Flock of plovers cont.

There was noise all around me, it sounded like buzzing at first but then it turned into voices. I focused on them until they got louder and clearer, it sounded like Rin. Almost as soon as I realized who it was brightness surrounded me as I opened my eyes and looked down to where I felt something shift the bed I was on. It was my favorite redhead who noticed I was awake and smiled down at me as he brushed my brown hair out of my face.

Shiemi was waking up at the same time and asked what they were all talking about.

"We were talking about the exam." Shima answered.

"And most of the credit belongs to you, Moriyama." Konekomaru added soon followed by Bon.

"Imagine what might've happened if you hadn't been there…we owe you big time!" he said with a bow making my best friend scoff while the rest of them showered the blonde with praise.

"You mean you owe Lynn. If she hadn't pushed you out of the way, you could've been a goner. Don't play it off like her life is not as important as the rest of yours!" The look on Dakotah's face was livid. "She was the only one fighting hard enough to actually get hurt and distract the thing from the rest of you! She is weak from the poison in its saliva and none of you are thanking her for risking her life for yours!" he shouted but stopped when I sat up and patted his cheek affectionately.

"It's ok, Amour. I'm fine and I'm glad you are to. That's all that matters to me." He looked at me with unshed tears before leaning over and kissing her forehead. "I'm so glad you're ok, Baby." He then turned his head sharply in Bon's direction, "You thank her too!" he demanded the monk.

All eyes were on Kodah and Bon as they looked at each other and saw a decision pass Bon's face while looking at the man yelling at him. Bon stood up and looked over at me as he made his way over, pulling his medical drop with him. He towered above me for a moment then leaning down and kissing my cheek, taking a quick glance to see the shock on the redheads face before standing up again to look at me and thanked me for saving his life a second time. He continued to look at me as I got redder and redder in the face before I fell back into a lying position in my bed.

"Ah ha!" Everyone looked over at Dakotah and saw a pleased look on his face. "I said thank her, not make a move hahaha." Everyone relaxed as the atmosphere changed to a calmer one and no one saw the blush on Bon's face when he was accused of making moves on the wolf-demon.

The conversation moved to how Rin killed the other half of the ghoul. Dakotah watched unimpressed as Rin stumbled through an explanation before interrupting the guy to save his dumbass. "The ghoul had me trapped in its grip and Rin was behind it. When he pierced it's back with his sword, I used my glaive and pierced it's chest."

It was still kind of vague, but Rin went with it, making everyone question how he could become a knight. "Could you be any more vague?" Bon asked, "If you ask me, there's no bigger enigma than you."

"Well, what can I say? I may not look it, but I'm full of mistake!" Rin said proudly, completely unaware of what he was saying.

Shima laughed and Rin tried to remember the word he wanted to use.

"It's "mysterious" dumbass!" Bon said in annoyance making me laugh while Bon looked at me before smiling a little.

The next day everyone went home and I was put on bedrest by Yukio. The rolls from the previous day were switched between Kodah and I. I was to stay in bed and my best friend was unbearably up my ass constantly asking if I needed anything. Rin was just as bad when he saw how the redhead was acting and wanted to help too. So whenever I ask for something just to give Amour something to do away from me, like get me some ramen and a specific cat plushie I saw in a shop window, he would immediately agreed and yell at Rin to take care of me while he was gone. And Rin would constantly ask how I was too, on top of sitting in my room with me and staring between me and the tv, it was irritating. I WAS RESTING, NOT AN INVALID!

It went on like this all day until it started getting dark and I had had enough, I kicked both of them out of my room in the middle of their card game on my floor to give me some space by telling them I wanted to sleep. I really did want to rest because I knew what was going to happen tonight and I wanted as much strength as possible to help but things didn't go my way.

The sounds of gun shots rang, waking me up but as I was about to shoot out of bed and find the boys a sword was thrusted in front of my face.

Dakotah's POV

Hearing gun shots I jumped out of bed. I knew they were Yukio's since he was the only dragoon in the dorm but my immediate thought was to find my beset friend and that's what I did running to her room. I burst through her door without a second thought like I always did just in time to see a man a little older than us holding a sword at her throat. I froze in shock for only a moment but as I tried to make a move the guy threw a bag at me that loosened when it hit my chest making a powder waft to my face. I coughed for a second and tried to focus as everything went blurry and my eyelids felt heavy. The last thing I saw was Lynn's worried face as she looked at me.

