Chapter 14

[Member registered. System activated. Link completed. Welcome Kagome Hishoko]

She blinked once. And then twice. And then she looked from the ring to her guild masters.

K: "Whaaaaa?!"

Her voice was carried by the wind and the birds flew away in shock from the volume of her voice.

Both Jeff and Delilah laughed their asses off at Kagome's reaction

J: "Sorry about that kid. When you're registered into the system, it automatically links with you and you'll hear that voice in your head like a guide. If there is any event, emergency requests, messages it will be done through the system. You can add friends and request them to join parties and send instant messages."

K: "If we can send instant messages… why do I need to send you physical mail and reports?"

J: "To make sure the outsiders aren't aware of our technology. Also when you successfully registered, you've agreed to our terms and conditions. Its just a few simple ones. Don't betray the guild. Don't speak of our technology to anyone outside the guild be it family or friends. That means no writing as well. Failure to do so will be immediate death from electric shock from the chip into the brain and it will explode and since its in your neck, you'll die."

Kagome paled drastically

K: "THOSE ARE THINGS YOU TELL PEOPLE BEFORE THEY SUCCESSFULLY REGISTER! THIS IS A SCAM!" she yelled

D: "Well, we know you won't betray us."

K: "Still… it would have been nice to know this beforehand…" She glared at the two of them.

Delilah motioned for her to follow them back to the guild counter and took her license and scanned through her card.

D: "Hmm seems like everything is in order. Alright." She took the copper dogtag from Julie, bit her thumb and smeared it on the back of the card and placed the dogtag on the blood and it glowed blue for a moment and then the blood was imprinted on the card in the shape of a wolf. The insignia of the guild. The dog tag too held the insignia of the guild but with a star below it.

Kagome looked at the dog tag with a bit of confusion.

K: "What's the star for?"

D: "It's your signature. Every adventurer is given a signature or symbol of their own based on their skills, name and overall analysis. Now I'm sure you don't need us to tell you to not to lose the tag and license. If you do, it'll cost you a gold coin to make a new one respectively. Jeff and I will leave you to Julie for the orientation. I hope to see great work from you, Kagome. But remember, take things one step at a time. Nothing is more important than your survival in our line of work."

K: "Yes! Thank you for everything!"

Kagome bowed in a perfect ninety degrees at the masters of the guild.

xXxXxXxXx

Kagome was taken to the staff room. There was an abundance of weapons, armors and gears in the enormous room. She took everything in with stars in her eyes which caused Julie to giggle at her antics.

J: "Alright, the first few things about our line of work aside from ensuring your safety and survivability as our deputy master had told you earlier, is how to earn income. You make money from taking on quests based on your rank. The ranking system is fairly easy to remember, SS rank being the highest and E rank lowest. D and E rank adventurers have copper dog tags. B and C rank adventurers have silver, A ranks have gold. S and SS rankers hold the Platinum tags. Now, to accept quests, you don't have to go to the bulletin boards. The quest bulletin boards are only mainly for adventurers from different towns or those not from our guild to access. To access quests all you have to do is push a bit of mana into the ring given to you by the guild master and say Quest Board. And a quest bulletin board will pop out with different types of request based on your rank for you to choose from."

Julie then motioned for Kagome to give a go and she did as instructed.

K: "Quest board"

Immediately a window of quests popped up in front of her and she grinned with excitement.

'Oh my god! It's so cool! It's definitely like an RPG game.'

J: "If you see any requests you are interested in taking on, all you have to do is tap on it and tap accept. Any requests on the quest bulletin board that is taken by any other adventurers will not pop up to avoid unnecessary arguments and fights. Once the quest you've taken is completed, the system will alert you and you'll have to return to the guild to hand in the items completed from your quest. E.g, if you accept a quest to collect 100 pieces of mugwort, you will hand it in to me or my colleagues at the counter. You needn't do so if you quest is to gather information. That kind of quest will be completed once you message the guild master the information needed.

