"Hey, Mason?" J.T. called out, waving enthusiastically at the green ranger, who was over by the shack on the other end of the cafeteria, "Have you seen Frank?"
Mason rolled his eyes, weaving his way through the crowd before plopping down next to his friend, "No," he insisted, "I haven't, he's your roommate, not mine."
"Oh, so you know where Mark is then?" J.T. asked wiggling his eyebrows.
"It's Saturday, Mark and Sara took the early morning bus into town for breakfast."
"Is it wise for them to leave like that?" J.T. asked, "I mean what if a monster attacks?"
"We still have us and Frank and Melody, wherever they are, and Ms. Johnson, and if things get really bad we have my uncle."
"Look," J.T. protested, "I'm not saying something bad is going to happen, I'm just saying, look around, we're the only rangers in the cafeteria, at peek hour too."
.… The Enchanted Forest….
Morgana peered into her crystal ball, interesting, those foolish rangers were pairing up and splitting apart. She could easily take them out now, two at a time, but first she needed to take care of the meddlesome Purple ranger, and she didn't seem to be at the school that day.
"This is perfect," she cackled, "Those pathetic rangers have fallen in love with each other, it's disgustingly cute. They'll be so distracted by their own lovey-dovey feelings for each other they won't notice my attack until it's too late. Amber Mutant, this is up to you, find the purple ranger and take care of her, Then attack the school."
There was a loud clicking noise, as a large spider scrambled up to Morgana, blinking its eight amber eyes, before scrambling away.
...The Cafeteria…
"I don't think that Frank and Melody are eating here," Mason announced as he watched the lunch ladies start to clean up the breakfast buffet.
"But where could they be?" J.T. muttered, "I mean you would think Frank would tell me if he had plans for this morning."
"Would you have listened if he did?" Mason asked.
J.T. sighed, sweeping a hand through his braids, "Probably not, I mean he probably said something when Melody showed up at the door to our dorm and they left together, but I wasn't paying attention."
"Melody and Frank left together?" Mason questioned, feeling his one eye twitched, he wondered if it was flashing green like his uncle sometimes does when he was truly ignored, "They probably went on a double date with Mark and Sara. Why didn't you mentioned something."
"So what they went out on an early morning date, no big deal."
"Yes big deal, J.T.," Mason snapped, grabbing the black ranger by the shoulders, "Frank, Melody, Mark, and Sara are all off-campus, together, that leaves us and Ms. Johnson to defend the school."
J.T. snorted, "And you complain that I don't pay attention to anything, Ms. Johnson isn't here today, it's her Saturday off, remember the teachers take turns doing night duty and weekend duty at the school. She's probably at her home in town."
"You mean to tell me that we are the only power rangers on campus?" Mason insisted, his eyes twitching sharply, "Why didn't you say something earlier!"
"Does it matter that much that we are the only ones here, I mean, your Uncle is living on compass too, so..."
"We better hope that there isn't a monster attack until the others get back," Mason muttered.
"Let's hope your uncle isn't here to tell us bad news," J.T. added, pointing to the doors of the cafeteria, where Tommy Oliver was scanning the room.
Tommy Oliver locked eyes with Mason and J.T. before rushing over to them, "Something is terribly wrong," he insisted, "Tammy was supposed to meet me at the Encampment but she hasn't shown up yet."
"Maybe she's running late," Mason said, "you do that often enough."
"She's not answering her phone," Tommy insisted.
"Maybe she stood you up," J.T. insisted, "have you ever considered that?"
"It wasn't a date, J.T. we were going over strategy, with Morgana possessing Kimberly, I'm the best person to know how to defeat her because I know how Kimberly fights."
"But you haven't seen Kimberly in over a decade," Mason pointed out, "You didn't even know that she died."
"And I still don't believe that," Tommy insisted, "When you hang around power rangers and the morphing grid and see as many monsters and magic as I have you learn when things don't make sense."
"And Ms. Johnson being late to your meeting is one of those things that don't make sense?" J.T. asked.
"Exactly," Tommy said, "Now where are the others."
"Gone," Mason sighed, "They went on a double date."
Tommy chuckled, "Well, they're about to learn the drawbacks of dating while active, the three of us are going to head over to Tammy's house."
...Tammy Johnson's house…
J.T. stared out the window at the house in front of him, it looked like a normal townhome, small, probably only two bedrooms, judging by the size of it, but for a single woman that was probably all the house she wanted or possibly needed.
"The doors open," Tommy muttered, pointing at the door which hung haphazardly by one hinge, "Something forced its way into the house."
"Ms. Johnson might be in real trouble," J.T. shouted as he jumped out of the jeep at the same time as Mason and Dr. O climbed out.
They rushed into the house, noting the way things were thrown all over the place, "There was a fight," Tommy announced, "And nobody stayed to clean it up, which isn't a good sign."
They made their way through the small hallway into the living room where a giant amber statue of Tammy Johnson stood in the middle of the room.
"This is not good," Tommy announced, "But I think that I know something that might help."
"This happened before?" Mason asked.
"Yes, with Dino Thunder Team."
"So in other words it happened to you?" J.T. asked.
"Find the others and get back to the school," Tommy ordered, "I need to get to Reefside."
