A/N: Hey, everyone! Wow. It's been awhile… Then again, with Home Alone stories, it usually always is a while, before I post anything related to it. After all, this is the best time of year to post Home Alone stories! Since it's been awhile, I'm a little bit rusty with this story. I hope the chapter is OK, as it'll hopefully lead up to Marv and Kevin, living more like a Father and son. So, please forgive me, if it's not my best work! After all, COVID has really disrupted my writing muse… I hope everyone's still OK, by the way! I'll see you at the bottom of the story!
PS: StarBookLover, if you see this message, it's a long story, as to why S Lila deleted her story. I'd love to PM you, but unfortunately, I can't!
Chapter 32: House Introduction
Kevin's PoV:
I'm inside the house I was in earlier. I didn't really take a good look around, because I was so focused on escaping. I should actually pay attention now, as attention to detail may come in handy. I still plan on going back home to my family, but, if Marv can learn to trust me, maybe it'll be that much easier for him to let me go.
It's probably going to be awhile—a very long while—before I can go home again, but I have to do it this way, because obviously, what I have been doing, isn't working. I need to build this trust between Marv and I. It's the only way to do this, I believe.
Marv has his hand placed on my back, as he shows me around the house. He takes me to the kitchen, living room, and everywhere else, telling me what they obviously are. I internally roll my eyes, because I feel like he's being dumb, by showing me places I already know. I play out in my head all the different areas I could leave traps, but I know that's not the way to go about this, anymore. If I want to piss off Marv, that's the way to do it.
"I feel kinda dumb, for showing you around this place, despite how you've already seen it," You called yourself "dumb", not me. "But, I thought, since you'll be staying here for awhile, you might as well get to know the place."
Something just popped into my mind, so I decide to ask, "Hey, Marv?"
"Dad,"
I roll my eyes. "Fine, whatever. Dad?"
"Yes?"
"What about school? After all, I'm nine years old. I can't just drop out of school, like a teenager would," I say, with a shrug.
Marv thinks for a moment, before replying, "OK, first of all, I was a high school dropout…"
"Really? I couldn't tell…" I mutter under my breath.
"What?"
"Nothing. I just thought Harry was!" That's not that great of a correction, either…
"Well, you're not wrong there, either, sport. We're both high school dropouts. Though, he stayed in school for one year longer than me… He stayed 'til the eleventh grade," I'm about to repeat my question, when Marv continues, "As for school for you, we'll figure out something. I don't want my son to turn into me, after all!" If Marv stupidly lets me go to school, that may be my one-way ticket out of here! This may work out better than planned…
Marv continues showing me around, when another question decides to pop into my mind, "Hey, Marv… I mean, Dad?" He looks down at me. "Would that mean I'm 'Kevin Merchants', not 'Kevin McCallister'?" Marv thinks about it for a moment, I guess because it's never really crossed his mind before. I know it hasn't for me, until now…
"Yeah, I guess it would, but I won't be that mean, by making you change your last name. After all, 'Kevin McCallister' has a nice ring to it." I breathe out a sigh of relief, because I was worried he would force me to become a "Kevin Merchants". That could've happened, all because I opened my big mouth…
We continue through the house, until we make it to one final room—the room, where I was handcuffed to a bed. I have a feeling that'll be my room. "So, as you know, this will be your room. It's nothing special, yet; but, in time, you can do your own thing—whatever you want it to be. As a kid at heart, I know what it's like to want to decorate your room," This is a whole different Marv than the one that was pointing a gun to my head, just a little bit ago. Marv's tone suddenly becomes somber. "I would've loved to decorate my room and house the way I wanted, but Harry never let me decorate anything… He said I would make it too 'fruity'."
"Fruity?"
"Yeah, it's a grownup thing," he replies. "But, not here! You can do whatever you want, kiddo!" I just nod, unsure of what else to say. Something tells me that Harry and Marv weren't always the best of friends, like I thought they were… I feel like Marv felt imprisoned, living with Harry, and is now feeling a sense of freedom. If only I were that free. I'd do anything to go home right now. Though, that's going to take some time…
To be Continued…
…
A/N: Thanks again, folksies! Like I said above, I hope this chapter is OK, and brings some calmness to Kevin and Marv's battle of cat-and-mouse. It's not that Kevin is completely fine with staying with Marv, but things will be easier on him, if he does it this way. What do you think will happen next? Well, you'll just have to wait and see after I've posted a Marv and Kate chapter! ;) Adios!
PS: I can't believe it's almost Christmas again! :o
