Time setting: VK day already happened. I didn't have anything to change in that scene that would make it any different. This isn't exactly a parody of the movie with just couple scenes, but the plot is going to be twisted a little more.
Also I'm going to write a little different. Its not going to always be in one point of view. There might be one paragraph in Carlos' view, then it'll switch to Evie for a little bit. Just a head's up.
IF YOU HAVEN'T READ MY OTHER STORIES OF DESCENDANTS YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT HALF THE TIME. But if you refuse to, you'll pick up what happened. I just HIGHLY SUGGEST you read them to know everything.
Today was the day Ben was going to propose. He was currently in the prison under the library. It was where they kept the most treasured guest, his sister Rose. Everyone once knew her as the sweet, little princess of Auradon. Now all she is known for is her war on Auradon many months ago, but they didn't know the real story. Rose was a tainted character whose side had never been shown to the public.
She was cursed by the beast gene of her father. Being a rebel, Rose's anger would often trigger her to transform into a wolf-like bear. Belle didn't seek to help Rose's anger, but make it disappear completely. The mother and daughter never had the best relationship. She had locked Ben's little sister away for days and told the young Ben lies of what was happening. In the cell, Rose had calmed down, but she would continue to use her beast powers.
After many years of this torture, Rose attempted suicide. After being ignored by her parents she wanted revenge. She had felt dead inside for weeks. Then one day, Rose had gone too far, and her magic was taken from her. After that, she didn't know what to do. It had felt as if a piece of her had been ripped away. On the day of the anniversary party, Rose declared she didn't even know who she was anymore. Then, she sabotaged the party and got into a fight with her mother once again. This time was different from the rest. Rose gave Belle her tiara and went to the museum. There, she found the enchanted rose that held all of her magic powers. Ben had tried to convince her to stay, but she refused. She then burned down the castle and disappeared. Fairy Godmother had cast a spell of forgetfulness across the kingdom.
Everyone had ever forgotten about Rose, except Ben. He had kept various items of her to keep her memory alive. It wasn't until four years later did she resurface. After Evie had come back to her normal life, she was kidnapped in recruitment by Rose. She then used Evie as a pawn in revenge on Auradon. There were many fights and tears, but in the end, Rose was defeated. She had opened up to Ben restored her trust to him.
Ben wanted to set her free, but knew the public would never come to peace with it. He now stood in front of her. The bags under her eyes made her look so much older than she was. At age sixteen, you wouldn't expect a young princess to be locked away for life, but she was an exception according to their parents. "How do I look?" Ben asked as he adjusted his blue suit.
"Nervous," Rose grinned. "Are you sweating?"
"Is it obvious?" Ben raised his arm to see no stain.
"Well to me," Rose folded her arms. "Its a sibling sense." Ben liked that word. Sibling.
"So you'll be able to watch the broadcast and everything," Ben pointed to the TV planted on the blank wall.
"It'll be good to see the outside world again," Rose looked to her wall of clouds. Ever since she had lost her magic, the wall went back to normal. It only show landscapes now, the way it was intended to. She felt powerless with these new cuffs on her hands. Before, she could at least feel something stir inside her, but now, nothing.
"I think if this VK project works out we can get you back on your feet too," Ben said optimistically.
Rose laughed a little. "Like Belle and Adam will allow that." Ben cringed. He wanted nothing more than his family to get along, and maybe someday it will. "At least you're achieving your dreams. I will always remember the day of the party. You told me you wanted to give those kids a second chance. Now, you're about to propose to one of them. Ironic, isn't it?" Rose looked at the swirling clouds.
"Yes," Ben agreed. He watched his sister closely. There was something different about her. Empty somehow. Her eyes used to be blue, but now they looked grey. He wished he had time to ask, but he should be on his way. "Wish me luck. Your about to get a sister in-law."
"She'll be more like me than the rest of the family," Rose snapped out of her daze and grinned. "I like her spunk."
"I'll be sure to tell her," Ben smiled. "Goodbye, sister."
"Bye, brother." Ben turned away and walked back into the castle. He knew where Mal would be. Evie sent him a text telling him they were ready, all he had to do now was get his future bride.
