Interlude

"That rotten Master!" little Amy retorted, sitting at the table in the kitchen, her little feet kicking the air as she played with her cereal. "How come he didn't want the Doctor's help?"

"Some people think they can by on their own without any help at all," Olivia explained, setting a glass of orange juice next to Amy before ruffling her inky curls, making the little one giggle. "Stop playing with your food, and eat up. When daddy gets home we're all going somewhere fun."

Amy cheered, leaning over her bowl to eat her cereal in earnest as Olivia chuckled at her daughter and sat across from her with her own bowl of cereal. They were silent for a moment as Amy wolfed down her food, then slurped at her milk from the bowl. She placed the bowl on the table and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, making Olivia chuckle as she ate, calmly.

"Tell me another story, mommy!" Amy pleaded, pushing her bowl aside to pull her orange juice in front of her and start drinking.

"Not now, sweetie," Olivia smiled. "I just finished a big one. Maybe dad can tell you the next one on the way."

"Aw, but I like the way you tell them," Amy pouted, reaching into her lap and lifting her doll to the table to make it dance.

Olivia smiled warmly as she watched Amy make her little doll with floppy brown hair and a bowtie dance with his arms in the air. The jingle of keys and the sounds of the lock shifting caught their attention, and before Olivia could even announce who it was, Amy was out of her seat, still clutching her doll and running toward the front door. Olivia smiled as she stood to follow her, turning the corner just in time to see a tall man with a mop of curly black hair on his head in a suit…blue suede shoes on his feet.

"Daddy!" Amy cheered, running up to him as he beamed with a grin, leaning down to pluck her up into his arms. She giggled as he hugged her close, her tiny arms wrapping around his neck, letting him nuzzle her cheek before planting kisses all over her face. "Daddy! Daddy! Mommy was telling me a story!"

"Ooh! How lovely!" he grinned, walking toward the kitchen, meeting Olivia halfway down the hall. About the Doctor and Mrs. Sigma?"

"Uh-huh," Amy smiled with a huge nod. "The Master tried to steal the TARDIS, but they didn't let him."

"Oh, that's a good one," he nodded before turning to Olivia as they stopped in the hall and she grinned up at him, wrapping her arms around him to pin their daughter between them, squishing her and making her giggle, hysterically. "Mummy's a good story teller, isn't she?"

"Yeah!" Amy cheered as Olivia pulled away to let him set her down and they continued toward the kitchen.

"Amy, go get your shoes on and brush your teeth," Olivia smiled, ruffling her hair again. "We'll be leaving in a bit."

"Daddy! Where are we going?!" Amy smiled up at him as they stopped at the fork leading to the bedrooms.

"Well if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise now, would it?" he smirked, ruffling her hair as well. "Go on and do as you're told. And bring a jacket."

"So somewhere cold," Amy nodded before turning to the head toward her room. "I'll change into something warmer!"

"Not too warm!" Olivia called, making the little girl stop and look at them with a mischievous grin as she rocked on her feet.

"So where we going?" the little girl nearly sang, adopting her father's accent, making Olivia roll her eyes. She only ever used the accent when she really wanted something…and it always made her father give in. He frowned and pouted before turning it to Olivia and silently pleading with his bluer than blue eyes that she give in with him.

"It's your surprise," she retorted, holding her hands up as she walked toward the kitchen to clean the table. "You figure out whether or not you wanna ruin it."

He watched her walk away, pouting even further before looking back to Amy as she still grinned at the other end of the hallway. He squinted at her suspiciously before waving her toward her room.

"Go do as your mother says," he ordered, making her pout and slump her tiny shoulders before she dragged her feet toward her room. He groaned and was about to call out to her, but a hand slapped over his mouth, another hand gripping his arm and dragging him toward the kitchen. Olivia sat him in the chair at the table before stepping toward the counter as he watched her.

"Thanks," he sighed in relief. "I wasn't sure I could last, seeing her skulk away like that."

"You giving in so easily is gonna be a problem for us later on, you know, Theta?" she scolded, cooking something over the stove, and he smiled, lazily as he set his chin on his hand while he leaned on the table with his elbow.

"I know," he sighed as she placed something on a plate from the pan on the stove. "Sorry."

"No you're not," she snickered, lifting the plate, grabbing a knife and fork and stepping toward the table to sit across from him.

"Nah, I'm not," he smirked as she set the plate in front of him and he grinned down at it. "Oh! Liv's Famous Pancakes! What's the flavor of the day, darling?"

