Chapter 4: Approval
"I want you to train me." Demanded Asriel
"What?" Replied Undyne
"I want you to train me." said Asriel as he repeated his demand.
"For what? You live in a peaceful time. What's the point?" asked Undyne carelessly
Asriel looks at the floor.
"I… I just want to protect my little brother." answered Asriel
Undyne glance for a moment before looking away again
"Please…" asked Asriel as he looked back up with desperation.
Undyne sighs and says "Fine, but only on Saturdays. Those are my free days."
Asriel jumps up with happiness then says "Yay. Thank you, Undyne. Oh thank you thank you thank you!"
Undyne smiles and responds with "No prob'."
"So… when do we start" asks Asriel with excitement
"Well… I kinda have to ask your parents first before I can actually start training you…" answered Undyne
"Oh… oh no…" said Asriel with an expression of "aw sh*t"
"What's wrong?" asked Undyne
"I don't think my mom is going to be ok with this. And my dad on the other hand… um… I am unsure…" said Asriel with uncertainty
"Yeah… that's probably what's gonna kill this thing. Your mom." said Undyne agreeing with Asriel's statement.
"Aw..." said Asriel with disappointment.
"Relax. I'm sure there is something to convince her to let you… I hope..." said Undyne
The very next day…
"Absolutely not!" yelled Toriel
"But mom…" said Asriel before he was cut off by his mother
"Asriel Dreemurr, you are out of your mind if you want to train with Undyne!" continued Toriel
"But-" said Asriel before being cut off by his mother again
"No buts young man! To your room. We will speak of this later." said Toriel with anger in her eyes
Asriel, then, ran to his room in tears and slammed the door shut. Toriel turned her head towards Undyne after seeing Asriel run to his room and say...
"And as for you. I don't know what gave you the right mind to agree to that sort of thing." said Toriel as she expressed herself to Undyne
"Toriel, let me explain-"
"Explain?! You think that I want to hear you explain to me as to how you thought that this is a good idea." said Toriel infuriated
"But-"
"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!" yelled Toriel
"I believe that is enough, Toriel. You don't need to keep raising your voice." said Asgore as he sat right next to Toriel
Toriel huffed in anger after hearing Asgore's comment and sat down.
"Now then, why did Asriel ask you to train him?" asked Asgore
"He said he wanted to protect his younger brother." answered Undyne
And after hearing this, Toriel's eyes widen to the fact of hearing this.
"Well, that answers that…" said Asgore surprised by the fact
Toriel, then, looks down at the ground, filled with guilt after realizing what she had done.
"What do you think of this, Tori? Toriel?" said Asgore as he looked to see that Toriel had left the table.
As all of this was going on, Asriel was in his bedroom, crying in his pillow to the thought that he will be unable to protect his younger brother… until…
*knock knock*
"Asriel. Could you open the door please?" asked Toriel
Asriel looks up from his pillow, walks towards his door and opens it to be greeted by his mother. Toriel sees her child's face drenched in tears, eyes reddened and nose (snout whatever you want to call it) stuffed from crying so much.
"*sigh* Oh my child…" said Toriel after seeing Asriel in this state.
"What is it?" Asked Asriel trying to keep it together without bursting into tears.
Toriel leans down and hugs Asriel, He tries to push himself away until he hears his mother say…
"I am sorry." said Toriel with a saddened face. As Toriel said that, Asriel had begun to cry again, knowing that his mother had figured out why he had asked to be trained by Undyne.
"You really care for your younger brother, don't you?" asked Toriel as she looked at her son.
And in an instant after hearing this, Asriel bursted into tears and cried into his mother's shoulder and replied with…
"YES!" yelled Asriel with tears in his eyes.
As all of this was going on, Frisk had been observing the situation go down. Frisk, then, walks over to the kitchen and listens in on the conversation at hand.
"Unfortunately, I do not feeling that it is the right time for him to be training with you, Undyne." said Asgore
"I… I understand." said Undyne
"He is too young to be training with you." said Asgore
"I see." said Undyne
Frisk, then, hides behind the wall that divides the kitchen and the living room. Hearing this, she thought…
"Training? Training for what?" asked Frisk to herself as she heard Someone get up from the table.
"Plus… I don't want to lose him again." Said Asgore as he displayed grief of a memory that he wishes to forget.
"Again?" asked Undyne with uncertainty and then she turned and saw Frisk listening in on the conversation.
Frisk quickly hid back behind the wall that divided the living room from the kitchen. Asgore, then, noticed Frisk and said to her…
"Frisk. You can come out now. I saw you as well." said Asgore as Frisk then came walking out from behind the wall and walked up right next to the kitchen table.
"May I ask a question?" asked Frisk after being caught listening in on the conversation.
