*For Honor and Shidou belongs to Ubisoft
*Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima
A/N: Qin is not the official last name of Shidou, but the For Honor lore and wiki didn't give him a last name so I took the pleasure of adding Qin to his name. Also, in my other crossover fanfics, I always made an original character but for this story, I just decided, "Hey, this character (Shidou) For Honor made has a pretty interesting backstory. Lets see what I can do with him" I then looked for a show I could use and I was debating on Fairy Tail or Legend of Korra, but I didn't know who to go for so... I decided on a coin toss. Fairy Tail won.
And that's how this crossover came to be!
Happiness was a gift for those who are deserving. And Qin Shidou was not one of them.
At one point in his life, he thought he was happy, that he had everything a man in his position would have wanted. He had power and influence that his name was instantly recognized. He had all the women he wanted ready to bed at a moment's notice. And he had so much money, he didn't even know what to do with it. He lived as a carefree playboy prince of a powerful empire, but all in all, they never made him happy. They made him distracted, but only for a moment. Frivolous pursuits ne now calls them.
And he had strength. So much strength his own family feared his fighting prowess. He was most proud of his skill with the blade and was foolish to believe he was exempt from any form of pain.
How wrong he was.
He learned very quickly that what he thought was his greatest gift was in actuality his greatest curse.
Insanity and rage overtook him, and he murdered his three older brothers. All for a golden throne.
With his siblings cut to pieces, his father collapsed in sorrow at the fate of his sons and killed himself soon after. The fate of his mother was unknown, but if Shidou had to bet, she faced something heinous as well. With a severely weakened royal family, the kingdom was thrown into disarray and created a perfect opportunity for raiding armies to pillage and take over.
With his home and empire taken, and his family in shambles, guilt and horror filled his veins constantly. Even now be bares the sins like fresh wounds. And so he ran away from the empire he failed and the family he destroyed, and headed west, only to find an even bigger war between the fearless vikings of Valkenheim, the valiant knights of Ashfeld, and the faithful samurai of the Myre.
He realized when he fled that he was scum. The scummiest of scum that deserves no happiness. He vowed to fight and kill those like himself, to become the worst of the wicked so that one day he would die in battle and finally atone for all the wrong he has committed.
His path was drenched in blood, and there was no redemption for the likes of him.
Shidou learned early in his travels that sleeping lightly was a benefit for any warrior should any unwanted surprises befell him. Which was why waking up from a deep slumber confused him. He laid on a grassy hill top with a tall oak tree shading him from the evening sun. His eyes fluttered open and he took in his surroundings. He noted how... vibrant everything was. The colors of everything, down from the grass to the sky looked new and alive, a far contrast from the normally dim and washed-out colors he was used to. The air was was soft too, smelling natural and fresh as opposed to the tainted and ash-ridden air he had become accustomed to in Healthmoor.
"Something is wrong" he said aloud. Nothing in Healthmoor was this beautiful or serene. The air was too good to be true and the scenery was too pure for a world such as his to even exist.
For a moment, he thought he finally died, that he was in some sort of afterlife. That idea was shattered when a small child suddenly came out from behind the tree. It was a boy dressed in a simple white tee, blue trousers and black, laceless shoes. He had blonde hair and blue eyes, signs that he could be ashfeldien.
"Woah! You look so cool mister!" he happily greeted as he eyed Shidou in awe. He was garbed in black iron plate armor with golden trim. Starting from the bottom, he had brown laceless pointed shoes with a blue and red flame design. He had iron greaves with golden trim and three golden wavy spikes on both legs on the both sides of each leg. His pants were red with multiple silvery floral circles dotting them. Scaled fauld armor covered and protected his hips and groin and was held together by a thick belt of iron and leather with red silk underneath. At the back of the belt, a rectangular banner was attached. On the banner was a red and black floral design with a white serpent-like dragon with arms and legs in the middle. A metal cuirass protected his chest and back and was trimmed with gold. Under the cuirass was a red, thick, and long-sleeved shirt. Golden dragon heads were engraved into the pauldrons and down their arm, scaled armor protected his upper arms. His bracers were asymmetrical; the right had a golden demon embedded in the metal bracer while the left had those wavy spikes and golden studs. Atop his head was a metal helmet that showed his face with gold spikes on the side, a ruby etched in the forehead, and a large red plum atop the helmet.