...Reefside…
Tommy quickly pulled up to Hayley's Cyber Cafe and rushed inside. It was busy, as was to be suspected on a Saturday morning. He glanced around, he needed to talk to Hayley, and he needed to talk to her now.
"Dr. O," a voice called out, causing him to look up, Devin was standing in front of him, "Can I get you something?"
"You work here?" Tommy asked in surprise.
"Well, it pays for my tuition," Devin said, shrugging, "Not all of us have rich parents like Trent who are willing to pay for college."
"Well, I need to talk to Hayley," Tommy insisted, before quickly looking around and leaning forward, "Tell her that I need to talk to her about Power rangers, it's important, the Legendary Mystical Team sent me."
"Oh yeah, Hayley mentioned that you got a job offer there, she kind of thought that you might have, well, you know," Devin said, "Ethan and Connor told me once that you can't live in a town with power ranger activity without getting involved."
"Well, I haven't gotten completely involved yet, and I'm hoping that they'll solve the issue before I have to," Tommy insisted, "But I do need to talk to Hayley."
With that Tommy made himself towards a corner that wasn't crowded like the rest of the room, nodding slightly at Kira as he walked past the stage where Kira was doing a soundcheck. She must still perform at the Cafe during the weekends while she waited for a better opportunity to come up.
Soon the redhead of Hayley came bobbing through the crowd followed closely by the blonde of Kira.
"What's going on Dr. O?" Kira asked, "Don't tell me your in uniform again?"
"Once a Ranger, always a ranger," Tommy insisted with a laugh, "But not yet, it's only been a week, however, we do have a situation. You see, the team mentor, the purple ranger, who just happens to be TJ Johnson's sister was turned into an Amber encased Statue, since you're the one that freed me when that happened to me, I figured that you'll be the one to go to for help."
"There's only one problem with that," Kira said, glancing at Hayley before looking at her team mentor, "We kind of blew up the meteor that we used."
"All we need is a small fragment, right," Tommy asked, "I'm sure that we can find that."
"Even if we can find a fragment," Hayley said, "I don't think that it would be a smart move letting you handle it. It makes your recessive personality your dominant one, and I happen to know you well enough to know that we don't want your recessive personality taking over."
Tommy chuckled, "probably a good idea," he admitted.
...The City Outside Knight Academy…
"Where are they?" J.T. muttered, scanning the busy sidewalks, "I can't see them anywhere."
Mason looked around, before rolling his eyes, "We're here to catch a bus to the school, We'll call the others."
"But it would be rude to interrupt their dates," J.T. insisted.
"We have to," Mason insisted, "with Ms. Johnson turned to amber and Uncle Tommy going to Reefside to fetch something to free her, we're venerable to attacks. In fact, I won't be surprised to find out that the school is being attacked right now and we aren't there to stop them."
"Let's go," J.T. announced, "There's a bus now."
"And Sara and Mark," Mason added, pointing to the bus stop, "Come on let's go. Sara! Mark!"
Sara and Mark glanced up as they heard their names being called,
"Mason," Sara cried out in disbelief, "What are you doing here? Is something wrong?"
"A monster attacked Ms. Johnson at her house, Uncle Tommy went to Reefside to get something to help her, but the monster is probably attacking the school by now."
"And none of us are there at the moment to stop it. They'll have a head start looking for the Holy Grail. If I knew where it was, I'd say head straight there and protect it, but no one but Headmaster Knight knows where it is."
"We'll just have to deal with it when we get there," Mark insisted.
...Knight Academy…
Sara stared in disbelief at the carnage in front of her, "This kind of reminds me of the ancient Greek myths about Medusa turning everybody into stone."
"But that's Greek, not Celtic," Mason pointed out, staring at the hundreds of students frozen on the lawn, "We don't know if that's how this monster works or not."
"I'll rather play it safe, just in case." Mark stated, "Sara do you have a mirror in your purse?"
"Do I look like the kind of girl with a mirror compact in my purse?" Sara asked, shooting Mark a dirty look.
There was a loud scampering noise behind them, causing them to stiffen as a cold voice said, "Well, well well, I wondered when the power rangers were going to show up to play, do you like my lawn decorations?"
"Morgana," Sara said slowly, pulling out her morpher, "You are going to pay for everything you've done."
"You wouldn't hurt me," Morgana taunted, "Hurting me just means you're hurting your mother and you can't do that."
"Watch me," Sara snarled, whirling around at the same time she morphed before launching herself at Morgana.
"Sara," Mason called out, "Morgana's just a distraction, there's still a monster out here somewhere."
J.T. frowned as he realized something, he was suddenly standing in the shade, "Mason," he called out nervously, "I think I found the monster," he announced, looking upward to see a large black spider with amber eyes glaring at him.
The Monster rose up and spat a large golden glob at J.T. who dodged it. The Glob landed on a patch of grass which instantly turned to Amber, "Just so you know, this is nothing like Medusa," he shouted.
To Be Continued.
Next time on LMPR with the teens fighting the Amber Mutant, Tommy is working with former teammate Kira Ford to find a fragment of a meteor to free Ms. Johnson but Tommy finds something more than he bargains for.