"What is your question?" Asked Asgore
Frisk began to twiddle her fingers and then asked…
"Why was Asriel wanting to train with Undyne?" asked Frisk while looking at Undyne.
"He wanted to protect your baby brother." answered Asgore
"Oh… I see." said Frisk as she looked down at the green carpet of the kitchen.
"Your mom was clearly against the idea as you may have heard." said Undyne as she looked at the direction that Toriel took to go to Asriel's room
"He wants to protect his younger brother from harm's way." said Toriel as she walked into the kitchen with the little one in her arms.
Frisk walked towards Toriel to see her new younger brother. She noticed that he was messing with Toriel's ear as it hung above him. The infant's eye then fixated on his mother's face as she moved her ears out of the child's face. Asriel, then, walked out from behind Toriel and the infant then turned to see Asriel. He then tried to reach out his hand to get Asriel's attention, but to no avail. Toriel noticed the child trying to grasp for His elder brother's attention and then said…
"Asriel. I believe that your brother wants your attention." said Toriel as she pointed out the fact
"Hm… What is it, Seth?" said Asriel as he looked up to see his brother.
The baby continued to try and grab Asriel, but to no avail…
"I think he wants you to hold him." said Frisk as that's what she got out of the body movement that she got out of her younger brother.
"Oh… ok. M-May I hold Seth, mom?" asked Asriel nervously
"Of course." said Toriel as she carefully laid the infant into his arms.
The infant had begun to glow with happiness when he saw the face of his elder brother. Asriel, seeing the child's reaction to him, began to smile at the sight of his younger brother's face. The child, then, began to laugh with joy.
"You're a natural, Asriel." Said Undyne at the sight of Asriel holding the infant in his arms.
Asriel, then, turns to look at Undyne after hearing her last sentence. As he turned to look at Undyne, his ear had gotten in Seth's face. Seth, then, proceeded to grab the ear and yank it.
"OW!" yelled Asriel as his ear was yanked on by his younger brother.
He (Asriel) then looks to see his younger brother grabbing his ear. Asriel sighed and said…
"Well… no one said that being a big brother was going to be easy." said Asriel as he looked at Seth as he then proceeded to yank his ear again.
"Ow! Stop doing that!" said Asriel as his younger brother yanked his ear again.
"Ok. I think you're having some trouble with Seth. May I see him back now?" Asked Toriel
"Sure. Take him. My ear can't handle anymore of Seth yanking it." said Asriel as he rubbed his ear.
"Oh I think you are just overreacti-Ow!'' Said Toriel as Seth pulled her ear.
Everyone laughed at what had just happened. Toriel, embarrassed by what just happened, began to blush.
"You were saying?" said Asriel to his mother with arrogance in his voice
"The kid's got a helluva tug." Said Undyne seeing what had just gone down.
"Oh I'm sure it's not that hard." said Asgore as he took Seth from Toriel's arms
As Asgore began to cradle Seth, He felt Seth's small hand course through his beard reach his ear, and then, Seth tugged on his father's ear.
"Goodness. He certainly has a tug." said Asgore reacting to his son's tug.
Frisk giggled after seeing this and then asked…
"Dad, Can I see Seth, please?" asked Frisk
"Sure." said Asgore as he carefully handed Frisk her younger brother
Seth, seeing his elder sister, proceeded to stare at his sister's face, fixated on the idea that the rest of his family is white and fluffy while his sister is soft and smooth. He then reached to touch his sister's nose, but, to feel it had a smooth texture.
"You are a curious one, aren't you?" asked Frisk with glee.
"Of course he spares Frisk of the pain." said Asriel as he was still rubbing his ear.
"Eh don't worry about, Azzy." said Undyne as she smiled to reassure Asriel.
Asriel squinted at Undyne at the statement she had just said and he said…
"Would YOU like to hold him next?" asked Asriel
"I think I'll pass for now." said Undyne knowing the pain that will happen if she held Seth.
"Are you sure?" asked Frisk as she carried the infant child towards Undyne.
"Yes. I am positive." said Undyne as he rubbed Frisk's head.
"Ok then." said Frisk as she turned around and walked back towards her mother and gave back her baby brother.
"Thank you, Frisk." said Toriel as she got Seth back in her arms. "Now then, I am still against the idea of Asriel training with Undyne." continued Toriel
"Aw…" said Asriel as he looks down at the carpet
"I understand, Toriel." said Undyne
"WHAT?! B-but Undyne-"
"Asriel. I am unable to train you and that's finally." said Undyne as she closed her good eye.
"Undyne…" said Asriel as he then gets the idea.
Undyne then opens her one eye and stares Asriel dead in the eyes.
"Well… I'm glad that we have worked something out." said Toriel as she walked out of the room with Seth in her arms.
Asriel continued to stare at Undyne knowing what she had planned...
