Hello Dear readers. Sorry it took so long, but I've finally finished the first chapter of my sequel to Bizarre North. Enjoy! :)

Chapter 1: From the Shadows

A full month had passed since Jack and the Guardians returned to the present. Since then Hiro had demolished his time machine and burned his blueprints, as well as deleted them, so that Jack's time traveling misadventures would never happen again. Jack was disappointed but understood the reasoning behind it. Everything seemed like a dream to him. Yet he could not recall what he witnessed in the past. Neither did the other Guardians. And yet life returned as usual. The Guardians returned to their duties of bringing joy to all of the children of the world. There were a few changes that the Guardians have noticed, such as the infamous Westergaard Company suddenly no longer exists. Jack thought it might be due to the implications of time travel.

But he thought nothing of it. For now he was heading to one place he always loves to visit most. Burgess, Pennsylvania. There he looked down from the sky and saw Jamie and his friends. Jamie Bennett, the first human boy to ever see him, was playing with Pippa, Monty, the twins Caleb and Claude, and Cupcake. All of them were racing each other on the nice grass as the sun shone high in the sky. Jack chuckled as he watched his friends play together. One of the kids won the race, though it was not sure who since Jack didn't pay attention all that much.

"That was cool!" Jamie said.

"Yeah!" Monty cheered.

"What should we play now?" Pippa asked.

"How about dodgeball!" Cupcake said.

"How about dodge-snowball!" Jack called out.

"Huh? Oof!" Jamie said as a snowball hit his face.

Jack laughed as he was the one who threw it. All the kids looked up and they all gaped it awe but then cheered as they saw their favorite Guardian of Fun.

"Jack!" They all cheered.

"How've you kids been?"

"We're having an awesome time of the day!" Claude said.

"Spring break is the best!" Caleb added.

"What? Naw! Nothing beats winter." Jack said, smugly.

"Except summer." Cupcake said.

"Hey!" Jack scoffed.

All the kids laugh

"Don't worry, Jack. I hate summer too."

"Oh, good." Jack sighed in relief. "So…"

Jack stood up forming a snowball in his hand.

"How about I give you a 5 second head start."

All the kids giggled and laughed as they ran away and Jack started throwing snowballs at them. They ducked and ducked in cover. Some dodged, most got hit, and the rest tried firing back. Of course Jack provided ammo for them since it would be unfair. They all had a happy time until Jack decided to play other games with the kids. He would do comedy routines of pretending to be made up creatures in a goofy fashion. All the kids laughed. Then they played other games like simon says, hide and seek, which Jack could win but chose not to since he loved to play with kids, and of course hopscotch.

Jack couldn't help but remember his little sister Mary. They would play that game everyday. That is until they played for the last time when Jack sacrificed himself to save her from falling through the ice. Thankfully he knew that Jamie was her descendant and he promised to look after him no matter what and to the entire family line until the end.

As the sun set the kids all said goodbye to each other before leaving for their homes. Jack stayed behind to walk Jamie home.

"We definitely had fun today." Jack said.

"We sure did." Jamie said.

"Sorry I'm not always around."

"Don't worry. I know you have Guardian duties."

Jack smiled proudly at Jamie. He was certainly growing up for one at his age.

"Oh! That reminds me. I got another book the other day." Jamie said.

"Really? What is it about?" Jack asked with interest.

"It was written by Hans Christian Anderson called The Snow Queen. Snedronningen in Danish." Jamie said.

Jack quirked an eyebrow up with interest.

"Oh? A Snow Queen you say?" Jack asked.

"Yeah. I guess she's just like you in a way. Who knows, maybe she's out there somewhere." Jamie said.

"Pft. Come on Jamie. It's just a fairy tale." Jack scoffed a giggle.

"But didn't you come from a fairy tale?" Jamie smirked a retort.

"Touche." Jack chuckled.

Both boys laughed together.

"Okay so you made your point. But let's say she is real. Where would she be?" Jack asked.

"Dunno." Jamie shrugged.

"Oh you're REAL helpful." Jack snarked sarcastically.

"Hi, sweetie!" Called his mother.

"Hi, mom!" Jamie called back. "See you later, Jack!"

"See ya later, kiddo!" Jack waved.

After Jamie went into his house, Jack leaped into the air and flew high up in the sky. He stopped mid flight and stayed hovering in the air and stared at the moon. It was full tonight. Jack smiled as he knew who was on that big lunar space rock and who was watching over things from there from afar.

"Thanks for always being there for us. For me." Jack said.

He of course was talking to the Man in the Moon himself. After a while Jack flew over the rest of Burgess. Seeing all the little lights like a magic moment in a painting. As he flew over the neighborhood, something happened.

"Jack…"

Jack stopped instantly mid flight after hearing what appeared to be a woman's voice whispering in the wind.

"Huh? Who's that?" Jack said as he looked around.

"Jack…"

The woman's voice whispered again. Jack looked around to where that voice was coming from and seemed to be coming from the forest. Jack flew down for a closer investigation. He landed on the grass under the tall trees and started looking around, staff in hand and at the ready.

