The next day of school was certainly...interesting. I was approached by Taru at my desk, there were only a few people in the classroom so I didn't know what would happen. "It was a mistake to send Burtu and Ljima." He informed me. "Next time, I'll just do it myself." He was threatening me, I chuckled at his "Heroism". "You know man, Ljima and Burtu are decent people, don't send Heroes to do a Villains dirty work." I ordered. "I will become a hero you fool, not you. Your opinions make you weak." Taru retorted. "I don't know why people seem to think you're fit to be a Hero." I stated. "You're just too prideful.". "You should say that when we're alone." Taru said. "I have no interest in fighting you, we're classmates." I informed him. He looked at me with this disgusted look. "A Villain lover and a liar, you had no problem fighting Ljima and Burtu." He sneered. "I was defending myself." I corrected him. "Well you'll be doing it again really soon, this time I'll see to it personally. I won't have the ranks of Heroes corrupted with people like you, or Omiora." Taru informed aggressively. I picked him up for a bit, not high enough for anyone to notice, but he was at my mercy. I knew he wouldn't call for help because he'd never be seen as weak. "If I have to defend against you...I won't hold back...for a second." I clearly threatened, getting closer to his face with each word. I let go of Taru and he recomposed himself. "After school we're settling this." He stated as he walked away. I knew that holding him in place wouldn't work again, he was prideful, loud, an ass, but he wasn't stupid, about five minutes later classes began. After the school day was over, I was immediately approached by Taru, I could see both Ljima and Burtu a ways away watching him. Ljima tried to walk to us but Burtu held him back. It was likely for the best, they shouldn't have to be involved in this. "Here's how things are going to go down." Taru began. "We're going to go to the training room and spar, and when I beat you, you leave this school forever.". I laughed at this. "You really thought that would work?" I questioned. "If you want to fight this out, very well. But I won't be leaving any time soon." I stated. "We'll see about that when you're on your knees, I won't let the likes of you become a hero." He informed me once again. He really had lost sight of himself, it was rather sad actually. I supposed he's doing what he feels is best...even if it is misguided. Perhaps if I beat him, I'd knock some sense into him. "Very well." I complied. "Then you know what we must do." Taru smirked as we proceeded to the training room. It was free and open for most of the day. There were some people training there but when they saw Taru there they scattered to the observation deck, it wasn't the first time Taru pulled something like this. Now we had an audience of people, including Ljima and Burtu.
We stood in the middle of the room, it wasn't the best training room but it served its purpose. Taru stood there ready to fight, so sure of himself...so...wrong. I admit I felt guilty for some reason, I don't know why I did. Perhaps because I was fighting someone who was training to be a Hero, no matter how wrong they were. Taru started to look impatient, he tapped his foot, raised an eyebrow, the whole work. I guessed it was time to get this show on the road. "Ready?" I asked with a slight smile. "Bring it." Taru challenged. "Very well." I agreed as my smile faded. I started off by throwing a punching bag at him with telekinesis. He dodged quite easily, and counter attacked by taking a small dumbbell from the holding wrack and throwing it at me, I dodged. "Well ok then." I said a bit annoyed. I then telekinetically picked up all the dumbbells (including the one he threw) and started to throw them one by one. He dodged one after another and as he did I positioned a dumbbell for an upcoming attack, I dropped the dumbbells to conserve some energy. Taru then threw another at me. He was obviously trying to keep his distance, I was right about the fact that he wouldn't give me the chance to grab him. I in turn dodged the dumbbell once again. "Guess you need a new strategy." I suggested. He wasn't happy to hear that. He began to get ready to charge but I started projecting telekinetic energy from my forehead. It took a lot of concentration so I had to close my eyes as I did, it was kind of a guessing game. I projected a telekinetic blast from my head. Taru went to dodge but I shot the dumbbell in his direction causing him to be stumbled right back into place, and be hit. Taru was starting to get pissed off. "You came here to kick me out of school. Perhaps you should be the one to leave." I taunted. He pretended not to care and kept throwing clutter at me. Dumbbells, Beachbody balls, you name it. Taru was increasing in anger though. As opposed to dodging I simply raised a barrier of telekinetic energy in front of me. I started to use the dumbbells and telekinetic energy now, one after another. Taru kept dodging, getting hit every now and then. "You're slipping up." I taunted again. "A real Hero would have this done by now if I was so bad." "Shut up!" Taru yelled. He started charging at me but I threw him to the side wall. "Can't dodge that." I stated. I started by throwing Taru at a wall and then threw a dumbbell at him. He quickly recovers the first few times but after the fourth he started to get hit by the dumbbells. He was getting tired and so was I, but he was getting more desperate. "You can still quit, you know…" I informed him. At this point I could hear the people at the observation deck cheering, this was good. "Wow, even the audience thinks you're gonna lose." I taunted. Taru then yelled at me. "You asked for this!" That did it. He activated his quirk and now it was time to go on defense, I only had to do this for thirty seconds.
