Aizawa was standing in the door and watched the pair quietly. The other students were chased away by Katsuki and the teacher was therefore alone.
After the whole thing Aizawa just witnessed, many questions flew through his head. However the most conspicuous was the question, how traumatized his Problem Child must be. How in the world could the boy still smile every day?
The teacher made a mental note to bring the Problem Child to a psychiatrist as soon as possible.
Meanwhile the girl runs her fingers through Deku's green locks and thought about, what just happened.
He must have had a nightmare or something like that and when he woke up he was scared because she wasn't there. Ochako felt guilty. If she just had stayed with him, then this wouldn't happened! Deku wouldn't have had the third panic attack in just a few hours. Maybe he even wouldn't have had the nightmare at all.
His whole life he was alone and feared. He thought that she was scared of him and that she had left him. Her poor Deku. She shouldn't have let him alone. She shouldn't ha-
She shook her head. No. It wouldn't change anything to feel guilty now. She just had to make sure not to make the same mistake again.
She looked around and inspected the damage of the room. The desk was broken in half and one of the halves laid on the other side of the room. The bed was pushed into the closet. The door of his room was lying at the other side of the hallway. The windows were completely shattered.
Ochako came to the conclusion that Deku couldn't stay in this room now.
"I will take Deku to my room and let him sleep there, if that's okay?" She asked after she turned around to her teacher, but Aizawa could clearly see that it wasn't really a question.
He sighed. Normally he wouldn't allow this but under these circumstances this proposal was probably the best solution.
"Okay. I'll leave him in your care then. But please make sure there wont be a repeat of this."
Ochako nodded. Then she looked worried on Deku to make sure he was really sleeping, before she activated her quirk on him and made him weightless.
She slowly stood up while he floated in front of her and took his hand to pull him with her.
An idea stopped her and she looked around to see Deku's phone on the floor behind him. Maybe it's still working? She let go of Izuku's hand and picked the phone up. Hah! It's still working! But how in the world...?
She shook her head again and put the phone in her pocket. She could think about that later. Now she had to make sure Deku was fine.
She turned around, took his hand again and then began to walk out of the room. Aizawa steps out of the way and Ochako carefully pulled Deku past the teacher, which observed them with an unreadable look on his face. Silently the two of them walked to the elevator and Ochako maneuvered the sleeping boy inside before the doors closed.
On the way to the girl's room they luckily met none of their classmates which calmed Ochako a bit.
When they arrived she opened the door and went inside. Ochako shivered. It was a little cold in her room because she had left the air conditioning turned on. So, she stopped at the door and turned the heating on, before she went straight to her bed.
She took the sheets off the bed, pulled Deku above it and then pushed him carefully down. She released her quirk and covered him with a soft blanket. Normally she would probably be embarrassed, that her crush was sleeping in her bed but right now she was just glad that she could stay with him and care for him.
After that she waited for a little moment, to make sure he was still sleeping and when nothing happened she sighed in relief.
The brunette sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at Izuku. He had dried tear streaks on his cheeks, his eyes where red and puffy from crying and had dark circles under them and his lower lip was bleeding a little bit. Apparently he had bitten down on it so hard that blood came out. Astonishingly the bandages on his arms were still in place. A little disheveled maybe, but it would do for now. Aside from that he seemed physically fine and Ochako could relax a little bit.
She turned around to her teacher, who was still standing in the door, watching them quietly, and she could have sworn she saw a nearly unnoticeable, really small smile but as soon as she blinked it vanished.
"Okay, what's the plan for now?" Aizawa asked her and Ochako hummed. She thought for a moment and then answered.
"For now I will let him sleep. He must me exhausted. But I'm going to wake him up for dinner. He has to eat something to gin strength back."
Aizawa nodded. "I will tell one of your classmates to bring something eatable for you. By the way. What should I tell the class?"
"Deku has to decide what exactly he want's the other's to know. For now just tell them that they shouldn't ask him questions and that I will talk to him and ask him, if he wants them to know everything." She said, took Izuku's hand and kindly ran her thumb over his scarred knuckles.
