Carter's Pov:

I almost threw up when I found out who the girl in the room next to me was. "My SISTER?"

We were sitting in the visiting room before I had to board the train and go to the training center.

"Yes Carter, and its very important that you don't tell her about this because if she knew, it would be incredibly dangerous for both of you. It's risky enough telling you."

"But, why now? Why not yesterday? Or a year ago? OR WHEN SHE WAS BORN?"

"Carter, I don't expect you to understand now, but you've known about her for years."

"WHAT? Why don't I remember?"

"Yours and Sadie's mother died when you were eight years old, and your sister was six. I can't tell you any details, but your mother made a deal with the government that caused you and Sadie to have to grow up separate. They changed your memory." My dad's voice was growing urgent now. He kept glancing at the door

"They can do that?" This was the most I had ever been able to ask questions of my dad. Growing up, I did as he was told, and didn't ask questions.

"Carter, listen. I may be able to get you and your sister out safe, but you're going to have to do everything I say."

"Yeah dad, of course."

"When you get to the capitol, I need you to find a woman named Vega Wetzel. You need to promise to do everything she tells you."

"I promise."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Julius Kane pulled me in for a hug. We almost never have physical contact, but I guess this was a special occasion.

My escort walked in and said "'C'mon kid, it's time."

"Amos," My dad said.

"Julius," The man answered.

"Don't give up on them until you are sure," My dad spoke in a soft voice, but I could tell he was getting through to Amos.

"Of course not, I would never give up on my niece and nephew until I had to."

A/N: Wow, it's been forever. My bad. I wrote this chapter months ago, but I didn't post it because it felt really short. I'm going to post it anyways because I'm dying to get to the other characters.
