Hey everybody and welcome back, I hope your all staying safe and healthy in these difficult times and I apologize for the LONG wait for the third chapter but I have had my hands full lately but without further delay
Here we go
Chapter 3 Calm before the storm
(The next day)
As the mysterious water creature escaped, the police were trying to figure out what it was and who sent it meanwhile Knuckles the Echidna arrived at Station Square, he was tracking the Master emerald shards and the watery monster that took them as he walked down the street many people looked at him like he was the scariest man alive…and they would be scared if they knew his story
"Look at that guy" One man muttered
"Look at the size of that sword" Another man muttered
"Is there a renaissance fair in the city or something" A woman asked her friends
"Okay, it's up to me to find the missing pieces of the Master emerald, though why that thing took them here of all places is beyond me" Knuckles muttered to himself, he then started looking everywhere he could while using his special connection to the pieces of the Master emerald to better his chances at finding them, he soon ended up where the Flash/Sonic fought the water creature and started to feel something
"Hmm…I can feel Master emerald shards are nearby, better have a look around" Knuckles said before he broke through the sealed off section of the park where the police were last night, by using his connection to the shards he managed to locate three of them
"Well at least that's three down" Knuckles said before police officers showed up
"HALT, you are in a restricted area hands up now" One of the seven officers ordered
"Look, I just came here to take something that belongs to me, I don't want" Knuckles was about to say before one of the officers, a newbie accidentally fired a shot but Knuckles quickly whipped out his Dragon slayer sword and shielded himself
"HEY" Knuckles shouted
"HOLD YOUR FIRE NEWBIE" One of the elder officers told him
"I don't have time for this" Knuckles said before he used his hands to tunnel underground and escape
"HE GOT AWAY" One of the officers said
"Well, get down there and go after him" One of the female officers said
"Yeah right, you first, did you see what he did with that GIANT THING he BLOCKED…A BULLET" The newbie said
"And I thought the Flash was fast" The elder muttered
(With Knuckles)
The echidna eventually resurfaced and shook himself to get the dirt off him
"Whew…any longer after that shot and I would have been a dead echidna" Knuckled muttered before he felt more shares near him, he then looked up to see a huge building marked "Casinoplis"
"Hmm, the emerald shards are in that building" Knuckles said before he headed inside, it didn't take him long what with his climbing and gliding abilities allowing him to traverse his way across the many twists and turns inside, he soon found three more shards
"Alright, so far lucks been on my side…hopefully I can get the rest of the shards back just as easy" Knuckles said before a red orb of light came out of tone of the shards
"What in the" Knuckles muttered as the orb floated around him
"Um…okay" Knuckles muttered before everything went white and Knuckles couldn't see
(Station square air space)
Above Station square city there was another visitor to the city and a rather brilliant one, this is Miles "Tails" Prower the smartest young man in the world who was testing out his new armor which is powered by a Chaos emerald he found (Think of Tails with the backstory and the armor of Iron man and you'll get the idea)
"Jarvis you there" Tails asked his on-board computer system "Jarvis"
"At your disposal sir" Jarvis answered
"How's the new armor holding up" Tails asked
"Running analysis…analysis complete, armor is holding steady at one hundred percent power, no side effects of the Chaos emerald power core detected yet, thought I would suggest that you do more tests before an actual flight" Jarvis advised
"Remember what I said when we first tried out flight capabilities" Tails asked, Jarvis sighed
"Sometimes you have to run before you can walk" Jarvis replied
"Exactly so if all systems are a go…FULL SPEED AHEAD" Tails said before boosting speed even further, it was smooth sailing until the emerald started acting up
"Huh, what the" Tails muttered
"Unknown interference with the emerald power source" Jarvis said as Tail's armor started to lose altitude and control
"Whoa, WHOA, WHOA, WE'RE OUT OF CONTROL" Tails shouted as he descended at a rapid pace
(Down by the pool area of a nearby community pool sight)
The Flash A.K.A Sonic was chilling by the pool, given that it was his day off from both his normal job and hero work, he relaxed on a folding chair with a soda and chilidog