Even outside his armor, Shidou was an impressive male specimen. Standing at a height of 6 feet and at a young age of 24, Shidou's body was lean yet toned and muscular from years of training and fighting. His once fair skin was tan after all his time outside. Underneath the helmet, his hair was black and medium length, styled in a slick back. His eyes were violet and he had facial hair in the form of a short moustache and chin curtain, the hair grown short over the jaw and chin, and met the sideburns.
"Um... thank you, young one. Can you tell me where I am? I don't remember how I got here" the runaway prince politely asked.
"We're near the village of Crust, my home" the boy answered. "My name's Alvin. What's yours mister?" Alvin asked in return.
"Qin Shidou. But just call me Shidou"
The boy repeat him name a couple name out loud, getting a feel for it. After the fifth time, Alvin giggled, "That's a funny name mister."
Shidou always had a soft spot for children. 'So young, so innocent. It's a shame it will be crushed down the line.' He smiled at him and he got up to his feet, but found his strength wobbly as if he was standing for the first time in days. "Can you show me where your village lies, Alvin?"
"Sure mister Shidou" the boy happily agreed. "You better not forget your cool sword too"
"Ah yes, my sword. Where is-" He paused when he finally found it next to where he laid. His dao sword was the same one he left his empire with, a typical steel sword with a wooden grip. Nothing fancy, just the type you would find at any other blacksmiths. However, that wasn't the sword that laid on the grass. It had the typical thick curved blade and ribbon attached to the pommel, but it was leagues more ornate than the weapon he had before. The edge, tip, and back of the sword was gold but the whole blade surfaces on both sides were purple. A golden dragon with a serpent-like body and limbs was embedded in the middle of the purple and its tiny eyes were red rubies. The guard was an octagon shape with a gold border and purple interior. Tiny dragons circled the octagon. The hilt was purple as well but writing was etched into the hilt in red and if translated meant "dragon". The pommel of the sword was golden and attached to it was a diamond-shaped ribbon. Its design was like the blade, trimmed gold with a purple interior with a red-eyed gold dragon.
Shidou picked up the blade and instantly felt a connection. It was strange as he never held this dao or even had any memory of the blade. It just felt... natural to Shidou, like he had held this weapon countless times. 'A bit saturated with dragons, but a usable blade nonetheless.'
Speaking of memories, the tiandi's were all muddled and unclear. He remembered he was exiting some tavern in the middle of the night and then poof! He's here. The time in between was dark and unseeable, but he didn't worry so much as he had a feeling it'll heal after some time.
He followed behind Alvin as the boy hummed a happy tune. His hand reached his chin and he rubbed his facial hair. "Strange. I swore I shaved before I went to the tavern" he mumbled.
The beside him bantered and pestered him with trivial questions, but Shidou did not mind one bit and answered accordingly as the two made their way to Crust.
Without warning, Alvin grabbed Shidou by the wrist and picked up the pace. "Why the sudden rush, child?"
"It's getting dark out, and the large monster terrorizing Crust comes out at night" Alvin explained.
"Large monster?" Shidou parroted, confusion mixed with a whole lot of doubt.
"Yeah! It's powerful too! So powerful, my village sent out a request worthy for a wizard to kill it!" Alvin then said. His eye sparkled at the idea of meeting a powerful mage while Shidou deadpanned at the boy.
"A wizard? You do realize magic doesn't exist, right?" The response he garnered from the child made him look like the stupid one, like he just said the most objectively wrong statement of the century. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"... Are you hermit, mister Shidou?"
"No..."
"No, you must be, otherwise you wouldn't have said something so stupid"
"Well then, if magic exist, show me proof-" And proof he received because when the two stopped, Alvin waved at the ground and glowing vines instantly sprouted from the ground. It grew to the same size as the boy and sprouted flowers all over its surface.
'Well... that's new' Shidou instantly thought. The action was so instant, it couldn't be a coincidence. The vine lacked any reason or logic to its instant growth other than the fact it was conjured when Alvin used his hand. It was legit magic. The real question though was how. How did Healthmoor or maybe the world developed this type of power? Was he asleep for that long that could allow for changes like this to happen under his nose? He was utterly floored at the reveal, a trait he rarely showed. "It... it appears that I am, indeed, a hermit. Child, what part of Heathmoor am I in?"
