A/N: Hey, guys! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. It was a nice, quiet Christmas here, since we couldn't have the fam jam over. How was yours? I'm writing this Author's Note after the chapter's been written, and, I must say, it went in a different direction than I thought it was going to. But, I guess that's the magic of writing! Sometimes, you don't know where it's going to take you. Anyway, I hope you like it, despite the difference in Kate's character. Here we go!

Chapter 33: Kate's Desire

Marv's PoV:

There's been an uncomfortable, awkward silence on the way back to Winnetka. She just rests her head on the door, looking pissed. I'm just trying to watch the road. I want to say something, but I don't know what, because I don't want to piss her off even more.

Just when I think all talking is done, Kate is surprisingly the first one to speak, "Look, Marv… I'm sorry what I said a bit ago,"

"Why are you sorry?"

"I don't know… I guess I just feel bad, when harsh words are exchanged," She removes her elbow from the door. "I'm not setting a very good example for my kids, because I want them to say what they mean, apologize for when they're wrong, and defend themselves, if they were ever in a horrible situation."

"You don't need to feel bad, because your kids aren't here,"

"I guess I'm feeling like a hypocrite, is more accurate,"

There's more silence in the vehicle. If I were truly the bad guy Kate thought I was a bit ago, her apologizing would be dumb. Though, I think she knows she can trust me. I think she felt uncomfortable, given how she was around two men, one whom she hasn't really met before. Also, Harry does give off an uncomfortable, intimidating feeling…

"So, what do you want to do? I'm in the midst of taking you back to Winnetka, as I think that's where you should be,"

"No," she says, firmly.

"What? Why not?" I ask, confused.

"Having another kid with Peter would be boring, but having another one with someone else, just might spice up my life a little bit,"

"Yeah, but who's gonna take care of the kid?"

"Well, of course, I will," Kate replies. "After all, I'll just have to…" She rolls her eyes, before continuing, "... make love to my husband. That way, he thinks it's his." She then looks at me, expectedly. It's almost like she thinks she's come up with a great idea.

"Kate…" I'm at a loss for words. "That's insane," I shake my head. "Sure, having a kid is something I've wanted, but what good does it do me, if I can't even see it?"

"I don't know, but I feel like keeping this mystery from Peter would bring some spice into my life,"

"I think it's already spiced, since you're hiding us from him,"

"True, but I feel like taking it the next step farther, all of a sudden,"

"You know, Kate, once you have a kid, there's no turning back,"

"Sure there is," she replies. "There's abortion, or adoption, if I decide I don't want the kid, anymore."

"Kate…" I'm starting to feel like this woman is more insane than I thought she ever would be.

"I'm just joking, Marv," I don't think she is, just by her tone. "Seriously, let's make a kid. Right here, right now."

"I mean, I'm driving, so…"

"Pull over,"

"I'm not just gonna pull…"

"I said, pull over," She becomes firm.

Feeling unsure, and even slightly afraid, I pull over to the side of the road. Why do I have that pre-rape feeling? "Kate, are you sure about this?" I ask, as soon as I put the van into park. Though, she must be sure about it, because she's starting to unbutton her coat. I look around, unsurely. People are going to notice what's happening, and I'll never be able to forgive myself, or Kate, for that matter. "Kate, why don't we do this back at my place?"

"Why? Harry would just disapprove," she replies, continuing to unbutton her coat.

"That may be so, but I'd rather his disapproval than having the cops looking in the window at us,"

"OK, fine," She sits back in her seat, exasperatedly. Her coat is now completely undone. "Take me back home, then."

I'm at a loss as to what to say to Kate, because she just can't seem to make up her mind. Though, as I start to put the van back into gear again, I look at her and ask, "Why don't we get a hotel room? You'd have to be the one to pay for it, but it's worth a shot,"

"What am I gonna tell my husband?"

"I don't know. Whatever you want to tell him…"

Before I can finish, the next thing I know, Kate is over to me, with her arms wrapped around me. This woman is clearly insane. It looks like she's suddenly changed her mind again, and wants this happening right here, right now, despite the risk of Peeping Toms. Oh, Lordy… What am I going to do about this?

To be Continued…

A/N: Well, what did you think? It took a different turn, that's for sure. I should probably change the rating of this story from "T" to "M", now that we have this happening in the story. I'm not sure when I'll be updating again, but you'll know, when I do! Anywho, take care! Stay safe, everyone.