"MMMMM, MMMM" Sonic muttered after biting into his chilidog
"So good" Sonic said before gurling his soda, it was a nice day until people around the pool started muttering about something which caught Sonic's attention
"Huh" Sonic muttered before looking up at the sky like everyone else and he saw Iron man A.K.A Tails one of his friends
"HEY, IT'S IRON MAN" A random woman shouted as people started taking pictures on their phones
"What's he doing in Station square" A random man asked
*Yeah, what is he doing here* Sonic aske din his head before he was shocked to see Tails about to crash
"Oh no" Sonic muttered before Tails crashed on the far side of the beach, Sonic then quickly looked around to see if anyone was looking in his direction before he quickly dashed at Flash speeds and rapidly put on his super suit which he kept just in case problem came up and dashed off meanwhile he was being watched by someone, it was Dash the hedgehog
"So, he IS the Flash…I better tail him" Dash muttered before running off
(With Tails)
Tails survived the crash, but his armor was damaged form the impact
"OOOOOOH, my aching…everything" Tails muttered
"Sir, are you alright" Jarvis asked
"Other than my tails and head hurting, I'm just fine" Tails answered before he looked up to see a familiar face, The Flash/Sonic
"You alright there, shell head" Sonic called Tails by his nickname as he extended a hand to the armored hero
"Better than I look…Sonic" Tails said as Sonic helped him up
"Hey, you wanna a megaphone to announce that" Sonic asked
"Come on you trusted me to make that special electric-resistant suit for you, you think I can't be trusted with your identity" Tails asked
"Yeah, your just lucky I saw you crash and rushed over to help ya…you sure nothing's broken" Sonic asked
"Yeah, pretty sure" Tails answered
"Then answer me this then, why are you here in Station square I thought Westopolis was your territory and what made you crash" Sonic asked, Tails then pulled out the chaos emerald that got knocked lose
"Well…it's probably thanks to this thing" Tails answered
"WHOA, a chaos emerald, how did you get a hold of one" Sonic asked
"Found it a few weeks ago, thought I could use it as an alternate power source for my suit and I tested it…you can see the results" Tails answered
"But aren't they pretty much useless unless you have all seven of them, I mean that's what the legends about them say" Sonic asked
"Only to those who don't know what they're doing, I managed to tap into it's power but something or someone did…SOMETHING to it that made me lose control of my suit" Tails explained
"Got any idea what they could be" Sonic asked
"No idea…but if you have the time, I would like your help in the matter, you know where the Mystic ruins are right" Tails asked
"Oh no, I don't know the mysterious ruins that have been near Station square since…FOREVER" Sonic joked
"Smarty pants, just get there, I got a lab there for when I need to get away from Westopolis, I can run some tests there" Tails said before he took off like a rocket with his suits jet-flight system
"Oh well, so much for my day off" Sonic muttered before he sped off to the Mystic ruins but the two of them were being watched by Dash
"What…uncle Tails is here to…funny, I don't remember him ever having a suit of armor like that…I guess this dimension has many more surprises in store, still I have a sinking feeling in my gut that there's trouble coming" Dash said before he took off after Sonic towards Mystic ruins
(Mystic ruins, near Tails's workshop)
Sonic was laying on the ground waiting for Tails to show up whilst playing Angry bird on his smartphone, eventually Tails showed up
"About time you showed up buddy" Sonic said before he got to his feet
"Well, not EVERYONE has the kind of speed that you do, come on my shop is right up" Tails was about to say before something in the sky caught his attention
"Ahead" Tails said in a confused voice, the thing in the sky looked to be a flying vehicle of some-kind with a man in a red and black outfit piloting it though his face was hidden by a full helmet
"What the heck" Sonic muttered
"Well, well, well the famous Iron man and Flash" The man said
"And who the heck are you supposed to be" Sonic asked
"That is none of your concern right now…what does matter is what I want from you" The man said as they were being watched by Dash
*EGGMAN…should have known HE would be in this dimension* Dash said in his mind, expecting nothing but trouble when it came to Eggman
"And what's that" Tails asked the mysterious man
"That Chaos emerald you have…GIVE IT TO ME" The man demanded
"What does he want the emerald for" Sonic asked Tails