"Healthmoor?" Alvin repeated in a confused tone. "I don't know where this Heathmoor place is, but we're near Crust, a somewhat-large village in the kingdom of Fiore."
"Fiore?" It sounded like something from Ashfeld, but he wasn't sure. 'A deeper investigation will be needed in the future. Where the hell am I?'
They continued their way back to Crust. The eldest of the two squinted his eyes at the source of light before he crouched behind a nearby bush. Alvin was about to question his behavior until Shidou grabbed him, placed a hand over his mouth, and hid him behind the bush.
"Hush. Something is happening at your village" Shidou told him. Alvin looked and his eyes grew in recognition.
"Those are the bandits that've been harassing my village!" A man walked out of his home and confronted the group of vagabonds. He was dressed similarly to Alvin with the exception of his gray shirt. The man also had blonde hair and a beard. The villager was mostly talking to the leader of the bandits, a big and burly bald man with pale skin. The bandit had black shoes, brown pants, and no shirt on. From this distance, Shidou saw that what the villager said clearly triggered the bandit as his face twisted in rage and back-handed the villager to the ground. "Dad!" Alvin cried.
The foreigner looked down at him and saw the tears dripping down his face. His face hardened. "Stay here. I'll handle them."
Alvin, surprised, tried to dissuade him from going. "Y-You can't, mister Shidou! You didn't even know magic existed until a few minutes ago. What if they can use that against you?"
Shidou paused. He had no idea how potent an energy this "magic" was. For all he knew, he could be blasted into a bloody paste with just a thought.
"Let go of me!" A woman's voice pierced Alvin and Shidou's ears, but it was Alvin's body that went rigid at the sight. The bandit leader was holding a woman by her long platinum blonde hair. "You bastard!"
"Seems like your wife's a lively one" the bandit leader snickered as he hungrily eyed the woman's curves. "She'll make great entertainment for me and my boys!"
"Get your hands off-!" Alvin's father tried to strike, but his offender merely kicked him and placed a firm foot atop his head.
"Mom, Dad..." the little boy whimpered at the sight.
Shidou's eyes focus solely on the piece of human scum that was the bandit leader. He made up his mind when the leader started to step on Alvin's father's throat. 'Perhaps if I move quickly, I can take them out.'
The tiandi moved so fast, the first bandit didn't see what was coming. His head lobbed clean off his shoulders before he even turned around. The second bandit was equipped with a one-handed arming sword. He rushed Shidou and attacked. His right-sided swing was large enough to create a window of opportunity as Shidou parried him and palm striked him right in the chest. He sliced him across the chest before slicing deeply into his jugular. He bleed a waterfall until he collapsed to the ground dead.
A bright light shined to his right. He only had half a second to react before the light came charging at him. He dodged and saw a female bandit with lightning crackling from her fingers. Shidou evaded her onslaught of magic, hoping to tire her out and waiting for his time to strike.
The female bandit growled in frustration. "Stop dodging!" she bellowed as she fired an even faster attack. One Shidou couldn't possibly dodge.
Time seemed to slow as the magical lighting was nearing him. His mind registered the attack, but knew he couldn't avoid it. He was fast, but not that fast. This attack could prove to be the start of his undoing, or his end. With how close it was to hitting his face, he would bet the latter.
His eyes dilated, the thumping of his heart was the only thing he heard. His hand clench his sword so tight, it might've broke if it wasn't so strong. Instincts were all he was working on, and his muscle memories suddenly flickered. He swung his sword into the lighting and to his amazement, blocked the attack.
But that wasn't all. The lightning simmered down as his sword absorbed the energy. Once yellow, the absorbed lightning turned purple and charged through his entire sword. He had made her energy his, and Shidou immediately knew this. The volatile energy didn't even tickle him when it came in contact with his hand.
"I dare you to do that again!" The bandit threw another bout of lightning. His muscles worked without thought, as if he practiced this move a thousand times before. His breathing evened and he sliced the air. Purple energy was discharged and came racing towards the female bandit. Her attack collided with the energy and was immediately negated. She barely had time to dodge and the energy connected with her front.