"Okay. I will give you both off tomorrow to rest. Stay with him please and make sure that he won't be getting another panic attack. And if he does call me. I wanted to stay up the night anyway. I still have tests to grade."
Ochako knew that this was a lie. She also knew that Aizawa knew that she knew that this was a lie. But neither of them said anything about it.
The teacher leaved shortly after and soon Ochako was alone with Deku. For a few moments she just sat there, with her eyes on the boy. Today's happenings definitely pulled a toll on her. She sighed, put her elbows on her knees and rested her face in her hands. After a few moments something near her shifted and she looked up to see Deku turning around with a scrunched face. He mumbled something and she could barely understand her.
"O...Ocha..ko..." He said and the girl's heart squeezed. She took his hand again to reassure him that he wasn't alone. It soon helped and his face became relaxed again.
Suddenly her phone dinged which startled her. She remembered that she still had Deku's phone and fished it out of her pocket to put it on the nightstand. Then she took out hers and looked at the screen.
23 unread messages
Ochako sighed. Well, at least she knew their classmates where worried for them.
Pikapika: kay what the actual fck is happenin' up there?! The building is shakin!?
Rollingstone: it was so crazy dude! midobro went total rampage!
E.T.: yeah he was screamin and his whole room just blew up and things were flying around and everything was shakin
candycane: his quirk was always strange but that looked like multiple quirks
Ochako thinks about what she should write them. She decides to write a short text to calm the class down a little but she would not tell them anything specifically.
spaceshuttle: Hey guys, Deku is physically fine. Mentally he is... well not fine. But don't worry too much. As of what you have seen in his room before. I wont tell you what exactly happened. Deku has to decide to tell you. I will only tell you, that Deku is really scared. He is scared that we will hate him and shun him. I know why he thinks that and I don't believe there is reason for anyone of us to treat him differently. But. If anyone of you betray the trust Deku has in you and himself I will throw you into the stratosphere. Deku is sleeping now and we both wont be at school tomorrow. As I said. Don't worry too much.
She reads the message again, to make sure she wont tell them something specific and then pressed the send button. After the message was out, she put her phone down and looks at Deku again. He was still sleeping so she decided to distract herself a bit.
As she looked around to find something productive she could do and noticed hers and Deku's schoolbags in the corner of her room at her desk. One of their classmates must have brought them here. Her tipp was Yaomomo.
Well, if her school supplies were here, she could do some of their homework. They still had that English essay to write and she couldn't just sit around and do nothing.
She stood up, walked over to the desk and sat down in the chair. She bend down and fished her things out of her bag and then started working.
The only you could hear was the soft snoring of Deku and the scratching of Ochakos pen but then she suddenly heard a knock on her door. She jumped and the pen made a line across the sheet. She turned around and looked a t the clock. Wow. Nearly an hour had passed. She was actually surprised that she could concentrate.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a second knock on her door and she stood up to open it.
Tenya was standing in the hallway with two full plates of Katsudon and a soft smile on his face.
"Hey Tenya." She said and smiled at him.
"Hey. Aizawa said I should bring you something to eat and well... Bakugou made this. He said it's the recipe of Izukus mum, but if you tell him that he cooked it- Well, then he said many inappropriate words which I don't want to repeat." The class rep said with a chuckle and held the food out to the girl.
Ochako laughed and received the plates. She always knew that Katsuki cared more for any of them, especially Deku, then he would ever admit.
"How is Izuku?" The boy in front of her asked with a worried look.
Ochako thought for a moment and then answered. "As good as he can be I suppose. Thankfully he's sleeping right now. You can come in for a moment and see him, but please be quiet."
Tenya nodded. Ochako turned around and put the two plates on her desk before walking to the bed to sit down at the edge again.
Iida stood at the side of the bed and looked at Deku and the girl could clearly see his shoulders relax a bit. Actually seeing that Deku was okay was still something else then just hear it.