Addy's POV

I watched as Dakotah fell to the ground in a slump. "KOTAH!" I shouted wanting to get free and check on him but the man with the sword held me at bay. I looked back at him with a guarded look, wondering who the hell he was. He was someone I don't remember ever seeing in the anime. He must have been a background character that was on screen for no more than a few seconds. I looked at him as he smiled down at me. He looked young, like he was in his twenties. He wore the standard uniform for exwires and had a scar on his chin. The most notably thing about him were his blue eyes that seemed to glow in the night. They looked unnatural, like they weren't the right color for his face. He continued to look at me smiling but then a thought seemed to pass his mind because his eyes got bigger and looked a little crazed.

That was when it hit me! The glowing eyes that didn't seem to fit, this man who probably had no idea who I was, and the way he looked as if I was beneath him. He was being possessed by a god-like being! But who?

"What does he see in you?" The man finally spoke only his voice sounded auto-tuned with a females voice. "Cupid is mine!" he said angrily.

When he/she mentioned Cupid, son of Eros, I knew exactly who this was. "Hey Thrud." I greeted her. "What do you want from me this time?" I asked her. Thrud is the daughter of Thor and Sif, Norse gods, while Cupid and Eros were Greek gods.

"Stay away from Cupid!" the demi-goddess demanded.

"I mean, yeah." I agreed. "I don't like the guy anyway. Besides I haven't seen him for about five years now so if he isn't pinning after me, and he isn't in his realm, he's probably found another pretty bird to bed." I concluded, thinking it'll get her to leave me alone but I was wrong. In a rush of anger, she swung her arm towards a wall sending me flying in the same direction, hitting the wall before falling to the ground, getting the air knocked out of me. Before I could catch my breath, she stabbed the sword through my shoulder. The same one that just healed from the ghoul bite. I screamed in pain as she knelt down beside me.

"You know, I've always hated you." She stated.

"I'm aware." I breathed trying to work through the pain. "You really should stick to men in your own realm. Cupid really isn't hot shit, his dad though…." I really just couldn't keep my mouth shut. There's something about her that made it fun to piss her off.

"Yes he is!" she screeched while slamming her fist onto the floor. Ah, that's what it was. Her reactions to being riled up. She literally, is in the form of a fairly attractive human, throwing a tantrum, and shrieking in a shrilly voice in anger.

Adding fuel to the fire while she had me pinned to the floor, she smiled at me as she pulled out a few small knives. I looked at her a little panicked, "Wait." I pleaded with her. "I didn't even do anything this time! Why do you hate me so much?"

"Because." She started while she went about carving me with a knife and stabbing others into my flesh, enjoying the sounds of pain I made when each one penetrated. "You have friends, boys flock to you, the demi-gods talk about you all the time, and you have a father that loves you." When there was so much blood covering my skin and she couldn't find any unmarked skin to carve, she stabbed my abdomen with her last knife and gave it a twist making me scream in agony.

Third POV

As the twin boys headed down the stairs from the roof, they met up with Shiemi and they all continued down until they heard a piercing scream that sounded a lot like their wolf-demon companion. They all began running towards her room, the boys taking the lead as the female fell behind them being much slower.

They ran into the room, the door already being wide open, as they heard Addison continuously cry out in pain to see an exwire torturing their friend as she lay pinned to the ground. Rin sprang into action, looping his arms around the other guys arms and behind his head while Yukio aimed his gun at the intruder but was stopped by the wolf-demon's pleas. "Wait!" She shouted in between breathes, "He's being possessed, don't kill him!"

The boys didn't know what to do as they processed this information but they didn't need to do anything for as their presents became known, the man glanced at both of them with a dirty look before he jerked and a bright yellow light illuminated his eyes, nose and mouth before it beamed out of him and out of the window. When the light was gone the body in Rin's arms became heavy with dead-weight and dropped to the floor, the man seemingly passed out. Both boys ran over to her, Yukio getting to work pulling out the knives imbedded in her skin while Rin held her hand in his while using the other to hold her in place so Yukio could get the job done.