"ARGH!" She tried to resist. She used all her energy to ensure the attack didn't pierce bifurcate her, but it was all for naught. The purple energy dug into her skin faster than a snap and exploded. The dust cloud forced Shidou to cover his eyes, but as dust settled, his eyes bulged at the sight of the charred remains of the female bandit. She utter one last pain-filled gasp before collapsing to the ground.
"Woah..." was all the tiandi could muster.
"You've got guts, kid. I'll give you that." Shidou snapped his head towards the head bandit's voice, but when he did a sharp spike of rock shot from the ground. He dodged back and readied himself as the bandit leader stalked towards him. "But if you expect to leave here scot-free, you've got another thing coming."
A scowl crossed Shidou's face, indifference radiating from his form.. "Hmph. Rock magic? As expected of a crude dullard."
The burly man seemed to have taken offense to that. "I don't know what a dullard is, but I'll make you pay regardless!" He raised both his hands and two boulders were raised. "Boulder dash!" The boulders came one after the other at a pace as if they were tossed by catapults. Shidou dodged under the first one but had to brave the second. He thought he would, somehow, absorb the boulder or its energy, but when it came in contact with his sword, it did none of them. The boulder pushed him back, but Shidou resisted with a strength he never knew he had. He was pushed until his back almost hit the wall of a house behind him.
He moved around the large rock, only for the bandit to descend upon him. "Boulder Gauntlets!" The earth cracked as it broke off many pieces of itself and attached themselves to the bandit leader's arms. With his gauntlets of earth, the bandit punched square in the chest and sent him barreling threw a couple houses until he landed in the town square.
"Ugh..." Shidou groaned. "How the hell did I survive that?" A shadow loomed over him and Shidou, in his dazed state, thought there was eclipse until he looked up and saw the advancing form of the bandit. He rolled out the way just in time before he was mashed. Shidou stood back up and engaged the bear of a man.
The bandit swung at him, but Shidou dodged and slide between his open legs. He punched his ball-sack, forcing him to grasp his family jewels, before cutting the back of his left knee. He buckled, but soon recovered as he turned around, face snarling like a rabid beast, and swung down a hammer fist down at him. Shidou blocked, but the force the bandit was putting kept him down and struggling.
His entire body threatened to crumple underneath the unrelenting force. For sure power like this would decimate hundred of warriors in Heathmoor. The fact he was still resisting was a feat that Shidou couldn't help but mind. It just didn't make sense.
His senses felt enflamed as well. Just his nose was picking up more scents than what any normal human could. He could smelled the rancid sweat of the bandit leader. He could smelled the earthy tones of the pieces of rubble around them. He could even smell the fear and apprehension of the crowd watching them.
Shidou's breath was rapid, not enough to deliver cool air towards his burning lungs. But, in the midst of his breathing, the air...no, something else... tasted sweet and energizing, like the finest wine Shidou ever drank.
The young chinese man roared, the veins on his neck pulsating, as he pushed the bandit off him. "Little cunt!" the bandit leader cursed. He smashed his left fist down, but Shidou dodged left, twirling like an elated dancer, and sliced his side. Another rock-clad punch came his way but Shidou deflected, swiftly moving underneath the threatening limb and sliced the bandit's other side. Shidou then dropped his body low and palm-striked him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him before slashing his stomach. The cut was large, but because the bandit was significantly stronger than any of his goons, it was shallow.
The bandit trembled to his knees, which gave Shidou the perfect opener. He used his front knee as a stepping stone and back-flip kicked his chin. The bandit leader was knocked to the ground while Shidou was suspended in the air. When his body spun and faced the bandit, he slashed the air once again, sending another energy attack. However, in comparison to the one he sent to the female bandit, it was less volatile in size and power. The bandit had enough time to block, resulting in a small explosion going off. The blast did char him a bit, but he was otherwise still alive.
Shidou frowned, realizing something about his powers: for his energy slices to reach lethal levels of power, he needed to absorb energy first. And since this bandit showed no power than earth manipulation, he unfortunately had to parley with him for even longer.
His enhanced hearing picked up something, but it was too late. Yellow lightning connected with his body, shocking him and pinning him in place. He turned his head with great difficulty, only for his eyes to bulge like a fish as he stared at the horribly charred female bandit.
The disfigured girl smirk. "Got you..." she lowly utter before finally succumbing to her wounds and fell, finally dead.