All adventurers that registered with our guild will automatically open a savings account to ease any transactions for your quest rewards. If you open your status window, beside your level there will be an indication of your total balance. The currency equation chart is available for your perusal if you say currency chart. It will be presented in the equation most suited for you. each individual is given a different chart by the system."

K: "Currency Chart"

Kagome's eyes bulged at the equation

[Currency Equation Chart]

1 brass coin = 10c

1 bronze coin= 10 brass coins = $1

1 copper coin= 10 bronze coin =$10

1 silver coin= 10 copper coin = $100

1 gold coin = 10 silver coin = 100 copper coin = $1000

1 platinum coin = 10 gold coins = 100 silver coins = 1000 copper coins = $10 000

1 royal coin = 100 platinum coins = 1000 gold coins = 10 000 silver coins = 100 000 copper coins = $1 000 000

thinking back to her father's treasury, there is an entire room filled with stacks of royal coins. Kagome felt faint as her father had given her a single royal coin to her before she left. Thinking it had no value, she grumbled at her dad but she still brought it along with her. she checked her total balance,

K: "What if I want to withdraw the money?"

J: "Just take it out from the storage box that comes with the ring."

Kagome raised her brow in question

K: "If we have a storage box that can transfer our coins, why do we still need to come back to the guild to hand in items from job requests we take? Can't we do the same with items?"

Julie looked at her with an astounded look.

J: "That's the first time someone pointed that out. Everyone usually gets too excited to question anything. But to answer your question, we can and we do have item exchange for our shop features. We ask adventurers to bring back job request items for the sake to keep outsiders from raising questions."

'Makes sense. If none of the guild members ever show up at the guild, other guilds will be suspicious of us and that will endanger our own members.'

Kagome nodded in understanding.

K: "You said there is a shop feature?"

J: "Yes, if you were to say, Open Shop, it will display all weapons, potions, poisons and other equipment sold by the guild. Members are allowed to sell items as well however only non-quest related items so as to ensure there are no members that cheat their way up. Any items sold by guild members will take about 24hrs to be released to the shop as it will be reviewed by the staff members to make sure it is not overpriced and no fake items are sold. This way it will be a win-win situation. Only auction items are allowed to be 'overpriced' as the highest bidder takes home the item. Auctions will be open every Sunday. Cash out is immediate after buyer receives the item they paid for. Items bought will be automatically available in your storage box."

K: "What if someone wants to buy ingredients to make potions? Won't those ingredients fall into quest related items as well?"

Julie smiled brightly at Kagome's question.

J: "Not to worry, if that were to happen, you may purchase it in the shop. The system will not acknowledge it as part of the quest. Any quest items will be acknowledged through the member's own hard work. It will recognize whether or not you work to get it or buy it. You have no worries about it."

K: "Wow, Jeff really thought it through huh?"

J: "It was through a lot of trial and error. Believe me, there was so much that went wrong in the beginning but he eventually got there. Do you have any questions for me?"

K: "What about ranking up?"

J: "Ah yes, thank you for reminding me. To raise your rank from E to D, you need to at least complete a minimum of 100 E rank quests and raise your level to 20. D to C will be 100 D rank quests and your level will have to at least be 35. C rank to B rank, 50 C rank quests, member level 50. A ranks will need to complete 50 A rank quests and a minimum level of 70. S ranks, 100 A ranks and 50 S rank quests. Once you have reached the requirement, the system will inform you and you will have to check in with the guild master for a ranking up exam. Any skills recorded in your system will only be available to you and the guild master and the deputy. In the event, god forbid, that there is a breach in our system from enemies, it will automatically be independent and the records within the guild masters knowledge will be erased and your information is safe and only known to you."

K: "What if the microchip is extracted?"

