the pit of eternal damnation, he will be dead soon, with all those wounds he had." "When did you see him last?" Annabeth demanded. "Your boyfriend was surrounded by monsters last I saw him, girl, still alive, not that it will matter soon," She commented, "He was covered in wounds last I saw of him." Annabeth looked horrified and stumbled back from the Empusai, muttering, "No, no, no, no, he can't be dead, he cant be."

Jason sliced through the monster, before speaking up, "He's not dead yet, Nico would know if he died, right?" The crew looked at Nico, who seemed paler than normal. Nico nodded, "He's not dead, not yet."

Hedge spoke up, "Alright cupcakes, everyone head back downstairs. Grace, get that cut patched up." Jason, who had not realized he had been cut, frowned at the wound. The crew filled below decks, somehow feeling even worse than before.