Just as they finished pulling out the weapons, Shiemi came running in and gasped at the sight of the female demon and ran over to kneel beside her, she called for her familiar and asked for things to help with the wounds. With Shiemi caring for Addison's wounds, Yukio went over to check on Dakotah. Nothing was wrong with him other than the coughing fits he would have during his deep sleep, so Yukio lifted him and dragged him to his room before leaving, getting everything he needed to test the boy for internal injuries and such.

Addison's POV

After Shiemi finished using the herbs and leaves on my body, ignoring me as I told her it was unnecessary, Rin asked her to go help Yukio so she left the two them alone. I looked up at Rin from my position on the floor and tears swelled my eyes. "Thank you for saving me." I said while trying to sit up, he helped me accomplish my goal as gently as he could. When he let me go I leaned in to hug him with as much strength as I could before ending the hug but not releasing him from my arms. "I owe you my life." I told him then in a brush of courage, leaned in to kiss him.

He was shocked for a moment probably not believing what was happening when his male hormones took over and he kissed me back. It ended just as quickly as it started and he blushed while looking at me and I smiled up back at him and spoke before he could ruin the moment. "Could you help me to my bed? I just need to sleep and I'll be good as new."

He nodded but didn't say anything as he helped me to my feet and balance me as I limped over to my bed and plopped down over the covers. I wanted to be under them but didn't want to move anymore.

As if sensing what I was feeling he ran out of the room and came back a few minutes later with a thick comforter and laid it over me, tucking me in. It might have been the one he was using because it smelt strongly of him. I snuggled further into the blankets and snuck a few sniffs. "Goodnight!" I said as I closed my eyes ready for sleep. He turned out the lights before closing my door and went off the find his brother.

The next day I went about my day like usual or at least I tried too. Rin and Dakotah wouldn't leave my side for a moment. Kotah even tried to enter the baths with me saying it was for protection while Rin was smart enough to hold him back. Arriving at school we got weird looks as everyone watched the boys cooing and fussing over me. I'm sure it was the talk of the school, "Rude Bitch becomes new sought-after Confident Girl Type Girlfriend Material". During lunch we sat shoulder to shoulder, but I was too annoyed by the time Dakotah tried to feed me my lunch. I stood up surprising all the boys around me as I picked up my lunch and made my way through the group circle to sit with next to Bon while giving the two leeches death glares. I didn't notice Bon blush but Shima did and kept wiggling his brows at his friend.

And cram school went by like normal except during Yukio's class, Mephisto stopped by to congratulate on passing the test and offering to take us out to eat. By this point the others had heard about what happened to me and all of them looked at me as if I would break except for Bon, so I stuck to him like glue, not that he minded and he helped keep the boys from pestering me.

Soon a week had passed and Bon had become closer with me and Kota. We even exchanged numbers with him and his two friends, texting occasionally. It was early in the morning when Kotah and I got text messages inviting us to join in NERVE this year. We both signed up as "Players" (I changed the title from Participant, sorry) and got dressed as fast as we could before it was time to officially start because one year when Dakotah was dressing after it started, his friend was a watcher and someone had asked him to dress in a skirt for school for $200. There were others that went through something similar but it was still the funniest thing I'd ever seen.

During breakfast we warned the other occupants to not mention anything about exorcist and demons around us when we are in public as our phones are tracking us as players and watchers will be notified when we are around so they can record us live whenever we do a stunt. We also told Yukio that Mephisto gave us the ok to skip cram school for the next four weeks and we'd study and take any tests on our own when not participating in the game to make up for it.

As we walked to school, Rin asked questions about the game and how it started but while we were telling him about it, I got a text from someone saying to jump on Rin's back and piggyback the rest of the way to our destination for $30. It was a small amount and easy enough, but I couldn't start turning away request this early into the game. "Sorry Rin." I said as I got behind him and told him what was happening before I climbed onto his back. He only nodded in shocked surprise before understanding and held me in place with his arms.

Also on the way to school, we passed a couple girls in front of an ice cream shop when Kotah got a text telling him to ask the girls what flavor they were getting and pretend he was going to buy it for them but buy it and keep one for himself while giving the other to Yukio before walking away. The looks on their faces as we walked away were priceless! The day went on like this and luckily we didn't get any crazy requests from our peers while in school. But after school was out the requests became more and more daring. This is the shit Dakotah and I look forward too because the people making these requests offer a lot of money thinking no one will be willing to do them. Unlucky for them, the pair of us are adrenaline seeking daredevils!

