Lily's eyes fluttered open and she groaned, moving to stretch. Her arm hit a solid body, that made a noise back at her. She squinted, just making out James Potter's outline in the small amount of daylight starting to peek through the curtains.
She blinked a few times. Memories of last night flashed through her mind. None of these helped her remember how she ended up tangled in James' arms on the Gryffindor common room couch.
She made an effort to shuffle out of his arms. The entire common room was a mess. Furniture displaced everywhere with alcohol bottles and food scattered. A few other students had passed out down here as well in various states. The most amusing were the random second years on the floor lying flat on their backs.
Looking around, Lily vaguely began to remember closing her eyes and letting herself drift off down here, leaning against James. It seemed like too much effort to get to the girls' dorms and really, she had been quite comfortable.
Now, she felt like the entire room was on fire from the heat from his body. She finally rolled herself off the couch and hit the floor. She grumbled at the pain while stumbling to stand up, trying not to make a lot of noise. Her destination was her own bed.
She felt like a wreck, still in her uniform shirt and skirt, and she knew the headache brewing was going to be hell. Maybe sleeping in her own nice, comfy bed would help.
That was cut short since the door was locked and it wasn't budging. Now, Lily was a smart witch, and a simple charm could just get this stupid door open. It's all that was standing in between her and her beauty sleep.
But she didn't have her wand. It could've came off with the various clothing she left around the common room or maybe she just never had it at all, leaving it in her dorm room. Either way, this wasn't what she wanted to deal with right now.
The only solution seemed to be kicking the door and trying to wake her roommates up. After a few minutes, she perked up at the sound of a door opening before fuzzily registering it was not her own.
Remus appeared at the bottom of the stairs.
"Lily?!"
She spun around sheepishly.
"Sorry Rem, I'm locked out," she mumbled.
He shook his head and gestured for her to come down. Lily made her way down the stairs to him, trying to cross her arms to hide her undone shirt but he just ushered her along.
"Just come in our room," Remus murmured to her. "I don't know how to fight with the stairs at this hour."
She sighed, nodding in agreement and allowed him to steer her upstairs. She followed him awkwardly into their room and stood by the door. He shut it and went to a trunk, rummaging around and grabbing a shirt. He tossed it and a pair of boxers to her.
Lily caught it, looking down at them and it seemed like it was someone's Quidditch jersey. She went to ask who's it was, clearly already knowing the answer, but Remus hushed her, pointing to Wormtail sleeping away with Mary tucked against him.
She bit her lip. 'At least I'm not the only girl in here, I suppose.'
Lily sighed quietly and changed as fast as she could without stumbling. She threw her clothes on top off the trunk that Remus opened, and sat down on the bed next to his.
He was sitting crossed legged, facing the wall waiting for her to finish.
She softly cleared her throat and he turned, smiling at her.
"Get some sleep, Lil." She nodded at him, settling back onto the bed. She wasn't even sure who's bed it was, but it really could only be Sirius or James'.
She curled up on her side, burying her head in the pillow. Inhaling, she vaguely registered that it was definitely not James' bed she was in as she drifted it off to sleep.

And that's how Sirius Black found Lily Evans in his bed in the morning.
He had been among the ones to fall asleep in the common room. Marlene had fallen asleep on an armchair and he was on the floor next to her.
You can imagine sleeping on the dirty common room floor after a party was not a great start to someone's morning. So after a nice, long, hot shower, Sirius dragged himself to his bed and intended to collapse on it. Imagine his surprise when a red-head already occupied it.
He blinked, unsure of what to do. He clutched his towel and figured he should at least be dressed, before she woke up and murdered him, when the door to their room swung open.
That's how James Potter found his best friend. A towel around his hips, dripping from a shower and Lily Evans curled up under his covers.
James' jaw dropped. He knew Lily had fallen asleep next to him and when he woke up, assumed she was embarrassed and went to her room. He never would've in a million years thought she would be in his room, in his best friends bed.
Sirius blinked again, realizing how the scene looked.
"Prongs, mate, I just got here, I didn't even know-"
He was cut off by Lily stirring and moaning.
"Shut the damn fuck up, whoever you are, you wanker," she grumbled. She vaguely realized it was not normal to hear Sirius as soon as she woke up and sat up.
Lily stared at Sirius, who was hanging to his towel for dear life and James, who just stared at the two of them like they had three heads.
The covers fell away and revealed her borrowed Quidditch jersey, with the last name "POTTER" in big letters.
James' eyes flew immediately to the shirt and he smirked despite himself. Sirius chuckled when he saw it as well, shaking his head.
Lily was annoyed. The two of them seemed to be in on some joke, and she felt like it was rude to not be included.
She threw the covers off to stand up and leave, but James crossed the room and grabbed her arm.
"Evans, I see you missed us so much you came for a sleepover."
She snorted, lightly smacking away his arm. "I just got locked out of my dorm and Remus kindly bought me in here."
His jersey was big on her and fell to her mid-thigh, but James could see his boxers peeking out from under the jersey. He could kiss Remus right now. The sight of Lily half-awake, messy hair from sleeping and in his clothes was maddening.
He politely steered her toward his bed and pushed her down. She bounced on the bed, blinking up at him.
He drew the curtains around the bed as Sirius snickered. He sat down next to her, smiling lightly. She smiled shyly back.
"Why don't you get some more sleep? I think you gave Sirius a heart attack, love," James murmured. He pushed a lock of hair behind her ear and she fought the shiver that went down her spine.
She closed her eyes and bit her lip, leaning into his touch and James had to stop himself from leaning forward to also bite her lip.
Lily couldn't deny her exhaustion. She had been up and down all morning since waking up in the common room. There was also the fact that if she got to her dorm and it was still locked, Lily would feel more inclined to murder all of her friends. In the effort of staying out of prison, it only made sense to stay in James Potters' bed.
This was the logic Lily told herself as she agreed with him. She settled under his covers and made herself comfortable, watching him.
James' eyes had a haze over them, staring at her with a look that burned right through her. This time, she didn't fight the shiver down her spine as he leaned over and kissed her forehead. She closed her eyes again and felt a smile spread on her face.
The bed moved as he stood up and she listened to his footsteps quietly walk into the bathroom as she inhaled deeply.
'Oh yes, this was definitely James Potters' bed,' Lily mused as she let sleep take over her once again.
