"Luna! Hey, Luna, wake up," Cedric whispered the next morning, gently shaking the little girl. Luna awake slowly; it took her a moment to remember where she was.
"Morning, Cedric," she said softly.
"Good morning, Luna. C'mon, let's see what's for breakfast," Cedric said, and the two of them rushed to the kitchen.
"What's that you've drawn, Luna?" Cedric asked later that afternoon. Luna held up her drawing and Cedric gasped in awe. "Is that me...with a Snitch in my hand?"
The little girl nodded. "Cedric play Seeker!"
"Yeah...maybe someday when I go to Hogwarts. What other drawings do you have?" Luna showed him the same drawings she had shown her parents.
"Wow!" exclaimed Cedric. "These are great! I wish I could draw as well as you do." The toddler beamed widely, then handed him the drawing of him as a Seeker.
"Is this for me?" Luna nodded. "Thanks! I'll keep it forever."
That night, Cedric and Luna were acting out another Quidditch match when Ophelia came in and announced it was time for bed.
"Mum, what if Luna has another accident?" Cedric asked.
"If she does, I have one more extra set of pajamas. Now go and brush your teeth while I tuck her in."
Cedric awoke the next morning to find Luna sitting up in her bed crying softly. Thinking at first that she had had another accident, he walked over to her and felt the covers. Finding them completely dry, he asked, "What's wrong?"
"I miss Mummy and Daddy," answered Luna.
"Well, they'll be back tonight. You'll see them soon."
"I want Mummy and Daddy now." The toddler cried harder.
"Tell you what," said Cedric. This morning I'll teach you how to fly. How does that sound?"
Luna squealed and clapped her hands together.
"Right," said Cedric as Luna was seated on his old toy broomstick; he had given her this to use as it would only take her a few inches above the ground, to ensure she didn't hurt herself too badly. "Make sure you grip the handle tightly; you don't want to slide off" - Luna did as she was told - "Now kick off like this," he finished, giving a demonstration on his own broomstick.
"Like this?" asked Luna, copying him.
"Very good!" Cedric told her. "Here's how you steer..." he continued, demonstrating; within minutes, Luna was flying in little circles around the yard.
"Atta girl, Luna," said Cedric. Just then Amos poked his head outside. "Everything all right out here?"
"Look I flying!" Luna cried happily as she continued flying in circles.
"Taught her everything she knows, did you, Ced?" Amos marched over to his son and clapped him proudly on the back. "That's my boy!"
"It's nothing, Dad," muttered an embarrassed Cedric, but his father wasn't listening; he went on about what a fine Quidditch player Cedric was going to be someday and how fortunate he was to have a friend who was willing to learn from him. The little boy finally managed to shake his father off by saying loudly that he needed to use the bathroom and rushing into the house, Luna hurrying in after him.
That evening, the two children were drawing pictures together when there was a knock at the door. "I'll get it, Mum!" Cedric called as he hurried to the door; he opened it to find Xenophilius and Pandora standing there. "LUNA! Your mum and dad are here!"
Luna came racing in and hugged her mother's leg tightly as Ophelia came behind her. "Was she any trouble?" Xeno asked.
"Well, she did wet the bed on the first night," answered Ophelia, "but other than that, no trouble at all."
"Good. We'd better get going then. Thank you for taking care of Luna. Goodbye!" Xeno said as the Lovegoods Flooed back home. After they left, Cedric once again looked at the drawing Luna had given him. Maybe I should try out for Seeker someday, he thought. That would be really cool...
"Did you have a good time at Cedric's sweetie?" asked Pandora.
Luna nodded. "I flied! Cedric teached me!"
"Did he now?" said Xeno. "Well, your mummy and I never did find a Three-Tongued, Plaid-Tailed Kroogbear" - Luna looked crestfallen - "but I'm sure we'll see one someday."
Luna's face suddenly brightened. "I catch one for you!"
"Really? You'll do that for us?" asked her father.
"Yes, when I'm big!"
"That would be something, wouldn't it, sweetie?" said Pandora as she tucked the two-year-old into bed. "Now, why don't you choose a bedtime story?"