"No idea…but judging from that machine he's got he knows his science and if he's like me and can harness the emeralds power…it probably isn't good" Tails said
"I said hand over the emerald, I won't ask again" The man said
"Forget it whoever you are" Sonic replied
"Very well" The man said before suddenly from out of nowhere a huge machine appeared
"WHAT THE" Tails asked, the second machine then linked with the machine the man was piloting to create a new one (To all who's played Sonic adventure it's the Egg Hornet boss)
"Jarvis…scan that tech" Tails ordered Jarvis
"Scanning sir" Jarvis replied
"You had your chance…now I'll just TAKE IT from your cold bodies" The man said before he charged the two who separated and fought him together, since both of them have worked together on numerous occasions in the past they were already able to work together really well, it didn't take long to destroy the huge machine despite its attempts to take the emerald from the two heroes
"ALRIGHT" Sonic yelled as the man was forced to withdraw from the rest of his machine
"RAAAH" The man growled
"What was that you were saying about taking the emerald" Tails asked the man, suddenly a long, mechanical arm came out from the man's machine and snatched the emerald from Tails
"THE EMERALD" Tails yelled
"NO" Sonic yelled as they both tried to get it back, but the vehicle was protected by an invisible force field, knocking the two heroes back
"Come now Chaos…time to eat" The man called as a puddle of water started forming under the mechanical arm that held the emerald
"Chaos" Sonic asked
"Whose Chaos" Tails asked the man before the form of Chaos appeared from the puddle
"Wait a minute…that's…that's the monster I fought last night" Sonic said
"Jarvis" Tails said
"Already took the liberty of scanning the creature" Jarvis said
"And" Tails asked
"No elements in it's physiology can be identified" Jarvis answered
"Helpful" Tails muttered before the man "fed" the emerald to the monster and it suddenly not only grew bigger, but its right arm had what looked like a metal arm inside of it that contained the emerald
"Ha, ha, ha, yes, it's happening just as the ancient tablets said it would" The man muttered
"What did that thing do to the emerald" Tails asked
"It ate it up like it was a piece of candy…and are my eyes wrong or did that thing just get bigger" Sonic asked Tails
"Your eyes don't deceive you Flash, behold the mighty CHAOS" The man said
"What…what is it" Sonic asked
"All you need to know that his strength grows every time I feed him a Chaos emerald and when he has all seven…he will be INVINCIBLE, together we will take this world, come Chaos the next emerald awaits" The man said before
"NO" A new voice shouted, Tails and Sonic looked behind them to see Dash making a run for them
"GIVE BACK THAT EMERALD ROBOTNIK" Dash yelled with his Chaos sword in hand, he went to get the emerald back from Chaos, but the man dropped a flash bang grenade and blinded the trio
"GAAAAH, MY EYES, CAN'T SEE" The trio yelled after a few seconds the trio's sight returned and saw that the man and Chaos were gone
"No…NO, HE TOOK THE EMERALD" Dash yelled
"Man, that was some bright light" Sonic said
"Jarvis can you track them" Tails asked his computer system, who scanned for some type of signal they could track
"Unable to pick up a signal of any kind that could aid us sir" Jarvis answered
"Blast it" Tails muttered, Tails and Sonic then looked at Dash
"Hey, I remember from last night, Dash right" Sonic asked
"Yeah that's me and we're in mega trouble" Dash said
"Hold up, you called that guy Robotnik how do you know him" Tails asked before he typed up something on holographic images projected from his helmet
"That's…complicated" Dash answered
"How so" Sonic asked
"Can we save that for AFTER we get back the Chaos emerald" Dash asked
"I got him" Tails said
"What is it" Sonic asked, Tails then projected images of Doctor Robotnik
"I looked up information on the name Robotnik and found a match in national records, Doctor Ivo Robotnik, creator and head of "Robotnik enterprises" a company that rivals the fame and powers of "Tails industries", I.Q nearly four hundred, doctor degrees in physics, mechanics, quantum physics, robotics and several other fields of science the man's net worth is nine, point five million dollars, makes technology that's YEARS ahead of mostly everyone else and has his fingers in records, airlines, banking and even has his own private military at his command" Tails said as he showed Ivo Robotnik at several events, faces on magazines and advertisements of all kinds
"In other word's the guy is both rich and powerful" Sonic said
"But how did he come across that Chaos thing, that's the question I want answered" Tails said as he made his holographic images disappear
