Sam was amazed. He had noticed things were... Odd... Between this hunter and his brother, that something had happened, but he never imagined it was this.

Sam was not homophobic, but to his credit, he really didn't think Dean swung that way. Well, no, he had his suspicions, but he never, not in a million years, thought that Dean might actually get involved with a guy.

So forgive him for his moment of surprise. He didn't mean to come out as a condescending, judgemental brother he must have seemed like, when his eyes bugged out and he stuttered Dean's previous statement in a form of an outraged question.

It hurt. It hurt to see that look in his brother's eyes, because Sam was truly happy that Dean felt comfortable enough to step out and do something they both knew their father might have disproved of. Luckily, Dean understood it was just a momentary confusion and nothing more.

Still, after hearing Dean invite Mike into their home, into their lives, he couldn't help but feel amazed. Amazed and worried. Dean had never allowed himself to feel so much to allow someone into their hunting lives. Perhaps it had something to do with Mike being a guy and a hunter himself, or maybe Dean was just sick of their lives being one badly written best seller, but either way, Sam was feeling kind of protective, and at the same time, he didn't want to seem overbearing. So he decided to keep an eye on the guy.

Sam was amazed... Alright, astonished. He was astonished at how quickly Mike gathered all of his stuff, as little as he decided to bring, and the supplies they would need and where the fuck did he get that stretcher? And the best part? He did it all while Dean slept.

Sure, Sam helped as much as he could, considering the guy couldn't really tell him what he could do. He could just point and mimic with his hands and half of the time, Sam had no idea what he wanted. But Mike never got angry or annoyed, he would always just smile politely and proceed to do it himself.

"Bacon pancakes with a side of bacon? Yeah, no wonder he likes you." Sam commented with a smile, seeing a tray clearly set for Dean. Mike returned the small smile, shrugged, then turned to fetch another tray. He turned back around, lifted his brows in a questioning way and pushed the tray towards Sam. "Are these... Egg whites with spinach, and a side of... What is... Banana fruit yogurt?" Mike nodded while Sam made a face of appreciation. "Keep it up and you'll win me over in no time." The comment was light, teasing and it made Mike huff a laugh.

"He is mine, Sam!" Dean yelled from the bedroom making Sam burst out laughing. They went to the bedroom and had their breakfast, Dean stuffing his face with it and Mike just smiling back at him. Sam observed them, a small smile on his face as he watched his brother moan at the taste and talk with his mouth full and Mike having absolutely no problem with that. He watched his brother as Dean tried to reach out and touch the man as much as he could without making it awkward and he watched as Mike did the same, albeit a lot more sheepishly.

The most interesting part was when Mike picked up their empty trays and was just about to get up, when Dean grabbed his hand, pulled him closer and kissed him. Sam didn't know why, but something soft stirred in his chest. His brother was happy. And Sam couldn't be more thrilled for him.

Mike was... An interesting character. He was shy and compliant and easygoing, but had no problem ordering Dean to do something he thought would be best for him. Like getting him to lay on the stretcher and showing him that he and Sam would carry him, despite the fact that Dean wanted to try and walk. Dean sulked, but did as he was told with far less complaints then if the idea came from Sam.

They made good progress and by noon they were over half way there. Since he was the lead, Mike turned and nudged his head, and Sam was yet again amaz... astounded how Dean could just instantly understand him. "Yeah, you guys should take a break." His brother commented and Sam agreed. Despite being much larger in size, Dean was still heavy and frankly, Sam's arms were starting to become a bit numb.

While Sam sat on a nearby rock, Mike rummaged through his backpack, procured two bottles not water, one of which he gave to Sam, the other to Dean. Sam watched with amusement as Dean quirked a brow at the man, took one long pull out of the bottle, grabbed Mike and gave him a fierce kiss, then shoved the half empty bottle in his hand and quirked his brows again. Mike sighed, looking a bit embarrassed, and drank the rest.

One would draw a conclusion that Mike forgot to pack an extra bottle, but as it turned out, he was saving it.

They continued after about twenty minutes, and managed to reach town just around three in the afternoon. Sam wanted to take Dean to an actual doctor ("No offense, Mike."), but Dean declined, saying the faster they are on the road, the faster they could get to the bunker and if Cas was there, he would heal him.

This was the first time Sam noticed a frown on Mike's face and it was at the mention of Castiel's name. But considering the hunter knew exactly who Sam was back at the cabin, logic would state he knew who Castiel was too, especially since Dean mentioned healing. Maybe he heard the stories? Could it be a pang of jealousy? Sam couldn't tell for sure, but was still amused by it.

The second time Mike showed emotion was when he laid his eyes on Baby. He stared at it for a long time, his eyes following every curve of the car's body, his expression... Stupefied would be the word Sam would use.

No wonder Dean liked him.

While Sam opted to drive, the two of them settled in the back, Dean's foot propped in Mike's lap. Sam picked up some burgers from a local diner, and it wasn't long before the man was lightly snoring in the back, Dean watching him with soft eyes.

"He really is something, isn't he?" Sam quipped.

"You have no idea..."

"You guys look good together." Sam said and Dean pff-ed at him, but still ducked his eyes and blushed just a little bit. "I mean it, Dean. I am glad you found someone."

"He found me." Dean replied and there was a lot more meaning to that, but Sam let it go. They were silent for a little while before Dean spoke up again.

"You think he'll freak over Cas and Jack?" Angels weren't a novelty lately, but Jack was the son of Lucifer, and since Sam knew Dean would be upfront about who they were, he still doubted Mike would mind.

"If he saw you naked, and he hadn't freaked then, I think we're good."

"Bitch."

"I think it's the other way around now?"

"Shuddup."

Author's Notes: This will probably be the only chapter with Sam's POV, I wanted to show him observing his brother with his partner and how Mike simply grows on him. Next up: Meet the rest of the family. Now this should be exciting.
