Luna was sitting on her bed busily drawing when she spotted something that made her gasp in horror - Newt was holding Twinkles the stuffed unicorn in his paws and was now chewing on his horn.

"Newt, no!" the little girl cried, snatching Twinkles away and massaging his horn. "Are you okay, Twinkles?"

"Luna! Suppertime!" Pandora called from downstairs.

"Coming, Mummy!" Luna called back before turning to Newt sternly. "That was very naughty, Newt. You don't hurt my stuffed animals. No bitey, no chewie, no scratchie. Understand?" The cat mewed sadly.

Several moments later while everyone was seated around the kitchen table, Luna asked, "Mummy, can Ginny sleep over tomorrow?" Pandora was silent for a moment as she thought it over.

"Please, Mummy?" begged Luna. "We haven't had her over for a long time."

"Hmmmm...I suppose it couldn't hurt," Pandora replied. "But I'll need to check with her mother."

Meanwhile, at the Burrow, Molly was working with Ginny on her multiplication tables; today they were working on the 3's. "One times three is...?" asked Molly.

"Three," answered Ginny.

"Very good. Two times three?"

"Six."

"That's right. Three times - " Before Molly could finish, Percy stepped into the kitchen. "Mother, Mrs. Lovegood wants to have a word with you." Under his breath he added, "And she had better not be bringing her freak of a daughter over here again."

A while later, Ginny informed Bill and Charlie that she would be sleeping over at Luna's house the following night. "Are you, now?" said Charlie.

"You know, Ginny," added Bill, "I'm a bit surprised you two have been getting along so well. Luna's fun to be around but she's also kind of weird."

"She's not weird!" protested Ginny.

"If you say so," said Charlie, shrugging. "'Course, even if she isn't weird her dad certainly is, and it seems to have rubbed off on her mom a bit too."

As the six-year-old girl was lying in bed that night, she couldn't help but think, Could Bill and Charlie be right? Is Luna really as weird as they say she is?

Luna was sitting on the sofa happily swinging her feet and humming to herself when Ginny arrived through the fireplace the following evening. "Hello!" she said, running over to greet the redhead.

"Hi, Luna," Ginny replied. The two girls ran up to Luna's room to play with Luna's animal figurines, and while they were playing, Luna suddenly started waving her arms around her head. "What're you doing that for?" asked Ginny.

"I thought I felt a Wrackspurt flying around," replied Luna, waving her arms even harder.

Ginny frowned. "I don't feel anything," she said. Luna kept flapping for a minute more before saying, "I think it's left now." They continued playing until Pandora called them for suppertime.

"Mummy, Daddy," Luna said after supper, "can Ginny and I go outside for a bit? I wanna look for Nodderomps with her." Xenophilius had written an article about those creatures the previous day and Luna was eager to see some for herself, plus since Ginny was here it would be great if she got to see them too.

The wizard thought for a moment before replying, "All right, but be back before bedtime." Pandora nodded in agreement.

"What are Nodderomps?" asked Ginny as the two girls ran outside.

"They look a lot like bunnies," answered Luna, "but they only come out at night and they eat bugs and worms instead of carrots. They're also a lot bolder than bunnies, and their tails glow in the dark when they're happy."

They kept walking until they were a good distance away from the Rook, then Luna let out a very strange sound which was a cross between a roar and a wail.

"Now what are you doing?!" Ginny demanded.

"I'm calling the Nodderomps to let them know we're not going to hurt them." She made the strange call again before turning to Ginny. "You need to call them too."

"But Luna - !"

"They won't come out if you don't call them."

Feeling like an idiot, Ginny gave the same call Luna had made; hers showed much less enthusiasm than the blonde's had. The two girls waited for about 15 minutes before Luna spotted something. "Look!" she cried. "There's one now!"

Ginny took a closer look at it and frowned at Luna. "It's just a regular bunny," she told her. They continued to wait; after a while, Ginny asked, "Can we go back inside now, please?"

"All right," replied Luna. As they headed back to the Rook, she added, "I think I know why no Nodderomps came out. You didn't call for them like you meant it."

"Or maybe they just don't exist?" Ginny suggested.

"Yes they do," argued Luna, right before she started skipping and humming softly to herself, Ginny hurrying to keep up.

"Bill and Charlie were right," she said. "You really are weird!"

The next day, after Ginny had gone home, Luna spoke to Newt. "I don't think Ginny likes me very much anymore," she said sadly. Indeed, the redhead had barely spoken to her since they'd returned to the Rook, and she kept her distance as though she thought Luna was going to bite her.

The cat rubbed himself against the little girl and purred, making her smile. "At least you still love me, don't you?" Luna said happily. "And I've still got Cedric." At that moment Pandora walked in.

"Hi, sweetie," she said softly. "I'm sorry about what happened with you and Ginny."

"You don't have to apologize, Mummy," Luna told her. "It's like you and Daddy always say - I shouldn't change myself just to please others. Maybe one day Ginny will decide she wants to play with me again, but till then I've still got you and Daddy and Newt and Cedric."

Pandora smiled and hugged the six-year-old. "That's my girl."

A/N: Poor Luna. :( These things happen sometimes, sad to say. At least she's taking it well. And don't worry; in a few years Ginny will start to really appreciate Luna, eccentricities and all, especially when the two of them are attending Hogwarts.