To add more insult to injury, the bandit leader recovered as he loomed over Shidou's stunned form. He was smirking all the while, displaying his filthy unkept teeth. Without further delay, he slammed Shidou into the ground with tremendous force. Shidou was shocked when his armor started to crack, the plates never made for this sort of punishment. The bandit leader kept punching while he was down, laughing maniacally as he watched the life slowly leave the tiandi's eyes.
If this was the death he was destined for, Shidou was disappointed to say the least. To have been outmatched or outnumbered was something he could accept, but to land himself near death's door because of a barbequed girl's sneak attack was utterly shameful.
But still, as the punching continued and his vision began to blur, he had little to complain about. One hard jab at his abdomen resulted in blood and spit flying from mouth. He began to resign himself to end.
... But his end wasn't now. Before he knew it, the bandit leader was kicked in the head, knocking him away from Shidou's broken form.
And the first thing he noticed was her beautiful scarlet-red hair.
It was long, reaching her lower back. She had black boots that reached just below her knees. She wore a blue skirt and white blouse but the blouse was covered by her silver armor. The armor looked to knightly and covered her chest, back, shoulders, and forearms. A golden off-set cross was embedded on her chest. The cross covered a dark red mark Shidou had never seen before. And because she was standing sideways in front of him, he could see the same mark on her left upper arm but in blue. In left hand was what looked to be an arming sword with winged guard.
Though her appearance and weapon denoted her as a warrior, her stern yet beautiful face and her strong yet voluptuous figure was a sight to behold. He was almost convinced an angel descended from heaven, here to deliver justice from above to all the sinners of the world and to spread her grace across the land.
Her head snapped to him, her brown quickly shifting to that of concern. She climbed down the small crater and gently took Shidou's helmet off. She checked his pulse and her sighed in relief. "You fought well for today. Rest now." Even her voice was strong and elegant.
His vision dulled, but they narrowed in confusion when he saw the bandit's trembling form. "Titania..." Shidou heard him mutter. Vines sprouted from underneath him and carried him away from the battle. Alvin's tearful expression of relief filled his vision before he given a big hug, further crushing his already battered body.
"You're alive!"
"Not for long if you keep hugging him like that." his mother scolded and smacked her son's back. He yelped but relented to her wishes. She shifted and hovered over Shidou and held out her hand above him. Her hands glowed green and suddenly he felt all the pain he was in slowly evaporate. "I know healing magic. It isn't as refined as those you see in the big towns, but it should repair some of the damage you received." She then smiled at him. "Consider it thanks for helping us."
He nodded at gratitude before a loud crash diverted his attention. His eyes jutted out of his skull as he watched how easily the red-haired knight was dispatching the bandit. To be fair, the bandit leader was putting up an admirable front, trying his best to defend against knight who was strangely in a completely different armor than before. It a black suit of armor with silver trim. The armor had a pair of wings the woman used for flight. Equipped in both hands were broad single-edged swords. The two engaged, but to call it a fight would have been disingenuous; it was a massacre. An utter humiliation on the bandit's side as he couldn't land any good hits, the redhead's mobility just too fast for him Whenever he did get a hit in, they weren't anything lasting, merely scuffing up her armor.
It was hard to tell how long she and the bandit fought, but the bandit leader at this point was nothing but a sweating mess, unable to keep up with his redheaded opponent. He saw her charging him and swung, only to miserably miss. The redhead ducked underneath his swing and sliced his exposed ribs before finishing him with a cranium-breaking kick. The bandit fell, his eyes entirely white. The woman landed beside him and shifted armors, returning back to her original armor.
She utterly dominated the bandit leader with supreme mobility and great offense. It was sight to behold, watching her exhaust the bandit with her evasion and strike him when he was most vulnerable. Just from this battle, Shidou could tell she had a commanding aura around her no matter what she was doing. She stood with refined strength that just demanded respect.
"She's so awesome" gushed the little boy.
"Who is she?" Shidou mumbled, his own mind also in awe of the knightly woman.
"You don't know?" Alivin's mother gaped, shocked. When he nodded in response, she then said. "She's Fairy Tail's Titania. An S-class wizard." The redhead turned her head in their direction and the wind gently blew, moving her long scarlet hair. Nothing else compared to the beauty she was, and Shidou couldn't help but find his breath taken. He quickly squashed the feeling. "And her name is Erza Scarlet."