"Chocolate chip and custard," she smiled, standing again as he dug into the pancakes and she stood behind him to ruffle his curls then wrapped her arms around his shoulders to hug him from behind, her chin resting on his shoulder. "I missed my Doctor."

He smiled through a mouthful of pancake before gently nudging her away to shift the chair back and pull her into his lap. She grinned as she wrapped her arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her closer, both gazing at each other with loving smiles.

"I missed my Liv," he murmured back, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "And my little Amelia. And getting to do this…"

He trailed off as he took one of her hands and pressed a kiss to the back of it as she smiled down at him.

"And this…"He lifted his other hand to brush her raven hair from her neck and leaned forward to press a warm, lingering kiss to her pulse, making her sigh.

"But most of all," he whispered, releasing her hand to take her chin into his fingers and bring her gaze to his again. "…I missed this…"

He pressed his lips to hers, not waiting a moment before deepening it and making her sigh again as she tightened her arm around his neck. She pulled back with a content smile and pressed her forehead against his.

"I missed that, too," she breathed, and they remained in each other's arms, unmoving until they heard the thumping of little footsteps running down the hall and toward their position.

Just as Amy rounded into the kitchen, Olivia shot to her feet and the Doctor turned back to his pancakes. She adjusted her TARDIS blue jacket on her little shoulders, holding onto her Little Doctor doll before she looked up and noticed what her father was eating.

"Daddy, are those Mommy's Famous Pancakes?!" she squeaked as she stopped next to him.

"They certainly are," he nodded, looking to her. "You want some?"

"Yeah!" Amy grinned as Olivia sat in the empty chair at the table.

"Come here, my little nebula," he smiled, lifting Amy to set her on his knee, one hand reaching for his fork to cut off a piece for her. "Chocolate chip and custard."

"Yum!" Amy cheered before looking up at him with huge, blue eyes. "Make the noise! Make the noise!"

The Doctor grinned before making the TARDIS noise as he fed her one bite, then cutting a piece for himself. Olivia smiled as she watched them hand the fork back and forth to have a bite each turn. She loved how the two of them were thick as thieves, and she knew their bond would only strengthen after this little trip.

"Liv," he called, pulling her out of her reverie and she smiled at him. "Can you go get that thing out of the spare bedroom?"

"Sure," she smiled, knowingly as she stood then made her way to the hallway as he kept Amy on his knee, handing the fork to her to let her have the last bite of pancake.

"Mommy's pancakes are the best!" she grinned through a mouthful of food, making the Doctor chuckle as he looked down at her with a warm smile.

"Yes, they are," he nodded, pressing a kiss to her head as she set the fork down. "Do you know, the first time your mum made me pancakes, I think that was when I fell in love with her?"

"Really?" she grinned as she lifted her Little Doctor doll to make him dance on the table again, and the Doctor couldn't help but smile proudly at the sight. "What kind were they?"

"They were banana flavored," he replied just as Olivia strolled back into the room, holding something behind her back.

Amy looked up at him with wide eyes, grinning, "That's the same kind Mrs. Sigma made for the Doctor when they first met!"

"I know," he nodded, smiling down warmly at her as he lifted a hand to smooth her curls then looked to Olivia and nodded.

"Sweetie," Olivia called, pulling a wrapped object out and handing it to Amy who turned back to her with wide eyes. "Grandma Joyce made this for you. It's from all three of us."

Amy frowned before looking up at her father and he nodded permission before she turned back and took the present from her mother to start tearing at the wrapping, both parent's grinning as they watched her. Her little hands stopped when most of the wrapping was pulled away and her eyes widened, along with her grin.

"A new doll!" she cheered, lifting it from the wrappings, but she frowned in wonder as she began examining it. "This one looks like daddy!"

"And, it looks like someone else we know very well, too," Olivia smiled, mischievously, making Amy look up at her in wide-eyed wonder. "You remember when I told you what the Doctor looked like after he regenerated the last time in our story?"

"Uh-huh," Amy grinned with a huge nod, playing with her new doll, but she suddenly froze, her eyes widening as she stared at the doll before looking up at her father.

He smiled when he saw the realization in her eyes and she shifted on his knee, glancing between him and her new doll…who she now knew was the new Doctor.

"Daddy?"

"Yes, Amelia?"

"Are…Are you…the Doctor?" Amy breathed, staring at him in anticipation.