Around the second day, some pervert texted me for a show, asking me to flirt and make out with Bon during lunch. I was going to say no but this loser posted that they'd pay $150. It wasn't a horrible request, it was still PG13 per se but it was still embarrassing considering I had started developing a little crush on the snarky monk. I blushed as I told him about the request in front of everyone causing different reactions. Shima and Kotah immediately agreed for him but he never said anything to deny the request, only looking off to the side and nodding his head.

I watched him avoid my gaze as I tried to think of what to do to flirt with him when I looked down at the half-eaten bento in his hands. "Suguro" I said trying to get his attention. "Are you still hungry?" I ask. I got a stiff nod from him while he still wouldn't look at me, a blush creeping on his face knowing I was going to say something flirty. "Then would you like to eat me?" Everyone around us who wasn't already watching the exchange, spit out the food they were eating at my bold statement. Bon himself whipped his head around to look at me as if he wasn't sure he had heard me right. Without waiting for an answer I got up and sauntered over to him and made my way onto his lap as he moved his bento box out of my way. At this point we were making eye contact as I straddled him and smiled. "Well, dig in." I encouraged.

He looked at me with wide eyes as I waited for him to make a move. He slowly leaned forward and captured my lips in his. It was a sweet kiss and we slowly continued to kiss until Dakota made whooping noises of encouragement. Closing my eyes, I leaned in more, deepening the kiss. Bon seemed to like that as he wrapped an arm around my lower back and pulled me closer still. The kisses became a little more intense and I shifted in his lap slightly to get more comfortable. That was when I felt a slight bulge in his pants and my action cause a reaction from Bon as he groaned a little and used his hand on my back to pull me down onto the bulge as he shifted up slightly making me open my mouth in shock. He took that opening and shoved his tongue in my mouth.

It was getting hot and heavier until I felt arms grip my armpits and pulled me off him. I looked behind me to see Kotah smiling back, he nodded his head in Rin's direction and I noticed a look of jealousy before he schooled his face. A ding sounded on my phone and I looked to see I got the money I was promised. The rest of the lunch hour was awkward as Bon and I didn't make eye contact and Shima kept making comments about how he was jealous and he didn't know Bon had skills like that, making Rin jealous as he replayed the kiss in his head.

More days past and the group was used to us getting texts and stopping to do as they ask. At one point we were hanging around town, sitting near a ledge overlooking the water surrounding True Cross Campus Town when I got a text telling me to jump into the water with one of the boys not participating in the game. I looked to Rin as everyone waited for me to tell them what the message said. I stood up and handed Kota my phone before holding my hand out to Rin. He looked at me questionably as he took my hand and used it to pull himself up. I lead him to the ledge and asked him, "Do you trust me?"

"Yes." He said.

I smiled and asked for his phone and tossing it to Dakotah as well. With one final look I said to him, "We're gonna jump." A beat passed as I looked over the edge and jumped pulling Rin along with me and hoping he would follow through. He didn't fight it as he felt himself getting pulled towards the edge with the attractive girl and went to jump along side her without missing a beat or letting go of her hand. It was quite a jump and while mid-air a thought passed through his mind. He would probably follow this girl anywhere. Before they were engulfed by the water down below.

Under the water they sank lower due to the pull of gravity and the height of the jump. The two blinked away the air-pockets in their eyes and smiled at each other. These were strange circumstances but doing things like this, jumping from heights, feeling the adrenaline while still holding hands, it felt so right to them. They continued to hold hands as they both started kicking their feet swimming up to the surface for air. Once they breeched, they looked at each other and laughed before letting go of their hands and swimming to the edge to get out of the water. The two were quite a ways away from their group of friends and were soaking wet but neither of them cared as they walked side by side, a little closer then they normally would have as friends, and walked up the slopy road to where their friends were waiting for them, clothes drying on their backs from the heat of the sun. By the end of the four Week NERVE game, Kotah and I accumulated about $ 5,000 each with all the outrageous dares we did and the smaller ones in between.
