Rays of Hope
Chapter 17th
"Good luck with your endeavor in finding the truth about yourself and your life with your wife Amanda and son Lee Jr." Doctor Swanson needed to say to his friend with heading back to work with an hour to go with his shift.
"Thanks," Lee said with heading out of the lab to head for a diner to have breakfast having to be starved with the rumbling of his stomach.
Moving out of the underground parking lot of IFF. He needed to be sure that he wasn't going to be tailed. Driving out into the highway heading for the local diner a mile away from IFF.
Meanwhile, his cell-phone was going off once again and this time it was a bit of a huge surprise. He stopped his vehicle on the side curve for now in order to talk with Amanda.
Taking a large gulp with his throat along with a deep breath. "Amanda I am really surprised you're calling me?"
"I need to talk with you at the house so that we can discuss you," she said to him with a tone that was differently somewhat cold.
"Why don't you meet me at the diner instead Amanda? I am going to be there in a few moments. Is your mother there at all?" he asked with annoyance in his demeanor.
"She is here to watch Lee Jr. for a few hours. I will be there in twenty minutes," she replied with hanging up the phone to turn and face her mother.
"Don't even say it, Amanda? just go and find out what is going on with him. Maybe you're going to find out further just what are the hell is going on?" Dottie needed to say to her daughter.
"Mother please I will be back as soon as possible once I am done talking with Lee." she quipped and signed at the same time.
When she left the house and had gotten into her vehicle. She needed to be careful due to the pregnancy. Billy had told her the complete truth about the undercover operation. Now to find out that Doctor Sarah Goodman for IFF was paid off to drug her husband in the first place. Even though the title husband is now ex for the most part with the judge granting the divorce.
She continued to check for any tails like always while heading for the diner. She needed to listen to what he's going to be saying to her. Even though most of the pieces had been put together. Too many of Lee's friends for IFF and his sources had been compromised.
When she reached the diner she was able to see Lee sitting at a booth inside with the restaurant slow right now. While she had been having butterflies in her stomach.
She parked her car into a spot with making sure she was going to stay calm for the most part,
Moving inside she headed for Lee's booth. He was drinking black coffee while waiting for his food. "Amanda." please sit down. Are you interested in something to drink?" he said with letting her sit down across from him.
"I will have something to drink and eat. You're looking better Lee from the reports I had received." she sighed with her words.
"If you mean the drugs that were in the water? I do feel better once Doctor Swanson was able to counteract the poison.
"You're really had it rough Lee once you were in Syria and now back here in the states?" she said with the waitress to bring on over Lee's refill of the coffee and Amanda asking for a large diet cola.
"You can say that Amanda? However, I wanted to talk with you on whether or not you have any feelings left for me?" he cried out with touching her hand with pulling it back for now.
"I really don't know how I feel Lee. You do know about the divorce and the custody of Lee Jr.?" she had to say to him dejected.
"I know about the divorce and the rest of all of it as well Amanda. I am truly sorry for all of the pain I had caused you?" he exclaimed with their food being brought over while they stayed quiet.
Sometime later with Amanda leaving money for him on the food and soda. She was getting up from the table when he said...
"I love you, Amanda please believe this? I never wanted to end our marriage with wanting to head on over to Syria for the deep cover operation. Please stay in contact with Amanda if and when you do have the baby. I want to be there for you." he cried with emotion.
"I think it's best that you're not there for the delivery Lee. I wish to break all ties with you except for Lee Jr. and this boy as well. You have hurt me too much Lee by going against my wishes for when we had talked about the different operations." she moved out of the diner as Lee stay there for now before looking for a place to stay.
SOMETIMES LATER AT THE CAMELOT MOTEL
Lee Stetson was able to find a place to stay some 15 minutes away from IFF. Even though he was going to take some time for a vacation.
He walked into the suite paying for today and tomorrow before taking a flight back to Syria to search for those having done this to him.
Falling back onto the queen size bed after taking off his jacket and the rest of his clothes before dropping down in the buff and falling asleep.
Meanwhile, Amanda Stetson arrived back at her house with her mother working in the back yard picking flowers for the house. She looked up to see her daughter looking dejected.
"How did it go, Amanda?" she asks.
