The next day.
Bonnie parked her car along the drive way of the Salvatore's Boarding House. Caroline was with her. The two stepped out of the car and took their bags from the backseats.
Caroline noticed Matt waiting inside his truck, all ready to go. She then glanced at Stefan's truck and noticed Elena standing there. She smiled at the sight of her and the two walked over.
"Is everyone ready?" She asked excitedly.
Elena gave the two girls a cheeky smile before answering. "Stefan is grabbing a few more things because we're still waiting on Damon."
Caroline looked disappointed. "What is he doing?" She asked then sheepishly pulled out her phone. She was probably going to call him and tell him to hurry up. But that was disclosed once a voice rang from the door step.
"I'm here."
And the devil himself appeared.
Caroline eyed him, almost in the same manner you'd scold a child with. "Damon, where were you?" She asked firmly.
Damon gave her an innocent look, which he put up really well."I was just fueling up before we take off." He then proudly showed off a couple blood packs that were stashed inside his bag. He earned himself an eye roll from the girls.
"So. Who's riding with who?" Damon asked. He looked over to Matt's truck.
Caroline smiled. "I'll be going with Matt." She confirmed.
"And I'll be going with Stefan, of course." Elena said after her then turned to Bonnie. "Bonnie you should come with me and Stefan."
Bonnie looked between her and Caroline, "Are you sure?"
Elena nodded. "We can sit in the back together while Damon rides shot gun with Stefan."
Bonnie gave her a cheerful smile. "Okay."
Caroline's hands clasped together in excitement. "Alright, it's obvious that Damon will go with you guys so that means it's settled."
Caroline then dispersed from the girls and met with Matt inside his truck.
Stefan came out from the garage with snow chains in hand. He knew that up in the mountains the snow would come down quicker and heavier. For their safety he decided to bring them.
He went around to the back of the truck and popped the trunk open. Everyone followed and began to take turns placing their bags inside.
"Hold on a sec." Damon said, making everyone come to stop. He reached in for his bag and pulled it out. He unzipped it and dug his hand inside. He ended up pulling out a bottle Bourbon with a devilish grin across his face.
Stefan looked at him blankly. "No drinking on the way there."
Damon's lips parted. "Then what do you expect me to do the whole time?"
Stefan gave him a 'duh' face. "Interact with us."
Damon sighed. "That's a death trap and you know it."
Damon put the Bourbon back into his bag and sluggishly tossed the bag into the trunk. The girls snickered and went back to placing their bags inside.
Damon stood there staring at the trunk like a puppy. He was either two seconds away from ripping the trunk from it's hinges or two seconds away from confessing his undying love for Bourbon.
Bonnie raised a brow at him. "You know you could always change your mind about going? That way you can drink all the Bourbon you want." She said half jokingly.
Damon looked over to her. A grin appeared. "You would love that wouldn't you, BonBon?"
Her lips pursed and she nodded. "Yeah, I would."
"Too bad you'd miss me. I'm the fun one around here." He said being cocky and of course hinting at Stefan being the boring one of the two.
Bonnie gave him a bored look. "Me? Miss you? I don't think so."
He smirked.
"I can change your mind." His head tilted and he wiggled his brows.
"I bet you can." She said in a sarcastic tone.
"Hey! Get in the car, you two!"
Both Bonnie and Damon looked over to Matt's truck. Caroline's head was sticking out of the passenger side window. She was looking right at the two.
Damon looked to Bonnie. "After you."
"You guys better listen to her." Stefan said with an amused look on his face.
Damon's face scrunched. "But I never do that."
Bonnie chuckled. "Exactly."
She then proceeded to get into Stefan's truck and Damon did the same. He even took Elena's seat so now she would be sitting up front next to Stefan. She didn't mind it.
- About an hour had went by. No one was saying much. Everyone seem to have just enjoyed listening to the tunes from the radio.
Bonnie was looking out the window watching the scenery of trees and snow go by.
Damon nudged her on the shoulder. "Bon, want to play a game?"
She continued looking out the window. "No."
Damon pouted. "Well you're no fun."
Her lips curled. "Glad you know."
Damon looked at her desperately. "C'mon, I need something to do. I'm bored."
Bonnie turned to face him. "Why don't you talk to Stefan and Elena?"
Damon glanced over to the two. "How can I when they're doing...that."
He gestured to Elena. She was snuggling onto Stefan's arm.
"Good point. What do you want to do?" She asked.
Damon cringed at the sight of them. "Anything at this point."
"Okay, we can play chess. You know how to play, right? You're over a hundred years old so I'm assuming you know how."
He brushed off her joke. "Try not to throw a fit when I win. "
Bonnie held her chin high. "Elena, please tell Damon that I am not the one to mess with when it comes to playing chess."
"She's right, Damon." Elena told him.
Elena endured a handful of defeats from Bonnie. Caroline also had a taste of it. She was definitely not bluffing.
But Damon ignored her warning.
"You're on, Bon Bon." He smirked.
Stefan smiled. "Don't hurt yourself, Damon."
Damon looked at Bonnie challengingly. "Trust me, brother. I won't."
- One long and intense chess game later.
Bonnie made her finishing move with a satisfied grin. The horror on Damon's face amused her. She badly wished Caroline could be here to see it. But she was with Matt so she made a mental note to tell her about it.
Damon stared, eyes wide at the little electronic sitting between him and Bonnie.
"How?" He muttered.
"I won, game over!" Bonnie cheered.
Stefan and Elena snickered at Damon's defeat.
Damon's eyes narrowed as he glanced between Bonnie and the screen a few times. He came down to a conclusion. "You cheated."
Bonnie scoffed at his accusation. "I did not cheat."
Damon continued. "What spell did you use?"
Bonnie looked at him in disbelief. "Damon, I did not cheat. I won fair and square."
His lips pursed for a second. "I want a rematch later."
Bonnie gave a soft smile and shrugged. "Okay. You'll just lose again."
Elena looked at the two from the rear view mirror. "I told you so, Damon."
Bonnie chuckled. "Just admit that you lost. It's that simple."
Damon leaned in towards her. "Admit that you cheated."
Bonnie mimicked him. "I didn't so just accept it. You lost."
Stefan watched the two from the rear view mirror. "Damon, c'mon. Don't be a sore loser."
"You're taking her side?" Damon snapped at him.
Bonnie found it amusing. "Of course he is. Because I won fair and square. I think your age is starting to catch up to you." She joked.
Damon slouched in his seat. "And this is why I brought my Bourbon."
"We could drink it to celebrate my victory." Bonnie happily suggested to everyone.
Damon shot a glare at her. "Not a chance."
