Rays of hope

Chapter ten

This was the last straw for Amanda and her husband with his lies. She finally has the nerve to finally go through with it and the divorce papers. Her lawyer Robert Walker of Washington, D.C. had sent her the papers having discussed the different options and funds on how much it was going to cost her.

She didn't wish to hear anymore. Since Lee Jr. was in school. She had gotten dressed to bring the signed papers to the lawyer's office. She had dressed quickly after talking to Francine on the phone. She knew that Francine had been lying to some point and she was just sick and tire of everyone trying to protect her.

Making sure that all of the doors of the house were locked. She headed out into the green station wagon that she had purchased on her own as a trade-in to the last one in order to get around.

She was going through the divorce with having to be strong mentally wise in order to make the decision on her own without anyone getting into the way.

Far too long she had been weak with not having her own mind over the years. Even her own mother tried it with trying to control her in every way.

Moving into the front seat of her vehicle. She moved off with a lone vehicle on the road parked was watching her taking off towards the lawyer's office only ten minutes away. She didn't notice the vehicle while she was driving on the road until she reaches the offices.

She had parked her car inside the underground parking before taking the elevator up to the eighth floor of the office building.

Her lawyer is going to be pleased after waiting for two months for her to sign them. He had been working in his office on another divorce case when his secretary had called him from the outer office that Amanda Stetson had arrived.

Amanda walked inside to hand the damn papers into his hands. "So how do you feel now having signed them Amanda?" He said to her with his salt & pepper hair falling down over his eyes.

"Pissed off at me that my husband had been lying to me all of these years. Since I am much stronger now I want these processed as quickly as possible?" she cried out...

"I will as soon as I talk with the judge and go from there Amanda. Have you told your son Lee Jr.?" he needed to know the answer to the importance of the question.

"Not yet! but he does sense something is wrong since his father hasn't been around for two months. He goes to school every day but comes home crying with his friends at school teasing him about his father.

"Do you your partial payment like you said over the phone?" he asked for the most part needing to be paid for services rendered.

"I have it Mr. Walker." she pulled out the $1000 bills consisting of $100 dollar bills having been checked.

"Very well I will make out the receipt as part of your copy with paying the final payment for services rendered for the divorce."

"Thank you." she hands him the envelopes for which he takes and takes out the receipt book in order to fill it out with her payment. "Please let me know when the divorce is final," she said with stopping to pick up Chinese food for herself back at the house.

She knew what was right with Lee having lied to her too many times. She was going to have to pack his things until he comes back to pick them up. Everything in the house was hers with nothing of his except for their son Lee Jr. But she wasn't going to give him any custody rights.

She needed to call Billy to let him know that she had gone through with signing the papers. He was upset at first when she had mentioned it to him. He was trying to talk her out of it by talking to a lawyer. This was a little over six weeks.

Stopping off to buy the Chinese food. She headed on home with moving into the driveway to park the car and move inside with Lee Jr. to be home in a little over an hour. Enough of time for her to eat and make that call.

Billy Melrose had been coming back from a meeting with the department heads. When his phone began to ring in the office as he sees the caller I.D. to be Amanda.

Sitting down in his brown chair with dropping his briefcase on the side of the table. "Amanda how are you?" he said to her with a sense of sadness with his body language.

"Not good Billy. I signed the divorce papers and brought them to the lawyer's office," she said.

"I am truly sorry to hear that Amanda. Even though now we know what Lee has been up to during the past two months." he will say to her over the phone.

"However Billy how you see it. Lee still lied to me nevertheless. If and when he gets back. He's going to be having his freedom finally. Since he's never been a man that would settle down with one woman. It's no wonder Francine was heartbroken every single time?" she cried out with spilling her guts with emotion.

"I assume so Amanda. However now you need to be strong now once we find out what is next with Syria and what the military will be doing with stopping them from overrunning the military base, Lawrence," he responded with his emotions trying to stay in check.

"I don't wish to know any further Billy. I have to go now to go pick up Lee Jr. at the bus stop." She hangs up the phone on him to head out to pick up her son.

Meanwhile, Billy had an agent that had been tailing Amanda came in with a report.