"Why don't we ask Dash here, which begs the question, how did you know it was this Robotnik character under that mask of his" Sonic asked
"Same way that I know who you are under that mask…Sonic" Dash answered, shocking Sonic
"Wh-what, who is this Sonic character" Sonic asked, trying to protect his secret identity
"Give it up Sonic, I know it's you under that mask, only a hedgehog can possess that kind of speed and hedgehogs tend to leave behind a lightning trail that is the exact same color as their fur color…can't believe other people that are smart haven't figured it out yet" Dash said, Sonic paused for a second before he looked at Tails and he shrugged his shoulders only for Sonic to sigh and take his mask off
"Okay so you know me, what now you gonna plaster it on the internet or something" Sonic asked
"Nope" Dash answered
"Your…NOT" Sonic asked
"What I am gonna do is help you guys keep Eggman away from the rest of the Chaos emeralds" Dash said
"Wait, wait, wait…EGGMAN" Tails asked as he and Sonic sneered
"Where did you get that name from" Sonic asked, Dash had to think of something fast
"Yeah, the um, the people on social media dubbed Ivo Eggman because he's shaped like an egg…sort of…anyway it's not important we need to keep Eggman and Chaos away from the other emeralds" Dash said (He's not gonna reveal that he's from another dimension or that Sonic is his father in said dimension or that Tails is his honorary uncle…not just yet)
"He's is right sir, according to my scans of the "Chaos" creature upon absorbing the Chaos emerald into it's body it started generating an unknown energy inside itself, I've run further tests and if it consumes more emeralds then the energy grows and once all seven are consumed" Jarvis was about to say
"Let me guess something really bad will happen" Tails asked Jarvis
"Something really bad is an understatement sir" Jarvis replied
"Okay, I'm with Dash on this one, we gotta make sure no more emeralds are swallowed by Chaos" Tails said as Sonic put his mask back on
"Alright, where do we start" Sonic asked, Dash's sword then started to glow
"Whoa, what's that" Sonic asked, Dash then looked at his sword and started moving it, it glowed in one direction and as the glow slowly stopped glowing after pointing the sword away from the direction that it was pointing towards
"What's that thing doing" Sonic asked Tails
"I don't know but it's giving off the same kind of energy that the Chaos emeralds radiate
"It's…it's guiding us" Dash said
"To what" Tails asked
"My guess…to the next Chaos emerald, we've got our heading" Dash said before they headed towards an area called "Windy valley"
(Back with Knuckles)
After the red orb surrounded him, Knuckles soon regained his vision he soon saw he wasn't in the city anymore
"What in the world, where am I" Knuckles asked before he looked at the sight in front of him, a large temple that looked all too familiar to Knuckles
"N-no way…this can't be" Knuckled muttered to himself, he saw his old home the one where he was raised, he grew up in the ruins of the once proud civilization with the rest of his clan but these looked brand-new, he walked through the temple feeling every step he was taking was haunting to him, given the bad history with the tribe and every step he took triggered bad memories
*NO, STOP, DON'T KILL ME PLEASE, SPARE ME* The pleading voices in Knuckles head echoed
"GRR" Knuckles grunted
*Traitor, you betray us, backstabber, you betray your own blood, we could have ruled all, your no son of MINE* More voices echoed in Knuckles ears
"Shut up, SHUT UP" Knuckles yelled in anger, soon he came across two figures ahead
"H-hey, excuse me can I ask you guys…some…thing" Knuckles muttered as he got into view and saw they were Echidna's like him, one an elder male, the other a young female
"Father, PLEASE DON'T" The female said
"Tikal, the seven emeralds are essential to our survival, it is for the GOOD of all our people" The elder said, Knuckles shuttered a bit, because he somehow knew what this conversation was about
"Can't be" Knuckles whispered
"How can I make you understand, attacking other countries, stealing and killing, it just CAN'T be the right path to peace no one has the right to take their holy grounds I BEG YOU FATHER" The girl called Tikal replied to her father, Knuckles vision suddenly grew bright again before he overtook him, suddenly Knuckles was back in reality
"Huh…what" Knuckles muttered as he saw he was back in Station Square
"What was that just now, some kind of vision" Knuckles asked himself before he shook it off
"Ah, probably nothing important, I better get back to finding the emerald shards" Knuckles said before moving on
