One day in mid-August, Pandora was preparing for another trip to Diagon Alley to replenish her supply of potion ingredients. This time she had decided to bring Luna with her as she no longer trusted Xenophilius to look after their daughter alone - especially considering what had happened last time.

Right before they were set to leave, Pandora asked Luna, "Do you need to have a pee before we go?" The toddler shook her head. Pandora took a handful of Floo powder and tossed it into the fire, causing the flames to turn a bright emerald green. Holding Luna tightly by the hand, she said loudly and clearly, "Diagon Alley!" and the two were whisked away.

After they had stopped at Gringotts to withdraw some money from their vault (Luna had been fascinated by the goblins running the bank and had thoroughly enjoyed riding the mine carts), they headed for the Apothecary. The two-and-a-half-year-old looked around the shop in fascination, albeit with her nose wrinkled from the smell, as her mother sought out the ingredients she needed.

"Hmmm," said Pandora after they had left the Apothecary. "Why don't we stop for an ice cream before we go home?"

"Yah! Ice cweam!" Luna cheered, but no sooner had mother and daughter started for Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlor than a voice called, "Pandora!" They turned around to see Molly Weasley standing in front of Quality Quidditch Supplies with her four youngest children: Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny. The twins and Ron all groaned when they saw Luna. "Not her again!" Fred and George said in unison.

"Boys!" Molly scolded, then turned back to Pandora. "We came to pick up supplies for Bill; he's starting his second year at Hogwarts, you know. He's at Flourish and Blotts with Arthur, Charlie, and Percy right now. What about you? What brings you here?"

"Just picking up some potion ingredients," Pandora answered.

While the two women were talking, Luna was staring intently at Ron, who had some sort of smudge on his nose. Without warning, the little girl walked right up to him -and licked his nose.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Ron yelled, causing his mother to turn around in surprise. "What's going on?!" she asked.

"She LICKED me!" the little boy cried, wiping his face.

"Ron, she's only two. I'm sure she didn't know any better," Molly told him.

Meanwhile, Pandora had pulled Luna aside. "Now, Luna," she said gently, "we don't lick people."

"His nose was diwty," the little girl explained. "Was twying to cwean it off."

"Sweetheart, there are better ways to clean people's faces than licking them, like handkerchiefs." To Molly she said, "Luna and I were just going to get some ice cream. Care to join us?"

"I'm afraid we can't," said Molly sadly. "We can barely afford Bill's supplies; we don't have much more money to spare for ice cream. Come on, children, it's almost time to meet the others." And she led the children away, Ron giving Luna a look of deep disgust.

The two Lovegoods headed for the ice-cream parlor, where Pandora bought a vanilla-raspberry cone for herself and a marmalade-pistachio cone for Luna. Unfortunately, Luna licked her ice cream a bit too hard, causing it to slide off her cone and onto the ground. She then bent over and started to lick the ice cream from the ground, but her mother pulled her back. "Sweetie, don't do that."

"Why?!" the little girl whined.

"Because it's dirty now. It could have germs on it."

"Bu' I wan' it!" protested Luna, once again trying to reach for her dropped ice cream. She started to cry as Pandora picked her up and carried her away. The witch would have been more than happy to buy her daughter another ice cream, but sadly there was not enough money to spare; therefore, the two of them made their way back home through the Floo Network as the toddler continued to cry.

"What's the matter, moonbeam?" Xenophilius asked his daughter after she and Pandora had returned home.

Luna was sobbing too hard to answer him, but Pandora quickly filled him in on what had happened with Luna's ice cream. "Rotten luck, as they say," Xeno said sympathetically as he gently hugged the little girl and patted her on the back. Suddenly an idea hit him. "I think I know what'll make you feel better. Why don't you show your mummy and me your drawings?"

Luna nodded, still sniffling, and did as she was told, returning a minute later with a stack of her drawings. The first one was a detailed picture of their rook-shaped house and the garden surrounding it. "This is impressive!" said Xeno in awe. "What else do you have, moonbeam?"

The toddler held up a second picture; this one was the head of a Crumple-Horned Snorkack. Next came a group of Moon Frogs, followed by drawings of various other creatures, plus a picture of Luna standing between her mother and father, and one of Cedric Diggory.

Finally Luna held up a drawing of a boy with shoulder-length red hair and freckles. "Biww Weezwy," she explained. Pandora and Xeno looked at each other; Luna had only seen Bill once, and that was over a month ago. How she was able to remember his face so well was anybody's guess, but one thing was certain; their little girl had some incredible artistic talent.

"Isn't it wonderful, Xeno?" Pandora said proudly. "We have an artist in the family." Luna looked up at her parents and beamed.