He reached me and opened with a running punch, I sidestepped and noticed he would try to twist around and slam me with his other fist in mid air, a risky but impressive move he could pull off. Before he could I used telekinesis to slam him to the ground. He jumps back up only to be slammed down by all the dumbbells and the holder, I laughed a bit at that cheesy move I had just pulled. He started to get back up. Ten seconds, okay I could do this. He charged at me hurling dumbbells, I in turn formed another barrier of telekinetic energy, but I was starting to get tired. All this dodging and my quirk was wearing me down. He started pounding on the barrier. "Alright now you asked for it." I stated. I then started up one of my special moves, mold the barrier around him and project it forwards. Twenty seconds, I was almost there. He once again charged at me, now I wasn't playing around. He reached me and tried a left hook, I jumped back and projected another blast, he shook it off and tried to follow up his left hook with a right handed backhand. I threw a medicine ball at him knocking him off balance and lifted myself and all the medicine balls into the air. "You're cheating!" Taru yelled at me. "You're outmatched." I returned. His quirk's effect wears off. I then threw the medicine balls at him from the air, he was too focused on dodging the projectiles to notice I let myself down in front of him and pick him up. "No!" Taru yelled. I was losing my stamina, I had to finish this. I slammed him into the walls, floor, cleiling, over and over until I had about ten percent of my stamina left. He laid there on the ground, tired and beaten. "You have lost." I stated. The audience started to cheer as I start to leave.
"You're making a big mistake." Taru muttered. He started to pull himself up and I readied myself. "Heh, don't worry. You're right I lost." He assured me. "But you're still making a big mistake." I looked at Taru interested. "Why? What's so bad about me?" I questioned. "You're going to end up just like her...like Omiora." He declared. "You're strong, that's undeniable...but you're soft. It takes a hardened will and perspective to be a Hero." Taru continued. "And you...don't have it.". I just looked at him sadly. "You seem to think that Omiora's a horrible person." I told him. "She's a...Villain." Taru confirmed. He was out of breath and needed a break, so I made my response short. "She's never engaged in a fight, ever. You just did." His expression changed from conviction to surprise. "You've allowed your personal ideals to cloud your judgement on others, You're a worse Hero than she is." I stated as I left. He just stood there, dumbfounded. Looked like I broke his pride. I started to walk out of the school only to find my bus had left a few minutes ago so I just called a cab to bring me home. I paid the driver and walked into my apartment. I was exhausted after that fight and needed to sit down. I took the elevator knowing that the stairs were a death sentence only to find Mugiti in the elevator. "Mugiti?" I asked in surprise. "Oh there you are!" She exclaimed. "Where were you? You're usually here earlier." Mugiti quizzed. "Sparring, why aren't you at work? It's definitely not 7:00." I questioned in return. "I took the day off, decided to get the house ready for when Kiyaka gets here." She responded. Oh, Uncle Wagam. He wasn't actually an uncle but he sure was family. He was my late grandmother's best friend, Dads role model and a real family friend at this point. He's rather old but that was ok, he'd been around the block to say the least. He was filthy rich and has been keeping an eye out for us for a long time. He was kinda my father figure, a bit old once again but whatever I loved the old guy. "Oh, cool cool." I said. "He was on the phone earlier, said he has a gift for us all." Mugiti added. "He mention what it was?" I asked. "You know how mom and him love their surprises." Mugiti reminded me. "Yeah good point." I relented. We got up to our floor and I stepped out, Mugiti didn't. "Going somewhere?" I asked. "Got stuff to do." she bluntly stated as the elevator door closed. Alright. I walked into my apartment and got settled, I wasn't hungry so I just went into my room. I was somewhat tired so I just laid in bed hoping to fall asleep...It didn't work. I looked over to my desk and saw the music box Mom gave to me. "Eh what the hell." I muttered. I get up from my bed and walk over to my dresser. I picked up the music box and started to wind it. You Are My Sunshine started to play, Interesting music taste Dad had. I sat there and thought of the next day, what would happen? Had Taru learned his lesson or would he try again? Would Uncle Wagam stay here for a few days? He had stayed for a bit last time and we had a spare room. What was the surprise he had for us? After a while of pondering this I fell asleep.