Mal stood on the watch deck. Her short purple hair was curled into ringlets and were bouncing around in the soft wind. Instead of using her telescope, she used a pair of binoculars. The sea was calm today, but Mal knew Uma was out there. she had promised herself she would find the sea witch no matter what it would take. She had to protect her home, her friends, and Ben.
Suddenly, arms wrapped around her middle. For a moment, she was scared, but she soon realized it was Ben. He let go after she squirmed a little. A smile plastered on her face as she lean into him. Her eyes then looked back at the sea. "Not a tentacle in sight."
Ben looked at her. She had been watching for Uma since she disappeared into the sea. After Rose was brought down, Uma, Gil, and Harry were all going to go back to the Isle, except they had planned an escape. The team managed to catch the boys, but Uma dived into the water. "I think if Uma was up to something we would know by now." He knew she would protest and prepared himself to hear it.
"Ben," Mal shook her head,"No. I know how villains think and I don't trust Uma. As far as I can throw her. When are defenses are down she's gonna strike. I wish I had time for a dragon flight then I could go so much higher." She raised her binoculars back up, but Ben pushed them back down.
"Too bad you can't be everywhere at once," Ben kept the smile on his face. Mal was beginning to wonder why he was extra smiley today. But she knew that he was excited to bring more VKs over. Mal matched his grin. "Besides, the guards got your back." They both looked up to see all of the guards holing telescopes. They were scanning the waters just as Mal had. She trusted them, but she knew they didn't have the same passion as she did. "Everyone's waiting. Let's go."
"You promise you'll get more guards?" Mal asked. Her eyes looked back to the water.
"I promise," Ben held her hands in his. Her gaze went back to his. "Now breathe." They both took a deep breath together, then laughed a little. Mal focused her attention back on Ben. She really had changed in the last year, her love for Ben was so strong. He put his arm around her, and she reciprocated. Together, they walked back into the castle towards the square garden.
In the square garden, Evie paced nervously. The crowds around them chatter among themselves. Cameras were all around them. Belle and Beast stood with Fairy Godmother by the platform stage. Jay stood next to Doug and the marching band. Everyone seemed excited for the occasion, except the blue haired princess. "Where are they?" she mumbled to herself. "They were supposed to be here ten minutes ago. Now we're going to be late for the kids and ugh. Why can't anyone ever be on time?"
"Eves," Carlos called to her. He sat on the stairs with his trusty dog, Dude. She didn't respond to his call. "Eves!" Carlos stood up and took Evie's hands. Her brown eyes looked up into his own. "Breathe. Everything is fine."
"Well I'm just nervous Carlos," Evie shrugged,"Why would they be taking so long?" Carlos thought this was a dumb question. He raised his eyebrows at her. She smack her lips together. "Well I know probably what they're doing, but kissing can wait. Especially when he's going to propose."
"Well in the moment sometimes it can't wait," the white haired boy pulled her in close. He dipped her romantically."Its called love, darling." Evie laughed a little. Their faces leaned into one another's.
"Oh," Evie practically pushed Carlos off her. "Here they come. Jay now!" Jay nodded to Doug and he started up the marching band. The crowd cheered as the guard escorted the waving couple. Mal took Ben's arm as they walked to the music. Evie watched happily to see the two together smiling and waving. Mal had really become a social butterfly in the last year. Evie was proud of her best friend.
Carlos seemed a little disappointed. He always strives to be the romantic Evie wants, but he just had bad timing. He brushed off his white jacket and sighed. Dude sat next to his foot. "Better luck next time buddy," the dog said to him. Carlos rolled his eyes a little and focused his eyes on the couple. Evie looked at him and smiled. He returned it, but hid his downcast.
Mal was about to walk off the stage when Fairy Godmother told her to stay. The daughter of Maleficent was confused by this motion, but obeyed after some questioning. Ben took her hand and the two of them waved to the adoring people. The music began to die off. "Bibbidi-bobbidi! One two! One two!" Fairy Godmother called into the golden microphone. "Can everyone hear me?"
"Yes!" Everyone called to her. Mal looked down to see Carlos, Evie, Jay, and Jane all mixed in the crowd. Fairy Godmother then passed the microphone to Ben. Mal wondered what was going on.