For a short moment both of them just watched the sleeping boy and then Tenya sighed.
"Will he be okay? I don't know what he told you, but it clearly was very hard for him to do so and he must have great trauma. So... will he be okay?" He asked.
"I hope so. I wont tell you what exactly he told me but... I think trauma is a underestimation of what he went through and he definitely needs all the support we can give him. I will make sure to do everything I can to help him feel better."
Tenya nods and and reassured Ochako. "I will do the same. I can clearly see that he didn't have many friends before U.A. if he even had any, and I want to show him that he's not alone anymore."
Ochako smiled at him gratefully. She was so glad that Deku had friends now, who were there for him, supporting him.
The boy with glasses leaved shortly after and she was alone with Izuku again. She decided to wake him up before the food was getting cold, but she still hesitated. What if he panicked again and hurt himself?
Ochako shook her head. Well, he had to wake up sometime so she figured it wouldn't really matter when exactly.
She took a deep breath and carefully placed a hand on Dekus shoulder, to shake him a little bit. "Deku? It's dinnertime. The others made katsudon for you." She said softly. Her soft tone didn't help much, because he suddenly opened his eyes, unfocused and in panic and skidded away from her hand.
"Hey it's okay Izuku. It's just me. Ochako. Nobody is here. We're alone, it's okay." She said to calm him down and she released a breath, she hadn't noticed holding in, as she saw his eyes slowly focusing and recognizing her.
"O – Ochako?" He whispered as if he couldn't believe she was still with him. Well, that was most likely the case. But he needed to know that this is not true. And she was damn sure she would do everything in her power to make sure he got self-confidence again.
"Yeah, it's me. I wont leave again Izuku." She said, softly smiling.
For a short moment he just stared at her as if she had grown a second head, but then his eyes got glassy again and he sniffed. He lowered his face, rubbed the tears with the back of his hand away and looked up to her again. She was surprised by the, barely there, very small, smile on his lips and her heart fluttered a little.
"I... I can't really... understand... why you're still here... but... t-thank you... Ochako..." He said, the tears coming back to his eyes and the smile grew a little.
She hugged him again and stroked over the back of his head, while laying her chin on his shoulder.
After a few minutes the two parted and he looked around. Looks like he hadn't noticed where he was. He returned his gaze to her and before he could ask, she answered his unsaid question.
"I brought you to my room 'cause yours is destroyed and I wanted to make sure you could rest."
"Oh... um... thanks..." He whispered and looked won on his lap. She noticed that he was still very tense. His shoulders were raised a bit and he nervously played with his fingers. A nervous habit she has seen many times on him before.
She decided to change the topic and stood up slowly. He got even tenser and his breathing quickened a bit but before he could panic again she explained what she was doing.
"Relax Izuku, I'm just getting our food. The others cooked katsudon for you and you really need to eat something."
He looked at her, clearly suspicious, but nodded after a few moments. She could feel his gaze on her as he carefully observed every move she made and she made sure to not make any harsh movements. Ochako took the plates and returned to the bed.
She sat down and handed one of the plates to Deku, who looked hesitant.
"I... I'm not sure... if... if I can... keep it down..." He said.
"Please try Izuku. You need to eat something. You haven't eaten anything today. And yes I noticed, you don't have to look at me like that." She said and shoved the plate in his hands with a smile.
He looked down at the plate, then up to her. He seemed to think for a moment and then slowly nodded. With a shaking hand he tried to use the chopsticks but they fell out of his hand every time. Fortunately Tenya had thought of putting forks on the plates too. So, Ochako handed the green-haired boy a fork who accepted the offer gratefully.
He slowly, very slowly, began to eat a little bit and the girl could literally see his tension melt away more with every bite. She held her gaze on Deku and began to eat her own plate. Wow. It was really great. She hadn't expected Katsuki to be such a great cook but today she noticed, that the blond boy was full of secrets too.