J: "It is impossible to be extracted as it has fused into your body. It has become one with your body quite literally. Let's say if there is another person with the same skill set as our deputy, the member whose chip was removed unless by our deputy will most likely not survive and the microchip will immediately erase any information within it and will self destruct in 2 seconds. The only one able to remove it safely is deputy guild master Delilah. That's why it is of utmost importance that we do not speak this to non-members and have sworn an oath regarding it. anyone who doesn't follow it will be paralyzed before speaking of it as a first warning. There will be no second warning."

Julie's face became grimmer the further she explained. It was only then Kagome realized that despite the sweet benefits that was given when she joined the guild, it came with a heavy price.

She wasn't given enough time to think on it when Julie clapped her hands happily.

J: "Moving on now, you are the third rookie to have joined our guild this month. In total there are over a hundred D rankers. Most of them are fifteen years of age and above. There are three youngsters including you below the age of ten. You'll probably come across them sooner or later. If you decide to party up, experience points gained will be divided equally amongst party members. The loot however, will be given to the party leader and you will divide it amongst your members. We hope you will divide it equally. Failure to do so, members will be penalized and blacklisted from being party leader in future."

K: "Even D rankers can party up?"

Julie nodded her head with a smile

J: "I think that covers most of the orientation. If there is anything you are unsure of, you may contact me through instant messaging, or texting as Jeff would say. I will send you a friend request right now. Most information regarding dungeons and monsters and what they drop will be in the system. You just have to say, Search, and add in the information in which you'd like to know.

New members are provided a room in our dorm for free for three months, meals included 3 times a day. If you'd like to continue staying after the three months is over, you will have to pay 1 silver coin a month excluding food. New members will have to use the public bath whereas rental rooms will have their own bathroom attached. There are different packages of the room depending on how much it costs.

The fanciest one would be the suite which costs 1 gold coin a month. It has a living room, a kitchen, dining area, lounging area, 2 bath rooms and 2 rooms, fully furnished. Meals included 3 times a day at the tavern next door to our guild hall. Once again if you have any further questions you may search through the system or message me. Your room has been prepared, just follow the map in your system and it'll lead you to it. You have to head behind the stadium. Oh and one final thing, you don't really have to say it out loud, you just have to think it and it'll pop out. Remember, the system is now part of you" she winked

Kagome stood there staring at Julie with wide, confused eyes before blinking and slowing nodding her head.

'open map.'

[Map Open. Would you like to set a destination?]

[YES/NO]

'Yes. Set destination to my dorm room'

[Set Destination: Dorm Room]

There was a tiny blue dot blinking in the map before her that indicated it was her. And a star where she assumes her room must be. So Kagome bowed to Julie and said her thanks before following the directions of her room.

xXxXxXxXx

it wasn't big nor was it small. Her room was located at the 3rd floor of the fifteen story building. There was a facility area the 5th floor. There was a pool, gym, sauna, theatre room, spa and laundry area. There was a basement as well for training. A dojo of some sorts. Kagome felt as though the adventurer's guild master was either an isekai'ed person or a descendant of one. This entire building was screaming condominium at her. one of the reasons why Kagome had stopped thinking this life she was living was just a novel world. This was a world with real people who are doing their best at making a living. If she was going to do this half-assed, she might as well just give up now.

'Gotta admit, the facilities that comes with the building is hella nice! Not palace nice, but second best!'

She sat on her single bed and looked around her room properly. If one were to look from the entrance door, it was a simple single person room with a single bed, a study desk and chair facing the window which was located across from the bed. Beside the door was a closet for her clothes and a mini fridge next to her study desk. There was a ceiling fan and two wall lamps. One located next to the door and the other on the wall across it. It wasn't big but it is cozy.

Kagome took a deep breath before taking her pillow and covering her face with it and squealing in excitement as much as she could into it.

"Oh my god! The system is definitely like a rpg game! It feels like now I'm living in a game or isekai manga rather than a love novel! Sugoiiiii!" she squealed hysterically into her pillow again.

That was how our Kagome fell asleep that evening, with a grin on her face.

A/N: I am proud of this chapter. so now i might go back on a long break because brain is fried. Tell me what you think. Ja ne!
