Chapter 1

I had just been having what I can only say is the best dream I have ever had, when I got woken up to my alarm blearing in my ear. I groaned and slammed my hand down on it to turn it off. I got up and decided to go in for a shower after the way felt because of my dream. It had been more like a replay of a memory really. I was back at the cabin Dimitri and I had finally given in and said we loved each other among other things we did.

It has been about three weeks since the cabin. Three long and hard weeks of pretending nothing had happened and that we were just student and mentor, with the occasional accidental touch here or there. Along with a couple nights where Dimitri would come to my room after his shift and hold me in bed till, I fell asleep. A couple of times I would even wake up with him still in my bed sound asleep.

I loved those days. Dimitri would wake and smile at me, say good morning, and pull me in closer to him. I felt so much love when he did that. It felt like the love he had for me wrapped around me in that moment, like a warm blanket that I never wanted to leave on a cold day. I felt so safe and cared for that I never wanted the moment to end.

But sadly, it always did thanks to my stupid alarm going off for practice.

After my shower I got dressed and headed for the gym, looking forward to seeing my Russian there waiting for me as usual, when he did not spend the night.

As I got there, I put my gym bag down and started my stretches when I heard a squeal coming from the equipment room. I walked over and opened the door a bit more so I could see in, which I instantly regretted. Standing in the room were Dimitri and Tasha hugging. I was in shock for a moment just standing there. I shook my head. I was just overreacting; they were after all friends. Though that does not mean I liked it anymore then a normal girlfriend would like another girl that is in love with their boyfriend hugging them.

" You mean it Dimitri! You'll be my guardian!" Tasha said while hugging him.

" Yes, Tasha I'll be your guardian." He said pulling back from her enough to look at her.

I gasped. I slowly started to back away from the door and began to run back to my room. I stopped only when some one grabbed my arm and pulled me to a stop. I looked up to find Dimitri looking in my eyes. He began leaning down to kiss me. As much as I wanted to kiss him I didn't. I pulled away from him and began to run again.

"Roza please stop. It's not what you think. Please stop and listen to me!" He yelled as he ran after me again.

I kept running till I got to my room and locked the door. I fell on to my bed and began to cry and sadly think. I had so many question's in my head, but I didn't want to face him yet. I knew I needed to calm down before that happened.

"Rose... Roza please open the door." I heard him say outside my door.

"Roza we need to talk." He said in a desperate almost pleading voice. "Roza... Roza please let me in it's not what you think it is."

"I've heard enough for right now Guardian Belikov. Now is not a good time. Please just leave me alone for right now." I said as calmly as I could.

He must have listened to me because I didn't hear anything after except for foot steps going away from my door.

I don't know how long I stayed in my room. I heard people talking as they went by, probably going to class or breakfast. At one point I thought I heard Lissa and Adrian knock on my door calling for me, but I just stayed on my bed. Eventually I started to cry until, I ran out of tears.

Once I calmed down enough, I started to think again. Three weeks, three weeks since he said he loved me for the first time. Three weeks since he said he would never leave me. Had I just been a stupid foolish child and believed him. Had it all been lies. Was I just some stupid dhampir girl that had been there, and willing, when he wanted sex. Was that really all that I was to him.

When I had come to that thought, I had started to get mad.

Then I had started to think about Lissa. I knew if Dimitri and I had been together he or I would have had to get a different charge, him being the most obvious since I have my bond with Lissa, but I thought he would maybe get Christian to request him or he would get a passion at court or maybe even the other way around if need be.

I got up and grabbed my phone. I had apparently been in my room long enough that it was now almost dinner time. I sat on my bed and decided to check on Lissa through the bond.

She was with Christian in her room on her bed, fully clothed thankfully.

"I'm scared Christian, no ones seen her all day, except for Guardian Belikov this morning at their practice." Lissa said into him. "What if something happened to her?."

"Lissa she's probably in her room right now upset over Belikov leaving tonight. He was her mentor remember. She is probably just upset that he is leaving and that now she now has to start trusting a new Guardian to protect you. It was a sudden that he decided to go with my aunt. We will see her by tonight don't worry. She just needs a little bit of time." He said soothingly while rubbing her back.

I pulled out of her head. At least I could count on Christian to be there for Lissa when I couldn't.

It was a little bit after that I decided I was going to act like it didn't bother me. I was wrong and made a mistake. I lost focus on what was important, that I become a guardian and protect Lissa. They come first.

I would just push everything that has happened between him and I to the back of my mind and focus on that. Christian had been right about Lissa getting another Guardian now, but I was going to make it so I would never have to rely on them to protect her. I wasn't going to be the child everyone saw me as. I was going to graduate and be Lissa's Guardian faster then they could even reassign her a second Guardian.

I changed out of my workout clothes into the most professional outfit I had. Sadly, against what I was going for it also happened to be sexy looking on me. I didn't want that anymore. I wanted to look professional so people wouldn't see some child trying to grab for attention, but for now until I got to do some shopping without being on duty, this would have to do.