After a few minutes both plates were empty and Ochako stood up again to put the dirty dishes on her table. As she was turning around again she looked at the empty bed and found Deku quietly walking towards the door.
"Izuku? Where are you going?" She asked and tried to not sound hurt. He stopped walking but didn't turn around as he answered with an emotionless voice.
"I have burdened you enough already. I really appreciate your hospitality, but you don't have to pretend anymore. Everyone was scared of me, as soon as they found out about my quirk, why should it be different now?" He said and started walking to the door again but before he could reach it, his wrist was snapped in a strong hold and he began to float up a little bit as he got weightless. He turned his head to look at Ochako and was surprised to find her with an angry expression and tears in her eyes. He wanted to apologize, for what ever he had done to hurt her but she was faster.
"No Izuku. You. Are. Not. A. Burden. I'm not pretending shit. I'm not and never will be scared of you. Your quirk means nothing to me, because I care about you. You. Not your fucking quirk. It's okay if you don't believe yourself but please, believe in me. I would never lie to you and I want you to be here. I'm happy you're here and you're going to stay here with me tonight." She said as her anger slowly faded and morphed into sadness.
He stared at her as if she would be the craziest human alive and after a few moments he asked. "Um... are... are you sure you... didn't hit your head or something?"
Yeah. Right. Because THIS had to be the most likely possible solution. He had internalized the thoughts of him being a monster so much, that he simply couldn't believe that somebody wouldn't think of him as one. He practically had no self-esteem and major trust issues because of the bullying in his past. She made a mental note to punch everyone who hurt Deku. Katsuki included. She pulled him in her arms again and he relaxed a little bit again.
"No. I haven't hit my head. You may believe you are a burden but I'm gonna tell you the opposite until you believe me one day. I want you to stay here because I care for you and you are not a monster and I wont judge you, just because of a quirk. Which by the way is not at all a monster's quirk." She said and to underline her point, she pulled the floating boy back to the bed, pushed him above it, released her quirk and with a "uff" he fell back on the mattress. He looked up to her and wanted to contradict but she was faster again.
"I'm not gonna leave you and you will never, ever be burden. I'm glad that you are here with me and I want you to stay with me."
His eyes got glassy and he lowered his face to look at his lap again. "B-But... But... He... He will search for me... and then... then everyone... who I... who I love will... will be hurt because... of me..."
What? He was clearly talking about the villain from before, but why should this villain search for him? It occurred her that she still not really knew what happened at the death of his mother but she wouldn't ask now. She could talk with him about that later.
"I will keep you safe Izuku. I wont let anyone hurt you or someone else. And we're her at the possibly safest place in whole japan, he cant hurt you here." He snorted at her last sentence and she raised a brow in question.
"Hah... Sorry, it's just... Kacchan said the exact same thing this morning..." He said with a smile. She chuckled and sat down on the bed. The two of them just smiled at each other for a short while and as they noticed it, both blushed and looked away. She cleared her throat and tried to change the topic.
"Aizawa gave us both off tomorrow, so we could rest. So we can sleep long tomorrow. Do you want to watch a movie or something?"
"Um... okay... yeah we can do that..." He said and smiled at her again. She had seen him smile quite often but only now she realized that his daily smile wasn't really a true smile. This one was.
She nodded and stood up to get the laptop from the table. While her back was shown to him she tried to control her blush and as she wasn't as red anymore she returned to the bed. He stood up to let her sit on the wall side of the bed and then sat down beside her.
They discussed a bit what they should watch and after a while they agreed on the Disney movie "Moana" as both of them just wanted to watch something with a happy end.
At first they both were a bit tensed but after 10 minutes hey relaxed and halfway through the movie they were cuddling with each other. As they slowly came to the end of the movie Izuku was snoring softly with his head on her chest. She smiled at him and gave him a quick kiss to his temple, before she closed the laptop, put it away and then cuddled closer to Izuku.
"Good night, Izuku." She said and gave him a kiss to the forehead.
Right. Everything will be okay. With a smile on her lips, she drifted off to sleep.