"Thank you," Ben spoke clearly. He stood there for a moment, then smile. "What's up Auradon?!" Everyone cheered loudly. "Thank you all for coming to support our new arrivals. They'll be here very soon." He gestured over to his parents. The smiles on their faces seemed to disappear for a moment. He knew they still didn't approve, but they voted yes, and there was no changing that.
Audrey stood with her grandmother and Chad. She didn't know what was going on, but didn't agree with bringing more kids from the Isle. "Not like we had a choice." Her grandmother muttered as the others clapped. She agreed with her. They should have influence one the villains coming over. Especially after Uma, Evie, and Rose tried to take over Auradon this last year alone. Sure, Audrey did help a little, but she was just being her usual self. She didn't intend to get Evie kidnapped, but she was the one who put her in the jail.
"It worked out pretty well for the first four," Ben continued on.
"Yeah especially for you!" Chad called. Audrey snapped at his face to silence him. She didn't like to be reminded of his betrayal. Otherwise, she would be standing up there on that stage.
Ben turned to Mal and held her hand. "This is the exact spot where we first met. I feel like I've known you my whole life. Did I mention that I love you?" Everyone awed as a guitar began to play. Mal couldn't believe he was signing to her again. This time, she wouldn't be as embarrassed.
As Ben sang his song, Evie looked back to see Doug playing the guitar. She recalled the conflict she had about her future. Was Carlos the one? Doug had wanted her back, and she knew she would never take his offer, but she wondered if Carlos really wanted to spend forever with her. Her gaze transferred to the white haired boy beside her. He was so sweet and so kind. She didn't want to lose him. She stepped closer to him, took his hand, kissed his cheek, and then rested her head on his shoulder.
Carlos' cheeks burned red, but he didn't really care. He loved Evie, and she loved him. That was all that mattered now. He leaned his head against her own, and squeezed her hand.
Ben had finished his song. Now on one knee, he looked up at Mal. "Its you and me. Forever. Mal, will you marry me?" Her opened a velvet box to reveal a ring. She gasped. For a moment, she didn't know what to say. It was such a surprise. "Will you be my queen?"
Those words brought her back into the moment. There was no doubt. "Yes!" Ben got up and slid the ring on her finger. Her hands were shaking as he did this. The purple gem and gold frame shined beautifully in the light. Mal couldn't believe it. She was engaged. Mal grabbed the king's face and pressed her lips against his. Ben dipped her as they passionately kissed in the square garden.
Everyone yelled and hollered in rejoice. Carlos practically picked Evie up when he hugged her. Her nerves had completely gone away from before. Evie watched as Carlos went around. After giving Jay a hug, her gaze returned to her boyfriend. He chest bumped Beast. She couldn't help but laugh as Carlos apologized to the ex king. Evie felt a hand on her shoulder. At first, she assumed it was Fairy Godmother. She had been standing behind her before. Evie automatically turned and embraced her, but when she pulled away, Doug was there.
Evie gasped. Her cheeks burned red as she back away. Doug looked confused too. They both turned away from each other. Evie put on a fake smile to hide her embarrassment. She was just glad Carlos didn't see it. When he returned to her side, she threw her arms around him again. The awkward feelings went away as Carlos held her tightly.
Audrey couldn't believe what she had just witnessed. This had been an extra stab in the back. She and Ben had dated for years. Then, only after a year of being together, Ben proposes to the Isle girl. "A lifetime of plans," her grandmother folded her arms,"gone. Our family status, gone." She turned her cold eyes to Audrey. Audrey was hoping that she wouldn't get shamed too much, but of course she would get the usual rounds of guilt.
"Audrey," she shook her head. "You're supposed to be his queen and you let him slip from your fingers. Your mother could hold onto a prince in her sleep." Audrey had enough of this.
"Don't you think I already feel bad enough Grammie?" Audrey said in a harsh tone. She heard others around her talk about Ben and Mal. This had put her over the edge. "You'd really rather have a VK on the throne than me?!" The girls behind her stared blankly. It was as if she didn't exists anymore. She used to have all the power and respect she could ever desire. Now, she had nothing. "What is wrong with you people?" She looked back up at the screen to see Mal and Ben. It had seemed everyone forgot where they came from. "What is wrong with everybody?"
