My excuse is that I am a working woman.

Lol! So so so sorry!

Flashback: Two years ago

The fighting and the arguing, it never seemed to end these days. It's become more frequent and real. There's no "making up" immediately afterwards, only brushed under the rug. So many unresolved issues.

"Our son isn't well Fitz and all you do is work! You're always abandoning Carter and I. You're abandoning your responsibilities as a husband and father! While I'm home, taking care of OUR son, you're either out of state or at that damn office!" Olivia seethe through angry tears. She was tired, worried, hurt, and stressed beyond words.

"Oh, come on! That isn't fair, Olivia!

Carter will be fine. You're just being dramatic like always." Fitz said before going back to his work in his home office.

But he didn't know that he had waved his wife off dismissively for the last time, and that was the final straw for Olivia.

She toyed with a lot of things, but her son was not one of them. In that moment,

Olivia made up her mind on what she needed to do.

If Fitz didn't care about her and the child that's already physically here, how could he possibly care for the one that she's carrying? She couldn't handle all the pressure on her own.

There was so much animosity in the Grant household that the tension could be cut with a knife, but Fitz had had enough. After a week and a half he was tired of sleeping separately from his wife. He was tired of walking on eggshells around her. He missed his best friend dearly. Although Fitz knew he wasn't home a lot of the time, he made up in his mind that it was for good reason. He was trying to build an empire. He wanted things better for his child and possibly future children.

He wanted his mom, and even mother-in-love to be able to retire whenever they wanted and not have to worry about a single bill, and of course he wanted that for he and his wife as well.

He had a mission. He had a goal. He knew he was on his way to greatness. If only he had the support he desperately needed and wanted from his wife.

Fitz nervously walked into the bedroom he and his wife shared. The room once oozed with love, it could be felt the moment you walked inside, and that was something he missed dearly– making love to his woman every morning and night. He missed seeing her face contort with pleasure as he worked her over relentlessly.

He missed the cuddling and laughs and pillow talks that followed behind.

He wanted things back to normal and he wasn't ashamed to let her know.

Work be damned.

"Hey, Liv. Can- can we talk?" Fitz asked, and Olivia nodded as she stopped her reading. She was in a loose-fitting, black lace nightgown with her back resting against the headboard as she scrolled on medical websites, trying to gather more information about her son's symptoms, she just knew something wasn't right with her little boy.

But, she was also ready to confront Fitz as well. She begrudgingly placed her cellphone down and looked up to her husband, the man she loved more than life. Yet in this moment, she did not like him.

Within the two weeks span of not speaking to him, she had made a drastic decision that could possibly change everything for them. She allowed her anger and hurt to drive her instead of being rational, and sadly she now feels like there's no chance of coming back from this. She felt guilty and needed someone to blame for her irrational decision.

"Um, sure we can. I have some things I need to say as well. You first." She said in a soft response.

Fitz shook his head, "No, you- you can go first. I want to hear everything you have to say, baby."

Olivia sighed. This was it. The start of her plan to get her husband to hate her so it'll be easier to let go once he found out what she had done. "I think we should separate, Fitz. We- I need time apart. I need to focus on Carter. Something isn't right with him. I'm his mom, I can feel it and you're so busy with work that you can't see it. Cater and I have taken a backseat to your job and I've accepted that now so now-"

Fitz put his hand up to stop from saying any more, he couldn't sit there and listen to another word she had to say.

"Olivia, that is not true! You and Carter have and always will be my first priority. It's why I've passed on the blueprints to my partner. I always wanted to be hands on with my projects, especially with this one, but it's not worth losing my family! I love you, Olivia. Please, don't do this. I can fix it. It's not too late for us."

It pained Olivia to see him in so much pain and sound so broken, but she knew he'd hate her for what she had done. She could eventually accept that, but hearing him beg her to stay only made things worse for her- she knew she didn't deserve this man. He was too good for her. She had to get him away. She was no good for him.

"Fitz, I- I can't do this anymore! God, you've said all of those things before and nothing's ever changed! I just need time."

She walked to the bedroom door and held it open, and he knew what that meant.

Fitz took a deep breath to collect himself, then he walked to the door, and stopped.

"I'm not giving up on us, Olivia. You are it for me. We were made for each other. I might've messed up in the past, but I will not let you go. You are my wife, our vows said for better or worse, and we are bigger than any of our problems. I love you, Olivia. No matter what."

He placed his hand on Olivia's stomach as he kissed her forehead, which all caused Olivia to slightly flinch- it was just too much. Fitz was too consumed by his own emotions to notice. "Please, just go." She whispered as the tears fell from her eyes. Fitz gave her one final once-over, then he was out the door.