"Rose are you in there?" Adrian said from outside my door. I opened the door and let him in.

"I heard about Belikov leaving tonight. Rose I'm so sorry." He said giving me a hug.

"You have nothing to be sorry about Lord Ivashkov."

"Lord Ivashkov? What's with the formalities Little Dhampir? And what is with the guardian mask and outfit?"

"I've decided that I'm going to take my job as a guardian more seriously. It has been brought to my attention that some just see me as a child still, and they need to have their eyes opened. I agree my past actions have made me seem like a child but I have realized that I need to act like an adult." I said flatly. " Now if you don't mind Lord Ivashkov I have some business I must take care of. Good evening Lord Ivashkov." I said opening my door for him to leave.

"Alright I'll see you later then..." He said taken aback as he left.

He looked at me one more time and smiled. "If it counts for anything Rose I think you look the most badass and Guardian like then I've ever seen. Just because you are a Guardian doesn't mean you can't still look sexy as hell as well. Can I at least take you to where ever it is you are going?"

I smiled slightly and nodded. I walked out of my room with Adrian following beside me.

"So Rose, I hope you do know that Guardians are informal with Moroi they are friends with just as they are with Dhampir."

"Of course, I know that Lord Ivashkov, but I have a lot in my past that I need to correct and the only way to do that now is to do this for a while till it's common knowledge not to take me lightly or advantage of." I said a little more friendly then before.

"Ah, so that's it." Adrian said as he stopped walking. "You slept with him didn't you?"

I froze. I couldn't think of anything to say.

"Adrian, I …."

"No, no need little Dhampir. Your aura says it all. Quiet frankly I want to kill him even more now then when I heard he was leaving." He said as he lit a smoke. "I don't blame you though for acting this way, but just know Rose, you don't have to prove yourself to the ones that matter. We know your worth everything it takes for you to love us and be apart of our lives. If we miss treat you that's on us not you."

I just stared at him not knowing what to say. I looked down and sighed and nodded.

"Your right Adrian, I'm not doing this to prove to you guys that I'm not a child. I doing to prove to him and everyone else that you don't mess with Rose Hathaway." I said smiling looking at him.

He smiled and we continued walking.

"So, where exactly are we going?"

"To Kirova's office. I have a little proposition for her." I said a little smugly.

Adrian laughed. "Well then I look forward to seeing the outcome of it."

Once we got to Kirova's, Adrian left to go meet up with Lissa and the gang. I took a deep breath, knocked on the door and walked in.

"Why hello Rose, please sit down. What do I owe this pleasure to today for you coming to see me?" She asked politely.

"I'll be frank. I wish to take my graduating trail now headmistress".

Kirova laughed." And why is that Miss Hathaway?"

" It is to my understanding that you are down a guardian now that Guardian Belikov is leaving. If I do my trail now and graduate now, I can be one for the school until Lissa graduates."

"While that does make sense, I'm afraid the school simply could not afford to do that right now for a single student."

"If money is the problem, then I'm sure my father would be able to donate some for his own daughter's trails". I said straight faced.

I had met my father, Abe Mazur, about a week ago. He was extraordinarily rich because of his work, though most say it's illegal work, and could make almost anything happen. When we had met, I had doubts about him being able to do almost anything until my mother had said that if something had happened to me and I got put in jail he could break me out if necessary. Him and I don't have a great relationship, but it was better then the one I had with my mom.

" Well, that would be very much needed and as long as he can supply a few more guardians during the time. But I must advise you, it would be better if you waited. You are under 18 and have little experience in the real world. After the normal graduation the graduates all go to court and receive their assignments as well as having a few days of rest before that. Are you sure you want to miss out of that with your classmates?"

"Yes, It has been what I've trained for since I was little. If I loose out on waiting a few days till I know for sure I become the princesses guardian it might as well be at the school where I can do some good as well as learn in safety of the school then out in the real world."

She sighed. "Very well, How soon do you think your father could get everything arranged so the school can get started."

"How about next week Thursday. Will that give you and the guardians time to get everything ready".

" Yes, very well, I will contact guardian Petrov and let her know." She said sighing again.

"Thank you, headmistress, good day" I said nodding at her and leaving.

I got halfway to the cafeteria when the P.A system went off.

" Attention students and teachers, attention. All classes will be cancelled next week Thursday, Classes will resume on the Friday after at midnight. Please students use your time off wisely. All Guardians off duty will please meet in my office for a last-minute meeting. Guardian Petrov, please come as well. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day".

It turned off and I grabbed my phone. I looked through my contacts until I found the person I was looking for.

" Hi Baba, I need you to do something for me."

"What is it Kiz?"

"Can you come to the school with about fifteen guardians please".

" Why you're not in trouble are you Kiz?".

" No Baba. I'll explain everything when you get here, or you can talk to Kirova."

"Alright Kiz, I'll do what I can."

" Thank you, Baba I'll see you then".

I pressed the end call and continued to the cafeteria.