Ben walked off the stage to see the boys. Carlos, Jay, and even Doug put their arms around each other. The king didn't mind Doug still being his friend. He thought about what just happened. He did it. He proposed. She said yes. His brain was spinning a little. The nerves continued to tingle now. Carlos and Jay cheered and patted his back. Ben was in a slight shock when he said,"I'm engaged, man."
Mal ran into Evie's arms. "Did you know?"
"Everything!" Evie smiled. She was so happy she didn't have to keep it a secret any longer. "You don't know how hard it was to talk about your wedding dress to two guys, a dog, and a cat! Oh I've done about a thousand sketches of your wedding dress. You are going to rock that crown. But guess what?! Belle's already planned an engagement party for next week!"
Mal still couldn't wrap her mind around everything. "Then it's a good thing I said yes!" Her eyes gazed to the smiling Belle and Beast. She along with Ben, had decided to forgive them. She knew they were trying to change their ways for Ben. It meant a lot to him, so it meant a lot to her.
"Hugs!" Adam smiled as she walked over to him. Mal laughed a little and moved onto Belle. Her smile was the biggest she had ever seen.
As they hugged Belle spoke to her. "I'm finally going to have a daughter!" Mal was shocked by her words. She was finally going to have a daughter? It was as if Rose never was born. If Ben had heard what she said he would be heart broken. Before, Mal thought the family would never make up, but they did. Now, Belle won't even acknowledge her actual daughter. Mal would be the pretty princess Belle had forced her Rose to be.
She watched as Ben embraced his parents. "Aw I love you two together!" Belle said sweetly. Ben smiled gratefully, but Mal could only manage a fake grin. She would not tell Ben what she had heard. Her eyes gazed over to a happy Fairy Godmother. She hugged her old head mistress.
"I'm so happy for you both," she said as Mal back away under Ben's arm. She then looked at her ring a sighed it was so beautiful
"Thank you so much Fairy Godmother," Ben said calmly. "I think she liked it."
"Bippiti Boppity you betcha," she whispered and winked. The couple laughed as they turned to see Jay. Behind him, Evie and Carlos stood together.
"All bow to your royal majesty!" Jay threw out his arms.
"Ah yes!" Carlos came around on Jay's left. "Her royal purpleness!" The three of them bowed and laughed.
"Silence you annoying peasants," Mal waved them off in a snobby voice. She then walked off swaying her hips.
"As you wish my liege!" Jay called after her.
"Your crankiness," Carlos pulled Evie in by the waist as she punched him in the arm. He knew it was a little much, but her red lips curved into a smile.
Mal looked back at her friends as someone grabbed her wrist. Her game playing had come to an end was her eyes darted to see Audrey's face. "Congratulations," she said without passion. Her face looked annoyed as she continued to speak. Mal couldn't help but keep a smile on her face. It was starting to hurt her cheeks, but she didn't mind that much. "You won him fair and square."
The daughter of Maleficent's smile morphed into a soft grin. She had to keep calm around Audrey. "Oh wait," Audrey tilted her head. "No you didn't. You spelled Ben to destroy all of Auradon. Touching story for the grand kids." Mal's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe Audrey would do this right here, right now, while all these people were celebrating.
"Okay!" Ben called, but Mal didn't move her gaze. "Let's do this." That's when Mal remembered the whole point of this day. The kids on the Isle were expecting them.
"Speaking of kids," she snapped back in the conversation. "We have some kids waiting on us so..." There was an awkward silence. She glanced down at her toes before looking back up at the blonde haired girl with pink and blue highlights. "If you'll excuse me." Mal said before she walked away. Her happy feelings were tinged confusion and a little anger.
The purple limo drove up the road. Everyone cheered as Jay took his place into the drivers seat. Carlos took Evie's hand and helped her in before getting in himself. Mal slid into the back seat before Ben approached the door. He waved to the crowd one last time. A couple girls screamed before her climbed in next Mal. He took her hand and brushed his finger over her new ring. Mal felt her cheeks getting pink. Her green eyes flickered up to Evie and Carlos, who were already close to one another.
"We ready?" Jay asked from the front. Everyone nodded and Jay started up the engine. As they drove, Mal looked out the window at the sea. This time she wasn't thinking about Uma and her revenge, she thought about the four kids. It wasn't a dream anymore. This was real. They were really getting them off the Isle.
