It has been 3 years since Callie left for New York with Penny, and out of the blue Arizona receives a text message from Callie, inviting her to come visit with her and Sophia. Arizona was quite surprised, but before she could say yes, she inquired if it would be okay with Penny. Callie responds "don't worry about that." Now Arizona was even more curious, she agrees to fly out the next day.
As Arizona's plane lands, Callie is waiting with Sophia near the baggage claim. Arizona sees them, and instantly smiles. If there are two people in this world who can always bring a smile to her face, it's Sophia and Callie. Before she grabs her luggage, Arizona hugs them both. It has been two months since she has seen Sophia, it is part of the agreement her and Callie made when Callie left for New York. It is harder on both of them and Sophia, but it's the only way they can split the time while they work in two different places. Callie says "alright, let's head home." Arizona was a little puzzled when Callie said home.
On the drive to Callie's house Arizona asks about Penny, but Callie simply responds with "you don't need to worry about her." Something happened, and Callie is either not going to tell me, or won't talk about it in front of Sophia. Arizona sits back, and doesn't push the topic anymore.
As they approach Callie's house, Arizona is in awe of how gorgeous it is. Big wrap around porch you could sit on for hours, and bay windows. Needless to say, Arizona was in love with the house.
Everyone was settling in nicely, but there was still the Penny issue that was eating at Arizona, so she quietly asked Callie again while Sophia was in her room. Callie tells Arizona that her and Penny split up, they split up within the year they moved out here. Arizona was legitimately shocked and sad for Callie, everything was going well, or at least that's what she thought. Callie explains that her work schedule and Penny's was too much for both of them to handle. Penny was barely home, and when she was, it was only to sleep. There was no time to be intimate, or even cuddle and watch a movie. It go to the point of them constantly arguing and inevitably splitting. Arizona shook her head and said she was sorry to hear, but she questioned why she was invited out here now, especially after all this time. Callie looked at Arizona for solid minute before answering "I invited you out here because I wanted to talk to about something." Arizona looks at Callie and responds "couldn't you have just asked me over the phone?" Callie looks down shyly, and says "no, I wanted to talk about us." Now Arizona was confused, and asks "what about us?" Callie moves over to the kitchen table and sits down, she invites Arizona to have a seat as well. Callie twirls her fingers and ponders how she will say what she needs to say, but she is frustrated with herself because usually she never has an issue with saying whats on her mind. Sitting here with the love of her life, knowing they aren't together is killing her. Arizona is sitting waiting patiently, but the suspense is eating away at her. Callie looks at Arizona and says "I miss you so much, and I hate not having you around. You are my love, and I don't want anyone else." Arizona wasn't sure how to respond, she took a minute to register everything that was just said. As Arizona stood up, Callie slowly looked up at her, she was worried her love was going to take off back to Seattle before she could get a response, if she was even going to receive one. If Arizona was feeling anything right now, it wasn't anger or annoyance, she was over moon. She has missed Callie ever since that last therapy session. Arizona looks at Callie and says "I have never stopped wanting you." Both of them embrace each other with a solid, but soft kiss, neither one of them have forgotten what they each felt like, but by God they missed it.
It has been a long day, all three of them head to bed early. Callie and Arizona lay down and hold each other, everything was as it should be. Before they turned off the light, Callie asks Arizona what she would like to do tomorrow, Arizona responds simply with "it doesn't matter, as long as it's with you."