The Doctor smiled warmly at his daughter, glancing at Olivia once and keeping her in suspense before he finally lifted her from his knee and set her down to stand and take her free hand in his.

"I'm gonna show you something, and I'll let you decide, ok?" he smiled, and she only nodded in silence, letting him lead her toward the hallway as Olivia gathered up the paper and her other Doctor doll left on the table.

The three strolled down the hall, past the master bedroom, past Amy's bedroom and past the guest bedroom where she knew her Uncle Aaron sometimes stayed, toward the door her parents had told her not to open. She glanced between her parents when they stopped at the door, and they only smiled down at her before the Doctor gripped the knob of the door and opened it.

When Amy looked inside her eyes widened as her jaw dropped at the sight of the big blue box her mother had described in so many of the stories about the Doctor and Mrs. Sigma.

"The TARDIS!" she breathed, running into the room and stopping in front of it to touch it and stare at it. Something suddenly crossed her mind, making her turn to her parents with a suspicious gaze and they both frowned at her in wonder until she reported, "You could've made this out of wood. If it's the real TARDIS, it'll be bigger on the inside."

"Ooh, you're as quick as your mum," the Doctor grinned, reaching into his pocket as they both approached the TARDIS and he unlocked the door while Amy watched him, closely. He pushed the door open and bowed grandly, smiling, "After you, milady."

Amy turned and peaked into the doorway, her eyes widening once more as she took slow steps over the threshold and into the box…staring huge eyes at the console. The Doctor and Olivia stepped in behind her, shutting the door behind them as Amy stared at the console then around at the room.

"Well, my little comet," he smiled, making Amy look to them as they stood at the door. "Am I the Doctor?"

Amy stared around the control room once more before grinning, her eyes filled with excitement as she bolted toward them and he leaned down to catch her when she threw herself at him.

"My daddy's the Doctor!" she cheered, hugging him so tight, her almost couldn't breathe, but he loved it. Olivia watched them with tears forming in her eyes as he stood up, still holding Amy as she looked to her mother. "And my mommy is Mrs. Sigma!"

She hugged her as well, the Doctor letting her crawl out of his arms and into her mother's, letting him race toward the console to start the engines.

"Now for a little trip!" he announced, as Olivia set Amy down and the little girl ran toward the console to watch him operate. "What do you say, Liv? How about some place with a beach?"

"Aurora?!" Amy grinned up at him before they both looked to Olivia…but she didn't look as excited as they did. "Can we, mommy?! Please!"

"I…I don't know if we should go so far on her first trip," Olivia reported, hurrying toward the Doctor to stand on the other side of him as he frowned at her in wonder at her concern. "What if something happens?"

"Darling, it's Aurora," he reminded her. "Nothing happens there, remember? We'll be fine. No longer than an hour, I promise."

Olivia took in a sigh, but as soon as she looked to Amy's excited eyes, her concern fell away and she smiled, nodding, "Alright. But just an hour."

"Yay!" the Doctor and Amy both cheered before he turned to piloting the TARDIS, grinning, "Hold on you two!"

The TARDIS thrashed, making Amy stumble slightly, but the Doctor reached out and grabbed her little hand to keep her close, racing toward Olivia to hand her off to her, still operating the console.

"Mommy! It's the noise!" Amy grinned, so excited she didn't even care about the thrashing of the room. "I love that noise!"

"So do we, sweetie," Olivia grinned just before the TARDIS shuddered to a halt and the Doctor raced toward them and knelt down to Amy's height.

"Now, Amelia, this is serious," he began, making her look to him in wide-eyed wonder. "I have to tell you before you go outside this door. You can't tell anyone about this. This is the family secret. You can talk to Granny Joyce, Uncle Aaron, Uncle Jack, and anyone else we tell you is ok to talk to, alright?"

"Yup!" she chirped with a huge nod.

"Pinky swear," he smiled, holding out his pinky and she grabbed it with her own before they shook then lifted their other hands and high-fived each other. She turned and offered her pinky to her mother, and Olivia grasped her pinky then high-fived her as well.

"Right!" the Doctor grinned, taking Olivia's hand and Amy's free hand, her new Doctor doll tucked under her arm. "Andiamo!"

"Allons-y!" Olivia grinned as she gripped the knob and opened the door.

"Geronimo!" Amy cheered, pulling on her father's arm as she ran out the door, leading the train out of the TARDIS, the door shutting behind them.