"Jack…"

"Who's there!?" Jack called out.

"Jack…"

"Show yourself!" Jack said demandingly.

"Jack…!"

Jack quickly turned around and saw something that made him stare in awe and confusion. A silhouetted figure of pure white light. Jack couldn't make out who it was, but he could tell it was a woman's figure despite the wavy disfigurement. He couldn't make out who it was. But then he saw at the feet was a goose. This only added to the confusion.

"Who are you…?" Jack asked with caution.

"Jack… You must remember who you were…" Said the ghostly woman.

"Huh? What? What does that even mean? Who are you!?" Jack said in confusion.

But then suddenly the goose flew away, just in time for a Nightmare Stallion to sneak up and attack through the silhouette.

"WHOA!" Jack gawked as he leapt out of the way just in time.

In response Jack raised his staff at the creature and fired a stream of ice at it, destroying it. But of course as we all know, nothing is that simple. Jack heard the familiar sound of disfigured horse trotting. He quickly looked around and saw more Nightmares coming out from the trees. Jack still stands at the ready as they slowly advance towards him in a taunting and daunting manner. One took a chance and charged towards him, then the rest followed suit one by one, one after another.

Jack instantly responded as he leapt up into the air and fired ice at a number of Nightmares, destroying them. However others leapt up into the air and flew after him as Jack. Jack soured high in the sky, before turning to face the creatures and flying backwards. Firing ice from his staff hitting and destroying Nightmares one by one. However a bunch more got the drop on him as they rammed into him and sent him hurtling down to the ground. Smashing through trees and breaking branches, Jack landed on his back with a hard thud. But he quickly got up and jumped out of the way just in time before a stampede of aerial Nightmares smacked to the ground. Not wasting any time, Jack focused all his Winter magic on the deforemed pile of sand and froze it up good before it could reform again.

Jack gasped and breathed a sigh of relief as he breathed for air. He was tired and exhausted from this ordeal. He dealt with Nightmares before. But this time they felt a little more aggressive than usual. Just then he heard clapping from somewhere behind him. He turned round fast and he saw the master of those Nightmares himself.

Pitch Black.

"Very well done, Jack. Good to see you haven't lost your cold touch." He said, smiling his signature sinister smirk.

"And it's good to know you're still up to your old tricks, Pitch." Jack said, sternly. "What do you want?"

"I figured I would give you a bit of a heads up. And I did."

"What? That you're coming back? Geez, spoiler alert." Jack joked.

"Oh I'm not spoiling anything really. Just a Teaser of what's to come." Pitch joked back.

"At least you're well cultured in a way." Jack said. "And what teaser might that be?"

"Ah, not THAT would be spoiling. I'll see you around soon, Jack."

And with that Pitch turned and left into the darkness.

"Wait!" Jack called out.

But it was too late. Pitch was already gone.

"How does he even do that?"

Jack didn't have time to ponder as he looked down and saw the black sand remains of the long dead Nightmare. He bent down and scooped up and hand pulled and placed it in his hoodie pocket.

"North would want to know about this."

Without hesitation Jack leapt up into the air.

"Wind! Take me to the North Pole!"

Upon his command the wind lifted and pushed Jack at the fastest flight it could, straight towards the North Pole.

Meanwhile at the North Pole, the factories were busy as usual as assembly lines of toys, dvd's and video games were being developed and produced at a fine pace. Just to North's liking. North oversaw everything as his operations to make sure everything went smoothly.

"Good work everybody!" He would always say to both his Yetis and Elves.

As North continued to walk around his home, he felt a cold breeze.

"Jeff, did you leave the window wide open again?" He asked one of the Yetis.

The Yeti in question, the one named, Jeff, spoke in its native tongue meaning no he didn't.

"Then why do I feel a chill? Unless…" He pondered.

"North!" Jack's voice called out.

North looked and saw Jack coming in, flying frantically.

"Ah, Jack! Good to see you my friend!" North bellowed a friendly greeting. "Here to sneak a peek at presents? Sorry but must wait until Christmas."

"No, North. It's not that." Jack said as he removed the black sand from his pocket.

Showing it to North, the big red jolly man's smile instantly turned to wide eyed horror. So did the Yetis who gasped and gawked at the black stuff. North marched forward and stared intently at the black sand in Jack's palm.

"Where did you find this!?" North demanded in a low tone of voice.

"I was ambushed by Nightmares. Then ran into you know who." Jack explained simply and briefly.

"Pitch?"

"The one and only."

Just then another Yeti burst in on the scene, rambling in his native tongue about the moon shining in the globe room.

"Mani is calling?" North asked.

Both he and Jack quickly made their way to the globe room where they arrived just in time to see Mani shine a lunar light on the floor. The light manipulated shadows and formed them into Pitch Black's figure.

"It is Pitch." North said. "And right when the feeling in my belly is on vacation." He joked.

Jack made a brief chuckle, albeit a low one.

"Boys? Make preparations." North ordered his Yetis. "We're about to have company."

Hope you all enjoyed the first chapter. See ya next time! :)
